Dahlia smiled as Zak scored, finally something good was happening. She didn't want to get cocky and quickly went back to defending the hoops.

Ali hummed to herself cheerfully as she sent yet another Bludger in the direction of yet another Gryffindor. She loved being in the air; it gave her a sense of freedom and exhilaration that nothing else could ever compete with. Her favourite position was Beater, of course, which was great since it was also her primary position. She was good at it and her body, no longer the delicate form of a young girl, reflected her prowess. It didn’t help her to find a boyfriend though, not that she was particularly bothered by that. There was plenty of time for romance in her future, after all.

Intent on her search, Melody only realised that Gryffindor had scored when a new part of the crowd erupted, waving red and gold scarves in the air. She smiled, feeling a bit of pressure taken off her shoulders - things were still bad, but at least a tiny bit less humiliating. Then she realised that there was another Bludger heading at her. No point expecting the Beaters to help her, she'd learnt her lesson there. She adopted a looping flight pattern, ready to dip into a sharp dive in order to evade the Bludger... she really didn't want to be the next Gryffindor to get hit.

That was a let down. After dominating the game thus far, Zak had sauntered over to the goal and just shot the Quaffle past Naomi. It was at this moment that August realised that he and Peter were the only Raven boys on the field at the moment. Odd thought to be having, but there it was nonetheless.

She shook off the Bludger on her own tail without too much difficulty, but elsewhere one of their younger players had been hit. He looked in a bad way. Melody shook her head despairingly. If she'd been the captain she would have changed the lineup a long time ago, the Beater duo obviously weren't coping well and it wouldn't have hurt to try someone new. But she wasn't the captain - after her stint in Azkaban that wasn't really going to happen.
Of course, with not being captain, she didn't need to get distracted by the mismanagement of the team and the shortcomings of the Beaters. Melody's job was quite clear - to find that Snitch before everyone on the team got beaten to a pulp...

Easily catching the Quaffle with one hand, August turned his broom toward the other end of the pitch. He didn't want the Quaffle to be seen on this side of the field for the rest of the game. Glancing quickly around him, he saw that Anna was open for a pass.

And again she had the Quaffle! This time Anna felt confident as she approached the goals. Already having scored once made her feel so accomplished. She did feel sorry for Dahlia, though. The younger girl wasn't having a good match, but it wasn't her fault, if the Gryffindor Chasers were a bit better they wouldn't have to rely on their Keeper every other minute. Much more experienced Keepers had buckled under such pressure, and this was Dahlia's first game. All the same, it wasn't going to stop Anna from shooting... she was on the opposing team, after all.

Now that the ball was in her possession there was one obvious course of action. To score. Flying with swift movements she seemed like nothing was going to stop her. Nothing would with the help of her captain. August spotted Zak going to steal the Quaffle from his teammate and that would not fly.

Something was nagging at the back of her mind, something important... there! That gold glint was the Snitch! She felt first a sense of euphoria, and then a sense of panic - it probably wouldn't stay there for very long, and she really didn't want to give away the fact that she'd seen it to the Ravenclaw Seeker... but there wasn't really any helping it. She spurted through the air towards the tiny ball, willing it not to disappear, urging her own trusty broom onwards... could she snatch victory for the lions from the jaws of defeat?

The game was nearly over since the Snitch had been spotted - by the Gryffindor Seeker, no less! That didn't, however, mean that Ali could slack off. Narrowing her eyes, Ali focused her gaze on Melody and swung her bat with all of the energy left in her after the effort that she had already poured into the game. If Peter didn't catch the Snitch, at least she would be able to look forward to the idea of watching August reprimanding him mercilessly.
