Now he was on top of things. E watched his most recently defended Bludger head toward Pyro. Unfortunately he wasn't able to stop both attacks on Ruth, but Celia should have been around somewhere. He couldn't chase every Bludger. Flying in the direction of the Bludger that had just hit Ruth, E realized he couldn't let up on attacking the Slytherin Seeker. The Slytherin Beaters hadn't attacked anybody but Ruth, which seemed almost unfair. Still, it had allowed Ravenclaw to create a lead of twenty. Perhaps the Slytherin strategy wasn't paying off now, but E feared that it might win it for Slytherin in the end. Finally catching the Bludger, he swung and sent it up toward Stephen. Then, he flew off to Ruth to defend her of any future attacks. ((Attacking Stephen and sticking close to Ruth to protect her... ))

Oh yes! Celia was pleased when Pyro had been punished for barging into August like he had done, and it had turned out well for the Ravenclaws! August hadn't come off badly from the attack, and had managed to score Ravenclaws second goal of the match, though Drake didn't seem to be on the ball that time. By the time the penalty shot came (that Madam Hooch had granted after the foul) he was concentrating more, but Theo managed to prove his skills as a chaser and scored the team's third goal. She grinned in his direction as he flew past, happy that they were in the lead. Neither of the seekers seemed to be having much luck, but she hoped Ruth would see the snitch soon enough.
Celia had been more distracted than she'd hoped to be, following the drama of the penalty shot. She'd let her guard down, but luckily E hadn't - he'd defended Ruth once in that time, but it was her fault that the other girl had been hit too, which she felt guilty about. Right now, Drake was about to put the quaffle back in play, passing to Pyro by the looks of things. One of the bludgers was heading his way, and the other was being hit by E towards Stephen. There were no free bludgers as it stood, but Celia joined E by Ruth, incase one of the Slytherins decided to deflect one of them back in her direction.

"Merlin, Caoimhe!" The hiss came through her teeth as she felt the Bludger slam into her shoulder - the very same shoulder it had hit only moments before. Brilliant. The pain returned, the numbing sensation momentarily freezing her, making her stop in mid-air, reeling for a moment. That stupid, stupid beater would not leave her alone. He was not that skilled - no. Just darn lucky, and extremely, incessantly, persistent. Ruth was again determined not to let the hit show - after just a few seconds of reeling from the hit she shook her head, pushed down the knowledge that her shoulder was probably going to hate her forever, suppressed any thoughts telling her that maybe it would be best just to close her eyes and fall from her broom - and clutched her broom tighter. Whatever happened, she was determined to get that Snitch.

Williard had been cheering with the rest of his team and with the Ravenclaws in the stands as the game progressed. 30 to 10! There was a penalty shot for foul, but Williard's anger at the Slytherin who caused it immediately evaporated as in the end it was a good thing. But he still kept kind of off to the side, aa it seemed August and Theo had everything under control. But, as Drake attempted to pass the Quaffle, Pyro was hit with a Bludger. "YES!!" Williard shouted. But, now the quaffle was falling. He started for it, but stopped. He thought he ought to leave it to the other two chasers, but then again, he wanted to help his team. Clearing his mind, he sped off.

"Damnit!!" Dylan said to himself as he sped up to defend Pyro and failed. He had every intention of deflecting it to Ruth, but he just couldn't get there in time. Raising his bat, he flew after the Bludger that hit Pyro angrily. He had to admit, he was eyeing other targets. Perhaps he would give Ruth a "break" soon.

Stephen fights off a yawn...the game boring him slightly as he continues to weave through the sky in an attempt to find the snitch. Unfortunately there was still no sign of it and once again he caught sight of a bludger headed his way. Moving quickly he tried to dodge out of it's way on the left, his eyes still casting around in search of the snitch.

Once again the Ravenclaw team had managed to sneak by Drake and score. This would have never happened if Pyro had not fouled. Try as he might, Wynd could not be mad at Pyro. Wynd had been wanting to body slam Theo all game. Only for the sake of the team did he not. But he was glad that Pyro did. In his single action, he showed that the Slytherin team was not a bunch of pushovers and will not lie down and play dead. Wynd was open to receive Drake's pass but he chose to pass to Pyro instead who was at the same moment hit by a Bludger. Not to be easily distracted, this distracted Pyro enough so that he did not catch the Quaffle. That must have been quite a hit.

A sense of satisfaction washed over Ephraim as he watched his attack on Pyro successfully cause the Quaffle to be lost from Slytherin's possession. Ravenclaw might have a chance to recover the Quaffle and perhaps score another ten points. With one Bludger heading toward Stephen, and the other one now coming his and Ruth's way, Ephraim hurried to make sure that Dylan's attack couldn't get to her. If E was fast enough to keep the Bludgers headed toward Stephen, Ruth might actually get a bit of a break to try to find the Snitch.

Julian had been brought in the game again. He was shocked, but took to the air with pride. This must have meant that Mary or Drake one considered him at least decent in the game.
Julian positioned himself on his broom and made his way toward his fellow chasers. Perhaps he could make himself useful again.

Theo's heart leapt uncomfortably. Slytherin had almost gained possession of the Quaffle, but as luck would have it - or rather, E's beating abilities - it was knocked clean out of Pyro's hands. Theo had missed intercepting Drake's pass before, so he was glad of his fellow classmate's backup. He was about to fly forward to catch the Quaffle before the Slytherin Chasers, but Williard, who had yet managed to do much during the match, dived for it. Theo held back to watch the outcome of his tussle with Wynd and hoped the younger boy would prevail. He saw E zip past him. "Nice shot," he yelled to his friend with a grin.

Post by Mary Evans on Feb 15, 2009 5:08:48 GMT
Mary supervised the game from her vantage point. It wasn't going bad, but it wasn't going good either. It seemed the Ravenclaws were getting too much past her team. The foul called on the Slytherins hadn't helped either. Wynd did have the quaffle back; so, things seemed to be looking up for the moment anyway. The captain had been itching to get into the action. The beater's bat was starting to feel heavy in her hand as if it begged to be swung. That opportunity soon presented itself as she saw Ephraim deflect a bludger towards Stephen. She quickly ran in to protect her player.

It seemed that Mary had made a return into the game as E watched her defend his most recent attack on Stephen. There was still another free Bludger though, so he figured he could keep her busy since she was clearly going to be sending them back at Ruth anyways. Might as well make this a challenge. Remembering what they had learned at the most recent Quidditch Skills Cup challenge, Ephraim flew straight toward the Bludger and then hit it backwards in the direction of Stephen. The Bludger Backbeat... he was anxious to see how well it would work in a real game setting. ((Bludger Backbeat attack on Stephen. )

Wynd smirked at the young Ravenclaw as he snatched the Quaffle before the other boy did. Maybe next time kid, he thought, probably not though. The Quaffle had been spending too much time near the Slytherin goal it was time to visit the Ravenclaw Keeper. Wynd turned his broom and flew off in that direction all the while thinking whether it was better to pass to Julian or to Pyro. Pyro was of course Pyro and Julian had married a Gryffindor. Pyro it was. Quickly looking around him, he saw the older Slytherin. Making eye contact with him, Wynd threw the Quaffle.

Stephen realized when the game became more intense...the moment he became the main target for the Ravenclaw beaters. Luckily for him, he was quick...dodging one bludger he bolted back up into the sky trying to get away from the attacks, his eyes straining to catch sight of the snitch that would end the game and allow Slytherin to win. Of course he'd seen nothing yet and that was extremely frustrating. He just hoped he'd be able to find it before he was tagged by a bludger.

Brilliant. Ruth smirked the moment she saw her beaters aim at Stephen- and successfully. "Now, Ruth. Now!" She hissed to herself, not even realising she was doing so out loud and not in fact inside her own head. With the Bludgers elsewhere and her main opponent distracted she ducked her head lower, eyes tightening at the corners while she yet again scoured the skies. Her fingers absent mindedly massaged her shoulder while she did so, assessing the bruising. At least nothing had been broken - she knew, with Dylan's strong arm, it was likely something would be cracked, smashed or shattered at some point in this game. Hopefully Eades and Celia would be consistent in their beating as they were now to protect her.

Wynd had the Quaffle. Pyro had the Quaffle. The game was fast, but it had been a while since they had started and he could tell players were beginning to tire. He himself felt his limbs ache in the cold wind. Steeling himself for a lengthy match that would not end until someone had caught the Snitch, Theo raced after Pyro's figure. He was going to score, no doubt. Theo flung himself in front of the Slytherin, not at all scared by the older boy, and threw his arms out to grab the Quaffle. It was his.

Stephen had successfully dodged the last bludger attack on him, but he had also caught sight of the next bludger headed his way. This was getting ridiculous. Hopefully one of his beaters would defend him so he could continue his search for the snitch. The sooner he found it the sooner the game would be over and that's all that mattered right now. He wasn't about to lose concentration due to some overachieving Ravenclaw beater who felt they were all that and a bag of cookies. Stephen dove down trying to get out of the way of the bludger while he searched the skies.
