As soon as the cat was on fire, Anastasia hit the cat with a blast of ice cold air that killed the flames. The cat badly hurt, limped back to the box where one of the men shoved it into the box. As the man locked the cage with the cat inside he took a bottle from a side compartment of the box and opened it, then poured a red liquid into a bowl and set the bowl into the box where the cat had been shut in.
Anastasia walked over to Jordan and slapped her on the back, "Iz good to use fire, kill vampire fast with fire. I givez you 10 of your pointz for you yellow house." She then pushed Jordan back towards her seat and turned to the rest of the class to get her next volunteer. "You, Slytherin boy, you come next" She said while pointing at Aden.
Once he was in place, Anastasia nodded the other man and he opened another box and out walked a white dog that looked a lot like a Great Dane. The dog sniffed the air, growled and then bounded over to Aden, teeth showing brightly in the dim room.

Aden watched as the lady that seemed to be in charge suddenly called on Jordan and had her stand in the center of the room. He smiled and watched as the vampire cat was sent out at her. Aden couldn't help but be a bit disapointed as she managed to handle the cat.
The lady than pointed at him. Aden's fingers twitched with excitment. He actually had the chance to take on a vampire. He frowned slightly when he realized it was the dog that was going to be sent at him.
Aden looked at the dog as it growled at him and than ran over to him. "Pest." He growled under his breath as he aimed his wand. "Flippendo!" He said and watched as the spell strike the dog and sent it flying into the wall. Aden turned to Anastasia. "Is that sufficient? Or can I do more?" He asked with a smirk.

Ashley was sitting next to Jordan looking up at the students who answered Professor Vectors questions. Of course Ashley wasn't the kind of person to raise a hand and answer a question, that was Elina's job. Looking over at Jordan she could tell that her friend was serious about this. Tilting her head tot he right slightly she shrugged it off and began to write down some spells and characteristics of a vampire. This was very unusual of Ashley to listen and not talk. But during class she had to pay attention so Elina wouldn't brag about her good grades to their parents. At times it was hard to live with a genius. Meredith truly loved the first child than Ashley. Pushing back the thoughts of her older sister she continued to write more notes down listening intently on what Professor Vector had to say.
The class had end and of course they had homework. Groaning Ashley picked copied down the words off the blackboard. But Professor Vector asked some of the students to follow her to continue the lesson if they liked. Watching Jordan leave Ashley packed her bag quickly and ran down after her friend excited she might actually get to see a real vampire. She had always seen the movies but never really thought of actually coming across one! Almost jumping with excitement Ashley sat on the other side of Jordan and waited for the vampire lady to come in. Bitting her lip Ashley heard a Russian accent fill the room. Looking at the women Ashley watched as she called on Jordan to go first. Watching intently Ashley almost screamed as she was about to hurt that poor little kitty. Than Anastasia burned the kitty and Ashley whimpered as it went back into it's little box. But than she called on the Slytherin boy to go next. Watching a dog come out Ashley was almost about to scream as she couldn't bare the thought of this doggie dieing! Shielding her hands over her eyes she peeked through and started to watch wondering what kind of animal she had to hurt.

"Boy! No play! Iz no game! Next time you kill vampire, no play with it! Iz give you 15 pointz for Slytherin." The dog vampire then limped back to it's box and the man slammed it in shut, and once more poured red liquid into a bowl and put the bowl into the box for the dog. She then looked back across the classroom and pointed to Dixie, "You, Slytherin girl, you next, come, quickly ve not having all day."
Once Dixie was in place, Anastasia nodded to the first man who opened the larger compartment of the box and out crawled a human vampire, a female that appeared to be in her late teens. "She no hurt you too bad, iz new vampire, only 13 dayz old, but you no play around, now go get her!" She then shoved Dixie forward towards the vampire who was now standing up and began to charge at her.

Defense Against the Dark Arts wasn't Dixie's favourite class at all. She found it boring and a wasteless use of her time. This class, however, caught her interest. She was taking nice neat notes and hanging on to every word Professor Vector was saying. Vampires interested Dix if only a little, and this class was exactly what it was about. Dix sighed as she packed up her things and started to leave. But then thought twice. She wanted to encounter a real vampire, so she followed the others into the new room.
Minutes ticked by and two people were called up. Some Hufflepuff, and Aden. After they were through- Dix was called up. She sighed again and walked to the center of the room, anticipating her actions. She breathed in and nodded. The vampire was set loose and Dix said, "Petrificus totalus." The vampire's arms snapped to her sides and she fell backwards. Dix turned to the other vampire and raised her eyebrow, "Was that playing around?" She asked before sitting down.

"Only 10 pointz girl! You all suppose to try and kill ze vampires, no trip them. Real vampire iz bad, you kill when you see them, no play."
Anastasia then looked across the classroom once more and found her next volunteer. "You, Slytherin girl, you next" She said while pointing to Millicent. Once Millicent was in position, she waved her wand and set the human vampire free from her petrified state. The vampire got to it's feet and charged at Millicent.

Many people filled into the classroom – few of any import. She continued to play with her quill as others arrived including Aden McGrogan and Danika Yakov – both younger than her but respected - and the rumoured newly reformed Perseus Feynman filled up the seats nearby her. Inwardly she found it rather amusing how the Slytherins tended to stick together and other houses gladly drifted away. She gave a loud sigh of discontent when the teacher began speaking of vampires and the rumours surrounding them blah blah blah. She listened with half an ear and took brief notes to go over and take in later as others answered. After what seemed like hours of questions the class was finally declared over with an “optional” session in another room. ‘What a waste of bloody time’ she thought as she trudged after the others.
They were introduced to a few people who dealt with vampires. Millicent eyed the trucks with a curiosity she would never admit feeling and an apathetic look on her face. Her features remained stone as a fifth year Hufflepuff encountered a vampire cat and then Aden a dog. A smirk came to her lips as Dixie was forced to deal with a teenage vampire. ‘Entertaining yes but… what exactly is the point to this?’ she thought.
Oddly enough though she hadn’t moved she was called upon next – having been pointed at and referred to as “you Slytherin girl”. “My name happens to be Millicent Bulstrode – and don't you know it’s rude to point?” She said as she moved into position and the woman set a full-grown vampire at her. Charms had never been a specialty of Millicent’s but her father had taught her how to defend herself in duels ‘Even without headlocks’ Millicent thought smirking remembering in her second year putting The Boy Who Would Not Die’s mudblood girlfriend in one at the Duelling Club.
Knowing she couldn’t do anything to intricate though while in the presence of teachers she decided the combination of two simple spells would be best. With the flick of her wand Millicent muttered “Confundus” and almost chuckled at the site of the vampire spinning around looking for her suddenly very dazed. She had more important things at hand though – to get rid of it while the thing was preoccupied trying to orientate itself. “Vermillious” she said sending a pack of rats at the vampire swarming the thing– she also “accidentally” sent a few toward the Hufflepuff who had played with the cat though only three or four. Smirking at the sight of the vermin mauling the vampire Millicent returned to her seat to watch the rest of this spectacle.

"Iz OK way, I givez 10 points." She then sent the vampire back to it's box and once more one of the men gave the vampire a bowl of red liquid and locked it in.
Looking at the class, she pointed to Ashley "You, yellow robe girl, you next." Anastasia pointed back to the first box, not the last compartment that hadn't been opened yet. "Now iz vampire, we give blood, they recover fast, cat iz ready again, but you look strong, ve see you go against cat and dog." Nodding her head, the two men opened two compartments and out drawled the dog and cat, both fully recovered from their previous injuries. Both saw Ashley and started to run towards her.

Ashley watched the next two students go. The Slytherin girl was going against a teenage vampire and succeeded. After that other girl an other Slytherin came up and tried her chance on the same vampire but sent part of her spell towards Jordan. Ashley's face turned red with anger as she stood up from her seat and walked toward the boxes. Looking at Anastasia Ashley wondered if she was a vampire. Turning her head to the left slightly she turned around and watched the two dead animals come after her. "Sorry...." Ashley whispered and pointed her wand at the animals and said "Lumos solem!" A ray of sunlight hit both of the dead creatures holding her hand for a while until both animals were on fire. Ashley felt sad in hurting the animals and slumped back into her seat watching the other students.

Quickly Anastasia took out her wand and doused the dog and cat with a jet of icy air to knock out the flames. Both vampires then slowly limped back to their boxes where they were each given bowls of the red liquid. Then the man next to the right hand box began to rub his head that was covered by the hood of his scarlet robe.
"Very good girl! You kill vampire if I no stop you! I givez 20 pointz for you." Anastasia then saw the man rubbing his head and rolled her eyes, "no... er, Igor! Stop it you idiot!" She then turned the class, "Sorry, zey both are ze idiotz, zey have ze head lice, so zey have ze hoodz, iz no contagious, zey juz stupid. OK, you girl with blue robe, you next!" She was pointing right at Dana. Once Dana was up front, the box with the teenage female vampire was opened and the vampire crawled out and looked around, then both glazed eyes caught sight of Dana, and the vampire charged quickly at Dana with one hand swinging wildly trying to claw Dana.

Dana followed professor Vector to the other room and took a seat to the side. It wouldn’t do any good to get shot with some spell directed to the vampires. Dana watched as others fought vampires, sneering at the animals and the teenaged vampire. These creatures were worse than werewolves in her opinion. After Ashley had set the cat and dog vampire to fire Dana was called upon. Sighing Dana stood and stepped forward and a moment later the teenaged vampire was released. For a moment Dana felt paralyzed at the sight of the vampire charging towards her, but a moment later Dana had already raised her wand: “INCARCEROUS!”
Ropes shot out from Dana’s wand and wrapped around the vampire, making her stumble and fall onto the ground. One of her arms stayed free though and that reached towards Dana’s leg. Almost automatically Dana raised her right leg and recalling Kris’s teachings brought it down roughly on the vampires arm. The vampire howled with surprise at the sudden pain and snatched her arm back.
“I always knew wearing heels would come handy one day,” Dana muttered with a dark scowl jumping back and pointing her wand towards the vampire, “Ferule!” A wooden stake appeared in front of Dana just as the vampire managed to get out of the ropes. “Wingardium Leviosa! Flippendo!” Dana shouted raising the stake to air and sending it flying into the heart of the vampire. Dana watched the stake fly and as the duel or facing or whatever this thing was called, was finished with it, returned to her seat feeling her migraine explode in her head again. No emotion nor fear was visible at Dana’s face until she sat down. It was only when she had returned to her seat when her legs started to shake and she sighed silently, deciding to get some potion against head-ache from madam Pomfrey when the class ended.

"Good girl, good magic, I givez 15 point." Looking over the class Anastasia found the next person and pointed at her. "You girl, blue robe, you next." She said pointing to Saphire. When she was in position, the vampire dog was released and it charged straight for Saphire.

Post by Professor Juliette Vector on Jul 3, 2005 20:37:49 GMT
Juliette stood in the back of the classroom as the students began to work with the vampires. The first few seemed to be doing fairly well and as more students were called up she watched Anastasia. She seemed somewhat familiar, bits and pieces of her voice reminded her of someone, but she couldn't quite place her, still she reminded Juliette of someone whom she had gone to Hogwarts with.
As more students went up, she grabbed a parchment and a quill and quickly scribed two notes. The first note she walked over to Harry and set it down on his desk, it read.
-------------------
Harry,
You are not required to go up if called on.
Professor Vector
-------------------
The second note she dropped off on Catalina's desk before she returned to her spot near the back of the classroom and continued to monitor the students and the vampires.

Sapphire on occasion found Defence Against the Dark Arts quite interesting. In fact, she rather enjoyed studying it. It had more variety than Charms, with any luck had a better teacher than Potions (although a good Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher always seemed notoriously difficult to come by) and was more subtle than anything like Care of Magical Creatures. Nothing, of course, could interest Sapphire like History of Magic and Mythology, but Defence Against the Dark Arts was probably one of her favourite subjects. She didn't volunteer much during the earlier part of the lesson since she never particularly enjoyed reciting facts out of books, but she showed some more interest when they moved classrooms, having made sure she knew properly what they were going to be doing and how to defend herself against vampires.
Sapphire waited, anticipating her turn, partly eagerly, partly with apprehension. People seemed to be finding quite a few ways to deal with the vampires. Sapphire was just slightly surprised they were letting the vampires go without much restraint on them, since surely that must far be exceeding the ridiculous health and safety barriers imposed nowadays, especially for some of the younger students here. In time the slightly eccentric person from the Transylvanian Council for Vampire Control called on Sapphire, who took a deep breath before standing up and having her wand out at the ready. It was the white dog that charged at her. Sapphire glared at it. She didn't like dogs. Let alone vampire ones that were trying to bite her. Well that was good. She wouldn't have too many scruples about taking it out. "Petrificus Totalus!" she cried. The dog stopped in mid bound, falling to the floor with its legs at its sides, unable to move. Not satisfied that it wouldn't at some point recover and try to attack her, Sapphire gathered her concentration for a more complicated spell. Within ten seconds, she had released her second spell. "Cum aqua perfundite!" she cried. Water poured down on top of the dog, completely drenching it, as well as the floor. Sapphire smiled slightly guiltily. She hadn't meant to ruin the floor and possibly make a leak through to the next floor. Oh well. It could probably be fixed with the wave of a wand. Sapphire returned to her seat, awaiting the verdict of 'Anastasia Brouska'.

Anastasia took out her wand and vanquished the water that was soaking the dog keeping it alive, barely. "Good girl, you have good killing vampire skill, you make good vampire hunter. You takez 15 pointz. OK, who iz next?" Looking at the class she picked a boy who had been sitting a while. "You boy, you next, come, hurry." She said pointing to Robin. When he was ready, she signaled and the female human vampire was let loose once more and once more is lunged towards Robin.

Robin made his plan as he watched everyone deal with the vampires. When his turn came he had to battle a female vampire, so first of all he sent her flying into the wall with a quick Flippendo. The vampire was stunned momentarily which gave Robin the time to transfigure a quill into a wooden rod which he put a Flying charm on and then sent flying towards the vampire's chest. He kept his wand raised in case the vampire was still alive, and then lowered it and took his seat waiting for the next person to be called upon. He wished all their classes were exciting and practical like this one.

Nasser bent down and covered his mouth to muffle the sound of his laughter. Dana said the funniest things sometimes. It was funny how she, a Ravenclaw, always made jokes at all times, unlike his two formerly good friends who although he had had a lot of good times with were very quiet and studious in class. It certainly made for a nice change. Nasser listened to Dana's and the other students' answers taking down notes in the margin of his page. He stood up after a few moments of thinking and deciding what was the whole point of this class if they were not to battle the vampires themselves? Defence after all was more of a practical field of study than a theoretical one. Nasser went into the next room still concerned about Dana but he didn't get a chance to say anything to her.
Nasser didn't really like the sound of the stake method, but at least it wasn't as gruesome as watching the vampire melt or burn. He thought he would try an "Impedimenta" first to slow down the vampire; they'd practised that a lot with Harry last year so he was quite sure it'd work on his first trial. That was exactly what he did when he was faced with the vampire, and then he finished it off with a loud "Ferule" the same way Dana did, trying not to hear the sickening squelch as the wood tore into the vampire's chest. It was over before he knew it, though he could feel his heart pounding as he took his seat. The vampire was certainly just as ghastly as it was depicted in his textbook.
Dana still seemed out-of-sorts when he sat down beside her. He touched her lightly on the arm and spoke in quiet voice. "You don’t look very well to me Dana, I think we should go to Madam Pomfrey after class," he said.

Looking back to the class she decided on a little girl this time, "you girl, you next, come." She said while pointing her wand at Melody. When she was ready, the cat vampire was released and it charged straight for her.

Post by Melody Bang-Bala G6 on Jul 4, 2005 18:08:09 GMT
Melody followed Professor Vector with excitement into a disused classroom, where there was hissing coming from some trunks, two men in rather bright crimson robes and a woman, also in bright coloured robes. Melody eyed them curiously and took a seat, listening intently. The woman didn't seem to be in such a good mood, but Melody supposed that her job must be a bit stressful. Still, dealing with vampires might be exciting. Melody had to wait quite a long time before she was called on, by which time her hand was shaking a little with nervousness as she held her wand out. Everyone else who had gone before her had definitely been older and more experienced than her. She wasn't actually entirely sure how she was going to fend off this vampire. Melody got up out of her chair and faced the trunks reluctantly.
She jumped as the white cat came charging at her, hissing and looking rather menacing. It didn't look much like Boris, but maybe it had been at one time? It seemed cruel that they kept on sending spells at the vampires. Melody wondered why the vampires still kept on coming out and attacking, even when they had been hurt so many times before. Was there a potion in the blood or something that made them more aggressive as well as stronger? Melody realised that she had no more time to think about this as the cat was still charging at her. Gulping, she came out with the first easy spell she could think of to slow it down. "Expoximise Plancher!" she said, causing the cat to stop as its feet stuck to the floor. She didn't have all that long to stop it though. It would probably start charging at her soon enough. "Petrificus Totalus!" she tried next. That stopped it from hissing at her and kept it still. It should be stuck there for a while now. Melody hesistated before trying to destroy the vampire. "Incendio!" was what she finally came out with. A small ball of flame landed at the cat's feet, singing the fur a little, but it went out almost immediately because Melody lost her concentration completely. A little disappointed, Melody returned to her seat, biting her lower lip nervously, wondering what the woman's reaction would be.
