Asteria took a deep breath as she caught the Quaffle, and stopped Ivy's goal attempt. It felt good that she had kept her head through all the unecessary nonsense that was going on. But, she would pride herself later. Looking around, she had seen Mary switch positions with Wynd, making him Beater and she, chaser. She waited until Mary got close, and out of the corner of her eye, saw a Bludger heading straight for her. ''Uh oh.''

Wynd was quite surprised and pleased when Mary flew up to him and handed him the Beater Bat. He was having little to no success as a Chaser so being a Beater would be a fun change of pace. The Hufflepuffs wasted no time with the penalty shot and sent Bludgers flying at the Slytherin team. One was heading toward Payton who Wynd had no intention of saving. He didn't want to go against Mary's wishes. He was slightly ashamed that he had let his anger get the best of him but now with the bat in his hand he could channel that anger in another way. The other Bludger was heading toward Asteria. Who was the nearest Hufflepuff? Miss Harmony Chan was racing to intercept the Quaffle. We have a winner.

Ivy didn't score another time; he could tell from the collective sigh of disappointment from the crowd of yellow in the stands. They were still going strong though and Charles didn't want to be the weak link on the team. Despite the scorching heat of the June sun and the drops of sweat that seemed to be seeping out of every pore in his body Charles still had a lot of fight in him. He flew around and around the pitch, hoping and convincing himself he was going to see a flash of gold.

Ivy hung her head - she'd missed. If she'd scored, they'd have only been one goal away from sharing third place with Ravenclaw. As it was, they were still two goals away from that, and three goals away from not being last in the standings. She looked around until she spotted Charlie above looking very conscientious, and she smiled at the sight, even though she couldn't distract him right now to go and tell him how glad she was that he was there and concentrating on the game. It must be very bright for him; she'd have to see if she could find him a pair of sunglasses when Madam Hooch gave them a break... although she didn't know enough about the Seeker position to know if they might ultimately become a hindrance. She wouldn't mind some sunglasses herself, right now.
Harmony, reliable as always, had already positioned herself admirably to intercept Asteria's pass, so Ivy allowed herself to relax a little and tried to forget her aching side - the pain hadn't yet passed. Penalty shots did require someone to get hurt first, and in this case it had been her. Oh well. Ivy used her little break to assess the performance of her individual team members. Overall, she thought that they'd been doing pretty well. Chace had, perhaps, been a little quiet as Chaser, which was disappointing because Ivy personally thought that was his best position. But perhaps she should try him as Beater for a bit. Bryce and Ash had been absolutely excellent, but Ivy was a bit worried about the change in the Slytherin lineup - she didn't really want her friends in the firing line of someone who was angry with them after whatever that argument had been about which she'd been too busy to take much notice of.
With a glance down at the players lined up on the bench, she was decided. Ivy flew up to Madam Hooch and informed her that she wished to change the Hufflepuff lineup. "I'd like to substitute Bryce and Ashley out, please," she said, glancing towards her friends, "and put Chace Coxen and Randy Kerr in their places. I'd also like to bring Kael Collins in as Chaser."

Well there you had it; Mary was in the position of a chaser again, not where she liked to be but useful enough, especially if Wynd could use up some of that anger so he could come back with a clear head. Of course Ivy, typical Hufflepuff tactics, took out the players Wynd was upset with. That was fine with Mary though, Slytherin would probably be better off without Bryce playing, the amount of effort he had been putting in.
But now Mary was even more not where she wanted to be; Payton was following her like a puppy dog or some such. At least she had the quaffle so she could do something useful. “Hey, kid,” she shouted at Payton who was close by her “go do your job and shoot! Leave me be.” With that Mary released the red ball in Payton’s direction hoping he would get his head back in the game before Mary had to take him out of it.

The game seemed to be dubbing down on the anger now, the whole Slytherin Team had stopped their rile with the Hufflepuffs and was now trying it's best to get on with the game, Payton wondered if the Captain would every let Payton play beater in this match, he really didn't want to wait a whole summer to hit a ball at someone, then came the quaffle and he reached to catch it

Caleb can only shake his head at the young Slytherins outburst. He didn't know what he was talking about at all. The thing with being a Slytherin is he had to know when to attack, when to figure out when to fight and when to backstab. The kid was ridiculous and all Caleb could do was shake his head, smirking at the stupidity. Of course there would be far more done to him later if Tunstall made the shot. They played rough when Madam Hooch wasn't watching, not when she was staring straight at them. It seemed however though that Mary was going to take his suggestion seriously as she touched his arm as she passed. It would be good to throw Laslie out of the game for his inability to control himself, but Caleb would leave that decision up to Evans.
As for Wynd, Caleb thought it was a good switch. Give him a club and he'd take out half the Hufflepuff team. The kid had spirit and was a good shot, so Caleb nodded his appreciation at the switch as he watched the penalty shot go. Greengrass caught it, much to the Slytherins happiness at not having to catch up by 20. Mary was now in possession and Caleb took off for the Hufflepuff side waiting for a pass, watching at the attempted pass to Laslie, hopefully he'd actually catch the quaffle and not drop it or barrel into anyone else during the match.

Bloody hell! The Bludger slipped right past Wynd like he was not even there to try and stop it. As the ball rushed past him he glanced over his shoulder and watched Asteria easily avoid the oncoming Bludger. The girl could take care of herself, Wynd thought to himself. Chasing after the Bludger that had missed his teammate, Wynd looked for Alexander. Wynd was going to enjoy hitting a ball square at him. Looking all over, he found Alexander on the bench. Ivy must've switched him out as soon as his back was turned. Argh! just like a Hufflepuff to be cowardly. At least Alexander could no longer wreck havoc on the pitch. Still, the whole reason Mary let Wynd be a Beater was so that he could take his anger out on Alexander. Guess it would just have to be another Hufflepuff.

The sky was so blue. Who knew that it could be so blue? And when you gazed at it real hard and flew this close to it, you lost yourself. Chace was the first to admit that he had not been paying the least bit attention to this game. Chace had never really taken Quidditch seriously. He liked to play it, but just for fun. When Ivy gave her speech before the game began stating that if Hufflepuff made four goals and then caught the Snitch they would do well in the House Standings, Chace tuned out. Quidditch should not be played to be won, Quidditch should be played to have fun. When Ivy switched Chace into the game, he really truly tried to pay attention for a while. But the blue sky was too inviting.
It was not until the Slytherins started to make an argument that Chace even remembered that he was in the middle of a match. Shortly after that, Ivy switched Chace from Chaser to Beater. He enjoyed playing Chaser but he hadn't played it as much as Beater. Well at least in this position he was more a supporter than a key player. A Bludger had just been hit at Payton, a Slytherin Chaser. For one so young, he sure was good. He dashed from one end of the pitch to the other and seemed to dodge every single Bludger hit at him. So sending a Bludger his way would be fruitless. Well, their Seeker had been left alone for long enough so why not him?

Dylan gave a silent, ''Yes,'' when Asteria saved Ivy's second penalty shot. Looking over, he noticed Mary give Wynd her bat. ''Hm,'' he said scanning around the pitch. Though, he thought it was a very good move on her part. Asteria had completed her pass to Payton, and immediately, the Bludgers started flying. Dylan held his bat tight, and zoomed forward. At least Bryce was benched, for now, he thought.

The Slytherin Keeper was disspiritingly good - she was not only good at saving goals, but also able to dodge Bludgers and make passes that were too hard for one of Hufflepuff's most talented Chasers to intercept. Ivy hadn't even seen the girl playing in a match before. Whoever she was, Mary had made a good find. Of course, Ivy already had a few good Keepers - she had a lot of faith in both Sophia and Kael. Heartened by this thought, she started tailing close behind Mary (laughably, following only a little closer than the third year who had fouled her had been doing before). The first chance she got, she pulled alongside the other Prefect and tried to pull the Quaffle out of her hands. She hadn't been willing to give up at any moment when she'd started playing as a Chaser in third year, and that was one thing that hadn't changed.

Drake's energy was beginning to tire, and the bright sunshine wasn't helping one bit. Growling low in the back of his throat, he wheeled around and began another perfect circle of the large pitch. It seemed every turn he made his journey grew longer and longer. This was expected though; Drake had done this a thousand times before. Wondering how long the match would take, Drake took a quick glance below at the activity. The Chasers were always on the move; Hufflepuff kept making substitutions and interrupting the game. The Beaters were being deadly, and Drake was fast becoming a target for them. Rolling his eyes, Drake wiped some sweat off the brow of his head, and proceeded to grit his teeth in an attempt to reel in his emotions.

Gah, Harmony thought in annoyance when she failed to intercept Asteria's pass to Mary. The shot had been too quick for her, and it had just about skimmed her fingertips. Frowning deeply, Harmoyn tried to recover immediately so she could perform another action - perhaps steal this time. However, thankfully Ivy was there and was soon trying to steal from Mary. Harmony quickly flew across to back her Captain up - should Mary make a pass and get it past Ivy, Harmony would attempt to intercept it. She was sure one of them would succeed. It was then she noticed a Bludger heading for Ivy - one by Wynd. Heh, the Slytherin wanted revenge for Bryce's earlier attacks, hm? Well, Harmony thought, she'd better alert her Captain. "Ivy, Bludger!" she yelled loudly, her shrill voice barely lost in the dry atmosphere.

So far, this was an amazing game. Randy couldn’t remember the last time that Madam Hooch had to step in like that. But she wasn’t really surprised. Randy usually didn’t judge, but she made a big exception when it came to Slytherins. She couldn’t help it. After years of them trying to pick on her and Randy getting in trouble for simply defending herself, Randy wasn’t about to step down and be all submissive. Nope, that wasn’t her style. But luckily, Randy always had people to back her up, like her team. But she wasn’t about to get dragged in to a fight for the moment. She was actually glad that she wasn’t in the game at that point. There was no telling what she would have done so yep, it was a good thing. Randy crossed her legs on the bench and watched the game intently. She of course cheered when Hufflepuff made a goal. Three more to go. She told herself. She wanted to get back into the game, but Randy knew she had to be patient. Ivy would put her back in when she got the chance, so Randy simply sat in her seat and watched the beaters intently. She loved the position of course. It was where Randy felt the most comfortable. She like the adrenaline rush of Quidditch, but she really felt it when she was playing beater. Randy couldn’t help it. She loved Quidditch and she loved her team. “Go Hufflepuff!” Randy cheered.
Randy smiled when Ivy put her back into the game as a beater. Yay. She smiled to Chace. Randy knew that they would work well together and defend their teammates. She took off and took to getting straight back into the action. She didn’t want Slytherin to have another chance to score so she would try and distract them by any means nessecary. It was then Randy saw a bludger heading toward Charles, the Hufflepuff seeker. She headed straight over. He didn’t need that distraction. “Charles look out!” She warned before coming close to the bludger. She was determined to send it over to a Slytherin player.

Charles couldn't help but think of last game as he continued to fly around the pitch - it had been such a close call last time. But he couldn't do that, all his energy had to be put into his search right now. He heard a shout in his direction and swooped into a dive to avoid the Bludger heading towards him, looking in all directions for the Snitch. At times like this the Snitch seemed smaller and faster than it usually was and the pitch seemed larger and his search harder than usual. But he wasn't a Hufflepuff if he didn't know you never achieved your goals without putting in a lot of hard work.

Drake muttered softly under his breath when he watched Harmony Chan sweep in to intercept Mary's pass and caught the Quaffle deftly, snatching it out of thin air from Payton's grasp. The girl was good in her primary position, that was undisputable. Perhaps it would've been better for the Hufflepuff to have stayed as Seeker, and the team wouldn't have been able to utilise her dexterity; plus, the more experienced Charles wouldn't be on his back all the time. Only, Hufflepuff had a load more capable Chasers anyway. In all honesty, Drake had been glad to see Harmony go; her younger, feminine presence had been unnerving Drake subconsciously. He didn't like younger, fragile people, and Harmony struck him as someone who could be fragile on the outside. Still, everything he had assessed about her pinpointed him to a determined nature. He'd seen her older sister around school, a Gryffindor in India's year. She was rumoured to be a bit of a nasty one. Harmony didn't seem so scary, but now she had the Quaffle, Drake wondered if the rumours about her sister were to pass down to her one day. Snorting to himself, Drake glanced at Charles again; he didn't like the sixth year either, but better than a kid as an opponent that Drake could lose to. Drake, losing to a fourth year Hufflepuff? He'd rather do a week's worth of detention.
