Doubt put a shadow in her mind. Maybe she really wanted August to be hit and that is why she missed that Bludger. No, she thought. I would never want him to be hurt. Scared but not hurt. Luckily August easily avoided the incoming Bludger. "Sorry mate!" She yelled to him. Celes chased after the now free ball and took a swing at it.

Target: Seeker.

Peter wondered why Melody was even trying today. Everyone knew Peter was going to catch the Snitch. Peter was going to get the glory. Peter was going to get the girls. Not that Melody was interested in girls. Was she...? Hmm... maybe he would get to know Melody on a better level. She would be so distraught that she did not catch the Snitch that she would come to his open arms and cry her heart out wishing that she could be as cool as Peter Gales. The truth was, no one was as cool as Peter.

Trying to avoid a Bludger was hard enough but when August looked forward again out of nowhere was Zak! He couldn't shake the other Chaser and while avoiding him somehow Rhoswen swooped in and stole the Quaffle. This was not going how August wanted it to go. There was nothing to be done but turn around and give chase to the Chaser.

Yes! Ali’s deflection had been successful so, much as she did dislike actually hitting people with the Bludgers even if they did know the risks when they entered the game, there was a faint sense of triumph mixing with the adrenaline buzzing along her veins. With any luck, her next move would be equally successful and force Rhoswen to drop the Quaffle so one of the Ravenclaw Chasers could reclaim it.

Naomi had sat patiently while watching the game, eyes boredly tracking the quick movements of the players. She had cheered for Ali when she had managed to hit the Gryffindor Seeker with the Bludger that had been meant for Anna. When Celes tried and failed to defend August, Naomi winced in minute sympathy. There was nothing worse than being confident about your actions only to realise that you had fallen a bit short. That was why she was so nervous about playing Keeper. Judging by August’s speech before the game, he wouldn’t be at all happy with her if she accidentally let a Quaffle fly past her and into one of the goals. Swallowing nervously, she straightened and fixed her eyes on the red-clad Chaser currently holding the Quaffle. If anything happened, she would be ready.

Hmm, ow. Apparently she couldn't rely on the Beaters to keep her safe then, she'd have to keep a closer eye out. Melody rubbed her arm sadly and glanced anxiously at the Ravenclaw Seeker, a tactic that she very rarely employed, but she'd been distracted for a bit by first trying to avoid the Bludger, and then by the pain of getting hit. The Ravenclaw didn't appear to have seen the Snitch either. So far, so good in that case. Except there was another Bludger heading her way. Such was life... she kept the iron ball warily in the corner of her eye as she searched for the Snitch, not willing to get hit again anytime soon.

The game had suddenly taken an unsatisfactory turn - a Gryffindor had wrenched the Quaffle out of August's grasp. Anna watched with concern, and then realised that she was supposed to be playing on the team too. She hastily flew in front of the Gryffindor, hoping to slow her down enough that August would get the Quaffle back before they got anywhere near the Ravenclaw goals.

Dahlia eyed the quaffle attentively, not about to fail on her first game. Every nerve in her body was on ready just in case a Ravenclaw got the quaffle.

Celes glared after the Bludger as it missed its intended target. Bludgers did have a mind of their own but they loved to hit people. Hit! Not avoid! She willed her broom to follow the free Bludger thinking about her next target. Rhoswen was playing very well, making it difficult for August to accomplish his goal. But she was just hit by a Bludger. Celes thought it was poor sport to send a Bludger after a player who was just hit. Give them a minute or two to recover. Then attack them.

Peter's latest sigh screamed boredom to all that would listen. That was the only problem with playing Seeker. No one payed attention to you until you saw the Snitch. Even then, no one cared unless you caught the damn thing. Was no one watching him? Did anyone notice how great his biceps looked in his skin-tight uniform? No of course not. Everyone was looking at August and Rhoswen. Peter could understand Rhoswen. She was hot. August? Really? No man could ever compare to Peter.

Although the game was not unfolding as August would have liked (as is ususally the case) he was proud of his team. They were working well together and it gave him a good feeling. Things were going to be all right. Thanks to Ali and Anna, Rhoswen had dropped the Quaffle and the ball was now free for the taking. Perfect for his taking.

“Aren’t we great?” Ali beamed at August for a second when he complimented Anna and herself. She wanted to be Captain one day, she wasn’t going to deny it, and a good start to achieving that goal was being noticed whilst on the pitch. Being given the Vice badge had been exciting and such an honour that she couldn’t even begin to explain it to her parents but a captaincy would be infinitely better. With that in mind, she swung her bat to force a Bludger in Edward’s direction, hoping to force him into the decision of saving either Melody or himself since Celes had already claimed the other ball and trained it on the Gryffindor Seeker. It would be an interesting experiment really, and she did feel bad to always be aiming for Melody and Rhoswen.

Hmm, well stopping Rhoswen dodging a Bludger wasn't quite the effect she'd been aiming for, but all the same, if August was pleased with her then that was good, he was the captain so it was him she needed to impress to get to play in the next game. She looked at Rhoswen dubiously. The Gryffindor had just been hit by a Bludger, but maybe it would be a good idea to distract her all the same... no point in leaving her free to grab hold of the Quaffle again when she'd only just released it.
