One would think that a golden ball flying in the sky would be noticed against a sky of grey. Guess not. Were as some Seekers liked to fly as high as possible and look for the little bugger, Peter liked to flutter around and know that soon or later the Snitch would come to him. Everyone eventually came to Peter Gales.

That was easier than expected. Something must've distracted Rhoswen as August seemed to steal the Quaffle from right under her nose. August didn't have time to really think on it as he rushed to the goal. This time, nothing would stop him from scoring. Nothing.

She couldn’t let that Bludger hit Peter, Ali knew, but she couldn’t help the small sigh that escaped as she hovered next to the Seeker and intercepted the ball heading for him. There was just something about Peter…she had never quite warmed up to him. Certainly there were occasional times when he made her laugh (mostly at him, it had to be said) but his arrogance amazed her more than it amused her. Still, if she wanted to win the game (which she did, thank you very much) then the Seeker couldn’t be put out of commission. Not during the match anyway.

Finally, a bit of respite from all the Bludgers! Melody capitalised gratefully on the opportunity to relax slightly, free to sweep her gaze lazily over the ground without needing to keep half an eye on an approaching threat all the time. From what she'd seen of the game, it wasn't going particularly well for Gryffindor at the moment, even if Ravenclaw hadn't utterly seized control, so she felt rather under pressure to perform. Even if the rest of the team couldn't do their bit, Melody needed to try to end this game on a win for the lions. It would be easier if the Beaters could just keep her safe for a while.

There, that was better. Since Ali's Bludger had found its mark, Rhoswen seemed to have become less of a threat, and Anna cheered her captain on as he hurtled off towards the Gryffindor goals. She still felt it necessary to keep an eye on the Gryffindor Chasers, though - it was very unlikely that they would want to let August through unimpeded. Though if they didn't get their act together soon, they were about to do just that!

They say life flashes before your eyes when you're about to die, but it flashes in front of your face whether or not you're going to die. For Edward that is definitely true, because the moment Stephanie failed to defend him, the next few seconds turned into the longest and yet shortest time of his life. One minute he was ready to defend himself and the next he was staring up at the gray sky barely holding on to his broom. Pain was starting to erupt through his entire right side of his chest and he half wondered if he broke something before he realized that he'd actually been hit by the bludger, which meant the game was still going.
It took him a moment to remember what was going on as his eyes fell back on the players. His body was aching, but he didn't have time to deal with that. The only thing he could deal with was the fact that he had to defend himself and anybody else from bludgers. He knew he couldn't sustain another blow like that...none of his teammates could. Edward shot a glare at the Ravenclaw beater who had single handily almost taken him out of the game. It was a wonder he was still conscious, but even though breathing was beginning to hurt he wasn't going to ask to get subbed out. There weren't enough bench players to sub out for and frankly with him being the newbie and all the last thing he wanted was to get taken out of the game on anything other than a stretcher, which hopefully would not happen. His focus fell on the next bludger he saw headed toward Zak and he did his best to try and defend.

Laughter attempted to burst its way out of Peter's chest as Edward Shaw was hit by a Bludger. Imagine a Beater being hit by a Bludger. Although he did have enough sense to know that this would probably be an inappropriate time to laugh. The laughter turned into a scoff. Peter would never be hit by a Bludger. He would grab a bat from Celes if he had to. Not that one would ever catch Peter.

Before he knew what had happened a loud cry of excitement had left his mouth. He scored! He scored! I scored!!!!!!! A cheer had risen from the Ravenclaws in the crowd and some of the Slytherins. They were happy when Gryffindor lost. Elated was probably the best word to describe his feeling. All of a sudden he heard a loud smack behind him. Quickly glancing behind him he saw that one of the Gryffindor Beaters had been hit by a Bludger. August winced. Although he knew that was part of the game, he still did not like it when people got hurt. That hit looked like it hurt. He could not give much more attention however. He had to know what Dahlia was going to do.

Ali spared a moment for an expression of clear distress, almost wringing her hands in the second before the weight of the bat in her hand reminded her that it wouldn’t be a good idea. She hadn’t meant to hit Edward so hard; she really, really hadn’t. She had just wanted to distract him, not almost incapacitate him! Being a Beater was no fun without opposition to at least try to counter her every move and vice versa.
“Sorry!” Ali yelled apologetically, raising one hand as if to own up to her guilt even as she cringed and moved on, hitting the Bludger that had collided with Edward in the Gryffindor Keeper’s direction. She would apologise properly later, hopefully in a way that wouldn’t end with him yelling at her. Daddy had always said that Gryffindors had very volatile tempers.

Oh no! Melody was momentarily distracted by seeing Edward get hit by a Bludger, hard. She winced in sympathy, itching to have a go with the bat. This newcomer, Hawkins, was obviously pretty good - the Gryffindor pair weren't very experienced and it was showing, but clearly the Ravenclaw had talent. Melody would have liked to feel how strong the girl's arm was with a bat in her hand, rather than being a guinea pig for her aim...
There was no way that the team could not be disspirited after that - Ravenclaw had just scored as well. Melody fought against the feeling. She needn't panic. She was still holding up her end of the deal... she was looking for the Snitch, even if it hadn't turned up. Was the Ravenclaw Seeker hiding talent like the rest of the Ravenclaws suddenly seemed to have turned up with? It was a worrying thought. Perhaps she could put him to a little test... if it worked, it would leave the Ravenclaw Seeker looking foolish, and maybe cheer the Gryffindors up again, a little bit. Hopefully...

They'd scored! Well, rather, August had scored - Anna hadn't had so much to do with it, really. But nevertheless, the fact remained that Ravenclaw had scored the first goal of the season. Anna cheered along with the sea of blue in the crowds. In all honesty, she was a bit dubious about August's target of 150, but she was optimistic that they could get a fifth of the way there... or even more. They just had to keep on playing aggressively. She resumed her tactic of getting in the way... she was getting rather good at it!

Dahlia was so focused on the chasers passing the quaffle, she hadn't noticed a buldger shoot toward her. She looked over to see the buldger flying toward her, trying to move away, but it was too late. She felt the buldger hit her side, thankfully not directly at her stomach. " Ow" She whispered to herself, but shook it off, thankful she hadn't fallen.

What was with the Gryffindors today? They did not seem able to hold on to the Quaffle for very long. Once again August found himself diving after the ball when the Gryffindor Keeper had let the Quaffle drop from her hands moments before. A thought voiced itself in the back of his mind. Was he being too proud? Should he let Anna go after the Quaffle? No, if I catch the Quaffle, I have to pass it to her and then she can score. Sounds reasonable enough.
