Whatever had caused the flash turned out not to be at all interesting. Or at least, if it had been the Snitch, the Snitch was there no longer - of course, this came as a great surprise to Melody. No one would have suspected her for a moment of having gone to investigate with any amount of cynicism. In all honesty, she knew that there were plenty of shiny things to be encountered in the course of a match. And out of all those shiny things, only one was the Snitch. She glanced over to Josephine, but saw to her great happiness and relief that the Slytherin Seeker's searching seemed to be yielding as few results as Melody's own search. Melody put one hand on her side, which was still throbbing a bit from when Josephine had deliberately collided with her, and moved a little more into the centre of the pitch. There was a Bludger heading towards Josephine; Gryffindor's Beaters had been keeping Melody safe from those for quite a while now. So Melody had a slight advantage for the moment in that there shouldn't be anything to distract her. But if there was nothing in sight to be distracted from, it wasn't going to help much. She just hoped that the Snitch might soon decide it was time to allow the game to end. She'd be watching for it when it did.

Yes! Somehow through all the madness Casey managed to grab the quaffle from the Slytherin Chaser. She smiled slightly before taking off to the Slytherin goals. Casey stared straight ahead. She didn’t want anything to break her focus. She clutched her broomstick tightly. The game was tied now. Whoever caught the snitch would win. Casey hoped Melody was making some progress but there was no time to think about that. As Casey neared the hoops she realized that it was actually possible for her to score. She didn’t see any of her teammates open nor did she see too many obstacles to her way. With that, Casey took a sharp breath and gained more speed. Hopefully she could shoot for an easy goal.

((Oscar, do you mind going back and filling in that post from the last page so everything is there? Thanks ) Goodness, now Gryffindor had scored once again and her seeker had to avoid a bludger on her own because Mary was too busy seeing what in blazes the chasers and keeper, St John, seemed to be doing decent and had an okay spirit for the game, but Mary could see Pyro watching from the bench as though he thought he could have done better. Why not give him a shot, no point keeping the girl in all game. Mary was so glad to have reserves for the game this year, made it a lot easier and she could move people around without putting others in positions they didn’t like. All in all she had gotten a pretty well rounded team, she believed, besides the infighting. Keepers dealt with Mary turned her attention to making the other seeker run, only fair for the bludger sent at her team while she was busy. Finding a bludger not too far Mary hurled it out towards the red blur she knew to be Melody. ((Subbing in Pyro for Adalia, effective immediately, I will change the lists. Pyro groaned from the benches every time Gryffindor seemed to outplay the Slytherin side. Pyro still hadn't really recovered his status from last year when he had lost his starting position due to a short depression he had dipped into. Still, Pyro was one of the oldest and longest member on the current team, he deserved to be out there, but it seemed like the captains didn't feel he was ready or committed enough for that yet. Pyro spat on the ground, what did they know about commitment, if it hadn't been for the untimely death of his father Pyro would currently be shooting for a career in pro Quidditch, but that ship had flown, so now his only chance to really enjoy the sport was during this last year in school.
Pyro watched as the keeper allowed another Gryffindor goal and he winced. Keeper wasn't exactly his position, but he knew that he could outplay the current girl they had covering the position. Hell the girl was only a fourth year, she shouldn't be out there with yet with such an important game on the line. Pyro chuckled at this thought, for he had been starting in his first game during his third year. Pyro glanced over at Mary and noticed her signaling him in, there was a moment of confusion though as he noticed she was motioning for him to take the Keeper position. Keeper? That wasn't his strongest spot. He sighed, at least he was in the game.
PYro hopped onto his broom and flew up into the sky, slapping Adalia's hand as she left he field and quickly took his position in front of the goals. No sooner had he reached the spot that he noticed one of the Gryffindor Chasers break free and make a beeline for the Slytherin goals. Pyro growled, mostly at his anger at the failure of the slytherin chasers to stop this girl, now it was up to him. Pyro bent low, his eyes studying the approaching figure carefully, reading every muscle movement she made so that he could defend against her shot.

The crowd roared as the Gryffindor team scored once again. The game was now tied at twenty points each. Cassandra floated on the back of her broom with her back as stiff as a board. She continued to watch the quaffle float through the air on the arms of the chasers. Casey currently had the quaffle, and that was just fine with her. She eyed her cousin Pyro across the pitch. He didn't normally play keeper; so, it was surprising to see Mary put him as guard over the goalposts. They had lived together for two years, and she never remembered Pyro mentioning once about wanting to play keeper. Actually, this was his first time on the pitch in over a year. He hadn't been much into quidditch since Charles' death. She was glad that he was out here. Maybe he was finally healing over the loss.

He had no idea how it happened. It just did. One moment he was catching the Quaffle and flying toward the other end of the pitch, the next the Quaffle had been stolen. It was almost as if he had been confunded. As if someone from the crowd had pointed their wand at him and confused him. He blinked a few times to make sure he was all right. His actions had just gotten the Quaffle stolen. He cursed inwardly and wondered if this was the same thing that had happened to Julian. He really wanted to take out his wand and cast a silencing spell on the crowd. But there was no time for that. He had to get the Quaffle back.

Josephine had stopped paying attention to the game, well not the entire game just the actions of her fellow team mates. They seemed to be pulling some idiotic moves...or lack there of, of intelligent moves. Jo was just concerned with catching the snitch...that's all she wanted. This was her big game, the day she was going to prove to the rest of the Slytherins that she was not some girl involved in her studies. She was a real Slytherin, just because her sister was dying didn't mean that she was any less of a Slytherin than the rest of them. And she'd tried to prove that earlier with her slam into the Gryffindor seeker...at the moment she was thinking of having another go at the girl, but she was too caught up in looking for the snitch to bother with such a triffle, even if it had been fun the first time.

Melody sighed a little. Still no Snitch? Cassandra might lose patience with her soon... but she didn't want to be taken out of the Seeker position. She was keen to learn and gain experience, and keen to succeed for her team, and herself. She glanced down to the Slytherin goalhoops where a lineup change had been made; one of the most intimidating Slytherin seventh years, Pyro Blackfire, had replaced the girl who had been there before. She didn't see the Snitch anywhere around there, though. Melody peered downwards, her eyes scanning the pitch quickly. She wasn't interested in the green and scarlet blurs of Chasers. She was somewhat interested in the Bludger she saw coming towards her. She got prepared to dodge... a Bludger hit would be nasty, and she didn't need it at this point in the game either.

"Merlin's beard, can you not stay still for one moment?!" Oscar grit his teeth angrily as the seeker dodged yet again another Bludger. This time no Slytherin beater flew in to protect her as he had expected- it was entirely her call. Something definitely had to be done to weaken the girl's movements and he was more than happy to be the one to bring that about. But first, he had to save his own seeker- a Bludger had found it's way onto Mary's bat, where she was attempting to whack it Melody's way.
It wasn't long before Oscar directed his broom closer to his team's seeker. Once there, he ran a quick glance over the younger girl. Bowman's foul- which Hooch definitely should have thrown her off the pitch for, in Oscar's view- hadn't knocked her from her broom. Oscar' hadn't had the time to check on the seeker when the foul had been made and hoped she was alright. It wasn't going to be in Gryffindor's favour of their seeker couldn't lift an arm. He noticed that as the Bludger from the Slytherin captain headed her way, Melody automatically began rolling swiftly out of the way to dodge it. He couldn't imagine how hard it must be for the seekers, trying to track that tiny ball in the massive pitch, with chasers, Bludgers and balls flying all over the place while they attempted it.
For him, things were simple. You seized your bat firmly in both arms. You steadied your broom in front of the Bludger's supposed target. And then you hit the thing with all of your might. Oscar did so only moments later, curving his hit so that the Bludger might head off in the direction he wanted- and it was pretty obvious where that direction might be.

Not again! Scott watched as Slytherin took back the Quaffle that Casey had just stolen. She had been so close to having a chance to score too. Well, if Scott could help it, he'd do his damnedest to get the Quaffle back and make sure that Gryffindor got the points they deserved. It seemed as though they had been keeping the Quaffle more toward the Slytherin hoops, yet the score suggested that the teams were playing equally. Scott wanted to believe that Gryffindor had the edge.
Before Wynd could get far with the Quaffle, Scott flew straight at him, having acquired a new burst of energy. By this point in the match, his energy seemed to be coming and going in spurts since he'd been in the whole time. He didn't want substituted out though, so he kept pushing himself as hard as he could. Bumping up against Wynd, not intentionally but just the natural sort of contact that could be expected when fighting for the Quaffle, Scott reached for it and tried to take it from Wynd's grip. Perhaps he was a little out-strengthened, but Scott could hold his own, and if he was fortunate, he'd come away with the Quaffle and cause the fourth or fifth quick turnover in a row which would only add to the back and forth battle.

Cass tapped her fingers against her broom. She had been bobbing up and down in front of the goal posts for quite some time now. She was itching to get back into the game. She wanted action, and she wanted it now. She had placed herself in the keeper position because of her 'condition.' It bothered her to watch Julian staring at her with eyes wide open; hoping that she didn't get hurt by a wayward bludger. Still, it saddened her that she was in this situation. She loved quidditch for the action! It was so much more fun than muggle sports. It was the first sport she had ever gotten interested in, and it was the first one she ever played.
Her wish was about to come true. Slytherin took possession of the quaffle, and Wynd was now flying towards her goal posts. There was no way she was going to let another quaffle get past her. She dove to her left, hoping to intercept the quaffle.

Josephine couldn't stop the smirk that fell across her face when she saw that bludger hit that little Gryffindor seeker. It was all too good as she swung back around and bolted back the other way in search of the snitch that seemed to be forever hiding from her. As long as she found it before that bloody Gryffindor she didn't care. She wasn't going down without a fight. That was all that mattered to her. There was no way she'd be responsible for the Slytherins losing their very first game this season. No...that wasn't happening.

He had it! He had the Quaffle! It was so simple to steal the Quaffle back from the same Chaser that had stolen it from him. It was like she wanted him to steal it. This gave Wynd an idea. Mary had told him that the Chasers needed to work as a team. What if the Gryffindor Chasers didn't work as a team? If he was going to do something the time would be now. "Thanks for your help Casey," he said to her as loudly as he could so that Scott could hear him. "Slytherin will never forget your contribution." He smiled and flew toward the Gryffindor goal. Scott was next to him before he reached them though. Another idea came to him... Scott lightly bumped into him as was common for Chasers to do but Wynd wanted a scene. When Scott bumped into him, Wynd jerked his broom hard the other way. He added a barrel roll for extra effect. "Blimey Scoot! You didn't have to hit me so hard!" He yelled hoping to get Madam Hooch's attention. When Scott came up to him again, Wynd jerked his broom the other direction again to make it appear the Scott had hit him hard. "And they say that Slytherins are the cheaters!" he spat at Scott.

Too late she saw that Oscar had failed to defend her, as she heard his shout of warning. She'd assumed that she would be safe when she'd seen him coming to protect her, and had turned her attention back to looking for the Snitch. She moved as swiftly as she could to try to avoid the Bludger, but although she managed to get her upper body out of its path, it still knocked her pretty hard on the shin of her right leg. It was a particularly sensitive area and it hurt. Had Melody been on the ground, Melody would have been hopping up and down while clutching her leg tenderly. Since she was fifty feet up in the air, she was a little disabled from the former action, but she clutched her leg for all she was worth, muttering "Ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow...". All in all, it was very distracting, and she eventually realised that she was allowing herself to waste time while Josephine was still looking for the Snitch! She gave her leg a sympathetic rub, thinking ruefully of the purple bruise that would definitely be there by tonight, and focused once more on finding the Snitch: it was more important than a bruise.

Rex winced. He was watching Oscar defend Melody but then ended up watching her get hit by a Bludger. Cass had asked him to defend Melody but Oscar seemed to be doing a great job so he didn't worry. "Don't worry about it mate," Rex called to Oscar. Both of the Bludgers were free at the moment so Rex had his pick of which one to choose and where to send them. He reasoned the closest one was best. Following his captain's wishes, he sent a Bludger at one of the Slytherin Chasers.

Josephine was now just flying in circles around the pitch, her eyes focused on the world around her. She wasn't about to let that snitch get by her this time. There was so much that Josephine needed to do in those moments to keep herself from getting too preoccupied to find the snitch, but she would still glance back at the game, try to follow it. Besides she wasn't just keeping a look out for the snitch, no her eyes were always focused on the Gryffindor seeker. she wasn't going to let that girl get the snitch...not if she could help it.

No Snitch yet? No matter. It must turn up soon. Melody thought they'd been playing for at least an hour, maybe an hour and a half. The game always seemed intensive and fast-paced, but time did go by once you were playing it and her cheeks felt cold with the wind. She was starting to forget the pain that the Bludger had brought with it - she wouldn't remember it until she accidently put pressure on the bruise that evening - and she was completely focused on looking for the Snitch. Some things did just fall out of the sky, and the Snitch ought to be one of them. She would be there to catch it when it did.
