Riley's chest was beginning to hurt a bit, so she didn't remain as active in the game as she usually was. Soon the pain went away, at least for a little bit so Riley decided she might as well get her head back in the game and try and make another score. She sped up in her broom and looked around. Slytherin was now in the lead, which was quite unfortunate, but hopefully that wouldn't last for long. If the seeker found the snitch soon, the game could be over with and Gryffindor would be victorious. But Riley couldn't count on the seeker catching the snitch before Slytherin did. Her goal was to score enough goals so that even without the snitch, Gryffindor could win. It didn't happen often, but Riley hoped that this game would be one of the few times it did. Riley glanced at Scott, noticing he was about to pass the Quaffle her way. There was a Slytherin chaser near her getting ready to intercept, but Riley hoped she'd miss the ball. There wasn't enough time to try and get in front of her and take the Quaffle before it flew past both of them. Thankfully, the Slytherin failed to steal the Quaffle and the ball landed gracefully in her hands. She tucked the Quaffle under her arm and observed the keeper as she got into a position to score. Once she was flying around the highest post, Riley raised her arm to score toward the right post but at the last second she hurled the ball as hard and as accurately as she could into the left.

"Bloody Hell!" Cass screamed as Josephine slammed into Melody. Cass could hear the impact from her perch near the goals. Cringing inwardly, she watched as the little seeker kept on chugging along to fine the snitch. "Madame Hooch! Didn't you see that? You should be calling her out!" Cass wasn't sure if the referee heard her, but that was ridiculous! A blind man could see that it was a foul. Worried over Melody, Cass only saw in the corner of her eye the bludger hitting Julian. Her heart pained her as she saw him reel from the hit. She had ordered that hit, and now she regretted it. She yearned to go help her husband, but she couldn't leave her post. She had to defend her goals. "Oh god," she choked, "Julian, get out of the game!" Julian would know she ordered that attack. She only hoped that he would forgive her.
Now, Riley had the quaffle. She should be happy, but her heart was suddenly out of the game. Too many people were getting hurt now! She was losing her cool in a way she had never had before.

Watching the game go on Mary noticed her seeker, probably frustrated at being pestered by so many bludgers, knock into her Gryffindor counterpart. Mary smirked, she was counting on Slytherin spirit to take them through this game, and with the chasers out of possession Josephine’s spirit was certainly a great thing. Bludgers, bludgers, everywhere apparently though, and often near her seeker. With a small sigh of resignation Mary went in to defend Josephine and maybe add injury to insult for that Gryffindor kid.

All in all the game was no longer a complete travesty, as far as Adalia could tell. People were generally doing what they needed to do, including herself. This was really her first quidditch game and she had yet to do anything too wrong really; nothing at all actually. Of course it was time to be tested once more as the Gryffindor chasers were on her with that red ball in their grubby little hands.
Watching her carefully Adalia saw the chaser’s eyes flicking here there and everywhere, deciding where best to shoot and how best to get past herself. Best to watch the eyes really, than watch where the hands went… At the last second Adalia picked a direction and lunged for the ball…

Josephine couldn't help the pride that gleamed in her eyes as she heard the call from Gryffindor's captain to call a foul. Really it hadn't been her fault, she merely hadn't seen her. The words came to mind immediately and she nearly laughed at them as she darted back past Logton/Blackfire/Fallon...Oh....LBF...that'll be the new nickname. Save me from having to hyphen, anotheer smirk came to her face as she jerked her eyes in the direction of the bludger that was flying at her. She rolled her eyes, how many were they gonna send at her this game, she'd already been hit by two...or was it three? Ugh...the fact that she didn't even remember what number bludger this was, was reason enough to be annoyed. She counted on Mary's sudden move to defend her, though she was ready to roll out of the way if she had to.
All in all Josephine was more concerned with the glint she'd seen in the distance...it was a flash, bright and then gone before she could even blink. Was it the snitch? There wasn't much time if it was and with that thought she bolted to the other side, hoping what she'd just caught a glimpse of was the snitch. This game was long due to be over and Josephine was dead set on Slytherin winning, if this was the snitch she had seen there was a good possibly that she would catch it first.

Melody shook her head and shook some spunk back into herself as she . The Slytherin Seeker was a nasty piece of work, but Melody couldn't allow Josephine's horrible tactics (wait, that wasn't the right way round - she understood that, since she appeared to have got away with it despite Cassandra's outrage, they were not necessarily bad tactics, just tactics of being horrible) to compromise Gryffindor's chances of winning this all-important game. She had to find the Snitch even more now. Now it was not just for team and house pride. It was for Melody's own honour. She wanted to show everyone - including herself - that she wasn't a helpless young girl who couldn't recover from one physical knock and its unexpectedly serious mental repercussions. She also didn't want to allow Josephine - who hadn't done her character any credit in most people's eyes - the satisfaction of catching the Snitch. She'd had the satisfaction of slamming into Melody in order to disconcert her. She'd not have anything else to give her pleasure today; no, she would not be catching the Snitch, because Melody would be catching it first. The young Gryffindor was unusually fired up by the circumstances, and she scanned the sky diligently, completely alert.
((Ah would go and give Josephine a good whack for entertainment value... but it wouldn't be in character for me ickle Melody - she's surprisingly mild. So Ah'm just being extra determined in searchin' fer t'Snitch.))

She almost didn't notice it. Only the sound of the collision caused Xiomara to jerk her head in the right direction to witness Josephine Bowman ramming into tiny little Melody Bang-Bala. Xiomara had never been the sympathetic sort, but even she felt this was quite vindictive of the fifth year Slytherin Seeker. Melody was only in third year, and the smallest as well as youngest player on the pitch; she was sure the Gryffindors would be feeling every inch of injustice, watching their poor Seeker being pushed around like that - certainly, Miss Fallon was feeling angry. Xiomara ignored her cries of protest. Honestly. Some captains could be so... passionate about Quidditch - too much so. She was the referree, she would deal with fouls in her own time. Shaking her head in annoyance, Xiomara paused the game briefly to fly towards the two Seekers. "Miss Bowman, I hope I do not need to remind you that that was absolutely unnecessary conduct on your behalf. Your job is to find the Snitch - leave the injuries to your Beaters. You will not get away with such a light caution next time." She gazed sternly into the eyes of Josephine, then turned a more concerned one on Melody. "I trust you are in one piece and ready to continue, Miss Bang-Bala?" she asked, doing a quick scan of the girl to make sure she was uninjured. "Good. Then let us continue this match. Remember, Miss Bowman: I catch you one more time fouling Miss Bang-Bala, or anyone else for that matter, and I will award Gryffindor with a penalty."

As he and Riley neared the goal posts, Scott tried to do his best to keep the Slytherin Chasers away. Much to his relief, they didn't seem to have enough time to catch up to Riley. Soon enough, Scott watched as an attempted goal was made and then before he knew it, Gryffindor was then tied with Slytherin. Riley had scored! "Now that's how we do it!" he shouted, giving Riley a smile as the Slytherin Keeper begrudgingly took hold of the Quaffle. Perhaps he could keep the momentum on their side...
Scott had his eyes on the Quaffle even before the Keeper had time to think about passing. Once again, he was close enough that if he gained control he might be able to take a quick shot on goal. The last time he had stolen the Quaffle so close to the posts he then failed to make the shot, but he was confident this time that'd he'd be able to give Gryffindor another lead if he were to intercept the pass.
A sudden swoop downward, and he reached his hand out. His fingers graced the leather of the Quaffle, but was it enough to prevent the pass from making it to the Slytherin Chaser?

Josephine muttered several curses under her breath when she got near where she'd seen the flash, a small Gryffindor first year with a camera made her growl. Bloody Gryffindors she thought to herself as she wheeled back around and took off for another pass around the pitch. This was getting ridiculous. She needed to find that snitch. She had to win this game for Slytherin. They hadn't won the Quidditch cup in years and she was not about to let them lose their very first game. Blue eyes narrowed as they strained to find the little golden ball, every now and then glancing around to see if a bludger was headed her way as they seemed to be every few seconds.

Post by Wynd Lehane on Nov 9, 2008 4:27:45 GMT
It was luck. It was pure luck that Wynd had glanced at Jo as she slammed into the Gryffindor Seeker. The crash made quite a noise as even Cassandra noticed it. Wynd tried his hardest to hold back the laughter, he really did. But the chuckles and giggles spilled out of his mouth as he saw the not-so-innocent look on Jo's face. It wasn't her fault that Melody wasn't looking where she was going. It's not like Jo did it on purpose. Of course the other team would never believe that. The griffins were always looking for a reason to mad at Slytherin. They just wanted to be angry. It gave them a purpose in life. Wynd flew close to Jo and gave her a smirk. "Nice Jo, better work on those flying skills." She had a job to do, he couldn't distract her for too long. Gryffindor had just scored as he was trying to flirt. He kicked himself and flew toward the Slytherin goal. Scott was trying to steal the Quaffle before Adalia had a chance to do anything with it. "What are you doing, Scoot?" he yelled at the Gryffindor Chaser. "You can't steal from the Keeper!"

Adalia took a moment for stunned silence before launching herself after the red ball. For goodness sakes! Apparently the girl’s constantly moving eyes had Adalia zooming off in the wrong blooming direction! She would get her back for that, nobody throws off a St John, especially in front of such a crowd, with such stakes at hand. Smirking, because there was no way Adalia would let a grimace mar her features, Adalia turned back to the game, quaffle in hand. Letting her eyes flash cruelly for a moment over the chaser who had scored Adalia grinned. Then watching for flashes of green she saw Wynd nearby, yelling at someone in red who was in the scoring area without the quaffle, a foul.
((Passing to Wynd. As well, is Scott trying to intercept? As far as I understand the canon rules you cannot steal from the keeper…))

Melody nodded glumly in response to Madam Hooch. She didn't feel all right, actually, but she couldn't exactly argue with the referee. "Jus' aboot," she replied, adding in her head 'No thanks to t'pair o' thee.' She shrugged and flew off, not wanting to stay near either the referee, or indeed, especially, Josephine, any longer. She'd get on with what she was here to do. She did have something to cheer about, though - Riley had just scored for Gryffindor. Melody cheered for her teammate, and as she did so caught sight of a flash in the crowd. It might have been someone's bracelet flashing as they waved their arms in celebration of Riley's goal. But it might be something much more special. Josephine didn't look as though she'd seen the Snitch yet - that was comforting. Melody whooshed off on her broom to investigate.

Another hiss erupted from Oscar as Josephine dodged his Bludger. This was really starting to irritate him and his brow creased inwards as he chased after the purple offender swiftly, not wasting a second. And again, he was going to send it back to Bowman. But he couldn't help feeling a little tired of this routine. Nothing was sparking up in this game- sure, the excitement was there and they certainly didn't need anymore emotion or passion. But the Quaffle was going nowhere, each goal being matched by the other team. The seekers weren't finding anything. The Bludgers weren't getting anywhere. So do something about it, Flynn! Right. With another powerful swing, Oscar launched the Bludger that the seeker had just escaped from back at her- yet again.

Yes! “Awesome Riley!’ Casey cheered as the chaser scored. Yes. They were closer now. Gryffindor needed to get as many goals as possible before one of the seekers caught the snitch. In Hogwarts games, it was rare to get as many goals needed to not catch the snitch and still win the game, but it was possible. Casey sped up quickly nearing the Slytherin hoops. The Slytherin Keeper made her pass to a Slytherin chaser and Casey took off. She wanted to steal the quaffle back as quickly as possible. Two goals back to back would be awesome and that was exactly what Casey was going for. She shook her head as the wind caught her hair and took off. Casey quickly caught up to the Wynd, another Slytherin Chaser. Hopefully she could steal the quaffle, but if not, she was sure one of her team mates could intercept any passes made,

Julian couldn't believe that a simple blow from a bludger had shaken him so bad that he had lost track of the game. He finally shook himself back to his own senses and realized that there was a game playing around him. He took off on his broom, pulling himself up beside Wynd. He looked toward his team mate, hoping that Wynd would realize that Julian was now himself again. He wasn't going to keep playing so horribly. Gryffindor was caught up with them now, and although the game was in no way a winner for Julian, regardless of the outcome, he wanted to do his best.

Another failed attempt to take the Quaffle back for Gryffindor left Scott a bit frustrated. He was starting to to tire out as well from all of the back and forth. At least both teams were even though, but they had been going at it for a while now. Of course, that's what Quidditch was, a game of going through the motions, trial and error, enduring to see which team could outlast the other team. And then it all ended with one simple catch of the Snitch. For now though, Scott just needed to focus on another attempt to get back the Quaffle. He was surprised that more of his dreams didn't revolved around Quaffles haunting him. During the matches it seemed that every thought revolved around the coveted red ball.
Trying to catch up to Wynd before he could fly too far away, Scott found it more difficult to press against his wooden broom handle. He gritted through the lack of energy though and found himself flying next to Wynd. He had the urge to say some snide remark, but Scott knew he needed to just focus on stealing and not on angering Wynd. Of course if he angered him, perhaps Scott could influence Wynd's ability to focus and thus make it easier to steal. No. He'd just use his energy to steal... if he could.
As he was about the grab the Quaffle, Scott saw Casey on the other side of Wynd. She was trying to steal too. Then, Julian came out of nowhere. There seemed to be a huddle of anxious Chasers, all with the hopes of getting or keeping the Quaffle. Insetad of trying to steal, Scott decided to stay nearby and try to prevent Wynd from passing so that Casey might be able to steal.

Kailyn had a disgusted look on her face as she watched Riley fly away with the Quaffle and then score another goal for Gryffindor. As much as she hated to admit it, it seemed that the rest of the Chasers were all playing just a bit better than she was. Scott and Riley for Gryffindor seemed to be up against Wynd and Julian for Slytherin. It frustrated Kailyn that she had yet to make a significant difference. She knew what she was supposed to do, and she was always where she needed to be. For some reason though, she just couldn't find a way to be an effective force for Slytherin. Thought it was her first game, Kailyn hated that she needed an excuse for her less than stellar performance.
Oh well, keep trying. Kailyn wasn't one to give up easily. Adalia has passed to Wynd, and Kailyn followed the crowd of Chasers who were gathering around the action, a mass of players flying almost as one unit toward the Gryffindor hoops. She watched as two of the Gryffindor Chasers tried to sandwich Wynd and somehow take the Quaffle for their own. With Julian flying on one side, Kailyn decided to fly above the crowd. Perhaps Wynd could have an easier pass upward than in any other direction. Maybe if he was desperate, he'd pass to her.

Still nothing, Josephine muttered to herself as she slipped in and out between the quidditch stands. She was getting bored again and upset that there hadn't been any sign of the snitch. She'd even kept her eyes trained on Melody for awhile trying to make the younger seeker do her job for her, but there was nothing, not even a dive to inspire much hope that the snitch would appear. Really she was getting frustrated, but she had every intention of catching that blasted ball, even if it meant a few broken bones to secure herself in the hospital wing later. Just as long as Slytherin won she could care less.
With that Josephine pulled up and back into the sky, her eyes catching sight of yet another bludger that was being sent her way. She growled a little in annoyance at that. The unnoticed pain from the last two caught her attention and she cursed under her breath for the annoyance of the reminder. She half hoped one of her beaters would save her, but realized that wasn't quite going to happen, or they might miss, so she took off through the sky attempting to dodge it as she continued her search.
