“Sorry, Melody,” Ali whispered under her breath, setting her gaze on the other girl with steady determination. For Ravenclaw to win, Peter was going to have to catch the Snitch, and that meant that Melody couldn’t be allowed to spot it or get to it first. August might have high hopes of the team of Chasers scoring so many times that catching the Snitch would be unnecessary, albeit preferable, but Ali privately found that more than a little bit unrealistic. She wouldn’t say that in front of the rest of the team, of course; insulting the captain wasn’t the best way to keep her place on the team, she was sure.

She was so close! So close! Maybe 150 points was too ambitious for the team. Maybe he should've suggested 120. That seemed more reasonable. "Next time, Anna!" he called encouragingly to his fellow Chaser. She once told him that she was not very comfortable with heights but she was doing brilliantly today. In fact the whole team was. Ali was on top of the Bludgers and even Peter seemed to be able to focus on the task at hand. Surely, the Ravens would rise above the Lions today.

She'd scored! It came as a bit of a shock, to be honest - August and Matt always outshone her in practices. She was grateful to August for giving her a chance to prove herself, and exhilarated that she'd scored for Ravenclaw. 20 points up! Buoyed up by her own success, Anna made a bold move, placing herself in a position to intercept Dahlia's pass. She wanted to take a more proactive role in the game - August had done most of the work so far...

Was Rhoswen glancing towards the Quaffle? Ali narrowed her eyes slightly, squinting against the sun in an attempt to get a better look at the Gryffindor Chaser and gauge her actions. Giving up after a few seconds, Ali shrugged and sent a Bludger flying in that direction anyway. Better safe than sorry, right?

With her team's beaters being this useless, a bat really would come in handy, Melody reflected sourly as she neatly dodged a Bludger without a Gryffindor Beater in sight to help her out. This game had a distinctly uncomfortable feeling to it - she was desperate now to see the Quaffle just so that they could all get out of here, away from the constant barrage of Ravenclaw's players performing at a level far beyond anything they'd reached in the past couple of years... or were Gryffindor just playing particularly badly? Gloomy as she was, that did seem quite likely. More likely than Ravenclaw having improved so much, anyway!

Ali was beginning to feel that she was hitting Bludgers at the same people all the time…and it was incredibly annoying because it appealed to her sense of unfair play. Still, the only other option was trying to distract one of the red-clad Beaters and she truly didn’t want to actually knock Edward out of the game. Her cheeks flushed at the memory. She would have to apologise, she knew, but the likelihood of him wanting to listen was extremely low. Sighing, Ali pulled her attention back to the game and aimed carefully at her next target.

After her brilliant score, Anna was on fire. She tried her best to intercept the pass and was within inches of catching it. Snapping his fingers in frustration August thrust himself once again into the fray. Hopefully, Peter would find the Snitch before the Lions would be able to score.
