Harmony had been subbed off, and Charles Driscoll was on instead as Seeker. Frowning, Drake looked the sixth year up and down; he knew Charles had mor experience than Harmony, and this was his primary position, was it not? Feeling more concerned, Drake resolved he had to find that Snitch soon. This game was dragging on for way too long; plus, the pathetic Chasers hadn't even managed to score yet. Scowling at the thought of losing to Hufflepuff, Drake flew over some excited Slytherin fans clad in silver and green, the house colours. Wondering, again, who was in the audience, but not having enough time or concentration to spare, Drake flew away, still searching for any golden glint.

Dylan watched as his Bryce deflected his Bludger, and once again, Wynd was hit. ''Damn,'' he said through gritted teeth; more so because now Wynd had been hit with the Bludger three times so far. Dylan took a deep breath. He couldn't get frustrated. Not now. This was the hardly the time to lose his head. Instead, he gripped his broom, and looked around the pitch determindely. Mary sent a Bludger at Harmony, who was now attempting to shoot, and he saw Bryce hit a Bludger at Payton, while he wanted to do otherwise, he accelerated.

Asteria had kept her eye on the Quaffle since she had passed it to Payton. It would have been really easy to let saving that first goal to got to her head; which is definitely not to say that she wasn't extremely proud of herself. But, it put even more pressure on her to save the next one. She eyed Bryce wearily, who was playing better than she had ever seen him play. Focusing, she saw Harmony Chan approaching her. ''Here we go,'' and she started flying from side to side.

Weetzie's muscles tensed when she heard her name called. She was being subbed in. It felt too early, it felt too wrong. She hadn't played Quidditch in nearly a year, but she knew she couldn't say no, no matter how terrible at the game she was as a chaser. She bit her lip, grabbed her broom, and flew up into the area – sending Ash an attempt at a small smile, trying to convey some form of civility between the two of them for at least the duration of her time in the game. Weetzie focused on the game, her eyes searching and finding the red Quaffle, her mind no longer on the split ends in her hair. This was serious, she needed to focus. She couldn't let her team down, not after Ashley and Ivy had decided it was alright for her to be back on the team after her long period of absence. The school was strangely forgiving about that. It seemed to happen more than Weetzie had thought.
She flew past Bryce briefly, her eyes not looking at him, but instead on the Quaffle that was smoothly passing between Sophia and Harmony, two younger years that were better at this game than Weetzie was. What a relief. She breathed out and urged her broom forward, flying beside Harmony, thinking that perhaps she wouldn't have to do anything much more than just…make sure the Quaffle remained on the Hufflepuff team. She didn’t need to shoot, she just… needed to make sure either Harmony or Sophia would have it. When did Weetzie O'Keeffe start doubting herself? When she realized that she wasn't as fantastic as she liked to think she was. Weetzie grit her teeth, trying to not think about this, as she watched Harmony start to pull back, to score. She held her breath, her eyes taking in the bludger that was coming toward the younger girl. She seemed to realize it was coming for her, though, and she attempted to avoid just as she attempted to shoot.
Weetzie held her breath. She didn’t know what to do.
((Well, she's not really doing anything, is she? She's just kinda flying there. hehe. But at least she's there. Probably better for the team that she's not doing anything.))

Ashley watched patiently as the Hufflepuff players switched on and off the field. Weetzie sent her a small smile which Ashley did not return, but instead looked away. She still kept her brown eyes on the girl as she flew by Bryce without even looking at him. Quickly glancing away, Ashley tried to kept focused. The game continued on though, her bludger still heading toward the seeker. Mary was the one to the reuse, sending the bludger back toward Harmony. Sighing, Ashley quickly made her way toward the chaser. "Harmony, bludger!" she warned but the girl seemed to already know. Prepping her bat, Ashley swung hard against the surface hoping to make contact once again.

Drake would be his next victim, Bryce surmised as he cast a beady eye round the Slytherins. He had noted an observatory glance his way earlier; Drake was taking note of his actions and was worried, Bryce assumed. Let the guy worry then, he thought. He'd never really liked him much anyway. Bryce wasn't particularly aware or bothered about the recent rumours concerning him and a certain troublesome sixth year girl in Slytherin; he was only aware because he was a prefect, and he kept both ears and eyes open in case rules were broken and such. He didn't think Drake would break rules; he wasn't sweet and fluffy, but he was decent enough for a Slytherin - kept to himself. India Nightingale wasn't the type to break rules either; she was known for her outrageous temper and ice queen attitude, but she was always top of her class - a genius, apparently. The rumours surrounding the pair, though, had died some over the last few weeks. Bryce didn't like rumours, had never appreciated them. There had been enough about him and Ash and Weetzie anyway. Feeling sorry for the fact Drake was the target of recent rumours, though his sympathy didn't go much further because of his lack of a bond with the other seventh year, Bryce didn't feel much regret as he whacked a Bludger at Drake; it was all for Hufflepuff anyway. Down go the Slytherins, he hoped.

Things seemed to be happening all at once. On her left - Payton coming up to steal the Quaffle. On her right - a Bludger attack from Mary. And right up front - the daunting goal posts and their daunting Slytherin Keeper, Asteria. If Harmony had had the chance, she would've outwardly shivered from the challenge. But she enjoyed challenges; she enjoyed taking them on. Gritting her teeth, Harmony logically calculated, in a matter of seconds, which action to perform - or rather, which opponent to take on - first. Obviously she'd have to avoid the Bludger and defend the Quaffle from Payton before she could manage a shot on goal, that was for sure. Suddenly, as Harmony was contemplating her options, Ashley flew beside her, and tried to defend her from the oncoming Bludger. Harmony was grateful for it, but she knew she couldn't completely count on her teammate to definitely swat the black bug away. One eye on Ashley and the Bludger, and one eye on Payton, Harmony rose up in the air to try to avoid both. The Bludger surpassed Ashley, unfortunately, but Harmony had prepared for it, her quick reflexes helping her to dodge the blow. However, despite evading the Bludger, she couldn't completely factor in Payton's presence, and before she knew it, despite clinging to the Quaffle tightly, she had lost it, and it was in the Slytherins' hands.
Thoroughly annoyed, because she had just had a wonderful chance at a shot on goal, Harmony didn't bother to watch in despair as Payton flew away to commit a pass. Narrowing her eyes against the wind pressure, Harmony followed him immediately, not before yelling a "Thanks!" at Ashley for her attempted defence, for which she was grateful for. Tailing Payton's broom, Harmony hoped either Chace or Weetzie would try to steal from the boy; she would go in intercepting his pass to either Wynd or Caleb; probably Wynd, Harmony guessed.

"Thats Slytherin Pride!!" he shouted at the foolish hufflepuff he had just stolen the goal from and now was flying away, he thought this was fun really, like a game of catch and chase as the muggles would play, then he remembered playing quidditch with his friends that lived around his mannor, they were never a match for him, he thought piking up the quaffle and passing it over to wynd, as he was the most active player at the time he thought he'd best not take risk of blowing another goal to hufflepuff, he then chucked as hard as he could to wynd

Well, the girl managed to avoid Mary's bludger but the effort seemed to throw her off balance as Payton managed to steal the quaffle. "Woo! Go Slytherin!" Mary called encouragingly toward the chasers. Of course the Hufflepuff girl was right there on his tail and she seemed to want it back. Thankfully the bludger hadn't traveled too far... With a look around the pitch Mary saw the other bludger busy heading at a Hufflepuff, Charlie... Well, all was fair in Quidditch... Mary almost considered warning him but he would figure it out well enough on his own...

How long had it been since the beginning of the game? Drake didn't know; he hadn't exactly been keeping an eye on the time, not when his concentration was spent on avoiding India and Brianna in his mind and searching for the Snitch; it was a tiring process. Sighing outloud to himself, Drake cast his head left, and then right. He could see Charles wasn't doing much either; merely hovering around and looking as lost as himself. Annoyed, Drake reversed and went back in the direction he had flown from; he was sick on the continuity, the constants in his life.

He woke up that morning with an odd, unsettled sort of feeling that manifested itself in knots in his stomach and a bitter taste in his mouth. He skipped breakfast altogether and was glad that Ivy said nothing of it when they were walking down the pitch. When she hugged him he said the first thing all morning, sincerely enough even though he didn't really believe it. "It's going to be fine," he said. He felt slightly better and as he sat waiting for Ivy to call on him he tried to get himself into Quidditch mode, whatever that was. He knew he shouldn't be defeated by just one match. he also knew thinking about quitting at this point wasn't very logical. This was all new to Charlie, who'd never had to deal with competition much in his life since he'd always been convinced that he was doing things his own way, and fail or succeed that was the important thing. But now, he was just very very confused.
The best plan was probably was just to go out there and do his best. He wasn't going to be making any important decisions right now, so he'd better try and focus. He was called upon earlier than he expected, but as he flew up into the air he felt that familiar sense of excitement of beginning a quest, along with the comfort that came with detaching himself from everything else and concentrating on one target. He started flying around the pitch looking for the Snitch, careful to avoid the Bludger that had already been sent his way by one of the Slytherin Beaters. He didn't know what Drake was like as a Seeker, but he didn't dwell on it.

It came as no surprise that as soon as Charles hit the pitch a Bludger was sent flying his way. Bryce was quite ready for that and flew to defend their team's seeker. The game was going at quite a fast pace and Bryce was glad to see the Hufflepuffs were up to it. He fully shared Ivy's opinion that their loss of the past game had been a crying shame and they'd played a really good game. Winning the Slytherins would be extremely satisfactory even if they weren't going to win the cup. Keeping in that mind, it was best he aim that Bludger at the overly enthusiastic young Slytherin Chaser. Bryce smiled a little to himself remembering himself at that age. He'd shared that same enthusiasm, but thankfully he'd had nothing else in common with the Slytherin house.

The bludger went right pass her! Looking over at Harmony as the girl dodged out of the way, Ashley sighed with relief. She never liked it when she couldn't help a team mate. It was her job, and she wasn't doing it very well. Looking over down at the bench, Ashley flew out of the chasers way hovering next to Madam Hooch. "I would like to make another substitution, please. Ivy will be replacing Weetzie as chaser!" Ashley didn't look at the other girl, but tried to keep her head in the game. She didn't want Weetzie to think she was putting her on the bench because Ashley didn't quite like her. It was part of the plan. Noticing Mary hit a bludger toward Harmony again, Ashley sighed as she flew to the younger girl's defense. "Heads up again, Harmony!" she called extending her bat and flexing her muscles to hit the bludger out of the girl's way.

Ivy watched the game anxiously from the bench. No one had scored so far... that was both good and bad, she supposed. Sophia had showed again just how reliable she was in goal, but a young Slytherin Chaser had managed to steal the Quaffle away from Harmony before she'd had a chance to shoot. Ivy was itching to get back in the game, and she leapt up when she heard Ashley substituting her in. She had work to do. It was time to play an active part in the game! Ivy swooped up on the young Slytherin and started trying to knock the Quaffle out of his hands. It had been in Hufflepuff's possession just before, and it was about time for a yellow-robed player to have it again. They couldn't afford to let Slytherin hog the Quaffle for the entire game.

Again! The girl managed to avoid the bludger again! And to make matters worse the Hufflepuffs still had the quaffle. But that was the game, it didn't always go your way. That only made the win more glorious, and who could doubt that Slytherin would win? Especially with the snitch, the snitch was crucial. Mary was really counting on Drake but of course a leg up could never hurt... Searching Mary saw Charlie, he had avoided Dylan's bludger and Mary did not know whether to be relieved or upset. Seeing him as the little boy showing her his photographs in third year... ice skating and all that... she was glad he wasn't hurt... But of course he was the competition and in the best position to secure a win for Hufflepuff... Mary didn't have long to dwell on it as there was suddenly a bludger flying at Payton, the most active of her chasers...

Payton growled as the quaffle was slipped away from him again, he flew over to mary raging with fury and said "Keep That Bryce, and that Harmony off my back! or I can't make a shot or even pass it!" And then flew off his hand in a fist and he could feel it as he flew fast on his broom after Ivy and bashed into her about five times hoping to weaken her then punched at the quaffle after punching her arm, he knew most would find this bad, but he really didn't care, in quidditch, everyone is the same....except for hufflepuff, and then he grabed for it

Post by Wynd Lehane on Jun 28, 2008 0:13:50 GMT
As Wynd watched Payton zoom away with the Quaffle and try to take a shot, he breathed heavily. Wynd had already been hit by two Bludgers, both sent with love from Bryce Alexander. Stupid little Hufflepuff. Mary and Dylan were doing their best to defend him, but they had bigger fish to fry. Namely distracting that Hufflepuff girl Harmony. Wynd recalled that she was the star of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff game. The only reason that Wynd recalled that day was it was such an oddity in his life. At that point the relationship between he and his sister was strained and Wynd found himself at that game with Dylan and Mary. Not really people that Wynd would have ever thought of hanging out with on a regular basis, but there he was. Mary had been on Wynd's thoughts lately. More than other girls. She was so very different than Olivia.
Wynd was lost in his own thoughts when he noticed yet another Bludger heading straight toward him. Mary and Dylan were called to be elsewhere so he only had himself to rely on. He tried a barrel roll but it was too late. The ball slammed hard in his chest. Another wonderful Bludger sent by Bryce. The wind was knocked out of him as he could feel his ribs strain against the onslaught. Wynd took a second or two to catch his breath. His vision became a little blurred as all his injuries seemed to throb at once. Shaking his head and pulling it together Wynd could only think of one thing: revenge. Three times! Three times he was hit square on by that Hufflepuff blood traitor. Wynd didn't care if this was a 'game' or not. He wanted blood. No one, no one makes sport of a Lehane three times. Wynd took a hold of his broom and aimed it straight at the gloating Hufflepuff. With all his might he flew right up to Alexander and with his body pushed against the Hufflepuff Beater hoping to knock him off his broom. "What's your problem?!" he screamed at Alexander. "I wasn't even doing anything that time. What? Do you feel so mighty because you have a big stick in your hand? If you wanted my attention you have it!" he yelled at Alexander. Wynd lifted a hand off his broom and started to push Alexander.

The Snitch, the Snitch, the Snitch. Where was the blasted thing? Drake had been going round and round in circles like... forever. Gritting his teeth in annoyance, he swept below a couple of Beaters who had flown too high, and barely gave them a cursory glance. He did, however, spare one across to Charles, to watch what his opponent was doing. Not much, from the looks of it. Allowing himself a small smirk, Drake tilted his head and looked up to the sky again. The sun wasn't going to stop shining so brightly any time soon. He was beginning to get quite flustered - his body, anyway. The heat was rising. At least he didn't have to exert himself too much, otherwise he would've been soaking wet. Sighing inwardly, Drake continued his rather futile search.
