Post by Professor Rubeus Hagrid on Mar 15, 2005 3:26:13 GMT
Rubeus Hagrid had a note sent out to every Care of Magical Creatures student that morning, telling them to meet him by the Forbidden Forest not too far away from his cabin for a special surprise. He was in an elated mood as he strolled towards the dragonkeepers. His every step more and more like a bounce off the scabrous ground. Near the Cimmerian trees were four dragons, a Common Welsh Green, Chinese Fireball, Swedish Shortsnout, and a Hungarian Horntail. In fact, they were the exact same ones the Champions had faced off against two years ago. Hagrid could still feel the euphria he had felt the first time he had gone to see these four dragons. However, this time, Charle Weasley was not at Hogwarts and instead, Dragon handlers grom the Department of the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures were there to assist Hagrid with his class.
The gargantuan Keeper of Grounds and Keys at Hogwarts looked up towards the starry, night sky, smelling the multitudinous scents that drifted from the forest. He looked out onto the lake and watched as the moon was slowly revealed when the phantasmal clouds passed over. Penumbrae fanned out in all directions as the moon shown. Hagrid could not wait for the class to begin as he headed back towards his cabin. He walked up the stone steps and opened the collosal door before entering the brightly lit room. He had pounds of liver prepared in large buckets next to the fire and quickly heaved them up before exiting his cabin and walking back towards the Dragon handlers. "Here's some food for 'em dragons!" Hagrid said enthusiastically as he looked towards the cages and placed the buckets next to a bench.
One of the Dragon trainers thanked Hagrid with a large grin, "Thanks! We'll be needing these to calm them down once the class begins. Mind you, this is an once in a lifetime opportunity for the students here.... I still remember my days at Hogwarts.."
Hagrid sat down and awaited the arrival of the class, which started at about 8:00 that night.

Pyro trudged along the grounds heading towards Hagrids cabin. His pack was slung across his left shoulder. The note hagrid had sent to him was sticking out of his pocket. Hagrids hut soon came into view. Pyro suddenly heard something. he stoped and perked his ears and listened. Suddenly, he heard it again. Growling. And it sounded like large animals growling. He began to walk again. trying to place the growls.
Pyro rounded hagrids hut and calm into view of the clearing where the class was suppose to meet. he stoped dead in his tracks at the site. Dragons! 4 of them! his breath caught in his throat. "woa......" it looked like the big oaf of a teacher finaly got something right. Pyro noticed hagrid sitting not to far away. "um..Professor, tell me my eyes arent playing tricks on me. but are those reall life dragons over there?"

Post by Jaquin Prokenstien on Mar 15, 2005 7:41:43 GMT
Jaquin was extremely excited by the fact that today's Care of Magical Creature Lesson would cover the topics of Dragons. This was something that was rarely taught by magical schools and was a rather eccentric idea in the eyes of the minister. However, Hagrid still persisted and managed to obtain the four, dragons from two years ago. Jaquin excelled at Care of Magical Creatures class, as he had an preternatural obsession and affinity for muggle biology, chemistry, magibiology, herbology, some potions, and of course Care of Magical Creatures. He had already been enrolled at Harvard Medical School and would also study biology at Stanford University in the United States. Jaquin was best at Care of Magical Creatures in his year, as he had gotten a 120% and an outstanding on his O.W.L.s in this subject.
That night, Jaquin had been prepared for the class and already had his equipment prepared. He knew that bringing a pair of dragonhide gloves would be undoubtely very efficacious. Jaquin sprinted down the hallways until he reached the main doors. There, he walked out into a strong gale and he could see the Cimmerian, starry sky where the moon hung like a beacon of light shining down upon the land. Dark, choleric clouds rolled in, but quickly dissipated. It looked as if the night would be a clear one. Jaquin did not see many students heading outside, but he was sure that by the time he arrived at the class there would be multitudinous students milling about and conversing loqaciously as they always did. He trudged down the rolling hills and walked towards Hagrid's Hut before heading off towards the Forbidden Forest where ne knew the dragons were being kept. Greatly compelled by the dragons, Jaquin stood in the front next to Hagrid. "Good evening, Professor Hagrid!" he greeted enthusiastically, seeing that Hagrid shared the same elation he did.

Jasmine had been in the library with a small study group of first years and second years all day. It was always fun to tutor younger children than her, and Jasmine loved the way they lit up once they learned a new thing and got the hang of it. A worn out book lay in front of her on the table. Its dusty covers made Jasmine knew feel like it was going to sneeze. Wrinkling her noise she laughed softly and turned her head towards the clock. It was 7:45 and Care Of Magical Creature’s class will begin at 8. "I wonder what we are planned for today. Escpially since it is this late at night." Jasmine said with a slight dazed face. Sighing she stood up from the chair and said good bye to the little study group and walked out of the library with her shoulder bag full of supplies. Jasmine never went anywhere without it and she wasn’t planning too either.
Walking into the fresh cold air she took out the note again and made sure they were al supposed to meet at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Jasmine had never been in there before in her life and did not plan to either. Pulling her long black hair into a pony tail she continued her walking across the lawn. The stars were out and the moon was giving off its glow of light. It looked beautiful and made Jasmine's hazel eyes sparkled when she looked up into the sky. Maybe today’s class well be about night creatures. Since many wizarding and muggle mammals were night creatures. Like bats, insects, lions, and many other creatures who preffered to hunt in the night.
As Jasmine made her way towards Hagrids hut she heard a loud noise to the distance. Stopping in her tracks her eyes grew big with astonishment. Dragons! That what tonight’s class was. Feeling slightly uncomfortable she made her way a little closer but stopped and almost seem to shy away. Jasmine had read about Dragons many times before, but never thought of actually meting one close up in real life. Walking a little closer she noticed that some students were already there. A little third year boy was looking at the dragons with almost the same look on her face. Smiling she turned towards Hagrid and saw Jaquin standing next to him. Smiling she forced herself to walk a little closer but stopped in her tracks as her feet seemed to be glued to the ground. Sighing Jasmine waited for the rest of the students to show up.

Kris left his cloak into his dormitory once again and dressed into black jeans and a black shirt with just one stripe of red cloth around his left arm and one around his head to keep his longer hair out of his eyes. Kris didn’t understand why some people went to class with their uniforms – should the creature they were studying attack, then the cloak was only going to be in the way. Not turning his eye to anyone from in front of him, Kris moved swiftly through the hallways, where other students – especially younger ones – gave him the way. Stalking almost soundlessly over the grounds towards the Forbidden Forest, Kris smirked – he loved the Forbidden Forest and despite the regular punishments, was found there often. Kris heard growling and almost stopped still, recognizing the voice from spending a month in a dragon-tamers camp in Rumania two years ago. Although still as silent as before, Kris moved a lot faster know and noticed that two Ravenclaws and Pyro from Slytherin were almost present. And the four dragons. “Your eyes aren’t deceiving you, Pyro, these are dragons. The grayish blue is Swedish short-snout, the one with black scales and spiked tail is Hungarian horntail and the most dangerous of them, the Common Welsh Green and the bright-red one with golden spikes on it’s face is a Chinese Frieball. Sometimes known also as a Liondragon,” Kris answered to Pyro’s question swiftly, recognizing all the dragons and admiring the display of strength in front of him with his left hand automaticall reaching the four think scars on his side, that were left from the month in the camp, when a Romanian Longhorn had attacked him, before Kris averted his eyes to the half-giant with a half-grin on his lips instead of his regular smirk, “Good evening professor. A charming change from Flobberworms I must mention. And I get a chance to see if my skills haven't rusted from the month spend in the dragon-tamers camp.” Kris had an almost magical contact with all animals – even the dragon had spared the boys life after one swipe of her claws, so Care for Magical Creatures was always extremely easy for Kris. He just didn’t show up very often and hardly ever spoke up, even though his class-work and contact with the animals was always excellent. ((At first I saw that I can't slip into Russin for real, now change this eh, well, I'll live... Pardon professor, I'll make sure it won't happen again))

Post by Perseus Feynman on Mar 16, 2005 2:22:50 GMT
Perseus strolled down the rolling lawns, watching the moonlit sky as the stars shown through the Cimmerian viel of space. He was endeavoring to restrain himself from insulting the half-giant because of who he was, as he knew what it felt like to be shunted. Just recently, Perseus had begun to embrace his heritage and had begun to act more like a Slytherin. However, he had still not abandoned any of his friends, keeping his even more erratic temperament in check. Perseus was of course, still obsessed with muggle sciences and still had his affinity and natural talent for physics, mathematics, chemistry, and astrophysics. He knew that he was definitely not as good as his half-blood friend, Jaquin, at Care of Magical Creatures, but he still took pride in his ability to achieve at least an outstanding in that class in his O.W.L.s. In reality, his best subject was potions, as he was best in his year at it, having earned over one hundred percent in his potions O.W.L.s. Perseus was still greatly intrigued by the Care of Magical Creatures class, which was rumored to be about dragons tonight. He never liked muggle biology, but it always came easily for him. His weakness, however was his impatience and lack of interest in the flora and fauna of the natural world.
As he strode towards Hagrid's illuminated cabin, Perseus heard the roar of dragons and smiled in anticipation. His elation would definitely last a long time, as dragons were something he could relate to. They had the same, firey temper, but were considered to be aberrations of nature in both muggle and wizarding worlds. That was the way Perseus felt at certain times. He trudged pass the derilect forest that was filled with multifarious trees and arrived next to one of the dragon-handlers. He could identify all four easily, and knew that Jaquin could do the same in his sleep. Perseus moved towards the cage and stood next to Jaquin after greeting the professor. "Good night for learning about dragons, don't you think?" he asked with a friendly smile.

Ever since Robert got a note from Hagrid saying that Care of Magical Creatures was going to be held in the dark forest, he was trying to think of what they could be doing.
Robert was sitting in the Ravenclaw Common Room. He lost track of time, while working on the book he was writing. He checked his watch and grabbed his cloak. Care of Magical Creatures was one of his favorite subjects and was going to begin in a little. He knew every magical creature discovered yet. He ran out of the common room, and towards the dark forest. He'd only been here once before. It was cold and the wind blew at his cloak. He trudged on before seeing Professor Hagrid.
"Hello, Hagrid. What's so special that we have to go to the dark forest?" But before he got his answer, he heard a noise. Dragons. He knew everything about dragons. Oh, this night will be one to remember, he told himself. he'd only seen dragons once before. Durring his first year at Hogwarts durring the Triwizard Tournament. I wonder which dragons they'll be? So he kept walking a little deeper into the woods to find out.

Dana had been surprised to receive the note from Hagrid, but she packed herself in warmly, using two thick sweaters and pants. Dana used a warming charm on her just in case, but left her cloak. Kris was always whining about the cloak getting in the way and as the class was taking in place in the Forbidden Forest, then this time Dana decided to take her advice. Moving over the grounds, Dana wondered what on earth could they be learning this time. Hagrid didn’t always have the safest creatures in class, so Dana was rather wary of the class ahead, especially when she heard the roars coming from the place they were supposed to go to.
Seeing Kris, Jasmine and Pyro as well as some other Ravenclaws and an older Slytherin boy there already, Dana felt his mood lift a bit. Mainly thanks to Kris. And before Dana noticed the four dragons there, making her gasp. Dana had been raised in a completely magical environment and she knew how much trouble and danger dragons could be. “Dragons? We are studying dragons?” Dana gasped hurrying towards the group of students and Hagrid and taking hold of Kris’s arm, feeling a bit frightened, “I’ll have your head, if you get hurt this time, Kris. That once when you were staying at the dragon-tamers camp in Bulgaria was horrifying enough so don’t you even dare to scare me again like that.”
Dana took a breath feeling a bit secure knowing that Kris was there as well, as her cousin – almost a brother – would never let any harm come to her. In case of trouble, Dana wouldn’t look for help from the professor as weird as it might be, but she rather turn to Kris. Squinting towards the dragons, Dana wondered why they seemed somewhat familiar, before recalling that the same animals had been present the last year. If not the same animals, then dragons form the same breeds at least. “Good evening professor. Are those the same dragons used at the Triwizard contest?” Dana asked and looked around the students already there smiling brightly at her friends, “Hey, Jasmine, you look great tonight! Pyro.” Dana smiled at the other two Ravenclaws and Slytherin she didn’t know as well, but a bit less openly as she slowly released Kris’s arm, but remained close by his side as her eyes looked towards the dragons once again, while she settled herself comfortably against Kris, so he was blocking the wind. Dana knew that Kris wouldn't do it for anyone else but her nad MAry, who Kris considered sisters, so she just smiled calmly and adressed everybody with an easy-going and conversational tone: “Just to let everybody know – I have absolutely no problems running as fast as I can without looking back, should one of them get angry or irritated enough, so someone else would get bitten besides me. Much better for my health that way.”
Post by Vincent Crabbe Jr. on Mar 19, 2005 12:18:50 GMT
Vincent wrapped himself up properly as he prepared to go outside for the Care of Magical Creatures class. He was not at all enthusiastic about what he anticipated they were going to be doing. He knew full well what they would be studying - dragons. The Ministry officials were going to be there, which was how Vincent had found out, and he felt this would be a chance for him to get across his side of the story, so that the great oaf didn't get away with his past misdemeanours. He was a danger to all the students, Vincent had heard this many times, and so he intended to do what he could to spite the Potter-loving giant.
Sure enough, as Vincent approached the Forbidden Forest, he could hear growling. The dragons soon came into view as he found the group, along with some muscular men who were treating the dragons with caution. He nodded to Perseus, who was his fellow beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team, and Kris Graas, merely out of courtesy, especially considering the last meeting he had had with the two of them, before eyeing up the dragons. He caught the eye of one of them deliberately and it gave off an aggressive roar. "Dragons are a bit dangerous, aren't they?" Vincent enquired to no one in particular. "Of course, we all know that there are certain other creatures that don't have a particularly perfect track record as well." He looked to one of the less pleasant looking Dragon tamers, and added. "There was a bit of an incident with a Hippogriff a few years ago, ended in one of my friends getting a nasty gash on his arm."

Hagrid greeted the class and looked back towards the dragons with great enthusiasm.
"All righty then..... Today, we'll be' studyin' the behavior these dragons..... I'm sure everyone knows the four dragons by name. But what else do you know about these four fine dragons? Let's have Jaquin and Perseus answer this. Now, Kris and Vincent, tell me why dragons are especially difficult to restrain and why they're 'untrainable'. Everyone else has seen and already read lot's 'bout these dragons an' you've seen 'em at the Triwizard Tournament two years ago, right? Can anyone else tell me what these dragons might like ter' eat?"

Dana snorted quietly at Hagrid’s question what the dragons might eat: “Would it be very idiotic to think that dragons eat meat, professor? Doubt anyone has ever lectured them about becoming vegetarians.” Dana’s voice was sarcastic, before she sighed and shook her head, thinking about the question for a moment seriously: “I guess they eat that stuff you have obviously prepared, professor. Whatever it is in those buckets. Liver perhaps? But what do they eat? Cattle – sheeps and goats would be my guess. Some unfortunate humans perhaps? It's almost a shame there aren't knights anymore - at least the dragons got a tooth-pick from the knight's lance, but now there is no such service anymore. No one thinks about hte dental hygene of dragons.”

Post by kris on Mar 20, 2005 19:06:19 GMT
Kris heard the people approaching the camp and everybody seemed awed by the dragons. Kris smirked hearing Dana’s approach and feeling her rather strong grasp on his arm: “Don’t worry, I won’t risk foolishly enough any more. Besides you have a good enough right hook to keep me in line. After all I taught it to you, didn’t I?”
Kris answered to Crabbe’s nod as briefly. The boys weren’t friends, but they both had enough self-control over themselves to not bicker over small and not important details. As Hagrid asked the question Kris slipped out his wand and cast one more heating-charm around Dana before moving away from behind her and walking to a tree-stomp near-by and leaning one leg on it as he admired the growling dragons while suppressing his laughter at Dana’s remark. Dana had always had a sharp tongue that she wasn’t afraid to use.
“Look at the dragons? They are huge and most of those bodies are made out of strength – there isn’t anything but an other dragon to stop them physically. And I can tell you first-hand htat they have unbearable sharp and strong claws,” Kris stated calmly with his hand finding the four thin scars on his side under the blouse once again, never taking his eyes off the dragons almost itching with desire to go closer, “.Dragons are aggressive and human skin is hardly something that could stand against their fire And they are so absorbed with magic – dragons skin, heart, blood, horns and liver are all very magical, so there are hardly any spells that can harm them either and not one person alone could cast a strong enough spell alone. That’s why there are so many dragon-tamers here. Dragons are just so strong both physically and magically and smart enough to not allow themselves to be tamed. Free and unbound spirits.”
Kris let a smile edge on the corners of his lips – he wouldn’t have to work for living – one of the bonuses of being independently wealthy, but if Kris would pursue a career at some area, then it would be concerning dangerous magical creatures.

Pyro half listened to hagrid speak. He looked at the dragons and chuckled. "heh, what do they eat. Us if they get the chance." he steped up to Kris. "aye, just as smart if not smarter than humans, and a tough defence against pain, plus a high tolerance to pain if pain is ever inflicted on them. that makes for a tough animal to tame."

Post by Savannah Johnstone R7 on Mar 25, 2005 6:23:28 GMT
Evenings at Hogwarts were one of the best times in Savannah’s opinion. With the sun going down there were less people around to see what she doing and it was a great time to simply be alone. After dinner she walked outside the castle and sat down on the steps and checked her watch, she had a good hour to go until Care of Magical Creatures would begin. Opening her bag she dug in and pulled out a tiny skateboard and set it down on the ground. With a flick of her wrist and a charm, the board enlarged itself to it’s proper size. Taking a look around to be sure no professor was nearby, Savannah put her wand in her pocket and got on her skateboard. The steps outside the castle were perhaps one of the best places to skate with railings and long paths. Back and forth along the path she went and managed several tricks on the rails and steps before time forced her to stop.
Walking down the path with several other students, Savannah shrunk her board back to it’s tiny size and shoved it back into her bag well before she arrived at the edge of the dark forest where they were to have class tonight. As she approached the group she saw dragons, four of them, in cages. Tonight they were to learn about dragons, “just great” she thought to herself as she stood near the back of the group, she had no desire to get close, accidents happened much more often in this class than any other. Finding two other older Ravenclaws, Dana and Jasmine, Savannah walked over to them. “I always wanted to be eaten by dragon” she said sarcastically to the two of them as the class began and the questions began to roll, as always those smart boys were the first to be called on. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out a couple pieces of gum and unwrapped one and popped it in her mouth, the others she held out to the other girls as the class continued on about dragons.

Post by Jaquin Prokenstien on Mar 27, 2005 19:03:41 GMT
After Hagrid asked the question, Jaquin stood up from his seat so that his voice would carry further and decided to talk about the zoology of the Common Welsh Green and the Hungarian Horntail. Jaquin looked around at the multitudinous students and began his explanation, "So... About the Welsh Green. The Common Welsh Green as most of us know blends in well with the lush grass of its homeland, around here and in certain reservations in Northern Wales. Although most nest in the higher mountains where reservations have been established for their preservation, the Ilfracombe Incident notwithstanding, this breed is among the least troublesome. They prefer, like the Opaleye to prey on sheep and smaller mammals and actively avoids humans unless they are provoked. They have an easily recognisable, melodious roar and its fire is issued in thin jets. Their eggs are an earthy brown, flecked with green. Now, about the Hungarian Horntail, it has black scales, is lizardlike in appearance, has yellow eyes, bronze horns, and similarly coloured spikes that protrude from its long tail. The Horntail has one of the longest fire-breathing ranges of upt to fifty feet. Its eggs are cement coloured and particularly hard-shelled. Its young must club their way out utilizing their tails, which gives them sufficient practive. The Hungarian Horntail is particularly dangerous as it feeds on goats, sheep, and whenever possible, humans..." Jaquin sat back down and waited for Perseus to begin talking.

Post by Samantha Driscoll on Mar 27, 2005 19:10:17 GMT
Care of Magical Creatures… with that dim-witted half-giant, who should never have been given the position of a teacher at a school like Hogwarts. Oh well, no use crying over spilt potion. Not that she ever cried, it was just stupid figure of speech. She patted her hair which she had coiled into an elegant French twist and smoothed down her robes. She was glad this class was with the Ravenclaws. For one thing they actually possessed some intelligence and more importantly that meant she would not have to see her brother today. The sight of him always had the effect of darkening her mood which was never good in the first place.
She wondered what he had sent them the note for. She wasn't afraid of the Forbidden Forest, in fact ever since she had met Kris she had been wondering what it would be like to wander in there. She wasn't very excited about the class though as she had never liked the way Hagrid tried to explain or show things to them. She felt she never learnt anything from him, but that was no surprise. The bloke hadn't even finished school. She walked sedately across the grounds and to the appointed place where a small group of students were waiting. She could see older men among the students and wondered what they were doing. As she walked closer she saw four cages… and huge creatures were trapped inside them. Samantha wondered if what she seeing was really true.
Dragons… this might actually prove to be an interesting class. She would steer clear of the half-giant and stick to Kris and the assistants, she was sure they would be more competent and able to answer her questions. "Wow," she whispered as she silently stood watching the creatures fight against their constraints. She was standing beside Kris and Pyro but since she had walked up so quietly they probably hadn’t heard her. She listened intently to all Kris was saying and didn’t take her eyes once off the dragons. She was fascinated by their strength and size. There were several people with each dragon, and it seemed like they were just managing to keep it from taking anyone out. One seemed particularly violent, that was the Hungarian Horntail.
Samantha's attention was caught by a girl addressing Kris in a familiar manner. Was she his cousin? They resembled each other to some extent. Samantha nodded at all her fellow Slytherins not saying much but she did smile at Kris when their eyes met for a moment. She was busy taking in all that was happening and wondering when they would be allowed to walk a little closer. She couldn't wait to do so. She had never seen dragons up-close except during the Triwizard Tournament, and they had also fascinated her back then. Right now she listened to all that half-blood Ravenclaw had to say, trying to see what she didn’t know though she could make a mental note to check it up, for once actually interested in what was being said in the class.

Post by Perseus Feynman on Mar 27, 2005 19:15:31 GMT
Perseus rose from his seat just as Jaquin had done and decided to explain one of the fundamental mechanisms of a dragon's body. "All right. Everyone knows that these dragons breath fire, correct? Well, from what I know, dragons breathe air, like all of the creatures of the land, and much like other mammals their body would take what it needs to survive and then expel the gases that were not needed. But because Dragons spend a lot of there time very high in the atmosphere, where oxygen is very sparse, their bodies adapted to using the most abundant gas in Earths atmosphere, Nitrogen. This would cause the Dragons to expel large amounts of pure oxygen, for it is not needed. When Dragons drink(water is the most common drink for a dragon) they only use the one hydrogen for body nutrients. This chemical reaction caused by the taking of one hydrogen also separates the oxygen and one hydrogen into separate gases, mix in the Dragons stomach, which the dragon can 'burp' up. This plus the left over gases from respiration make a very large amount of flamable material," Perseus said before diving back into his explanation. "The Dragon has two small lumps of tissue in the back of its throat, inside a crevice, between these two lumps there is a small jolt of electricity that passes across them constantly. This occurs because there is a large abount of special nerves within the lumps, and they send messages across to each other causing electic jolts to span the gap. So when the gases are passed through the mouth, the electicity ignites them and they create a jet of flame. Over the crevice there is a large thick membrane that can be controled conciously by the Dragon. This membrane can open or close over the lumps of tissue so that the Dragon can breathe through its mouth without having to breathe fire. Inside the dragons mouth there are several glands which excrete a extremely strong, non-heat conducting mucus. This mucus lines the inside of the Dragons mouth so the Dragon does not burn itself when it breathes fire."
Perseus then continued to talk about the two species, the Chinese Fireball and the Swedish Shortsnout. He explained, "Well, I do not know as much about the zoology of dragons as Jaquin does, but, I do know that the Chinese Fireball, also known as the Liondragon has a striking appearance. It is scarlet and smooth-scaled, has a fringe of golden spikes around its snub-snouted face, and has extremely protuberant eyes. They obtained their name from the mushroom shaped flame they breath from their nostrils when angered. Its eggs are a vivid crimson speckled with gold, and the shells are much prized for use in various Asian wizarding countries. They are more tolerant of their own species, but will feast on humans and pigs, which are its preferred foods. I'm not as sure about the Swedish Short-Snout, but it is an attractive silvery blue dragon whose skin is sought after for protective gloves and shields. Its flame is particularly dangerous as Jaquin has told me, and Jaquin has also told me that the Short Snout has fewer human killings than most dragons. This is perhaps because it prefers to live in the uninhabited mountainous areas."

Hagrid clapped his hands together with a jolly smile and said, "Excellent explanations, Jaquin, Perseus! Both of you will receive 30 points each for your houses. He turned towards Kris and nodded in approval. Thas' right! These dragons can be very dangerous, but most of it is all a misunderstandin'. Good, 15 points to Slytherin. However, I don't want any of you ter' come in with the attitude Kris just demonstrated for us. Dana, that is exactly what they migh' eat. So.. er... that'll be another 15 points ter Ravenclaw and Pyro, you also get 15 points for your little explanation. Dragons might be dangerous to you, but, we are just as dangerous to dragons as they are to us. You gotta remember that, 'specially if your going to be working with any magical creatures in the future... Now, it's time for these Dragon Handlers to show ust what they know..."
The Dragon handler wearing dark green robes stepped up next to the gargantuan form of Hagrid and explained, "So, today, we will be witnessing the hatching of baby dragons and we'll be caring for them because of the level of restraint that is required to be put upon the mothers... Especially because we are on school grounds. Now remember, careful handling is vital and I suggest that all of you put on your dragon hide gloves and I have dragon hide vests for everyone over here-He directed his arm towards a rack next to a particularly large tree- That way nobody will be hurt if the dragon offspring do breath fire. Here comes the first few!" The Dragon handler pointed towards several earth-brown eggs with green specks cracking, as miniscule Welsh Green dragons began clambering out of their egg shells. In a short time, all the eggs had cracked open and there were four baby dragons from each sleeping specimen. "Now what you want to do is find a baby dragon and try feeding it. Experiment with different types of meat and try combining some to find its optimum diet...."

Robert pulled his gloves out of is cloak pocket. He's been studying dragons quite a bit, but didn't know that the information might come in handy. The gloves were a little to big for him, but still stayed on his hands.
I hope that the dragons won't mindbeing surronded by people, he thought to himself, I wouldn't want some strangers poking at my kid.
He saw a few other students moving toward one of the dragons, but he didn't know which to go to. They all looked pretty cute to him. Too bad it's illegal to have one as a pet.

Dana couldn’t suppress a chuckle as Hagrid commented on Kris’s behavior: “See – I’ve always told you have an attitude. And you are influencing me towards the wrong way as well.” Punching Kris jokingly on his arms Kris smiled at the professor as she was awarded 15 points. Considering how sarcastic her answer had been to the question what dragons might eat, Dana rather expected to not receive any points. If it had been McGonagall or Snape she would have rather lost points. Dana just shrugged – it was nice to earn points instead.
Smiling at Savannah as she approached them Dana accepted the gum from her and unwrapping it popped t into her mouth. Almost choking on it when she heard they would have to feed the baby-dragons. Dana was alright with doing some work or even getting dirty and she wasn’t afraid of breaking a nail – that’s what charms were for – but hand-feeding a baby dragon? “You want ME – us – to put our hands into bucket of raw liver and meat?” Dana choked out not really believing her ears. AS soon as the words were out from her mouth Kris slapped her dragon-hide skin gloves into her hand, making Dana grin sheepishly.
Walking over Dana didn’t find a vest that fit her nicely, so she had to settle for one a bit larger than needed. Not letting it bother her, Dana moved to the small fence in which the dragons were kept and eyes the baby-dragons: “So which one of you honeys has the most peaceful mother?” Dana looked at the four baby dragons and picked up a piece f liver with a wrinkle of her nose – Dana was raised as half-aristocrat and handling raw meat wasn’t one of the things she wasn’t really used to. Holding the piece of liver gingerly Dana glanced at the dragons again wondering which one was the safest to approach.
