Julius groaned as his attempt to protect Melody was unsuccessful yet again. He wished that he had practiced at Beater more than he had in recent weeks, but what he lacked in skills he could make up for with energy. He saw Melody get hit and groaned yet again, however a fierce look replaced the look that it had held and his fpcus returned instantly.
Looking around, he saw a bludger was flying at Melody hit by that Billy something or another who had managed to get the bludger by him earlier. He noticed a change in Finn, a look of....excitement!? That could only mean one thing, he had seen the Snitch. " Oscar he sees the Snitch, you're the better Beater, can you defend Melody?" he yelled desperately at his captain. He took off after Finn. His Firebolt wasn't the best for nothing as he came to a halt inches in front of Finn to try and block him from the Snitch. Finn would have to dodge the bludger flying at him and Julius himself if he wanted to win this game.

"Riley must be asleep as she lets her older brother score once again and then hands over the Quaffle to the Hufflepuff Captain. Merlin, this is a boring game," Wynd yawned dramatically so the entire crowd could hear him. "I thought Gryffindor was supposed to be full of fighters but they seem to be rolling over and playing dead for the Badgers. Ivy has possession of the Quaffle, what is she going to do with it?" Wynd's attention was then pulled when he heard many gasps. Looking toward the Hufflepuff goal he saw the Keeper without his broom, in fact he was barely holding onto the goal posts. "Apparently he can't fly either," Wynd laughed coldly. Seth Wright was making it too easy. He vaguely wondered what happened to his broom but when he saw that Finn was going to help the Keeper he lost interest. "Ivy choses a Chaser to pass to and she choses Sophia. Both Casey and Scott look dumbfounded as the Quaffle slips through their hands and lands safely in the Hufflepuff Chaser's hands. That was more of a whimper than a roar, eh Gryffins?" Noticing movement in the sky, Wynd saw Finn back in the air chasing after something. "Finally," Wynd said under his breath but with the Sonorus spell the entire pitch could hear him. "I mean, it looks like a Seeker has spotted something."

Seth's hand found wood and held tight. He looked up to see Finn hovering worriedly beside the goal hoops and grinned weakly. "Thanks. That was close," he said, relieved he wasn't falling to the ground. Yet. "But, uh, I'm going to slip again, could you em, take me to the ground or something?" Seth laughed nervously. He looked around for his broom, but it had disappeared. What had happened to it? Finn lowered Seth to the ground so he jumped off and rolled gracelessly onto the grass. Just as Seth was about to thank Finn, a blur of gold flittered in between them. It took a second for Seth to blink and then he yelled, pointing at it, "SNITCH!"
((Oh look. It's a Snitch.))

"No No No No!" She groaned as the bludger flew right onto Oscar's bat. Suddenly the crowd began to roar. She was hoping to Merlin that the crowd was cheering for Oscar's save. Granted, he was playing a great game- but Syd wasn't about to let the first time she listened to the audiance's reactions to bring down her spirits. She watched the iron ball Oscar deflected from Melody cross the pitch. She instinctually followed it like she was hunting it for her only meal of the day. She glanced in front of her as she spotted someone wizz past her. The speed from this player was obviously different in comparison to the other player- it was a seeker, and they had spotted the snitch! The colors of Gold and Yellow blended Syd's eyes as her heart began to pound in her ears. "Go Go Go Go!" She shouted as she came to defend Finn again.

A lot had been happening in the game recently, but luckily mostly in favour of the Hufflepuffs, so Sophia was really happy! She hadn't been involved much in the game, with the quaffle mostly staying between Chace and Ivy, but now Ivy had the quaffle, and was passing to Sophia. It was an easy pass thankfully, so Sophia managed to easily catch it, and due to her proximity to the goal hoops, with little opposition it seemed. Once again she came fact to face with Riley, and hoped that this time she would be more successful than last time, and improve thei lead to 30 - 10! She once again tried her trademark shot of trying to fool the keeper into thinking she was shooting one way, but then went the other way...it had failed last time, but would it this time?
before she got close enough, she saw Finn out of the corner of her eye - it looked as if he'd seen the Snitch! As he flew closer to her she cheered him on, hoping that Melody, who'd taken a fair beating this match, wouldn't notice that he'd seen it, or at least that he would manage to get sufficiently ahead!

Oscar grinned as wood collided with iron again. The game was beginning to bore him, he had to admit; although his excitement and determination, enhanced by his irritation at various players, was still very much alive, there was an element of boredom in the routine he had with Sydney and the Bludgers. It would have been even more boring without Syd of course; she was certainly his main competition at the moment. Oscar made a mental note to get to know her off-pitch a little more before realizing that while Finn had a Bludger going at him, so did Melody. Rushing to his defense it was impossible not to hear Lehane's words as well as the scream of the crowd. The Snitch had finally been seen. His heart pumping furiously as his mind willed little Melody forwards, he tried to defend her and smack all of his tension, strength and anger towards his friend as he went for the Snitch too.

There was no way Finn could have missed it. With or without the unmistakable blur of gold, Seth's frantic shout followed by Syd's urgent prompting made it clear to Finn that the Snitch had finally made it's appearance. Slightly shocked since it chose the most inopportune moment to show itself, Finn was a bit clumsy at gaining back his control of the broom while he left Seth to fend for himself on the goalpost.
"I'm going! I'm going!" he shouted half playfully to Sydney as he zoomed past her. A smile laced his face as his heart began to beat more quickly. This was what the match was all about. It boiled down to this point where he would have to prove his skill. If Melody beat him to it, then it was all over. Hufflepuff's chances at placing for the Quidditch cup were beyond squashed if he didn't get there first. Determination pumping through his veins, Finn weaved in and out of the mass of players, following the lightning fast ball. Fingers reached every so carefully as he stretched his arm forward. Inches away...

Thoroughly pummelled by Bludgers, Melody wasn't in very good shape; she sat straddled across her broomstick, clutching her side and shin where the Bludgers had hit almost simultaneously. Of course, Finn chose this moment to spot the Snitch, with impeccably inconvenient timing. Melody gritted her teeth, pushing the pain to the back of the mind as she accelerated to a speed where everything around her was a blur, save for the golden ball which, following Finn's movement, she'd been able to spot now. She couldn't afford to slow down, even though she was slightly scared by her velocity... if she did slow down, Finn was bound to get there first. As it was, she might just make it in order to reach out her hand and grab the tiny ball away from his very fingertips. The snide voice of the commentator lost on the wind a long way back, her heart pounded wildly in her chest as she neared the Snitch, the roar of the crowd increasing with every second, but yet somehow insignificant now.

((Sydney attempts to defend Finn from Oscar’s Bludger and deflect it towards Melody. Oscar = Bludger (D6 + Str) = 1 + 5 = 6 Sydney = Defend (D8 + Str) = 2 + 5 = 7 Sydney deflects the Bludger successfully! There is a Bludger flying at Melody.

Sydney kept an even pace with Finn as she shot around the pitch in search of the snitch. Oscar was playing an awesome game as a beater and targeted the seeker every chance he got. Of course, Syd would have rather been in control of the bludgers; but keeping her team safe was what she was put in the game to do. A bludger shot at Finn as Syd kept her ground. She boxed her shoulders she swatted the iron ball away with all of her might. She felt so much power rush to her arms as she hit the ball away from Fin. "Yes!" She exclaimed as she made contact with the big ball of iron. But she didn't pay attention to if it hit Melody- She turned back to Finn and kept an eye on him to make sure no bludgers were going to fly back his way.
Soon, the game was all over. "HUFFLEPUFFS WIN!" was announced over the speaker as Syd shot over to Finn and flew into him into the air. She was shouting and congratulating him on the catch as Hufflepuff was finally on the game board. She was halfway off her broom and holding onto him as they balanced in the air. The two were not close friends- but they were teammates, and both worked together a lot in the games. "Awesome Job Finn! You're amazing!" She exclaimed with a smile from ear to ear. She was proud with her game, as well as how the rest of the team played today. She turned and saw the score board and saw the extra 10 points making Hufflepuff's score 180. "OH MY GOSH!" She shouted as she saw Sophia not too far away from her. "Good Job Girl!" she shouted still with her smile. All and all she was thrilled with how the entire team pulled their weight through the entire match!
(( So, shouting at Finn and Sophia & attacking Finn. ;D ))

Action, action everywhere! Seth looked up in awe as Finn shot off to catch the Snitch. Melody was soon on his tail and Seth found himself clutching his clothes out of nervousness and excitement. Hufflepuff had to win - they just had to! Seth knew Finn could do it. However, as Finn and Melody were battling it out for the Snitch, a loud uproar came from the other side of the pitch. Seth's eyes tore away from the Seekers to rest on Sophia, who had just scored another goal! Seth heard the announcement of thirty-ten somewhere and whooped in delight. "Yes, Sophia!" Now, if only Finn would catch the Snitch, Seth thought as his eyes quickly averted back to Finn and Melody.
When Finn's hand closed around the golden Snitch, Seth jumped up from his sitting position and punched the air exuberantly. He cheered along with the rest of the crowd as Finn swooped round the pitch, Snitch struggling in hand. Hufflepuff had won! The announcement of the final score, 180-10, was heard, and Seth grinned wide. All that hard work had paid off. A little bit exhausted from the adrenaline of the last hour or so, Seth flopped back down onto the ground and lay down, spread-eagled and staring up at the sky where the players were still zipping around. Ivy and Chace and everyone on his team had gathered around Finn, congratulating him; Seth would wait until they landed since he didn't have a broom...
It was then that he remembered he had lost his broom! Seth looked around for it, squinting his eyes up at the sky, but it was nowhere to be seen. He frowned. He still didn't know what had happened to his broom, but if he was correct, someone had jinxed it. But why? Seth would have to elicit Chace's help in finding his broom later... Now was probably not the best time. He just hoped it wasn't too damaged; Seth cherished his broom, especially since it had been Chace's gift to him a few years ago.
Talking of Chace, his shadow fell over Seth's and he grinned up at his best friend. Taking Chace's offered hand, Seth pulled himself up and stood, brushing grass off his gear. "Well done, dude," Seth grinned proudly. "We did good, huh?"

Julius groaned in disdain as Finn shot past him easily. His hopes returned when he saw a gold and scarlet figure hot on the tail of the elusive Finn. Felling rejuvenated slightly, he yelled " C'mon Melody, show him how it's done!" He watched with mounting anticipation as they got closer to the Snitch. They both had closed their hands, but only one of them had the little golden ball, and unluckily it was Finn. It was kind of ironic that he had had such bad luck the whole match, yet now he had good luck.....or possibly he had some skill, some he admitted to himself. He grudgingly looked in Finn's direction and said, " Nice one, I kind of regret stopping Cass now." but with no animosity, for a small smile was on his lips.
Looking away from Finn, he looked around at his teammates and knew they felt the same as he; they had needed the win to break the three-way tie, yet it was Hufflepuff, who had been in last, that pulled up close to everyone. But wait, Julius remembered suddenly, Scott had scored, that put Gryffindor in first, regardless of the result. His spirits hard to keep down for long, he looked at Oscar, who was looking somewhat crestfallen, and shouted torwards him, " Hey, we might have lost, but with the ten points from Scott, we move into first plac!" He was still disappointed about the loss, but they had at least gotten some good out of the match. His face was set with a tremendous grin, hoping to cheer up his teammates somewhat.
