Bam! August reeled from the explosion of pain as the Bludger slammed into his side. It hurt so much he took both hands to feel his side. August drew in some air as his hands gingerly explored the wound. It hit to touch. He felt like he was forgetting something? What was it? What had he been doing? He was going to score on the Slytherin Keeper when... where was the Quaffle? Where was the Quaffle?! August had it a moment ago. It must be around here somewhere. He looked madly about and then saw it racing toward the ground far below. He also saw Wynd going for it at full speed. He must've dropped it when he reacted to the hit. There was no way he would reach the Quaffle before Wynd got to it but he had to try.

Dylan took time out once again to fly up to Madam Hooch. He needed to substitute Pyro for Merrick Marr. After, he flew around the pitch still looking to take out Ruth. Then, he saw Celia hit a Bludger at Wynd, and he immediately sprang into action.

So maybe his attempted defense of Ruth wasn't successful. Either way, he didn't let it get to him. Ephraim saw Celia sending a Bludger toward Wynd, and so Ephraim figured he'd do the same. Wynd seemed to be going after the loose Quaffle. Perhaps two Bludgers coming after him would severely impede his success.

Her moments of Bludger-free flight in the sky would not last. She kept half an eye on them for a moment and knew Celia controlled the path of one, Eades the other - good. At least the Dylan kid didn't have first hit on one. She flexed her fingers as she crossed from one side of the pitch to the other - neither of the seekers had seen that darn snitch yet. Where on earth was it? Surely Ruth would see it soon? Ignoring the odd pulse she could feel in her shoulder still, she once again ducked her head and concentrated on the skies, blotting out all actions from the game below.

Theo's breath lodged in his throat as he watched the Bludger hit August. He didn't bother keeping his eyes on the falling Quaffle. Instead, he turned around and searched the area for E and Celia, pointing at August's diving form. "Keep an eye on the Bludgers, guys!" he yelled. The Slytherin Beaters were really intent on trying to hit the Chasers now instead of Ruth, and it was seriously irritating Theo. "Go August!" he shouted strongly as he watched the younger boy battle for the Quaffle with Wynd.

Stephen flipped around the commotion from the game drawing his attention as his eyes flickered over the bludger attack on one of the Ravenclaws and one of his teammates attempt to catch the quaffle. He hoped that they caught it. Slytherin didn't need to fall any further behind than where they were sitting already. Of course that is why he had every intention of catching the snitch before the Ravenclaw team did so...he was going to make sure Slytherin won, no matter what...he just wished the chasers were playing a better game. No matter...Stephen didn't bother to dwell on 'what ifs' as he turned his attention back to searching for the pesky snitch that was no where to be found.

((There has been a change in the Slytherin line-up: Merrick Marr S7 has been substituted in as Slytherin Chaser. Pyro Blackfire S7 has been substituted out of the game.
Dylan attempts to defend Wynd from Celia’s Bludger and deflect it to Ruth. Celia = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 4 + 5 = 9 Dylan = Defend (D8 + Str) = 4 + 6 = 10 Dylan deflects the Bludger successfully. There is a Bludger flying at Ruth.
Ephraim hits a Bludger at Wynd; Mary attempts to deflect it to Ruth. Ephraim = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 1 + 6 = 7 Mary = Defend (D8 + Str) = 6 + 6 = 12 Mary deflects the Bludger successfully. There is a Bludger flying at Ruth. NB. There are two Bludgers flying at Ruth, so Ravenclaw Beaters please specify which one you are defending against next round.
Wynd and August try to catch the loose Quaffle. Wynd = Catch (D6 + Dex) = 5 + 4 = 9 August = Catch (D6 + Dex) = 3 + 4 = 7 Wynd gets to the Quaffle before August. Wynd has the Quaffle.
Ruth searches for the Snitch. She must get a search roll of 5 or more in order to search successfully. Ruth = Search (D6 + Con) = 1 + 2 = 3 Ruth is not able to search successfully, so she only gets 1 search roll.
Ruth = Search = 6 6 is not the Snitch number. Ruth does not see the Snitch.
Stephen searches for the Snitch. He must get a search roll of 5 or more in order to search successfully. Stephen = Search (D6 + Con) = 2 + 3 = 5 Stephen is able to search.
Stephen = Search = 3 Stephen = Search = 2 2 is not the Snitch number and neither is 3! Stephen does not see the Snitch. (Nearly there!)

No! Wynd's hands closed around the Quaffle, to Theo's indignation. Seeing the Slytherin pull out of the dive triumphantly, he immediately flew after his fellow Sixth Year, eager to take the Quaffle from him once more. Theo couldn't let the Slytherins equal their lead. The Ravenclaw morale was high and he couldn't let them take that away from them, even if Stephen caught the Snitch before Ruth did - not that Theo doubted the Seventh Year at all. He knew she was better than the Fifth Year - not because of age but she had more experience, she was more suited to the job, was she not? Whether or not that was the case, Theo flew after Wynd in hot pursuit, swinging his arms tactically to try to take the Quaffle.

((OOC: Okay really...this is getting ridiculous...*rubs face* Three more turns at most...just three more turns))
Stephen pulled up higher in the sky, his luck of searching near the ground had been...well zilch. So he decided from this higher position maybe he'd be able to spot the snitch better. There was hardly any time left for them to get ahead. It was obvious that the only chance Slytherin stood at winning this match was if Stephen caught the snitch first. So his concentration picked up, his eyes searching the horizon, through the throngs of people in the stadium and then back to the sky. What was going on around him was little consequence to him at that moment, his mind completely focused on what he needed to do...find the snitch...and find it before the Ravenclaw seeker did.

A roar of boos landed upon his ears as he pulled out of the dive with the Quaffle in tow. But he could still hear the cheers coming from the Slytherin side of the stands. They were the only ones that mattered. Wynd guessed that most of the school would want Ravenclaw to win but he wasn't going to let that happen. There was no way that Slytherin was going to lose to a bunch of bookworms. Wynd flew as fast as his broom would take him to the Ravenclaw Keeper. He seemed ready this time. Still, would it be enough to stop the Slytherin onslaught? No. As he held onto the Quaffle he felt it trying to be pried from his hands. Looking behind him he saw Theo. "You know Theo," Wynd said to his fellow prefect with a smirk. "You're really becoming a pain." He had better ideas for the Quaffle than to hand it over to Theo.

Ah no, why did Dylan always have to get in the way of the bludgers? He'd managed to defend Wynd from the bludger Celia had hit at him, and it was now heading towards Ruth. And thanks to Mary, so was the other one too. Celia had to stay by Ruth to defend her from at least one of the bludgers, hoping that E would turn up quickly to help her - where was he? Well, anyway, she could try and defend her from Dylan's bludger, as that was closer, and then possibly get to Mary's, though she could do with the help. As the first bludger came closer, Celia tried to hit it away from Ruth, aiming it towards Stephen. It looked like he was close to seeing the snitch - she could just tell, and didn't know how, so she had to throw him off track. It was either that or hit at Wynd, who now had the quaffle, but the snitch was a more important matter. And besides, maybe E would turn up to hit the other bludger at Wynd?

((Celia attempts to defend Ruth from Dylan’s Bludger and deflect it to Stephen. Dylan = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 5 + 6 = 11 Celia = Defend (D8 + Str) = 6 + 5 = 11 Tie! Re-roll.
Dylan = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 4 + 6 = 10 Celia = Defend (D8 + Str) = 1 + 5 = 6 Dylan’s Bludger continues at Ruth.
It is assumed that Celia would warn Ruth to dodge the Bludger! Dylan = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 2 + 6 = 8 Ruth = Avoid (D8 + Dex) = 1 + 4 = 5 Dylan’s Bludger hits Ruth.
Ruth must concentrate in order to maintain her action (of dodging Mary’s Bludger), but she didn’t post so she doesn’t get her stat points for concentrating. She therefore stands no chance. So we’ll just say that Mary’s Bludger hits Ruth. Ruth has no other actions that she needs to concentrate for.
Theo attempts to steal the Quaffle from Wynd; Wynd attempts to defend it. Theo = Steal (D4 + Str) = 1 + 5 = 6 Wynd = Defend (D8 + Str) = 3 + 4 = 7 Wynd retains the Quaffle.
Wynd shoots; Edward defends the hoops. Wynd = Score (D6 + Str) = 4 + 4 = 8 Edward = Save (D6 + Dex) = 3 + 6 = 9 Edward saves the goal! Edward has the Quaffle.
Stephen searches for the Snitch. He must get a search roll of 5 or more in order to search successfully. Stephen = Search (D6 + Con) = 6 + 3 = 9 Stephen is able to search successfully.
Stephen = Search = 24 Stephen = Search = Not required. 24 is the Snitch number. Stephen sees the Snitch!))

So far the game hadn't been going great for Ed, the first goal shot at him had slipped by, giving Slytherin a quick lead. And Edward's first pass was easily intercepted. Luckily the Ravenclaw team had stepped in for him and managed to get a 2 goal lead which increased to 3 thanks to the foul that Pyro had done against August. Ed breathed a sigh of reliefe, the game really hadn't come to this side of the pitch in a while, and this game was taking forever. Ed quickly scanned the pitch, hoping to catch sight of that little golden ball so that he could alert their seeker to it. A movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and he turned just in time to see a Slytherin chaser bolt toward the hoops, and Ed was the only person left to stop him.
The Slytherin made the shot and Ed watched in slow motion as the Quaffle began to fly. Giving a slight cry of fear Ed snapped his eyes shut and felt himself inadvertantly veer to the left. "Ooof!" Exploded out of his mouth as something struck him in the stomach, hard. His eyes opened to see the Quaffle resting easily against his abdomen. He blinked in amazement and than grinned ear to ear. "Hey! I blocked the goal! I got the....." His sentance was cut short as he noticed something happening behind the distracted Ravenclaw players, the Slytherin Seeker was diving for something, something small and glinting gold. "Oh no! Hes sees the snitch!!" Ed frantically pointed toward the Seeker, it seemed like everyone had been busy watching him to see if he made the save.
Ed merely reacted out of instinct, hardly thinking about what he was doing he grabbed up the Quaffle, arched his arm back and let fly at the Slytherin Seeker's head.

Argh, so close! Theo watched helplessly as Wynd flew past him, towards the goals. He turned and hoped Edward would save it. Theo watched with bated breath as the Quaffle soared towards the younger Ravenclaw, and when it landed successfully in his arms, Theo cheered loudly. "Way to go, Edward!" He knew he had it in him; he just had to remain focused and calm. Flying forwards, Theo yelled, "Edward, I'm free!" However, when the younger boy launched the Quaffle in a completely different direction, Theo's alarmed eyes turned to see the Slytherin Seeker streaking after what he assumed was the Snitch. Here we go, Theo's thoughts were as he watched the Fifth Year racing after the golden ball. It was now or never. The end of the match was in sight - but who would win?

So she was meant to catch the Snitch immediately after being attacked directly by two large Bludgers? Was that how this was meant to happen? For a moment a flash of defeat shot through her. The Donahue kid was closer to the golden Snitch than she, Mary's Bludger had hit her and brought about a sound that had clearly told Ruth something had been broken, while Dylan's (why did he always hit the same joint?!) Bludger had yet again slammed into her shoulder. To add to this her mind was already warning her that the daft Slytherins would probably be aiming for her again. Which meant, if you put it down to simple words, that Ruth barely had a chance.
But she just had to try.
The idiotic Slytherin seeker was already going off in direction of the Snitch which gave Ruth the advantage of knowing exactly where it was. But her bones ached wearily as she urged herself and her broom through the air. Just a few more metres, a few more, just a few - before long she really was next to Donahue, much to her surprise. She was here now. Admittedly, he had the insane advantage of having all of his bones in working order while hers were probably shattered bits of rubbish being jostled inside her, every movement shifting them further and further away from where they were meant to be. It hurt. That was probably the biggest understatement Ruth had ever made. It hurt an impossible amount. She couldn't remember having ever broken anything in her time at Hogwarts. Thank you, Mary. Her mind spat in the direction of the beater.
While a war was raging in her mind and most of her body, her right hand was exempt. It stretched forwards without Ruth even knowing it was doing so - stretching to grab that stupid Snitch. Being so close to it now probably should have been a relief, a refreshment, for Ruth. But it wasn't. She was just tired, and in pain, her mind barely aware of the fact that her right arm was straining to seize the Snitch.

This was the moment Stephen had been waiting for...the glint to his right caught his attention, hazel eyes settling on the small winged object. It seemed to be waiting for him to give chase...waiting for him to have his chance at victory. A smile touched his lips as he lost all concentration on the world around him and focused all of his attention on the little golden ball that seemed to be calling his name. It's subtle movements drawing him further into a false reality, but that did not matter...the only thing that mattered was to catch the snitch before the Ravenclaw seeker...if she even existed anymore after all those bludger beatings she had taken. It did not matter now though as Stephen dove, his broom twisting around to give him a better angle at which to catch the small object.
Everything faded to a dull throbbing base in his mind...the roar of the crowd gone, the shouts from the other quidditch players, and the yells from his father's figure which consequently was in every bleacher and every stand he flew past. The hallucination had no power over him though in that moment as he reached out. This was it...he had a chance to win a game for Slytherin...he had the opportunity to find a moment of glory in a world where he had never experience anything exciting. All he had to do was catch the snitch.
It was a moment before he realized that he was no alone in this endeavor. The Ravenclaw Seeker, who looked like she had had a run in with the Whomping Willow, was beside him. Stephen didn't bother focusing on her...he was faster on his broom than she was...and with that thought he lay flatter on his broom, his arm reaching out further than hers. Trying to catch the snitch before she could...his breath caught in his throat as his hand closed...hoping the object of his desire would be within it.

This was the end of the game and finally he'd been given an opportunity to play. Some of his fellow teammates were not high on his list right now. They were playing like idiots a few of them and he would let them know that later...but right now he had to keep the seeker from getting distracted by a Quaffle that was making it's way to the kids form. Merrick shot through the sea of frozen Quidditch players, his hands reaching out to intercept the Quaffle pass and get Slytherin back into possession.

Celia was disappointed as once again a bludger from Dylan's bat went right past the end of hers, and straight into Ruth. And then E had never turned up to deflect the other one, so the seeker was hit by both bludgers - that was NOT good at all, especially at this late stage in the game! At least Wynd didn't score, so now Edward had the quaffle...but what was he doing with it?? He wasn't looking for free Ravenclaws it seemed...but it was aiming it towards the Slytherin chaser for some reason...
Wait...had Stephen seen the snitch? It definitely looked like it, and this was confirmed as Ruth, having regained her senses, flew over to him as quickly as possible, following the Slytherin boy closely, almost overtaking him at some points. It would be a close call, but those bludger hits may have somewhat harmed Ruth...so all Celia could do now was aim one of them at Stephen, hopefully knocking him out of the way of the Snitch, so it would be free for Ruth.
