The glint hadn't been the Snitch. Melody hadn't really thought it was, but she her dive seemed to have been sufficiently convincing that the Ravenclaw Seeker had followed her. Melody blushed as she felt her opponent's eyes on her. It hadn't been a kind thing to do, but her little moment of deviousness did seem to have paid off. She wasn't exactly proud of herself, but she smiled to think that her team - if they'd noticed - might be.
She might have won that battle, or rather minor skirmish, but she hadn't yet won the war for her team, as her dad would have been quick to point out to her. So she had to get back to searching. She decided to stay where she was for the time being, barely a metre and a half off the ground. She moved around slowly, searching in the corners closer to the stands that she couldn't see properly from a distance. And the Snitch could be anywhere...

((Theo, I haven’t rolled you marking Scott; since he didn’t post. Therefore you still have your full quota of ‘Focus’ moves left. Cassie, you can complain if you disagree with this decision! There is no fixed rule about it.
Zoey focuses on hitting a Bludger at August; Edward attempts to deflect it towards Cassandra. Zoey = Focus Bludger (D6 + Str + Con) = 4 + 4 + 2 = 10 Edward = Defend (D8 + Str) = 8 + 5 = 13 Edward deflects the Bludger successfully! There is a Bludger flying at Cassandra.
Celia hits a Bludger at Scott; Trinity attempts to deflect it towards August. Celia = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 4 + 6 = 10 Trinity = Defend (D8 + Str) = 6 + 2 = 8 Trinity fails to deflect the Bludger: it continues at Scott.
Trinity warned Scott to dodge the Bludger so he will get his stat points. Celia = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 4 + 6 = 10 Scott = Avoid (D8 + Dex) = 6 + 6 = 12 Scott dodges Celia's Bludger!
August tries to catch the Quaffle. As no one from the Gryffindor team attempts to catch it, August has the Quaffle.
Sandy searches for the Snitch. She must get a search roll of 5 or more in order to search. Sandy = Search (D6 + Con) = 4 + 3 = 7 Sandy is able to search.
Sandy = Search = 16 16 is not the Snitch number. Sandy does not see the Snitch.
Melody searches for the Snitch.
Melody = Search = 7 7 is not the Snitch number. Melody does not see the Snitch.))

Well, the Snitch didn't appear to be hiding down near the stands. So that she didn't appear to be seeking attention from the crowd - rather than the Snitch! - Melody decided to return to her former height. There was more possibility of spotting the Snitch from up there. She sighed to herself, wincing a little as she rose through the main field of players. She was a little worried about the possibility of drawing attention to herself. So far, she hadn't noticed a threat from any Bludgers, and the only other player she'd been keeping an eye on - Sandy Hart - didn't appear to have been troubled by them either. That was very unusual - Beaters often targeted the Seekers almost exclusively, with a tat-for-tat strategy being adopted. It was nice not to be dodging the sadistic iron balls everywhere she went, and she'd rather not start now.
Melody winced, clapping a hand to her head as a wave of dizziness overtook her, the glare and dehydration from the unbroken sunshine getting to her. She clasped her broom a little more tightly, just for a bit of comfort and stability. Rubbing her eyes, Melody tried to focus on her search once more. She musn't let the sunny conditions get in the way of her seeking. She must not. She had to find that Snitch for Gryffindor...

Black curls framed her face and bounced infront of her eyes as Zoey shook her head when August caught the Quaffle. None of the Chasers, none of them, had attempted to even try and get it. She sighed, knowing getting worked up about it wouldn’t help, but she knew that Cassandra was surely having a fit about it. She glanced at Cass, and she the Edward had deflected her Bludger to her. She sighed and leaned into her broom and raced to her, gripping her bat. She was getting annoyed by Edward and Celia, they were on top of their game. “Hopefully it’ll wear off…” she muttered to herself before yelling “Cass, watch out, Bludger!” she warned her in case she had failed at defending. She took a breath in, straightening and slamming the small wooden bat against the Bludger, sending it towards Sandy. She hoped that’d distract her more than she already was after the feint Melody gave her, and she hoped that it’d give Melody some time to maybe see and chase the Snitch, undisturbed.

Only after he had the ball safely in his grasp did August look up and see that none of the Gryffindor Chasers had made an attempt to catch the Quaffle. He felt a little foolish for going after the ball with such passion but it had paid off. The Quaffle was now once again in Ravenclaw arms. Pulling out of his dive, August flew toward the Gryffindor captain waiting for him at the end of the pitch. He would have really liked to score but the rules were quite clear. He had to pass. Woodrow was no where in sight so that left Theo. Once the Quaffle was safely in the vice captain's hands August knew that Ravenclaw would soon have ten more points under their belt.

OOC: Could I focus for defending, passing, and avoiding or would that require three of my focus....ses?
You may only focus for one move per round. Straight from the rule book:
'They may only do this up to a total of 5 times per match, and only for one roll per round (e.g. a Chaser could Focus either for dodging a Bludger or Scoring, but not for both actions in one round).'

"What the...?" Cass roared a string of expletives. She had to calm herself down before Hooch shot her another dirty look. Cass tried to keep her temper. "Cass!" She heard someone screamed. Turning her attention back to the game, she saw a bludger heading straight towards her. "Great!" She said as she tried to dodge the ball.

"Go August!" Theo yelled proudly as he watched his younger teammate successfully grab the Quaffle. "To the goals!" All the Ravenclaw Chasers bent their brooms back in the direction of Cassandra and the other set of hoops. Theo followed August closely, as well as continuously marking Scott, who was the biggest Chaser threat in Theo's eyes, though he was rather biased of course. As they neared the goalposts, Theo threw out his arms at August and yelled, "I'm free if you need me!"

Wow. That wasn’t just sunshine. It wasn’t fool’s gold. It was an authentic, glinting, round, fast-moving Golden Snitch. Melody gaped at it a little, utterly astounded to have clapped eyes on it so early into the game - entirely by chance as was usually the case. In fact, she was so gob smacked that she almost forgot to chase it for a moment, until she realised that the tiny little ball, at first only about five metres away, was now more like fifteen metres away. She urged her broom into action, keeping her eyes trained on the small golden ball. It had dipped downwards and she was having a hard time keeping track of it, but she had to if she was going to catch it…
As Melody dipped into yet another crazy dive, she wondered if her previous feint might have another favourable outcome: Sandy might think that it was all just a trick again. That seemed too much to hope though, and Melody assumed that she needed to get to the Snitch as quickly as she could, not just before it disappeared, but also to fend off her Ravenclaw competition. Her headache and the fierce sunshine were all forgotten. All there was were the Snitch, Melody and Sandy. Plus maybe a Bludger or two.

"One would think," he whispered to his sister away from the megaphone so that he could not be heard, "that it would not take that much effort to provide some shade for us." Instead the Lehanes had to suffer in the sun with the rest of the school. Today would have been a perfect day to work on his tan but the school robes were going to make some odd tan lines. Thus he put on some suncream. There would be other times, other places, better places to try and work on his appearance. This would be the first time that Ruby and he had commented on a game together. It certainly would prove to be an interesting game. "Does that mean I have to bet on Gryffindor?" he asked his sister still not picking up the magical piece of equipment that would let his voice be heard throughout the pitch. "No deal. While I believe Gryffindor has better players, Scoot and Melody, I think that Ravenclaw has better leadership." He pointed with his head toward Cassandra.
Wynd vaguely watched the game with disinterest. He would much rather be playing that commenting. A Slytherin/Hufflepuff game was promised to be coming and he could hardly wait. It seemed ages since he had been able to spread his wings so to speak. Since it was against Hufflepuff, Slytherin was guaranteed a victory. Picking up the magical microphone he decided he should probably say something. "After Ravenclaw's goal it seems like the mighty lions have given up all hope as Scoot Ryder just sits there and lets a Bludger hit him. Then adding insult to injury he watches as the dropped Quaffle is scooped up by Reid. Reid races toward the Gryffindor Keeper and passes to Darke. One would hope that Darke is proud of the way his team is performing. They seem to be playing much better than the Gryffindors or the Gryffindor captain. Changing the entire line up of her team? What is she thinking, Ruby? Madam Hooch looks very annoyed at the red captain as I would be too.
"Again, Scoot does not even try to stop Reid from passing the Quaffle to Darke. It seems as if they have just resigned to let the Ravens win today's match. That's fine by me. Wait... it looks as though Bang-Bala has spotted the Snitch as she closes in on her target. Where is the Ravenclaw Seeker to stop her?" Wynd looked at his sister sitting next to him and rolled his eyes. "Will the game end this early?"

"Dang!" Edward cried as his Bludger was deflected at the last moment away from Cass. He swung his bat and struck his broom in frustration, nearly knocking him from his precious perch. "I thought that was going to go through." Suddenly the crowd went wild and Ed spun around. The Gryffindor Seeker was diving for the Snitch. "Shoot!" Ed quickly found a free bludger and sent it toward the Seeker and than, for good measure, he hurled his beater bat also.

Zoey almost screamed in frustration as she failed to deflect the Bludger, the only thing stopping her was that Cass had dodged it. She turned away and saw Edward, a Ravenclaw Beater, hitting a Bludger to Melody, who was chasing the Snitch. She smiled widely as she leaned into her broom, gripping her bat, and rushing to Melody. She raised an eyebrow and almost cursed as Edward added an extra touch- his bat. So she had to deflect a Bludger successfully and stop a bat from hitting Melody. Great. Just great. She scowled and slammed her bat against the Bludger, and closed her eyes, preparing to take a hit from the bat so Melody wouldn’t lose her view of the Snitch. After all, take one for the team…Right? Cassandra just sat and watched as the game continued. Where in the hell where her chasers? Where was her team's offense? She grumbled under her breath. She didn't think cursing under her breath would help her chaser's play, but it would definitely make her feel better. She couldn't curse too loudly though. Hooch might give her the evil eye again. Floating back in forth in front of the hoops didn't help her mood either. It just made her more antsy. Suddenly, she saw little Melody dive sharply. "The snitch!" She yelled. Melody had seen the snitch!

Sandy floated along the breeze looking for the little golden ball that everyone seemed to go nuts over. What was a 150 points anyway? Neither team had been scoring much this game. Would it actually come down to that little ball? Well, it normally did. Why would it be any different this time? Sandy suddenly saw her Ravenclaw counterpart dive. It was probably another trick, but it was her duty to check it out.

Theo felt relief in his stomach as the Quaffle sank against his Quidditch robes. "Thanks!" he yelled back at August. He flew close to the goals, where Cassandra waited. Narrowing his eyes, Theo threw the Quaffle in her direction, hoping that his shot would be too fast and too strong for her. It was then that Theo heard the roars of excitement around him. The sounds of the crowd ringing in his ears, he turned around to see Melody and Sandy streaking across the sky. The Snitch had been seen! It was almost ironic, Theo thought as he watched with wide eyes, that the two Seekers were the two youngest players on the pitch (excluding Williard sitting on the bench). "Go Sandy!" Theo yelled as his second youngest teammate zipped through the air with her opponent. Just then, though, Theo noticed the Bludger attack on Melody from Edward; which was great, of course, Sandy needed all the help she could get, and being a Chaser, you couldn't do much but watch. But then Edward went and threw his bat at Melody! "Edward, what the--!" Theo exclaimed, his voice dying in his throat as he watched the scene in horror.

"For crying out loud!" Trinity grumbled to herself as another Bludger flew past her, nearly cuffing her ears off. "d**n, that Ravenclaw Captain is good. Sorry Scott!" Thankfully her teammate had avoided the close Bludger. However, Scott was the least of Trinity's worries. The sudden excitement around the stadium made her realise that the Snitch had been seen! She twisted her head around to see the youngest Gryffindor player streaking past, Sandy Hart from the year below hot on her tail. "Go Melody!" Trinity yelled encouragingly. She looked around for a spare Bludger and saw one not too far away, jerking aimlessly around. "You're mine," she muttered to herself. She swung her bat out and cracked the Bludger towards Sandy.

"Dammit," Scott muttered under his breath. It seemed that he wasn't on top of his game today. Ravenclaw was playing a better match, and if he didn't do something soon, they'd fly away with a victory. He saw Theo with the Quaffle now, and it was clear he was probably going to try to score. Not if Scott could stop him though. He pushed forward as hard as he could, flying to where Theo was hovering in front of the goals. "Not today!" he shouted as he punched in an effort to free the Quaffle from Theo's grip.

Well, the bludgers were being well deflected and avoided as of yet, on the whole - Scott had avoided the last bludger she'd hit at him, and Cassandra had avoided the other bludger, after Zoey tried to deflect it. Theo now had the quaffle and was trying to shoot again it seemed, but that wasn't the most important thing at all...Melody had seen the Snitch, ARGH! Edward saw this before Celia and was hitting one of the bludgers towards her, and Trinity was hitting the other bludger towards Sandy, so all Celia could do was defend the poor girl, and hope that the other bludger would hit Melody despite Zoeys attempts to deflect. It was now getting to a crucial point in the game, and Celia hoped that Sandy would come from behind to catch the snitch first!

It took her a moment after that for her to make a quick decision. "Switch it up!" Her team started to move in synchonization as she pointed out their new positions.
