Bruising Bludgers and another ten points for Ravenclaw. This game was turning from bad to worse. What happened to the momentum that Gryffindor had started with? Perhaps they just needed a bit more endurance training. Surely though they weren't just being outplayed by Ravenclaw now were they? It had been the opposite just an hour or so ago. Scott saw the frustration on his teammates' face thought, and he was determined to change that.
Whipping in and out of the rest of the players, Scott zoomed forward, still watching for any glimpse of gold that he might find. Adriahna, the new Ravenclaw Seeker was off in her own little corner of the pitch, but Scott tried to ignore her and just focus on locating the flying ball.

Melody made comfortable contact with the Bludger and saved her Captain from getting hit - allowing that again would have been a great travesty on the skills and dedication of the Gryffindor Beater team. Cassandra didn't seem to have made much use of the chance she'd had to pass the Quaffle without hindrance, though. Melody shrugged slightly to herself. She wasn't the one in charge of the team and she wasn't a Chaser; it wasn't anything to do with her. Stewart had taken advantage of Melody's being occupied with defending her Captain to launch another Bludger attack. Melody had to trace its path for a couple of seconds before she could work out who it was heading for, and her heart sank slightly as she realised that Lenora was under attack again. Melody didn't have a very good track record as far as her previous defences of the seventh year Prefect went... she hoped to keep her concentration properly this time as she had been able to do when defending Cassandra. She was a bit fed up of interfering with the Quaffle-play, so she tried to hit this Bludger in the same direction as the last one she'd defended against.

Cass held the little red quaffle in her hands and felt its weight for the moment. Who to throw to? Who to throw to? It seemed it took Cassandra a fortnight to make her decision in her mind, but in reality it was only a few seconds if that. Cass saw her chaser, Lenora, out of the corner of her eye, and heaved the ball towards her.

Theo was glad that Ravenclaw was steadily catching up to Gryffindor's early lead. Now thirty to forty nil, they were only ten points from equalising. Determined to aid in that effort, Theo flew forward when Cassandra succeeded in passing the Quaffle to Lenora. Celia had been so close, again, to intercepting, but it wasn't to be. Today was certainly Gryffindor's day, but Theo was sure he and his teammates were not going to go down without a fight. Darting across strong winds towards the seventh year girl, Theo reached out his arms to try to grab the Quaffle from her grasp. Most likely she was going to try to pass to fellow seventh year, Zara, but Theo was going to try and stop her. Hopefully Celia would try to intercept again, and they would have the Quaffle in their possession once more.
Theo was a little disappointed that Scott had been subbed into the Seeker position; now they couldn't meet each other head on in battle. Still, there came relief with the fact Theo didn't have to worry about harming his good friend. On the other hand - Scott was a good Seeker. Theo hoped Adriahna would find the golden ball before him.

Things seemed to be going a little better for Gryffindor again. Melody had got her rhythm back; now Adriahna had just been hit by a Bludger and another one was heading her way. Moreover, Lenora now had possession of the Quaffle. Melody wanted to help her team to gain the momentum back, so she hit the free Bludger at the Ravenclaw who seemed to be posing the greatest threat to that at the moment - the blonde-haired Chaser who had scored just before.

Ravenclaw scored? This game wasn't staying on Gryffindor's side anymore it would seem... Had to do something about that then... Lenora shook her arm which still stinged from the bludger and concentrated on Cassandra who had the quaffle. The red ball went flying at Celia tried to get it, Lenora caught it first thankfully and was off. Theo was flying in her wake trying to get the quaffle but Lenora held tight, her arm stinging more than ever from the effort. As she caught sight of another flash of red Lenora tried to pass...

Zara watched carefully as the Quaffle passed from Cass to Lenora. Celia had been close to intercepting, but thankfully, their Captain's strong pass and Lenora's fast movement had beaten her to it. Knowing she was now needed, since Lenora was flying down the pitch towards her, Zara moved across to avoid the opposing Chasers to block or hinder her movements. She was aware of Theo catching up to Lenora to attempt to steal her Quaffle, but before he could get there, a Bludger from Melody hit him and distracted him enough for Lenora to surpass him. "Over here, Lenora!" Zara shouted, waving her arms. Her attention was almost fully centred on receiving the Quaffle for the umpteenth time in the game, but she was also aware she was a big target for Bludgers at this moment in the game. As Lenora approached, she threw the Quaffle at her, and since no other Ravenclaw Chasers were nearby, Zara caught it easily with a grin.
Giving Lenora a nod of thanks, Zara turned to pelt down the last few metres of the pitch to the goal posts with a tight hold over the red ball. Finally, aligning herself quickly before the Keeper and the goal posts, Zara raised the Quaffle and started to shoot it, just aware of the fact Ravenclaw Chasers were narrowing in to steal and intercept. She had to increase their lead, otherwise the Ravens would surpass them.

Just was Theo was about to block Lenora's passage and try to steal the Quaffle, he felt a blow to his broomstick near his legs, knock his balance off, and send him careening across the air, holding onto his broom for dear life. It was a Bludger, and as he looked up, he noted the young face of Melody looking onto him. Man, that kid was lethal today, Theo thought as he nursed his foot. He was thankfully uninjured, but the blow had distracted him and prevented him from doing his role. Lenora was past him and had passed the Quaffle successfully to Zara. Cursing under his breath, Theo composed himself, gripped his broomstick, and surged forward, determined not to let the Bludger attack ruin his mindset. Ravens had to win. Zipping through several players, Theo rounded on Zara just as she was about shoot. He lunged forwards and tried to snatch the red ball out of her fingers.

Melody was pleased, if a little alarmed that she'd just managed to temporarily take out two members of the Ravenclaw team almost simultaneously. It helped her master her tiredness and she thought now that she could persevere until the end of the game, which would surely be soon. She just had to decide who to hit a Bludger at next. It was going to be one of the same two targets... but which one she didn't know. Adriahna, of course, posed the greater threat to Gryffindor's game overall because she could easily win the game for Ravenclaw by catching the Snitch, but on the other hand, it would be really good for Gryffindor's morale if they were able to score again and keep the Quaffle near the Ravenclaw hoops. The blonde-haired Chaser seemed to have bounced back from the last Bludger hit, which Melody was very glad about - apart from the fact that it meant she'd have to attack him again because he was still making himself dangerous. She flew towards the Bludger that she'd hit him with just before and gave it a hard hit in his direction once again.

Stewart couldn't believe it when Melody managed to hit two Bludgers at two of Ravenclaw's team players. She had a lot of stamina and Stewart was beginning to wish the game would be over before the Ravenclaw team ended up with all of its players severely injured. But it wasn't over till it was over. Stewart flew to defend Theo and deflect the Bludger towards Lenora.

Just as she was about to shoot, Theo was in front of her, hovering dangerously close. Zara tried to block him from grabbing the precious ball, but to no avail. She cursed when Theo knocked the Quaffle out of her hands successfully and shot off with it. And she had been so close to the goal too; it would've made it a twenty-point lead. Annoyed that she had missed a valuable chance, Zara flew after Theo quickly. She needed to retrieve that Quaffle and shoot again before he got too far away. Speeding after the opposing Ravenclaw Chaser, Zara caught up to him and swiped at his arms determinedly. "The Quaffle's mine!"

Theo restrained whooping out loud in truimphant victory as his surprisingly steady hands grabbed the Quaffle out of Zara's struggling arms. Without another glance, he quickly hightailed it away from the goals; even if he couldn't retain the ball, he needed to create as much distance as possible between it and the goalposts so Gryffindor couldn't score. Plus, of course, Ravenclaw had to try to score themselves. Eyes narrowing on the goals at the other end of the pitch, Theo wondered if he could get any closer before attempting a shot. He could feel opposing Gryffindors close in on him, and from behind, he could hear the familiar whoosh of a broomstick pursuing him. He guessed it was Zara, and a brief glance backwards confirmed his thoughts. Anxiously, he looked back to the goals to judge the distance, and decided he'd have to take the risk. "Here goes," he thought bravely. He had to keep the Quaffle from Zara's steal first, but after that, he needed to get his shot through one of those goals.

Oh no, she'd been thwarted there! Plus now she had to go and defend Lenora again... perhaps she could start building up a good track record now for defending the seventh year, rather than the two times she'd missed. She hoped she could. Melody yelled a warning to Lenora just in case, and then flew up to intercept Stewart's Bludger and hit it at the Ravenclaw Seeker again. The Gryffindors seemed to be allowing the game to slip away from them, which Melody found hugely frustrating because she'd been putting her all into it - but perhaps she could give Scott enough time to find the Snitch and confirm Gryffindor as the better team.

Lenora was relieved when her pass to Zara succeeded but suddenly Theo had the quaffle in his hands, having stolen it from Zara. This game really had changed direction and Lenora did not like it, not one bit. Lenora glanced up at the sky, hoping to catch sight of Scott catching that elusive snitch at last... but no such luck was to be found and she didn't have time to hang around, waiting for bludgers to catch up with her. If Theo could take the quaffle by force...

Adriahna was starting to think someone had caught the snitch and hidden it in their pocket for a joke or something... why couldn't they find it? Somewhere in her brain she remembered reading in Quidditch Through The Ages that the longest match ever was about 3 months so really with this still being the same day she didn't have too much to complain about but really... where was it? She was just hoping the bloody thing would stop and show itself for a moment... As long as Scott didn't find it of course...
