Melody's bat didn't make very good contact with the Bludger, and with the strength that Stewart had put into the hit, it pushed on past the glancing blow. It was a good job that she'd alerted Lenora to the presence of the Bludger, then - thankfully then the experienced Chaser still managed to dodge the Bludger, although it couldn't have been particularly easy. "Sorry!" Melody shouted to Lenora, and then, because Cassandra was already redirecting the Bludger that Melody had missed, she flew off to one that the Head Boy had sent at Rex, who of course, being a strategic target, had been a favourite of the Ravenclaw Beaters today. Melody's concentration, and more importantly, her determination, had been fired up by missing that last Bludger, and she approached this one intent upon doing some damage to the Ravenclaw morale which had of course picked up again after Celia's goal.
"Thoo might want to watch out, Rex!" she shouted to the Seeker under threat as she tried simultaneously to defend him and launch a counter-attack on the opposition's Captain.

Jamison sped up on his broom as a bludger approached Jasmine. Jeez it seemed like everyone bludger was heading her way. Well, Jamison would still do his best to defend his team mates. Jamison thought of the score. He wondered how much longer it would take the Seekers to find the snitch. Sometimes they found it quickly, other times it took hours. Jamison saw the Gryffindor Seeker out of the corner of his eye. Still no snitch. There was no telling when it would be spotted but Jamison hoped that it would be sooner rather than later.

Dum dum dum... The Golden Snitch was no where to be found. This was a lot tougher than Rex had thought it to be. Who would have guessed that a shining golden flying ball would be almost impossible to spot with a bunch of kids flying around on brooms? Certainly not Rex. When he had watched the Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff game, Scott had made this seem so easy. Although in that game, the Hufflepuff Chasers had really been on their game and it was a great surprise when Gryffindor won. It would be a great surprise if Ravenclaw won this game. None of the Ravenclaw players seemed to be with it today as Elaine missed a pass from Casey to Lenora. Well, Rex will save them from further humiliation.

Though neither he nor Jamison had defended Elaine she'd thankfully managed to dodge the Bludger though unfortunately not make a successful pass. Stewart flew towards the Bludger, which was flying as forcefully as ever, and hit it as hard as he could towards Zara.

Melody was happy when she made solid contact with the Bludger this time and she easily diverted it from the path that Jamison had set it on. She watched for a few moments to ensure that it was heading in Jasmine's direction, and then left that one for a Ravenclaw Beater to try to defend their Captain. She saw that while she'd been checking that her Bludger was doing what she wanted it to, Stewart had used the opportunity to launch another attack on Zara. He seemed to like to choose a target to focus on for quite a prolonged period of time, she thought as she glanced in his direction - before it had been Rex, and now it was Zara. But she wasn't going to focus on someone else doing the same job as her. So far none of the Beaters had started targeting each other - it had been quite civilised really, unlike the last game when the Hufflepuff Beaters had frequently tried to knock Branden off his top form. Melody didn't really see what benefit attacking one of the opposing Beaters would do in this game. She'd been trying to race them to the Bludgers for most of this match, so sending one to them as a gift would be of no use.
Her next target already chosen, Melody urged her Cleansweep onwards to intercept the Bludger that Stewart had just sent at Zara. It wasn't the most aerodynamic broom around, but it was sturdy and didn't fall apart with the jolts that the brooms of Beaters frequently suffered as their owners countered the speed of Bludgers. She decided to alert Zara to the Bludger coming her way, since she certainly wasn't about to underestimate Stewart's ability, and Melody could easily misjudge the speed of the iron ball that she was trying to deflect. "Bludger, ZARA!" Melody shouted to Sapphire's red-haired twin as she herself manouevered just a little frenetically to get in the best position to send the Bludger towards August.

"Yes!" Theo cheered loudly along with the rest of the chanting Ravenclaw crowd, waving their glittering blue banners in delight. He dove in the air once to show his delight about Celia's successful goal, and beamed at the older girl as he swerved towards her. "Good job!" He called across the distance, throwing a quick thumbs up before his mind was back on the game. It was forty-ten to Gryffindor; Ravenclaw still had some way to go. Theo focused his gaze on Casey, the fourth year Keeper for the opposing team, as she readied herself to pass the Quaffle. Elaine flew through the crowd of Chasers to attempt an intercept, but the Quaffle slipped through her fingers to land in Lenora's arms successfully. Immediately, Theo wasted no time skimming across the atmosphere towards the seventh year girl, getting ready to attempt to steal from her.

Melody was having a field day with those Bludgers. Hitting another one at Jasmine then dashing off to defend someone else. She was flying circles around the other Beaters. It really was something to see. Anyway, it was far more interesting to watch then searching for an invisible Snitch. Where could the bloody thing be? Rex watched Jasmine to see if she had spotted anything but she seemed to be having as much luck as he was. Sigh.

Melody frowned as the Bludger went on past her. It had been going faster than she had imagined Stewart could have hit it, but perhaps it was just the momentum that it had gained from many combined hits that he'd added to. She hadn't thought that he had super strength, after all. Her hit however, though not enough to stop the Bludger, had been enough to slow it down and Zara was able to dodge it quite easily. Melody grinned at the red-haired Chaser and chased off after the Bludger she'd just failed to defend against, giving it a good whack in Celia's direction, since the blonde-haired Ravenclaw Chaser had just got the Quaffle and she wanted to put him off from passing to Celia - someone who had just proved herself good enough to score goals.

Yes! The Quaffle fell into his arms and he gave a triumphant whoop. His eyes skimmed the field as he searched for one of the girls to pass to. Celia was not so far away, so Theo began to fly towards her direction, in line with approaching the goals too, where Casey floated. "Celia! Heads up!" He yelled as he readied himself to throw the Quaffle, doing indicating gestures with his free hand. However, he could tell the Gryffindor Chasers were closing in on him, and he had to wrap his arm tighter around the Quaffle to ensure he defended it and managed to pass. Theo was actually better at passing than he was at stealing, but today, it seemed his strength was working much better than his dexterity. Narrowing his eyes against the blow of the breeze, he focused his gaze on Celia's figure, and hoped he would pass the Quaffle to her successfully.

Zara gave a sigh of relief as the Bludger narrowly missed the tail of her broom. Stewart was certainly extremely lethal today, as was Melody. It was a close call between the two of them, but eventually, Stewart's attack had gotten the better of the second year girl. Nonetheless, Zara was extremely proud of her teammate. Melody was doing fantastic today, especially for someone her age; to say Zara was impressed was an understatement. Even though Melody's preferred position was Seeker, she was showing great talent for the Beater role, despite her fear of hurting others, which Zara thought was so sweet and kind of her. Melody was a sweet and kind girl, no doubt about that. It was odd to think she was so dangerous on a Quidditch pitch with a bat and a Bludger! "Thanks!" Zara shouted across to her youngest teammate with a beam, before turning away to assess the Quaffle situation. Theo had successfully stolen the red ball from Lenora's hands, but Zara wouldn't let the Ravenclaw team have possession for long; not willingly anyway. She also hated the thought of Ravenclaw catching up to their higher score, and her goal (no pun intended) was to extend their lead. Swooping forward, Zara flew at Theo with steely determination to steal the Quaffle and enact revenge for Lenora.

Stewart frowned in frustration as yet another of his Bludgers did not hit the intended target. So far August, Theo, Celia and Jasmine had all been hit by Bludgers and the Gryffindors had managed to sustain no injuries. It was hard to keep going but he had to, even though with Jasmine in such bad shape their prospects were not looking very good. He flew to defend Celia from the Bludger that was heading for her and tried to deflect it towards Zara once again.

Yay, Theo stole the quaffle! Although Elaine had previously failed to intercept the pass from Casey to Lenora, Theo had swiftly taken the quaffle out of Lenora's grasp. He called over to Celia, just before he let go of the quaffle, tossing it in her direction. She flew quickly closer to the ball, hoping to catch, then she could try and score again. That would be great-they needed the points! She hoped Jazz would be able to get the snitch soon, to clinch the win for Ravenclaw.
Meanwhile, Melody, who'd really been on top form that game, was hitting a bludger at Celia. Well, made a change from hitting Jazz, who'd been hit a lot of times over the course of the game. That wasn't good at all, seeing as she was both the captain and the seeker, and hence one of the most important players in the game. Celia watched the bludger carefully, while keeping an eye on the quaffle heading towards her. Luckily Stewart was trying to defend her, but she couldn't afford to be hit if he didn't manage to hit the bludger away.

Gryffindor's lead was slipping, and that put their captain in a foul mood. Cass zoomed around the pitch once and saw the Ravenclaw chaser drop the quaffle. She gasped and screamed, Lenora! Zara! It's loose!" She pointed her finger to the red ball that was now descending towards the ground. Cass dived in the foray and could already see in her mind all of the Ravenclaw diving for the quaffle. The wouldn't get it on her watch. She would keep their chasers away with everyone she had.

Scott found himself getting a bit distracted as the game seemed to move up a notch in activity. Suddenly there were two more goals scored, one by each team, and Scott was dipping and dodging the swarm of other players as well as the random Bludger that went by. Luckily, none of the Bludgers had come his way... yet.
With Ravenclaw having possession of the Quaffle, he started to tail Celia, only to watch her get smashed with a Bludger and then drop the Quaffle. He flew pas her and realized that nobody else seemed to be going for it right away. He pushed the nose of his broom handle downward and started into a dive. With his arm stretched out, he attempted to sweep the free-floating red ball from the air so that he might be able to get Gryffindor back into their state of momentum they had been in earlier.

How exciting! The Quaffle was being tossed around by all the Chasers and suddenly it was loose. Rex really wanted to watch the Chasers dive for it, but he knew that he should be watching for other things. Mainly, the Snitch. Rex scanned the horizon, hoping beyond hope that he would see something golden in the sun. But alas, there was nothing. Then Rex decided to scan the bottom of the pitch. Maybe the Snitch got tired and was having a little sit down. It was worth a look anyway.

Melody felt quite sorry for Celia as she saw the Bludger hit her and the Ravenclaw Chaser subsequently drop the Quaffle. It was a setback for the Ravenclaw team, but that was what Beaters were there to create, even though it must be disappointing for Celia. Cassandra seemed to be quite excited by the outcome of Melody's Bludger attack though, and Melody saw that her Captain was determined to continue the chaos that the Beaters were causing for the Chasers. Melody, though, wasn't sure what was most important for her to do. She didn't want to allow Jasmine to be able to find the Snitch before Rex and she knew that it would be good tactics for her to continue to hinder the older girl, but on the other hand she thought she had already sent quite enough Bludgers at the poor Ravenclaw. She could attack one of the Ravenclaw Chasers as well, of course, but she didn't feel that they were the biggest threat against Gryffindor winning the game. She didn't really want to launch any more attacks right now, but she didn't want to give Jamison or Stewart a chance to attack a Gryffindor player with the free Bludger, so she would have to. Melody shrugged slightly as she flew up to the other Bludger and, following her Captain's lead of attacking Ravenclaw Chasers, lobbed it in the direction of the blonde-haired Chaser.

Celia smiled as Theo managed to keep the quaffle from Zara's attempt to steal, and attempted to pass to her. She grabbed the quaffle as it fell into her hands-she had possession again! However, just as she thought she was safe the bludger that she'd had one eye on hit her sharply in the side, winding her immediately. She couldn't help but lose her concentration and unfortunately she let go of the quaffle, so it was now loose. Trying to put the pain of the bludger hit to the back of her mind, she quickly dived, trying to get the quaffle back despite Scott also taking the oppurtunity to try and steal it back...but she couldn't afford for him to get it.
However, she noticed that the bludger was heading back towards her, this time hit by Cass. Melody, Gryff's other beater, was hitting the other bludger towards her fellow chaser Theo. "BLUDGEERRRRR" She called towards the younger boy, hoping he'd then notice it and then dodge it. He'd been a valuable team member this game, no doubt, and Celia really didn't want him to be hit-her fellow chasers and herself needed to concentrate as hard as possible.
