Ezzie practically glided around her suite that day. She was going to her very first red carpet event. In Alyssa’s words, she was being launched into fame. Ezzie smiled. Launched. Like she was a rocket or something. She laughed as she picked up her magical hair curler. Once again, it flew out of her hands and started curling her hair by itself. It even burned her scalp a bit, but then when her hair was finished, it was much longer and curled as if by a professional. She smiled as she pictured herself performing for the first time in front of a live audience. She had worked hard on her new song for three weeks, and now she and Alyssa (who was now her band manager as well) felt Ezzie was ready to perform it. She jumped on her bed and started to sing. Just like she would if she were on that stage, in front of millions of people, and even more that were watching from home.
Mrs. Jacobs walked into the room, hauling a mannequin covered by a heavy black cloak. Ezzie nearly lost her balance. “Is that my dress?” She said, with a cry of delight.
“It’s your red carpet dress, your performance outfit is at the premiere.” Ezzie squealed. This was really happening. It wasn’t a dream. She wasn’t going to wake up soon in the shelter and and have to go to another sixteen hour shift at the hotel.
“Let me see!!” She cried. Mrs. Jacobs smiled. She rolled the mannequin over to her and with a tap of her wand, the cloak vanished. She yelled “TAHDAH!” and Ezzie screamed. She was staring at a short teal blue dress with a high waistline. It was a bit ruffly, but it still had a nice classy and trendy edge to it. She stared at the dress with delight. “It’s beautiful!” Ezzie exclaimed.
“And that’s just your red carpet dress!” Mrs. Jacobs said, her eyes danced with happiness. She tapped her wand to the mannequin and the dress walked itself off and onto Ezzie’s bed. She tapped it once more, and another dress appeared. It was just as beautiful as the first. This was a navy blue v-neck dress that was made of silk and leather. The top had a kind of criss-cross shoelace in the chest area, so as to be stylish and yet conservative. This dress also had a high waistline, and from the breast down, there was long flowing silk. Tears flowed into Ezzie’s eyes. “Thanks so much, Amanda. You’ve done so much!” Mrs. Jacobs gave another of her famous warm loving smiles and embraced her in a tight hug.
“Now c’mon, get dressed and meet me in the limo outside the front lobby. We’re going to a premiere.” Ezzie smiled and changed into her soft beautiful teal gown and dressed her face up in sparkling silver eye shadow, pale pink blush, black eyeliner and mascara, and of course;clear lip-gloss. She ran down into the limo where Mrs. Jacobs was dressed in an emerald green strapless dress that flowed to the ground, Mr. Jacobs was wearing a handsome looking tuxedo with an emerald green tie, and Ethan was wearing a blazer over a teal blue dress shirt and black slacks. She smiled at the family, and in almost no time, she was walking out of the white limo to see a large crowd of people with cameras and microphones, and were also dressed formally. Ezzie figured these were the infamous paparazzi that constantly followed Ethan and his family around. They immediately pounced when they saw Ethan walk out with his arm around her.
“Mr. Jacobs, who is this lovely young lady you are walking with tonight?” Said one, as she brandished a microphone in his face.
“Ethan, who’s that? Are you two dating? Who is she?” Said another, almost poking him in the eye with his microphone. Cameras everywhere were pointed at them, startling Ezzie a great deal. Ethan just smiled. He was obviously very used to this.
“This is Ezzie, and yes She’s my girlfriend. She’s going to be performing tonight. I have a feeling you guys are going to be seeing her a lot.” He flashed another award winning smile and walked away to more questioners. They asked many questions that startled Ezzie a great deal. All she did was smile, wave, answer questions, and drink apple cider. Some of the questions were normal, like “How long have you been dating?” or “How did you meet?” others were more personal, and made Ezzie feel very uncomfortable. Some of these were “Where are your parents, do they know about your boyfriend?” and “Where do you live?” and even “Where do you go to school?” Ezzie only answered the one about her parents. She answered exactly how Alyssa told her to answer. “Well, I hope they’re looking down on me right now, God Bless them.” Finally, it was time to go inside. They watched the introduction to the show, and then those who would be performing were called inside. She noticed that dressing rooms were shared by age and gender. There were two to a room, and Ezzie shared her dressing room with Eden Sweden.
Ezzie had heard about the pop sensation Eden Sweden before, but she was so busy with life at the shelter that she never got the chance to listen to her. She felt bad that she didn’t know anything about this girl, but was sure they would make friends. She had learned that some rich and famous people weren’t as snobby as some people perceive them to be. She walked up to Eden who had just walked in and smiled.
“Hi, I’m Ezzie. I’m going to be performing third tonight. What about you? When do you get up on stage?” Ezzie gave the girl a warm smile.

Casey had been Eden for none-stop, two whole days now. She barely had time to breathe. Of course, Casey was used to all of this, but sometimes it became a bit too much. It wasn’t often that Casey had to be Eden for long periods of time, but she would have to for the next two weeks. Eden was performing at a premiere in Capri among other things. Eden was also singing two concerts and she was recording a new song on the island. Bradley wanted a different feel for the song and had said that the ‘best in the business’ Namon James, would be happy to assist Eden with the new song. All of the new things excited Casey, but then again, she was a bit tried. She had only been in the city for two days, but she had a good, full two weeks to go. After that, everything would calm down for awhile as school would be starting. But, this only reminded Casey of how crazy her Winter Holidays would be. Still, Casey loved performing. She loved having the chance to be someone else and she did like her fame some-what. But, she was glad that she didn’t have it in her life twenty-four, seven like if she had became famous as Casey and not Eden. Still, the show excited her a great bit. This wasn’t Eden’s first premiere performance at all, but it was always exciting. Casey had been through nearly a year of top stardom performances, but she still loved it.
Casey watched Tessa fix her hair, through the mirror. She always did a great job. Of course, Tessa knew her secret as she had to work with the wig and not Casey’s real hair. The wig had already been placed on Casey’s head with tons of enchantments put around it to keep it from falling off. Tessa was some-what magically putting the blonde strands into beautiful ringlets. Casey smiled liking the bounciness of her hair. “Case, you don’t have much longer before we need to be there.” Bradley announced walking into the room. Casey nodded a bit. “Don’t move girl!” Tessa complained. Casey laughed. “Okay, Tess.” Tessa then turned towards Bradley. She will be done when she looks perfect. She can be late. She is after all Eden Sweden.” Casey sighed. “Eden’s not an annoying famous person, Tess.” She told her. Tessa sighed. “About that, Eden really should be more of a diva. Give her more attitude. Make her different than Casey do people won’t find out.” Casey sighed even though she realized that to some extent Tessa had a point. “Yea..” Was her only response. Bradley sighed. “Well, me and your brother are ready when you are.” She nodded. Casey smiled a bit. “Okay dad.”
Casey walked into the main room of the suite dressed completely as Eden. “Wow..” Joel announced. Eden’s hair was done in perfect curls and then pulled back into an adorable pony-tail that taken down for her performance. Her make-up had been done by Pierre who had left shortly after he had applied it so that he could get ready to change it a bit for the performance. Pierre would say that Eden was now famous enough to have to be flawless and perfect at every possible moment and that her look had to be completely different on-stage as it was off-stage. Casey had to agree with this as she loathed fighting with Pierre as he always won. Her eyes were done with a shimmering gold eye shadow with heavy black eye-liner and of course, mascara. Pierre had also applied the right amount of blush and a pink tint to her lips. Eden’s dress was short as Casey loathed wearing long dresses. It was a sleek, modern golden colored dress that was just a tad sophisticated for Eden. Eden’s look was usually glimmering and noticeable. This dress was gorgeous and shiny, but a bit more appropriate for a premiere. It had gold sequins placed in the perfect spots. Casey just loved it. “So, ready dad?” She asked. “Ready as I’ll ever be darling.”
They arrived to the premiere in a stretch hummer. It wasn’t the normal for a premiere, but Bradley had always said, ‘Dare to be different.’ The driver opened the door and Eden stepped onto the red carpet. From the moment the door was opened, flashed blinded Casey. Bradley appeared at her side along with Joel. They were both in discuses of course. Bradley was known as Brian, Eden’s manager when he was with Eden. And Joel was Eden’s brother Riley. Bradley’s hair was magically darkened for the event and he wore a mustache. Joel’s hair was magically black and he wore dark sunglasses. “Eden! You look gorgeous!” Paparazzi were saying. “Thanks.” She said smiling. “So, Eden what are you singing tonight? Why didn’t you bring a date? Is that rumor about you and the actor true?” Eden just continued to walk the red carpet, used to all the questions. Finally, she paused as one reported she had seen before asked her again what she was singing. She smiled and turned. “Tonight I’ll be performing a new single I hope you guys will love called ‘I’ve Got Nerve’.” She smiled. “Ede, it’s time to go in.” Bradley said behind her. “Wait, Brian!” A reported called. “Tell me, how is Eden’s new album doing?” He asked. Bradley smiled. “Well, it isn’t officially in production yet. We will begin production of her second album in December, but we are recording a new single here that will be featured on the album in the next couple of weeks.” Bradley and Eden smiled and followed Joel into the building. “That’s right folks. It seems that Eden Sweden will be staying in Capri awhile longer. We will certainly keep an eye out for her.”
Casey had barely had time to sit down before she was ushered behind stage to get ready for her performance. She noticed as she entered her dressing room that she would be sharing it with a new girl. She hadn’t yet noticed the name. Instantly it seemed, Tessa was fussing around her, taking her curly hair out of the pony tail. Instead of putting a different wig on Casey, Tessa had decided to work with the same one, only putting charms on it to make it straight again. The wig had all sorts of enchantment to make it strong and a beautiful shade of believable blonde. Casey loved how different it made her look. Pierre had taken to re-doings Eden make-up. With a few simple spells, Casey’s face was perfectly clean. Then he applied the new coat only she had smoky eye make-up that looked beautiful yet dark on her. Her lip color was now a near red gloss, but everything looked beautiful. Casey smiled in the mirror. “Thanks guys.” This look was completely different than what she had on the red carpet not too long before. Casey eyed her straight, glimmering hair. She then walked over to put her performance outfit. She was about to put it on but, someone entered the room that almost made Casey gasp out loud.
It was Ezzie! But, why? Casey’s thought were jumbled. Casey had heard of a new girl that was really good and people thought she would become really famous with time. Casey was screaming on the inside. She had no idea that the new girl was Ezzie. But, as she thought about it, it made since. Ethan and his parents were pretty famous. They had connections. Casey instantly wondered if Ezzie would realize that it was her, but she doubted it. “Hey, yea, I’m Eden.” She said trying to be friendly, her thoughts were jumbled. She had to act different than Casey. Ezzie would figure out if Eden’s personality was as similar as Casey’s. “Umm, I’m doing finale tonight.” She explained. Eden had never had the honor of singing last before. To some people it was a big deal, but Casey didn’t really think much of it. She usually sang somewhat in the middle or first, but this could be good. Right? Besides, the singer who was to be doing the finale dropped out on the count of some movie he was also doing. Casey sighed. Act normal. Act normal. “So, you’re new, right?” She asked not letting any meanness that was usually associated with the new girl. “It’s not as scary as it seems. In no time, someone else will be the new girl and you will be a star. It gets better and less scary.” She said confidently.

Ezzie smiled as Eden talked about how she was singing the finale, and how the experience just got easier, and a whole lot less scarier. She could have sworn Eden looked familiar, but figured she was just so used to seeing her in the tabloids and such. She completely agreed with Eden. She talked about how sooner or later, she would be the famous singer, and some other newbie would be singing before her. Ezzie figured it was a great honor to be able to perform the finale, but it must have been an every day thing for Eden. She smiled again as she spoke to the famous star. "Well, I suppose it's a bit nerve racking, but I can't wait to get up there. I've performed before, but I started out just singing on street corners for spare change. Really horrible stuff. I won't even begin to tell you why I stopped." In the back of Ezzie's mind, she remembered the night of the almost kidnapping. The fighting and screaming. The blood, sweat, and tears that came from her body that night. She remembered fainting in front of Harmony Chan's doorstep, and waking up almost an hour later after a peaceful dream of seeing her parents. She wasn't going to scare Eden by telling her all about her dreadful experience on their first encounter. After all, she had only just started telling her closest friends about her true home life. She grinned, as she went behind a screen door in the room to change into her beautiful black gown. She also removed her wand from her handbag and re-did her makeup. Her face was dark and mysterious, with black eyeliner and mascara, and deep red lips. Her eye shadow remained silver, but otherwise, it was completely different. She first placed on a tight pair of jeans, for her surprise in the middle of the performance. She was to rip off the long skirt and kick it backstage, revealing a short leather top, with string lacing all the way down the center. She smiled as she placed her wand back into her bag and hooked it on the doorknob. She came out from behind the screen door and smiled again.
So? How do I look?" Ezzie asked Eden, but before she could answer, Alyssa appeared in the doorway. "Ezzie! You're on! Get on that stage!" Ezzie had not a second to lose. She slipped on her high, thin black heels and ran onto the stage. She almost gasped. There were millions of people staring at her and about twenty camera's staring at her. She took a deep breath as she walked on to the stage with a grin. Alyssa pointed at the camera closest to her from backstage and Ezzie watched the words that were on the screen just above the lens. "Hi, everyone! I'm Ezzie and I'm here to sing my newest song. It's actually the first one I've ever made, but I'm sure you'll all love it. You may not know me yet, but you will!" Ezzie beamed again as she walked to center stage and placed the microphone on its stand. The lights dimmed, and all eyes were on her. She started in a low and quiet voice, just as practiced. "As I swim mermaids dance with me And I drown they romance with me They sing sweet little harmonies Louder and louder until I can't breathe..." The audience started applauding as her voice grew louder. "Hey blue bird on my shoulder, Can you carry me over?" The band behind her grew louder as she ripped off the skirt she was wearing and threw it backstage. The audience clapped. She was now wearing a short leather top with dark tight jeans.
"I talked to blue bird, she said why walk when you can fly? She told me, baby life tastes better when you're high I said hey blue bird can you take me for a ride Leave me on a cloud, I'll live with blue birds in the sky" Her voice grew low and fierce as she sang the next verse.
"As I walk I can feel the heat As it burns I can smell the sweet Piece by piece I am yours to feast All this pain is seducing me..." She grabbed the mic and started walking around the stage, just as practiced. The last verse was coming.
"Hey blue bird on my shoulder Can you carry me over?" The audience clapped and whistled. They were loving her. She raised her voice so loud this time, she was almost screaming.
"I talked to blue bird, she said why walk when you can fly? She told me, baby life tastes better when you're high I said hey blue bird can you take me for a ride Leave me on a cloud, I'll live with blue birds in the sky." The song ended with a guitar solo and Ezzie bowed and left the show. She wiped a bead of sweat off her brow and took a sip of water. She let out a sigh of relief and noticed Alyssa push herself through the crowd of crew members. She was beaming. "That was great Ezzie! Your name will be all over the tabloids by tomorrow morning!" Ezzie beamed back at her and gave her a large hug. She took another sip as she entered her dressing room. Eden was in there.

Eden nodded trying to remain as calm as possible. But, on the inside, Casey was freaking out. One of her best-friends was standing right in front of her and had no clue who Eden really was. Casey really just wanted to blurt out of true identity, but she couldn’t do it. Casey couldn’t tell the truth even to Ezzie. It was too risky. It just was. So, finally Casey decided to put her thoughts and feeling aside and just pretend. After all, she did that on a normal basis. But, she knew this was different. Casey wasn’t pretending in front of fans anymore. She was pretending in front of one of her best-friends and it was a difficult thing to do. Casey listened to Ezzie’s words. Of course, she knew all that Ezzie was saying, but she tried her best to look surprised. After all, Ezzie wasn’t good friends with Eden, she was good friends with Casey. Eden just continued to smile trying to come up with the words to tell Ezzie. She wanted to get her prepared. She wanted her to do a good job, but the things Casey wanted to say would be more comforting if she could say them as Casey, but she couldn’t. She sighed tired of all the thinking that she was doing inside her brain. It was wearing her out.
“Wow, that’s..” She said in response to Ezzie’s singing on the streets comment. With all her might, Eden was attempting a surprised face. “Well, at least you’re here now. New life, eh?” She asked knowing already that the life Ezzie was headed for was unlike anything else in the world. Casey knew this of course. When she realized how different her life would be, she decided to make up the secret so that she could live life normally and still do what she loved. Ezzie of course wasn’t going to have that option. It was too late for her to get a normal life. She was already getting attention and she hadn’t even sung yet. “It’s a new experience.” She referred to singing in front of so many people. “I want to say you will do fine, but I’ve learned over the past year that fine isn’t a word they use in the music industry. It’s ‘perfect’ or nothing.” She mimicked talent scout Frank Masters. He had discovered Casey, but he was a jerk really. “But I say be yourself, and you’ll be perfect.” She said nodding.
Ezzie then disappeared into the change room leaving Casey in the room alone. She walked over to the mirror and started to practice some of her dance moves, but she knew them perfectly already so there wasn’t much to practice. When Ezzie came out and asked how she looked, Eden was about to say fabulous when a lady came in and beckoned Ezzie onstage. Casey assumed that she was Ezzie’s manager, but she had never seen the lady before. As Ezzie left, Casey turned to the dressing room needing to put her performance outfit on. Her performance look was always rock casual as she called it. The outfit for this particular show was more glam than Eden usually wore, but she always wore something fantastic. The black top was beaded and fabulous. With it, Eden wore black beaded jewelry and sparkling, silver earrings. Eden wore a red skirt that Casey had designed herself. Not many people would even dare to wear the skirt, but Casey loved it. It wasn’t too flashy. It was for Eden. Casey eyed Eden’s long blond hair before she turned to go to the stage and watch most of Ezzie’s song.
Casey had never known that Ezzie had such a beautiful voice. Yes, she had known that her friend loved to sing, but she had never heard her sing. Casey didn’t make it a habit to bring up her love of music in front of her friends. She didn’t want them to catch on to her secret in any way. Casey beamed at her friend who didn’t even had a clue that Casey was watching. Nope. Casey wished that Ezzie would have known that she was there for her, but she couldn’t. So, she slipped back into the dressing room, knowing that she had a while before she was to sing. Eden smiled as Ezzie emerged into the dressing room. “That was great. I hereby crisen you as not the new kid anymore.” She said laughing. “Ready to be thrown into a world of fame, Ms. Mendez?”

This was the greatest feeling in the world. She had been so wonderful out there, so beautiful. Her voice hurt a bit, but the pain was nothing compared to how amazing Ezzie felt. There were so many people out there, all of them enjoying her music. They were clapping and singing along after a few verses. Some were dancing, others were taking pictures, but all of them looked happy. All of them had enjoyed her performance. What a wonderful feeling it was to see all of those people enjoying her music. The feeling of being up on that stage was enough to keep her happy for a lifetime. It was nothing like singing on her corner. When she sang at her corner, it was all for work. She had enjoyed singing, but felt relieved when she could finally stop. This feeling was so different, so pure. She could have done that all night, and maybe some in the morning even. She was so grateful for all that had happened to her. She absentmindedly rubbed the small scar at the side of her face. It was concealed by make-up, as it always was. The scar from the kidnapping. The healers said it would never vanish, and that it would be there forever. It didn't bother Ezzie much, and it never hurt. But just the mere presence of the scar sickened her. She couldn't help but thank it though, because if it wasn't for that huge event, Ezzie probably would have never been able to get up on that stage and experience such a feeling of happiness. Ezzie smiled as Ethan walked up to her with orchids in his hands. He was smiling too.
"You were amazing out there, Ez." He kissed her cheek and Ezzie blushed. "Was I really that fantastic?"
""You were more than fantastic Ez, you were beautiful." Ezzie smiled.
"I've got to go change, then maybe we can go out to a restaurant or something later?" Ethan smiled his approval and Ezzie walked back into her dressing room to change back into her other dress, carrying the beautiful orchids in her hands. Eden was standing in the dressing room looking rather bored. She wasn't going on stage until the finale. Well, Ezzie could keep her company while she waited. She could go back into the audience to watch the show, but it was much better backstage. Ezzie laughed as Eden congratulated her on her performance. Ezzie smiled.
"Thanks Eden. That means a lot coming from you." Ezzie thought for a moment. If only her friend Casey were here, then this night would be perfect. They would laugh and have a good time, and obsess over the many celebs that were here. She knew Casey would go crazy at the sight of some of these stars. Maybe she should call Casey, and see what she was doing. Maybe she could talk to Eden. She wasn't sure if Casey was a fan of Edens, but Ezzie would find out soon enough. She took out her cell phone.
"Eden, could you hold on one moment? I'm just going to make a quick phone call to a friend of mine. I'm so upset Casey couldn't be here. She'd probably love to meet you. I invited her but she couldn't come." Ezzie started to dial Casey's cell phone number.

“From me?” She raised an eye-brow and then smiled. “I promise Ezzie. I’m a kid just like anyone else.” She said nodding. This time, Casey really wasn’t lying. Finally, she was telling the truth. Well, most of it. She did live a life as Casey normally, but she did had concerts and different things as Eden constantly. So, maybe she wasn’t really telling the truth. Casey pushed that thought from her mind. She hated thinking about it so she figured she could forget it for a night. After all, it was a good night. She eyed herself in the mirror before turning back to Ezzie. She really had a beautiful voice. She had a completely different style than Eden, but it was Ezzie’s own style. If Casey was famous and not Eden, her style would pretty much be the same on-stage. Well, maybe a bit less glitzy. Casey sighed looking at Ezzie. She wished that she could tell her friend how well she had just done. For a moment, Casey thought of telling Eden, but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t bring herself to do it. Not yet anyways. Maybe with some time, maybe.
However, it didn’t seem that Casey would be given this chance. Ezzie told Eden that she was going to call her friend Casey who couldn’t come tonight. Casey ran towards Ezzie. “No!” She shouted. “I mean. Umm, are you sure that won’t bum her out or anything?” She tried to recover from her outburst. “I mean, she it might upset her and you wouldn’t wan to do that, right?” But, it was too late. Ezzie had already called Casey’s phone. She heard it ringing. The ring-tone was one of her own songs, If I Were a Movie, it was her favorite song. Casey rushed over to the phone and flipped it off. She then looked back to Ezzie. “Wow, how weird was that?” She asked with a goofy grin on her face there was no way that Ezzie would bye any of this. She wasn’t stupid after all. Eden eyed Ezzie waiting for her to say something, but suddenly someone unexpected entered the room.
“Hey Casey dad wanted me to give you your lucky ring, the one Wendi gave you!” Joel called as he opened the door. Casey eyed her brother with her mouth opened. Ezzie of course knew Joel. Eden placed her hand over her face. “Oh, Ezzie. Hi! Umm..” He thought for a moment. “I’m Eden Sweden’s assistant!” He tried to recover. He walked over and gave Casey the ring. Casey was sure that Ezzie had seen her wearing it before. “I just get Casey confused with Eden sometimes. Silly me, Casey is in the apartment it London, I mean in Newport!” Casey eyed Joel. “Joel.” She said walking over to him. A goofy grin was on her face. “Yes?” He asked. “You suck this!” She nearly screamed at him. He nodded and then left the room. “Ezzie I can explain. I can!” She waited to see what her friend would say.

Ezzie laughed yet again when Eden said she was a kid, and should be treated like every normal kid out there. Ezzie understood Eden's intentions, but no matter what she aid, Eden Sweden was famous and rich. She was not just like every other kid. This would be Ezzie in a short amount of time. She would no longer be that creepy poor girl, she would be the world famous Ezzie Mendez. In a short time, she would be different too. Ezzie felt sorry for Eden, even though she soon would be following in her footsteps. Being famous must have been cool, but it must have gotten very annoying to some extent. All the people following her around, watching her every move. People probably never treated her the same, all because she was an amazing singer. It was sad how these things happened, but that was life. To be honest, that was life under the public eye. Ezzie felt bad she couldn't agree with Eden on the matter of fame, but shrugged it off. She picked up her phone and started to dial.
The second her finger pressed the send button, Eden exclaimed in protest. She didn't want Ezzie to call Casey in fear it would bum her out. Although that was what she said. What happened next proved Eden had ulterior motives. The phone in Eden's bag started to ring. She ran over and turned it off with an awkward grin. At first, Ezzie wondered what Eden Sweden was doing with her friend's phone, but then it came to her. Eden looked familiar not because she was famous, but because Ezzie had seen her before, as her friend CASEY! Ezzie couldn't believe this. Casey Allen was Eden Sweden? Eden Sweden was Casey Allen? It didn't make sense! It couldn't be true! Ezzie absolutely refused to believe it.
"There's got to be some mistake!" Ezzie sputtered. "You're not..." Ezzie couldn't speak. She tried again. "You can't be..." Suddenly, someone burst through the door. At first glance, it was Eden's brother Riley. But once Ezzie looked closer, it was just Casey's brother Joel with darker hair and a fake mustache. All this time, Casey was Eden. She hadn't once bothered to tell one of her best friends. Not once. How could Casey keep such a secret from her? Especially when Ezzie had poured her heart and soul out to Casey. She told her everything, and Casey had told her nothing. Joel didn't need to speak before Ezzie figured out what was going on. She barely noticed Eden, or Casey or whoever she was yelling at her brother. She needed to sit down. She couldn't breathe. Ezzie grasped for air, trying to spell out the words "inhaler" without actually speaking them. It was like a terrible game of charades. She could feel her face growing paler, she could feel herself drifting away from consciousness. She had to stay awake. She couldn't pass out. All she had to do was wait for Casey to finally realize her friend was just behind her, trying to breathe. It was like her lungs had just stopped working. Almost as if they had shut down. Ezzie hoped with all her might Casey would realize what was going on in time. Before it was too late.

Ezzie knew. It wasn’t as if it had been hard to realize. Joel had been a dead giveaway calling out Casey’s name like that. Plus, the fact that his black hair charm was fading away revealing his blond hair. He must have forgotten that he was supposed to be Riley by the way he acted. Casey sighed as he left she looked at Ezzie knowing her friend couldn’t be happy with her at the moment. Casey had lied to her, deceived her all because she was scared. All because she couldn’t tell the truth. Ezzie had told Casey everything about her life. Everything. But, Casey couldn’t return the favor. She was too scared. She was too. She just couldn’t do it. But, now it was done. Casey wondered if Ezzie would forgive her, if Ezzie would understand. Casey wouldn’t understand if Ezzie had did this to her. So, why would Ezzie feel differently? Guilt flooded over Casey. If only she hadn’t been so afraid of Ezzie’s reaction. If she only could have told her, things would be different. But, she hadn’t told her and things weren’t different. Casey had never felt guiltier than she did now. Why couldn’t she have just told the truth that night at Ethan’s house?
“Ezzie I’m so sorry!” Casey called running over to her friend. She tried to get her wig off, but it was magically glued to her head. “I mean this happened so fast and I wanted to have a normal life. Then, I got used to it and I couldn’t tell the truth. I was scared I would loose all my friends. I was scared that they would like Eden more than Casey!” She explained. But, it didn’t seem that Ezzie was listening. No, something was wrong. Casey knew Ezzie very well. It was something about her face. Casey soon realized that Ezzie couldn’t breathe. Had she ever had problems with this before? Casey wasn’t sure. Ezzie was trying to say something, but Casey didn’t know what. She got close to her friend, Casey was nearly forced to tears. “I don’t..” She said crying holding on to Ezzie’s wrists trying to figure out what she needed. “Inhaler!” She screamed realizing what Ezzie needed. Casey glanced about the room. Finally, she eyed an inhaler on the counter. She assumed that it was Ezzie’s. Casey ran over and snatched it up. She ran back to Ezzie. “Ezzie stay awake! Here me? Stay awake!”
Casey pushed the inhaled up to Ezzie’s lips. The next part was all up to Ezzie. Casey didn’t know how to use one of these things. She didn’t have this problem, but Casey was known for passing out when she got over-heated or over-agitated or something. Casey waited for Ezzie to get better. She would feel horrible if something happened to Ezzie because of what she told her. “Breath Ezz!” Casey called trying not to work herself up too hard, but she couldn’t help it. She was anxious and nervous not to mention supposed to go on stage in twenty-minutes, but she wouldn’t even let herself think about that. “Don’t pass out Ezzie.” She begged. Casey was nearly now in tears. “Be okay. Be okay.” She whispered mostly to herself waiting for something, anything to happen.

Ezzie could feel her eyelids drop. It was almost time. She was going to pass out. Casey wasn't going to notice what was going on. She tried helplessly to stay awake, to keep breathing. All Casey did was babble on about how she had been afraid Ezzie wouldn't like her anymore if she had told. It made no sense. Of course Ezzie would still be friends with Casey! There was no doubt about it! Ezzie wished she could tell Casey that, but she kind of had a bit of a problem breathing. Nothing her inhaler couldn't fix, though. If only Casey would just understand that Ezzie needed it to survive. Just when Ezzie was about to give up hope and let herself pass out, Casey thrust an inhaler into her mouth. She obviously didn't know how to use it, so Ezzie weakly pressed her hand onto the button that let the medicine smoke into her lungs. This was no ordinary inhaler. It stopped her problems the second they started. Ezzie never had one before, for they cost too much money. Now that Ezzie had the money, she was able to buy herself help. Ezzie gasped and coughed as the warm sparkling air returned to her lungs. She could finally breathe again. She took a deep breath and stared at Casey. Now that she could breathe, she could finally adress the problem she was being faced with. She couldn't believe Casey had kept such a secret from her, but at the same time, she understood why she did it. She wanted a life seperate from that of Eden's. She wanted people to like her for who she was, not for how much money she made. Casey was probably afraid of losing all her real friends to Eden. Most shallow people would take advantage of Casey for her fame, try befriend her only because of it. Ezzie understood why she had done such a thing. She just couldn't understand why Casey had kept it a secret so long. Or how, for that matter. Ezzie would be bursting to tell her friends if it had been her. Ezzie couldn't be trusted with such a secret. "I understand." Ezzie said with a weak smile, trying to sit up. "You didn't want any fake friends. It's okay. I just wish you would have told me sooner, instead of making me find out this way." Ezzie took calm slow breaths, just as her healer ordered. "And I want you to know you don't have to worry about that with me. I knew Casey first, and Casey will always be my best friend." Ezzie smiled and got up. She looked in the mirror. She was still very pale, but the color was slowly coming back to her face. She smiled and turned around. "Good luck on your performance, by the way. I'm sure Eden and Casey will do..." Ezzie searched for the right word. "...perfect." Ezzie continued with a warm smile. It was amazing how much the media had affected young Casey's life and descisions. If it wasn't for their brutality, Casey probably wouldn't be forced to take such a path. Ezzie wasn't sure she liked the idea of being famous so much anymore. It was too overwhelming. Ezzie brushed off the thought. It was her choice to do this in the first place. She had already signed the contract. She had made her choice. There was no turning back now. ((sorry for the short replys I've been giving lately, I've got so much to do it's hard to keep up with all this. But in the words of myself, it was really my choice. ))

Casey waited in anticipation. Be okay. Please be okay. She begged Ezzie from inside her head. Casey knew that this wouldn’t help any, but she couldn’t help screaming inside her brain. Casey could do nothing more to help Ezzie. It was all up to her now. Casey smiled, actually, laughed when Ezzie used the inhaler and returned to normalness. “Are you..” She paused. “Ezzie you..” She paused again. “Come here!” She pretty much screamed pulling her friend in and hugging her. Casey had never been so scared before. She hated to see her friend like that especially after Ezzie had learned the biggest secret Casey had ever kept. If Ezzie hadn’t been okay, Casey would have blamed herself. She was sure of that. Maybe if she had told Ezzie a long time ago that never would have happened. Casey said this to herself over and over, but it didn’t help any. Casey felt completely guilty for everything that had just happened. For the lying, for what could have happened to Ezzie. She had never felt guiltier for anything in her entire life. Casey had to take several deep breaths of air before she felt normal again. She felt clammy, but this was normal for. Casey eyed Ezzie. “Ezzie I’m so sorry.” She mumbled letting a couple of tears fall. “You do?” Casey looked taken aback when Ezzie said that she understood. Casey had never told anyone because she feared that they wouldn’t understand. She feared that they wouldn’t like her for her. Now Ezzie was saying the exact opposite. Casey could have told her the truth all along. She nodded to everything Ezzie said. “Ezzie I wanted to tell you, I was just afraid. I made up the secret before we were so close. Not many people know actually and it was just a hard thing for me to do.” She sighed and smiled as Ezzie spoke. Casey laughed. “Thanks. And Ezzie will always be my best-friend and though she’s famous now too.” Casey smiled. “I wanted to hug you when you got off that stage so bad. You did awesome!” She exclaimed. Casey smiled. She was glad that Ezzie finally knew the truth. No more lies. “Eden Sweden?” A call came from behind the door. “Yes?” Casey called still looking to Ezzie. “You’re on in five.” She nodded. “Okay!” She called back. Casey instantly looked to Ezzie. “Are you gonna be okay?” She asked about what had happened minutes before. Then, Casey turned to the mirror still waiting for Ezzie to say something. “Yikes!” She exclaimed at the messed-up make-up. Then, make-up began to fly at her, re-doing itself. “Thank you.” She said to the make-up as it finished its work. Casey then turned to Ezzie. “Hey, will you come watch? I think I’m going to do a new song. I think you might like it.” She said pulling her friend with her out of the dressing room and to backstage. Casey looked at the stage manager and whispered something in his ear. “You sure?” She asked socked. “Positive.” She told him. He nodded and then ran off somewhere. “Stay right here.” Casey said smiling as let go of Ezzie’s hand and walked onto the stage when she was given the cue. Casey winked to Ezzie who was right offstage. Eden smiled at all the screams. The screams continued for a moment, but Eden only smiled. “Hey guys!” She called finally as things began to settle down with time. “I’m Eden Sweden and it’s awesome to be here.” More screams erupted. Eden looked to the cameras. “This is the last song of the night guys!” She called. “Now, I know I promised my new single that some of you know, Pumpin’ Up The Party.” More screams. Casey knew that it was a pretty popular song, but she didn’t realize that people loved it this much. “But, there has been a change of plans.” Silence. “I’m singing a new song that will go on my new album that comes out next spring I wrote this for my best-friend E..mily!” She screamed. Casey looked to Ezzie hoping that she would understand. “It’s called True Friend. I hope you guys like it.” Screams erupted. We sign our cards and letters BFF You've got a million ways to make me laugh You're lookin' out for me; you've got my back It's so good to have you around
You know the secrets I could never tell And when I'm quiet you break through my shell Don't feel the need to do a rebel yell Cause you keep my feet on the ground
You're a true friend You're here till the end You pull me aside When something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night 'Til it's alright again You're a true friend
You don't get angry when I change the plans Somehow you're never out of second chances Won't say "I told you" when I'm wrong again I'm so lucky that I've found
A true friend You're here till the end You pull me aside When something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night 'Til it's alright again
True friends will go to the ends of the earth Till they find the thing you need Friends hang on through the ups and the downs Cause they've got someone to believe in
A true friend You're here till the end You pull me aside When something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night No need to pretend You're a true friend You're here till the end Pull me aside When something ain't right Talk with me now and into the night 'Til it's alright again You're a true friend
As she finished singing in dancing, everyone stood to their feet. Eden grinned. “Awesome! You guys are great!” She called. “Look out for my second album coming out in April. You guys are great!’ Eden smiled and left the stage. She looked to Ezzie. “What did you think?” She asked. “Things might be different Ezz, but I hope they will sort of still be the same..”

Ezzie understood completely why Casey was so afraid of being discovered. She was afraid, and fear was common. Casey wanted to do what she loved but at the same time, keep her own life completely separate from that of a pop star. Ezzie wished she could do that, but at the same time she liked having only one life. It was so much simpler her way, yet it was ten times more difficult. To Ezzie’s way of thinking, when it came to fame, there was no in between. There was no middle. It was all or nothing. You could either be famous and deal with the paparazzi, the fake friends, and the constant pressure to be perfect, or you could be normal. She could either be the new Ezzie, or the old Ezzie. The old Ezzie would be at work right now, making her last rounds of the day and getting ready to go home. Ezzie glanced up at the clock. It was already about ten thirty. The show would be ending soon. It was almost time for Casey to do her performance. Ezzie wished with all her might Casey would do well during her show. Ezzie had seen Eden sing, and she knew she would do splendidly. Ezzie had always been a very understanding person. She had always seen life in the other person’s shoes, and therefore always saw where the other person was coming from. She was very level headed in most situations and always thought of herself as the mediator between her friends and newly found family. It was the way she had been raised. She was born in Cuba, where everyone settled things in an argument. Ezzie didn’t like to argue. She talked things out, and if her temper flared (which it often did) she would argue and fight. Ezzie had learned valuable street smarts while growing up on her own in London. She knew where everything was, who everyone was, and how to deal with most situations. Such skills had come in handy during every day life.
Ezzie smiled at Casey as she hugged her tight. Ezzie could practically feel the guilt pouring all out of her body. She had been so guilty for everything she had done even though there was really no need to. Casey had excellent reasons for the things she did and said. She shouldn't have waited for Ezzie to find out this way, but what choice did she have? These things tended to happen. Ezzie was sure that if given the time, Ezzie would have been told eventually. She would have preferred it that way. Ezzie knew she wouldn't have wanted to tell Casey her secrets right away, especially not before she was ready. Ezzie wondered what it would be like if people were pressuring her to tell the world her secrets. Her tale about being kidnapped and growing up in Cuba. Her secrets about being a witch and going to Hogwarts. If she would tell at all, she would tell on her own time, on her own terms. She would never ask for some paparazzi to catch a photo of her doing magic or something of that sort. This should have been a right Casey should have been granted when it came to her secret. At least she was one of the few that knew about Casey's secret. She would hate for it to ever get out into the open. Ezzie swore to herself she would carry Casey's secret to her grave. She wouldn't tell a soul, not even Ethan. Even though Ethan was the man she most trusted, she would never tell him her friend's secret. Not unless Casey gave her permission on the subject anyway. No, Ezzie would surely never tell a soul about Casey. Not now, not ever.
Casey let go of Ezzie and went to fix her extremely smudged make-up just after a woman called Eden on stage. She was surely going to go watch Casey sing as Eden. She had heard of her songs, and enjoyed quite a few of them. They weren't really Ezzie's style though, as she was a bit more hardcore. Her music had a sort of thirst to them; a thirst to be free of this life and to go somewhere far away to live a better one. Ezzie supposed Ezzie had that thirst; that burning desire in her heart. Her first song was called blue bird, and it was like a direct mirror into Ezzie's life and feelings. Blue Bird was all about being free like a bird and getting away from it all. Ezzie wished she could do that a lot also. Her life seemed so perfect sometimes, but her songs were basically about her past experiences, not her present happiness. Eden had written more about the present and the future, things that were to come or were happening to her at the moment. That was one of many huge differences between the two singers. Eden's music was much more about having fun and enjoying life as a teen. Casey was all about that as well. She was always smiling and having fun. How had she not noticed the connection before? Ezzie didn't dance, whereas Eden had dance moves to her entire concert performance. Ezzie's voice was so much deeper, so much more serious. Eden was more fun and carefree. It was amazing how two best friends could be so entirely different, yet have so much in common. Ezzie shook her head and laughed as Casey pulled her out of the dressing room. She walked on stage to loud screams and whistles. There were so many people out there screaming their heads off, and it was all for Eden Sweden. She announced her new song and started to sing. Ezzie felt like crying. Her song was called true friends.
She sang all about a best friend, one that liked her for who she was, and not for what she was known for. The song had been written for Ezzie, and she laughed as Eden told the audience her friend Emily had helped her write it. Emily was code for Ezzie, it was obvious. Ezzie watched in awe an amazement as Eden danced and sang smoothly and expertly around the stage. The audience was singing along with her, and having an all around good time. Eden left the stage and definitely came back as Ezzie's best friend Casey. She laughed and asked Ezzie how she did. It was obvious to her. Anyone with eyes, ears, and a soul would know that she performed perfectly. As a fan, Ezzie would say that Eden did amazing and looked beautiful. But Ezzie was Casey Allen's best friend, Casey's true friend. Ezzie had something much different to say.
"Eden I can't believe you even had to ask me how you did. You were amazing out there, and the audience loved you. I hereby dub you officially grand finale worthy. ENCORE! ENCORE! BRAVO EDEN, BRAVO!" She clapped and applauded playfully along with the audience. Things would never be the same between Ezzie and Casey again. And yet, they would always be the best of friends. Casey and Ezzie were definitely true friends.
((yay! You finally squeezed a decent post out of me.))

Ezzie knew. Ezzie finally knew. Maybe she didn’t found out in the perfect way, but at least she finally knew. No more lies, no more secrets. Casey could tell Ezzie when Eden had a concert, invite her to some even. Casey didn’t have to lie about where she spent her summer vacations or what she would be doing over winter break. She could tell the truth without one care in the world. Casey trusted Ezzie. She always had. She had just been scared to let her guard down, to tell someone her age. But, now Ezzie knew and Casey was certain that Ezzie wouldn’t tell. Casey was so glad that someone outside her family knew. Someone who didn’t have to accept her because of blood accepted her. Casey and Ezzie now shared several secrets. Ezzie had told Casey a good bit of her home situation, things that Casey would have never guessed and they were both witches. They both carried that secret around, not telling a soul for there would be consequences if they did. Casey didn’t have anymore secrets to tell. They were all out. Well, the important ones anyways. Casey didn’t tell anyone that she loathed cloudy days, but that wasn’t a secret anyone would be dying to tell. Casey was feeling less and less guilty by the second. She was letting those feelings slip away. She didn’t have another care in the world for the moment and that was the way Casey liked it.
Casey smiled coming backstage after her performance. She was glad that she had switched the songs at the last minute. True Friends seemed to fit better than Pumpin’ Up The Party for the moment. Casey grinned to herself. Her first finale and she didn’t mess up! That was a victory in itself. She had accomplished something that seemed truly scary, but not really anymore. Now Casey knew that she could do it again, do it better. Casey smiled at what Ezzie had to say. She was nearly on the verge of tears. Actually, she was crying. “You’re the best.” She said hugging her friend. Casey then leaned over and whispered in her ear. “And that’s Casey to you missy.” She joked playfully even though Ezzie would have to call her Eden while she was dressed up. Still, Casey was Ezzie’s best-friend. Casey was glad that Ezzie understood this. Casey felt a bit of relief that the show was over. Finally, she could gather up all her thoughts on what had happened that evening. She laughed almost, glad that Ezzie finally knew. “Ezzie you were awesome. I think you’re going to give Ede…I mean me a run for my money!”
Just then, Bradley walked up, his mustache still on. “Hey Ezz..I mean young lady.” He said pretending to not know her. Casey laughed. “She knows dad.” “Huh?” Bradley exclaimed. Casey nodded. “While I’ll be. You do have guts Ede.” Casey laughed, poking her dad playfully. He smiled at Ezzie and then looked back to Eden. “Well, the Media Parasites are at the waiting for you guys for a quick interview and such. So hurry up, slow birds.” Casey laughed and then looked to Ezzie as Bradley left. “I can get you out of that if you want so you can go hang-out with Ethan. I’ve been doing this for about a year and I’m good at diversions.” She laughed. “So, what are you going to do Miss Mendez?” She asked playfully.

Casey walked out from the stage and gave her a great big hug. She could feel all the guilt puring out of her body and replaced by immense relief. Ezzie smiled. She liked it when her friends were happy. Ezzie always thought she shared a special connection with those closest to her. Casey especially. She would always know what they were feeling, she could always put her life in someone else's shoes. If Casey felt guilty before, Ezzie knew full well about it. She wasn't happy about Casey's guilt, but she knew it was there. Ezzie really felt no reason why Casey should be guilty. Casey may have been a Gryffindor, but she still had fears, just like every other normal teen. She was afraid of change, just like everyone else. The only difference was the change involved her best friend finally knowing that she was secretly a pop star. She had fears of being discovered. What if Ezzie wasn't such a good friend, and she had leaked the secret out into the public? Most importantly, Casey had a desperate fear of the unknown. She didn't know what would happen to her relationship with her best friend. She didn't know whether or not it was safe to tell. She didn't know if Ezzie would ever speak to her again after hearing the secret. These were normal fears one would have to go through when dealing with a situation like Casey's. It was perfectly understandable, and there was no need to feel so guilty. This was why Ezzie was glad to hear the relief in her voice when she spoke. She was glad her friend was happy once more. There was nothing to hide. Her secret was out, only not completely. Casey finally understood that her secret was safe with Ezzie, and the fact that Ezzie knew her secret hadn't changed their relationship in any way. Ezzie and Casey were best friends. No secret was going to come between them. Ezzie was sure of it.
Just then, Casey's father Bradley walked up to them and greeted Ezzie warmly, but stopped himself later on addressed her as 'young lady'. He looked quite odd with the fake mustache and darker hair. It looked very odd indeed. Casey explained to her father that Ezzie knew, and immediately received his approval of the matter with a slight tease. Ezzie did love Casey's family. Even though Casey didn't have a mother, her family was still one of the best she'd ever seen. Her father was kind and loving, and did everything in his power to care for his daughter. Bradley definitely made up for Casey's missing mother. He even reminded Ezzie a lot of her parents, before they had gone crazy and tried to drown her. They had been kind and loving too. They never once laid a finger on her until that day. As for Casey's brother Joel, he was amazing. Ezzie never had any siblings, but if she did, they would probably be much like Joel. He was a very odd boy, but he was a good brother to Casey. They had their moments (often) when they fought constantly, but deep inside, Ezzie could tell that Casey and Joel shared a unique bond together, and cared for each other indefinitely. Ezzie knew that being famous was a lot of pressure to handle, and as if that wasn't enough, the Allen family had to deal with the secret as well. But even through that, Ezzie couldn't find two better families than the Allens and the Jacobs. She smiled as Bradley explained that the ever so infamous media crew were awaiting their appearance on the red carpet for a quick interview of some sort. Casey offered to create a diversion for Ezzie so she could have some alone time with Ethan, but she didn't need it. The couple did live together after all, so alone time wasn't scarce. Plus, Alyssa had told her she needed as much good publicity tonight as she could possibly snag, so she really needed to get out there.
"Nah, that's okay." Ezzie said with a smile. "My manager says I have to get as much positive attention as I can tonight, so I've got to be there while they stab my eye out with those microphones." Ezzie walked with Casey (who was obviously still dressed as Eden) onto the red carpet once more, only to be practically blinded by flashing camera lights and almost deafened by hundreds of screaming fans. Upon seeing Ezzie walk out onto the red carpet, a woman and a couple of camera men almost trampled her on her way over to where she was standing. She jabbed the microphone in her face, looking triumphant that she had been the first to speak to Ezzie. Others looked quite disappointed, but were ready to pounce the second the woman left. Ezzie noticed a man with a microphone and a couple of cameras behind him approach Casey, keeping her completely occupied.
"Your performance tonight was amazing Ezzie! So tell us, do you and your beau have any plans for future appearances on the red carpet or elsewhere?" The woman asked, as Ezzie smiled, the skirt from her lovely navy blue dress hugging her hips once again. Ezzie thought back to the night in the hotel suite when Alyssa had told her everything she needed to say. She needed to say all the right things, or else she had no hope of selling her album in December.
"Thanks!" Ezzie said happily. "Well, I'm currently working on an album, and I'm going to be doing a lot of guest performances like the one I just did. As for Ethan; well let's just say he's a fun guy to have around." Ezzie smiled as the camera moved in closer to her face. "So, you said earlier that your parents were dead. Who cares for you then? Do they know you are in a relationship with Ethan? Why aren't they here now?" Ezzie smiled awkwardly. Alyssa had told her to always smile, no matter what you were feeling inside. "Well, I'm going to have to go with a 'no comment' on that one. I've got to get out of here anyway. Places to go, things to see! Nice speaking with you all!" Ezzie almost ran over to her limo, dodging random interviewers along the way. When she finally reached inside, Tony informed her that the Jacobs were still inside, and that they would be there for a while. They said to go without them. Ezzie shrugged, wondering what they could possibly be doing. She squeezed into the small limo fireplace and flooed all the way over to her hotel suite in Capri. She brushed the ashes off her dress and collapsed onto the bed. Maybe she would invite Casey over? She needed company, and she missed seeing the real Casey. She had already had just about enough of Eden. She picked up her phone and called Casey. There was no answer, so Ezzie decided she'd leave a message.
"Hey Casey, it's Ezzie. Me and the Jacobs are staying at the Megaron suite in the Capri Palace Hotel and Spa. You can probably get there by floo. Come as whoever. The Jacobs will welcome both. Although I personally, am starting to miss my best friend Casey. Call me back! Later!" Ezzie hung up the phone and smiled. Today was the best day of her life.

Casey laughed following Ezzie out to the paparazzi. “Wow, you really are getting used to this fast.” She laughed making her way out to the red carpet. This was an all too familiar place to Eden. She looked over to Ezzie for a moment, before flashes blinded her. Ezzie was a natural at this she really was. Eden tried not to get too far from Ezzie, but cameras got in her way and crowded all around her. On the inside, Casey was rolling her eyes, but Eden was putting on a show. She had to. Stars didn’t throw fourteen year old fits on the red carpet. She wasn’t going to yell. ‘Leave me alone so I can be near my friend!’ Nope. Casey could do that, but Eden certainly couldn’t. Eden was a star. Since Eden had become famous, she had received no negative publicity or none that she knew of. Casey found very hard to keep the paparazzi out of her life which was why she made up Eden in the first place. Casey had to be strong as Eden. She had to be a different person, mainly because she was. Eden smiled brightly as a microphone was handed to her. She could barely make out her dad standing not too far away. He gave her the thumbs as to say that he was close by. With another glance, she could see Eden’s bodyguard, Roxy standing not too far away. Roxy wouldn’t let anything happen to her. She never would.
“Amazing, Eden. That song is incredible. When can we hear it again?” A reporter asked. Eden smiled. “Well, that was a last minute thing really. That will be the first song recorded on my new album. It will be recorded here in Capri, but the rest of the album will be recorded in England in December.” She stated the information that the public already knew so it wasn’t new to them. The reported nodded and smiled. “So, what do you think about Ezzie?” She eyed her. Eden smiled. “She’s great. Really, talented and I think you will see a lot more of her in the future.” The reporter laughed as others crowded around them. “So, who are you seeing now a days?” She asked the question that was always asked. “Well, normally I would say that, that is private. But, I have no problem with saying that I’m happily single.” She smiled. The reported looked to the camera. “Here that boys? Eden is available!” She laughed. Eden smiled. Bradley walked over. “C’mon Eddie. You have a big day tomorrow.” He said ushering her to the limo as reporters followed excitedly. Casey collapsed on her bed in her huge violet colored bedroom in the suite. It had been a long day. “Casey!” Bradley called. “What?” She called tiredly. “I’ve got steak bud!” Casey shrieked. “So starving!” She called running into the main kitchen area that the suite had. Casey munched on her steak happily before returning to her room. Her dad had removed the charms on her wig, so she took it off cheerfully as it was starting to bug her. She had been Eden for too long that day. She sighed. Being Eden was a full-time job it seemed. She then walked over to her bed and checked her phone. Casey smiled listening to the message that Ezzie had sent. She then ran in to talk to her dad. About fifteen minutes later, Casey arrived in the suite by floo. She smiled over to Ezzie. Casey was wearing bright colored clothes, but her normal brunette. She held a container full of nail-polish and things of that sort. Casey took a few steps into the room. “One best-friend here and I bring brightly colored distractions.” She said giggling.

Ezzie thought back to that night. It seemed like forever and a day ago. Had it really been just a few hours before? Had it really been just mere hours since Mrs. Jacobs had walked into this room and revealed to her the dress she had recently designed for her? It could not have been today or even this year that Ezzie had woken up with jitters, wondering what her first performance was to be like. All that seemed light-years away from her first performance, Casey's secret, and the paparazzi. She sighed as she remembered the moment Casey's cell phone rang from Eden's handbag. It didn't make sense, and yet it made perfect sense. Ezzie shrugged as she heard someone walking about the suite just outside her room. She walked out and was delighted to see Ethan, his blazer and dress shirt still on from that night. Ezzie noticed she was still wearing her formal dress as well. She shrugged as she went to hug Ethan. "I'm so glad to see you again! I feel like we haven't had any alone time in ages." Ethan kissed her softly and Ezzie tried to savor the warm feeling as he pulled away to speak to her. "Yea, I had to stay late to talk business with some producer. He wanted to do a reality show." Ezzie laughed. "I declined. I've already got enough cameras rubbed in my face." Ezzie smiled as he hugged her tight. She felt so warm, so safe. She loved how Ethan had always made her feel safe and protected. She loved him so much, it was amazing she lived even one second without knowing he was there. They had always had problems with getting together. He was always out with his friends, Ezzie was always out recording, it was just so crazy sometimes. She was glad for moments like this though...when there was no one there but him and her...for the moment anyway. There were always times when they thought they had time to themselves, and someone or something popped up to send them both on their way...in opposite directions from each other. Ezzie leaned in to kiss him, when suddenly, the fireplace burst into bright green flames. Casey was here. Ezzie pulled away suddenly, meanwhile, Ethan looked slightly disappointed, but yet happy to see Casey.
"Casey!" She gasped. "I haven't seen you in forever!" Ezzie smiled as Casey held up a bag of nail polish and other beauty supplies. "Casey, just give me a sec." She turned to Ethan.
"I know we barely have time to ourselves anymore, but do you think maybe me and Casey could have this one night? I haven't seen her in forever. Can you promise you won't go anywhere tomorrow? Tonight has to be girl's night. Please?" Ezzie smiled as Ethan's disappointed face turned into a smile as well.
"Alright, but only because she didn't see your amazing performance tonight." He smiled at Casey as he grabbed his coat. Another party. How surprising. "You should have seen Ez tonight Casey. She was hot...in more ways than one." He smiled mischievously as he walked over to the fireplace. "I'm going to a friend's party. Be back late. Love you Ez!" Ezzie smiled. "I love you too, Ethan!" She said confidently, though she doubted he heard her, as he had already vanished into the green flames.
"Alright Casey, I need to do your nails. Do you even remember the last time we did this?" In truth, she couldn't remember the last time Casey slept over. "Just give me a minute, I need to change. This dress maybe beautiful, but sleeping in it should be punishable by law. It's too pretty to be ruined." She gave Casey a wide grin as she walked into her suite, not sure if Casey was following. She picked out a white tank top and baby blue shorts. She entered her master bathroom and changed quickly. It was a skill she had learned over the years. Even now, Ezzie couldn't waste time getting dressed in the morning when she had such a busy day ahead of her. She emerged from the bathroom and smiled at Casey. Have a seat on the bed. I'm thinking movies until dawn and we go heavy on the ice cream and nail polish." Ezzie smiled as she walked to the phone. "Give us every sweet thing in the kitchens, please. To the Megaron suite. Just one request, can you make sure those are sugar free treats? Than you!" She hung up the phone and returned to the bed.
"So Casey, what do you want to watch first? Even if pay per view fails us, the Jacobs have the biggest DVD collection you've ever seen." She plopped herself down on the bed and waited for Casey to answer. Ezzie did notice she'd been talking a lot since Casey had arrived at the suite.

“Woa, hello.” Casey joked at seeing Ezzie and Ethan about to kiss. Casey was just joking as she really didn’t care. Nope, Eden had been in the spotlight far too long. Things like that didn’t faze her anymore. She smiled awkwardly glancing at Ethan. “I can go if you want..” She started to say before Ezzie said to give her a second and then turned to Ethan. Casey smiled and waited for a minute. She would understand if Ezzie would rather hang out with Ethan. After all, it had been a pretty life-changing life for Ezzie. Casey laughed thinking back to what Ezzie had just said. “Forever? But, oh yea.” Casey said realizing that Ethan was in the room and he didn’t know. She almost forgot. Casey smiled a tad to Ethan, hoping that he hadn’t picked up on anything. still holding the bag of nail-polish and other things in her hand, waiting for Ezzie to finish talking to Eden. Casey heard Ethan saying something about that Casey hadn’t gotten to see Ezzie’s performance. She giggled lightly. This would take some getting used to, that was for sure.
Casey nodded to what Ethan said. “I heard that she was absolutely incredible.” She said trying to remain normal. Usually, Casey was good at lying, but it was hard now that she was lying to one person, but the other knew the truth. It was just weird. “Party?” Casey guessed without Ezzie even having to say a word. “Bye Ethan.” Casey called as Ethan vanished through the fireplace. “Boys.” Casey said smiling and rolling her eyes. “I almost forgot Ethan didn’t know. Casey said looking around the room for anyone else. “Where are the Jacobs?” She asked casually just curious. Casey smiled glad that it was just the two of them without any drama. Casey sure was tired of that, but it had been her fault that she hadn’t told Ezzie in the first place. Of course, that as over with. Or at least Casey hoped it was. She was tired of feeling guilty. She just wanted to have some fun.
Casey smiled. “Not really, but I’m sure you did a fabulous job.” She grinned. Casey couldn’t recall Ezzie doing her nails or at least not recently. Now a days, Eden had someone to do that for her, or of course by magic. Casey nodded as Ezzie said that she was going to change. Casey had been relieved to get out of that wig, herself. Bradley had put comfort charms on it, but it was still weird to see that thing on her head instead of her natural, curly locks. Casey sat on the bed as Ezzie said. ‘man you change fast.” She noticed. Casey was a slow changer, always had been. Casey nodded. “I agree. Heavier on the ice-scream though.” She joked. Casey watched Ezzie make the call to the lobby. “Don’t you love that you can do that?” She asked as Ezzie hung up, Being famous sometimes had its perks, that was for sure.
“Hmm, movie, movie..” Casey said pondering out loud. An idea popped in her head. “I’m a Pirates of the Caribbean fan myself. Ever watched them?” She asked about the movies that were very popular in America. Eden had attended a premier there for the last two. Casey looked to Ezzie after a second. “So, how’s this life treatin’ you. It’s a bit different, huh?” She asked curious to what her friend had to say. “I know sometimes I hate it, but you know, that comes and goes.” She said nodding, mainly to herself. Casey was glad that she had Eden to fall back on. S he didn’t have to be famous all of the time. She liked this. She could live the two lives she wanted to. This deal worked perfectly for her. “You know, I wonder how many nights like this we missed because I lied to you and told you I was sick or that I was grounded. I still feel bad for lying to you for over a year.” Casey told her friend truthfully. She needed to say these things to make her feel better. She just did.

As Ezzie explained to Ethan, there were many instances when both Casey and Ezzie had to lie to him. She hated doing it, but she had to keep Casey’s secret. She wouldn’t let her friend down and let her worst fears come alive. She had made a promise, and Ezzie was willing to keep that promise. Somehow though, it looked like Ezzie was doing a better job at keeping Casey’s secret than Casey herself was. She merely shrugged as Ethan left through the fireplace. He hadn’t even said goodbye. She sighed and turned back to Casey with a smile. At least she had someone here. If it wasn’t for Casey, Ezzie would be alone a lot more than she normally was. She had no idea what Ethan did at those parties, nor did she know how long he stayed there. She didn’t understand why he had gone there so much, and why he couldn’t just spend one night alone for once. She was glad that he had left though. Tonight was Ezzie’s girl’s night. Ezzie and Casey had gone through so much in one night, they needed to celebrate the fact they had survived it all and still managed to keep their friendship intact. In fact, their friendship was far more than just intact, it was much stronger than before. It was like god had laid a fresh coat of super glue to their friendship, and it felt great to have someone like Casey around. It really made her forget about all the uneasiness she felt when it came to Ethan’s obsessive party habits. She shrugged as Casey asked her where Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs were. “Well, Mr. Jacobs is at the manor, he couldn’t come all the way out to Capri for more than just the premiere. His main bookstore needs him. I mean what seven story building full of stories wouldn’t need the help of the great writer and business tycoon, Alex Jacobs?” She laughed a bit as she hopped on the bed, now fully dressed in her pajamas.
“Amanda is probably at some pop star’s house talking designs for their next consert or red carpet event or something. They’re barely ever home, and neither is Ethan. I tend to be home alone a lot.” She smiled as Casey suggested the popular American movie; Pirates of the Caribbean. Ezzie had heard Ethan speak of it many times, but had never really gotten the chance to see it. “I’ve been dying to see that movie forever. And I’ve got to say, being able to get whatever you want with a telephone call is pretty cool. I just can’t help but feel guilty about making them work so hard. I used to work in a hotel like this. Whenever I walked into the room and the place was a mess, I would wonder why I even worked there. Then I remembered it was the only way to put food in my stomach…once a day at least.” She picked up the remote and scrolled through the movies on the screen.
“My boss was so mean. He used to make me practically run the hotel for hours, just because he knew I needed the money. Mr. Foss never even allowed me break. I did everything from maid service, to cook, to beautician at the hotel salon, and I even took the calls to room service. I think I was even a lifeguard once.” She sighed. Mr. Foss was pretty cruel to Ezzie, but he probably regretted it now. Ezzie was sure that if he had treated her fairly while she was poor, he would have been thanked graciously. She found the movie she was looking for and ordered it just as she heard someone knock on the suite door. The food had arrived just in time. “That must be our food!” Ezzie said her voice much more cheerful than before. She ran up to the door and opened it. She smiled at the rather handsome man carrying a cart filled with sweets and treats. She thanked the man and payed for the food (dropping an additional huge tip for the man. She knew how tough working in a hotel would be, and Ezzie desperately didn’t want to be like those snooty rich people who dropped smaller tips than the middle class guests.) She carted it back into the room and started the movie. The previews were on, which gave Ezzie a chance to talk a bit more before it started. Casey asked her about her life these days, and Ezzie thought for a moment before she answered. “Well, it’s different, that’s for sure. It’s a lot nicer than life back at the hotel and in the shelter. The only thing that’s stayed the same is how hard I work. I’m just counting my blessings though. I’m really glad I’m not cleaning toilets anymore. And this time, my hard work actually pays off, in more ways than just money. Being famous does come with its perks; Even though it can get annoying sometimes. I’m actually kinda sorry I didn’t come up with a secret like Eden’s though. It would have made life so much easier media wise. That way, the pressure would only be on half of me.” Ezzie removed a cupcake from the cart. “Mmm, I love chocolate. And to think, I’ve been missing out on such an amazing flavor all this time?” Ezzie took a bite. It would probably take a month to work off all this chocolate, but Ezzie would deal. She was very athletic. The fat would surely burn off quickly. She settled herself down as the movie began.

Casey smiled as Ezzie talked about Mr. Jacobs and the family. Casey couldn’t image her dad being that busy. Bradley Allen was a busy man, but not too busy. He worked with Eden’s label, worked as her manager, and wrote most of her songs. Plus, Bradley kept Casey emotional stable with everything she had going on in her life. Bradley Allen was a busy guy, but he always had time for Casey. Casey was glad that she could spent time with her dad as his daughter and not Eden. After all, Eden Sweden demanded a lot of attention. Casey had a busy schedule, but she always had time to spare with her dad and Joel. Sometimes it felt like they were all she had. Casey couldn’t loose them. “Hey, I love my dad, but he works a bit too much with Eden Sweden. He practically keeps every cute boy, 100 feet away from Eden.” Casey laughed. Sometimes her dad could be a bit annoying, but he had always been like that. He had been over-protective since Heaven left. It was understandable though. Casey sighed a bit as she got a comfortable spot on the bed. Sometimes, her life was a bit much, but she always had family time. It was practically an Allen Family rule.
“Alone isn’t so bad sometimes, though. Well, at least not for me, or Eden. We’re both constantly around people. A break is good every now and then.” She said nodding. Sometimes, Casey just wanted to latch on to someone. Other times, she wanted to be alone. That was just the way she was. Casey nodded as Ezzie spoke of the movie. “Eden went to the premieres for the first two.” She smiled. “By the way, premieres are so much fun.” She said grinning. Casey was glad that Ezzie would be around her more. After all, they were bound to go to a few of the same events from time to time. Casey was glad that Ezzie could be around her at events like that. Eden had famous friends, but none like Ezzie. None of them new Eden’s secret. Casey felt a bit sad listening to Ezzie. Ezzie had told her some of this before, but it was sad to hear it again. “At least you’re here now, you know?” She said trying to be a bit supportive and yet always showing her personality. Casey rarely gave normal responses.
Casey listened to Ezzie talk about her old job. It nearly made Casey sick just hearing about it. But, all that stuff was in the past. Ezzie was famous now. She would never have to go back to that life. Casey would make sure that she would never have to. Casey smiled as someone knocked on the door. “Yea for food.” She joked smiling as Ezzie went to the door. The movie came on and Casey watched a few previews as Ezzie brought the food. Casey smiled taking a candy bar and opening the wrapper. Casey nodded listening to Ezzie. “The secret helps, but I’m still busy. I don’t get much Casey time. It will get harder for you, as sad as that is. Being famous has its perks, but it isn’t always fun.” She said taking a bit of the chocolate. “The clothes are awesome though.” She laughed truthfully. Designers basically begged Eden to wear their clothes and Eden rarely let them down. Casey smiled a bit. “How did you even live without it?” She laughed referring to the choclate. Casey didn’t even think how many people did. She sighed watching the move begin on the screen. She had seen it before, but it never got worse.

Ezzie snuggled under the blankets. It was getting rather late. She listened to what Casey had to say. She loved Casey’s family, almost as much as she loved the Jacobs. They had always stuck together, no matter what. She wasn’t sure what happened to her mother, but they were definitely making their way over the bruises left behind. Casey and her family were happy people. Always laughing, and of course; making others laugh as well. She loved how they always had enough time for family. They were so unlike Ethan and the Jacobs, who sometimes cared more about their careers and social lives than they did with their family. She didn’t like it at all sometimes, but it was how life was. The Jacobs were kind people and had treated Ezzie with as much kindness, care and respect as they could give. They had given Ezzie a home, good food, and even an amazing career. The very last thing Ezzie wanted to do was complain and insult their way of living. She just went on living with the life god had given her. She watched the movie intently, taking in the scene of the large old pirate ship. She glanced at the clock. It was already two thirty in the morning! Ezzie couldn’t believe she was up so late. She ignored the clock and looked back at the screen. She yawned. She was getting a bit tired…but she really wanted to watch this movie. It wasn’t boring at all; it was just that Ezzie was exhausted from all that had happened all day. She grabbed a cookie and took a bite. She made herself comfortable on the bed and before she knew it, she felt her eyelids close slowly. Eventually, she fell asleep, unknowingly letting the cookie drop to the ground. She wasn’t sure if Casey had fallen asleep yet, but Ezzie was too deep in sleep to find out.
About an hour later, Ezzie awoke to find herself laying in a field of flowers, completely alone. The ground was hard and itchy, and didn’t feel good against her body. She picked up one of the yellow flowers and breathed in the sweet smell. She stood up and brushed the dirt off a white springtime dress she had found herself wearing. She noticed a large group of people not far away from her. They were all cheering for the one in the middle, the one Ezzie had now recognized as Ethan. She smiled widely. She started to walk toward the group of friends, who seemed to be having a party. There were scattered cups littered around the ground and everyone was dancing to music that seemed to be coming out of nowhere. As she walked closer, the stench of beer could be easily noticed. She started to walk to the group, swaying her hips along with the music. All of a sudden, a large crowd of people stepped in front of her, blocking her way to the party. There were some fans, screaming Ezzie’s name and asking for autographs. Some were interviewers, who brandished microphones and cameras in front of her face and asked her random questions. She tried to push them out of the way, but the farthest she got in succeeding was a clear view of the party from where she was standing. Ethan was not alone in the center. He was dancing with a girl; a girl who was dancing just a bit too close to him. The music suddenly stopped, but the fans continued on screaming. Ethan smiled and the girl did too. Before she knew it, Ethan and the girl were kissing passionately and the crowd around were cheering. Ezzie screamed Ethan’s name, and just then a large pool of water emerged from under her feet and a moment later, Ezzie was back in that same lake that she was almost drowned in. She couldn’t move, but she could scream. She screamed as loud as she could, and later noticed she was back in her own bed screaming. She rose from her bed and into the kitchen area. She wasn’t sure if she had woken Casey, but she hoped she hadn’t. She poured herself a glass of water as she looked at the clock on the wall. Six thirty am was what it read. She took a sip of water as she glanced at the fireplace. She stared at it with her eyes wide. She practically choked on her water. The fireplace had burst into green flames, and Ethan had emerged from it, looking happy, but extremely tired.
“Ethan!” Ezzie exclaimed. “Do you realize what time it is?” She said, placing her water down on the counter. He just stood there looking guilty. “WHERE WERE YOU ALL THIS TIME?” Ezzie said, her voice rising.
“I told you I was going out…” Ethan stammered. “NOT UNTIL SIX THIRTY IN THE MORNING! ARE YOU CRAZY, OR ARE YOU JUST STUPID? OR MAYBE IT’S NOT YOU THAT’S STUPID-IT’S ME! HOW COULD I NOT SEE?” Ezzie said bitterly. She couldn’t help but remember back to her dream, she was basically screaming now, and had completely forgotten Casey was asleep in her room. “YOU’VE BEEN SEEING SOMEONE ELSE ON THE SIDE, HAVEN’T YOU? I’M NOT STUPID ETHAN! TELL ME THE TRUTH! I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU HAVE TO BE OUT SO LATE, IF IT’S NOT FOR SOMEONE ELSE!” Ethan’s nervous look turned into one of anger.
“I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU WOULD THINK SUCH A THING! I TOLD YOU I WAS GOING TO A PARTY, AND THAT I’D BE BACK LATE! YOU’RE LUCKY I EVEN TOLD YOU ANYTHING! ANY SENSIBLE MAN WOULD HAVE JUST LEFT! IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS WHERE I GO!” He yelled back.
“NONE OF MY BUSINESS? ETHAN, I DON’T THINK YOU REALIZE, BUT I’M YOUR GIRLFRIEND!” She spat.
“That’s what you think!” He spat back and Ezzie felt tears streak down her cheeks. “WHAT?” She said, hoping she had heard him wrong. “You heard me.” He said bitterly. She gave Ethan a dirty look and stalked off into her suite without another word, leaving Ethan at his place by the fireplace. She slammed the door behind her and slid down onto the floor to cry. She looked up and remembered Casey was still there. Surely she had woken up through all the noise.

Casey yawned, too tired to continue the conversation. It had been a long day that was for sure. Casey had never had so many things to do in just one day. At least it was over. Casey sighed closing her eyes a bit, but looking to the movie every now and then. Ezzie seemed to be just as tired so at least Casey wasn’t alone in the exhaustion. It had been a big day for them both. Ezzie had mastered her first performance and Casey her first finale. Above all, Ezzie finally knew the truth. Finally, the lies were over. Casey had never felt better than she did. The fact that she didn’t have to lie to her best-friend anymore made her wants to write a new song about it or at least ask her dad to. Casey wrote pretty good songs, but Bradley’s were always so much better. He had written some of Eden’s big hits like “The Best of Both Worlds” and “This is life.” Casey wrote “Just Like You” which was her favorite Eden song. Casey closed her eyes again, thinking of new lyrics in her head. She often went to sleep this way, thinking of new songs. Strange yes, but in the morning, she always had a new song idea.
Casey’s eyes flashed open when she heard screaming. She didn’t move though. She had just been dreaming about Joel doing something stupid, which was often. Casey realized it was Ezzie who had been screaming, but she still didn’t move a muscle. She tried to get herself back to sleep as Ezzie left the room, but she just couldn’t do it. Casey sighed opening her eyes, but staying in place. At least it was a new day. The previous one had been filled with drama and craziness. Casey yawned a bit still feeling tired. After all, she hadn’t been asleep that long. It wasn’t long before Casey heard a voice in another room. No, it was two voices. Ethan must have come back. Casey finally got out of the bed without glancing at the clock. She figured since Ezzie and Ethan were both up, they could all have some breakfast.
Casey was just about to step out of the hall when she heard the screaming. She didn’t move. She stayed there attached to the wall. Casey listened intently even though she knew it was wrong to spy. It didn’t matter if she had been in a different room; she would still be able to hear the screaming. Apparently, Ethan had just gotten in. Casey guessed that it was early and after glancing at a clock, she was sure of it. Was that boy crazy? Why would anyone with a girlfriend stay out that late? Casey continued to listen. Ezzie though that Ethan was cheating. Casey instantly sided with her friend on this even though she didn’t have any proof. Casey didn’t care if Ezzie was right or wrong. She would always back up her friend. Ezzie had been so understand to Casey. Casey was going to be the same way to her friend.
Casey’s jaw dropped at Ethan’s last words. Had they..? Seriously? No. Ezzie and Ethan couldn’t break up! It was then that Ezzie rushed back to her suite. She didn’t notice Casey by the door. Casey followed her back into the room and opened the door that had just been slammed. She was careful not to hurt Ezzie who was on the floor near the door. Casey sat down beside her crying friend. “Ezz…I’m sorry.” She said giving her a hug. Casey didn’t know what else to say. She wasn’t going to say that it was for the best because she wasn’t sure if it was. Yes, Ethan was a big flirt, but Casey had always though that Ethan and Ezzie were good together. Casey sighed and looked to Ezzie. “Look. Let’s go to my place. My house in Whales not the apartment in London. You know what it’s like in Newport and we both need a break. C’mon Ezzie. You need to get out of here right now.” She said standing up and eyeing Ezzie as she began to pack some of her own things up.
