The bludger flew at its intended target but Mary didn’t bother to see how the kid did at defending himself. The game had begun in earnest and Slytherin was in possession of the quaffle. Good but it meant their chasers were prime targets, a thought confirmed by the fact that there was already a bludger heading in the direction of Wynd. Hoping she could get there on time Mary took off and tried to get herself between the chasers and the fast approaching bludger – the only thought in her mind being strategy – taking out the Ravenclaw players can only make the Slytherin team stronger and keep the Ravenclaw beaters too busy to retaliate.

When Jasmine announced the changes in the line up, August had found it difficult to stop himself from resigning right on the spot. But if he did, Ravenclaw would have had to forfeit the game and that was something that August would never be able to live with on his conscience. But he was not pleased to be put into the Beater position. It was still a little unclear as to why he was switched. After all, he had done fairly well he thought at their practice. But who knows what goes through the mind of a captain? August was sure they were many things that went into Jasmine's decision, but his feelings were still hurt. August was never a very offensive person so the Beater position was possibly the worst position for him. August looked away when Jasmine tried to flash him an apologetic smile during her captain's speech. He didn't want to hear it.
The only advantage to playing a Beater was that the Slytherin Beaters interested him. Not the girl. But the boy. That was the boy that he randomly bumped into the night before Winter Break. Although during a Quidditch match was not the best time to talk at least they would get to see each other and actually learn something about each other. As soon as the game began, the girl Beater hit a Bludger straight at him. What did August do? Nothing. He was just minding his own business. Jamison is the one who attacked their Chaser right off the bat. That's why Jamison was actually a Beater! August tried to force those thoughts out of his head and concentrate on the game but it was hard when you were doing something you didn't want to do. The first step was to defend himself and send the Bludger somewhere else.

Darn it. Slytherin got the quaffle. Oh well. They had barely begun so this didn’t prove a thing. Jamison was confident in his team. They were all talented and always did a great job at Quidditch. Jamison noticed Jasmine searching for the snitch. Maybe she would find it shortly and this would be a quick match. Jamison had found out over the years that there are only two types of matches: the extremely long and the very short. There never seemed to be a match in between, but maybe that was just Jamison. Jamison didn’t mind the long matches, but they always seemed to go on for days even if it was just hours. It was really hard to tell how long the match had lasted when you are flying your fastest and paying attention to the game and nothing more. Jamison flew over closer to the action as to prepare to defend his teammates.

Theo patted the Ravenclaw crest on his spanking new Quidditch uniform, smiling a little and nodding earnestly along with Jasmine's starting speech. The day was fair, as the Prophet had foretold in yesterday's edition, a perfect day for a Quidditch match. Their first of the season would be against Slytherin, as Hufflepuff and Gryffindor had been pitted against one another already a couple of weeks back. Gryffindor had won that match, and Theo hoped that Ravenclaw would win this one. That meant he and Scott would go head to head, and Theo actually looked forward to that. It was Scott who had gotten him in touch with his flying side, made him realise there was more to the game than being just 'a sport'. He had discovered that flying and Quidditch were extremely fun and exciting. Hence why he had signed up and auditioned for the reserve team, and then been promoted rather quickly to a main team Chaser. Theo was thrilled with his fast promotion. He was delighted to be part of the team. It was an interesting line up - apparently Reaegyn and Adrian, two seventh years, were lesbians together - those were the rumours anyway. Theo had liked them immediately, so perhaps that was his 'gay vibe' picking up things on his radar. Theo had laughed when someone had used that phrasing; he didn't take much offence to simple statements directed at his sexuality. It was all in good jest. However, Theo would get more mad about anyone taking the mick out of gay people just to be snide, and he had a hard time controlling his temper sometimes at the prejudiced students. Still, the Ravenclaw team were certainly not judgemental in this way, and Theo felt like he had fit in straight away.
Jasmine's speech over, and the rest of the team nodding enthusiastically, Theo made his way with the others towards Madam Hooch, standing in the middle of the large pitch, waiting for the players to gather. With the blue Ravens on one side and the green Slyths on the other, Theo tied his boot laces once more, checked his broom just to be sure, and eyed up their opponents. He recognised his fellow fifth years, such as Valmer, Wynd, and Olivia, and there were some he didn't recognise. Theo was admittedly a little nervous, but he was looking forward to his first game - he would do his best for the outcome to be in Ravenclaw's favour. Smiling in determination at one of his teammates beside him, Theo mounted his broom on Madam Hooch's whistle, and kicked off the minute the shrill pierced the air. The atmosphere was thick, filled with anticipation and excitement. The crowd was roaring their approval the moment the fourteen players flew into the air, and it caused Theo to smile to himself. He now understood what Scott meant about the adrenaline rush you got in the air, with the crowd surging behind you, screaming and supporting you. It was truly exhilerating. Rising beside his fellow Chasers, Celia and Elaine, Theo watched as the Quaffle was tossed into the air. He knew that either of his teammates would go for it, so stayed back; he was also wary because it was his first game. And indeed, Elaine dashed forwards to combat Wynd for the Quaffle, but unfortunately, the Slytherin got it ahead of Elaine, and upon snatching it out of the air, proceeded to fly speedily towards the goals, where August was hovering, waiting for an attack.
Determined not to let this happen, Theo noticed Celia covering Olivia, who Wynd was looking to pass it to, then zoomed after Wynd himself. If Celia was going to intercept any passes made, then Theo would try to steal the Quaffle from his classmate and fellow prefect. Thinking a silent apology in his head, Theo swooped onto Wynd, aiming straight at that large red ball so close to his grasp.

((Since it was said that these 2 games are a learning curve I hope no one minds if I make a small change for the sake of the game! Because people are posting actions for next round (because all actions they could perform this round are taken) what I will do is put a list of their actions at the bottom of each Hooch post so that people do not need to re-post them. This means that everyone can assume the actions at the bottom of my post will take place. BUT if people want to change their action they can post again during the round and their action in the list will be considered void. Celia watched as THeo unsuccessfully tried to steal the quaffle from Wynd, not far from where she was. That meant it was her turn to try and intercept the pass to Olivia. Wynd tossed the quaffle over Celia's head but with a long stretch of her arms, she managed to catch it. That was where being tall came in handy in this game. She quickly flew away from the scene, quaffle tucked under her arm and flew to a more open space where she would be able to pass on the quaffle. Luckily while she'd been trying to intercept Elaine had moved away from the area, so Celia decided to pass the quaffle to her younger team mate, who could then hopefully attempt to score, despite Kennedy being a rather tough keeper, by the looks of things.
Meanwhile, the seekers were having very little success, yet she still willed on Jazz to catch the snitch before Valmer did! THe beaters were busy, but unfortunately August, her youngest team-mate had just been hit by a bludger, and there was also one flying at Adriahna as Mary had successfully managed to defend Wynd against the bludger Jami had sent his way. Jami was now attempting to defend Adriahna, but Celia was also wary that as she was in the middle of the field she was also a prime target for bludger attacks, so as she flew around the pitch she tried to avoid the bludgers the best she could.

Caleb moves through the air, concentrating on nothing else, but the movement of the quaffle. The air was brisk and yet he didn't feel it. Didn't feel much of anything other than his own movements. Everything seemed to be in perfect order for him. Neither team was winning or losing, which meant that Slytherin still had the advantage. They'd beat Ravenclaw this time 'round. They had to anyway. It was their only chance to get to the Quidditch Cup. This was Caleb's final year and there was no way he was going to lose the chance to hold that Quidditch Cup.
Broom moved outward, around the Ravenclaw chaser who held the quaffle. Green orbs locked on the ball and the movements she was making. She was going to pass. He could tell and that meant a chance at getting the quaffle. The smirk lined the corner of his lips as he waited flying beside her, ready to burst forward if she passed. The moment he saw her move the ball forward he shot fast to try to intercept.

There was nothing. Jasmine couldn’t even catch the fine hint of gold anywhere! It was still beginning in the game. It will take a while for either of the seekers to notice the snitch. Glancing up briefly, Jasmine grinned as she noticed Celia intercept the pass from the Slytherin chasers. “Go, Celia!” she cheered her hazel eyes landing upon August who had gotten hit by one of the bludgers. Wincing, Jasmine sighed as guilt sickened her stomach. She would substitute soon, but not yet. “You guys are doing great!” Jasmine added excitedly before returning her full attention back on snitch searching. Now, where in the name of Dumbledore could it be?

A swooping feeling churned in Elaine’s stomach as her notice the Slytherin chaser snatch the quaffle from her grasp. That wasn’t the least bit of her problems. Now there was a bludger heading straight towards her? She was about to duck when Jamison had come to her aid deflecting the bludger away from her. Smiling, Elaine flew forward trailing behind the Slytherin chasers. Theo was first to try to take the quaffle back, but failed. Then it was Celia who was successful with the interception. Flying toward her team mate’s side, Elaine distanced herself by zooming forward. Noticing the quaffle release from the sixth years arm, Elaine held out her own arms trying to catch the quaffle.

((We, the developers of this quidditch system, have decided to remove the one ahead system that was put in place last round. This is because we feel it is not fair that not all positions can use it. As well, as one person said…
“I think if Beaters don't have anything to do, they can still post watching what's going on in the game and working out who would make a good target... ie. they can use their imagination and write about something Quidditch-related if they want to post. The same goes for Chasers... those whose team is in possession can always write that they're getting ready in case someone passes to them, and those whose team isn't in possession can always write that they're trying to mark a Chaser on the opposing team. They don't actually do anything in game terms, but they just post and that'll earn them experience points.”
I will still roll the list from last round because I said I would but from now on it will not be in effect. Sorry for any confusion and all the changes!

Valmer cursed at himself, mad that he hadn't seen the golden snitch yet. In any other game, he likely would have caught at least a glimpse by now. But the aggravation just gave him more of a drive to fly around searching for it. He leaned harder on his broom, flying to a new speed, and eyeing the sky around him, looking for the bloody thing. Where are you? I know you're around here somewhere. He thought this to himeself, as he sped around the sides of the pitch. Valmer then caught a glance at Jasmine, the Ravenclaw Seeker. She was good, indeed. But he had vowed he would win this game for the team, and win it he would. She flew by him at a speed he knew he could climb to, and did just that. "Might want to watch your back, Jazz!" he yelled over the wind in his face. He winked, hoping she would see his sarcasm, yet part of him wanted to take her down right there in front of everyone.

Caleb scowls when Celia gets the quaffle past him, immediately zooming back around and taking off after Elaine. This was not going to happen, he was better at Quidditch than this so what was wrong with him? This was what he wanted to do with his life. There was no way he was going to let a bunch of Ravenclaws beat him at his own future. Heck, he was actually hoping that there were scouts in the stands wanting to talk with him. That would be his life's dreams coming true before his eyes if they were, but a miss like that was detrimental to him. Green orbs narrowed as he sped to catch up with Elaine. There was no way he was going to let her score. He was going to steal that quaffle from her and then he was going to pass it off to Wynd or Olivia. He was going to play like a member on a team, not as if it was his friends and him out screwing around. No he was going to pass, it was what the scouts would be looking for...a team player and Caleb was most certainly a team player.
Caleb focused on her movements, his body lining up with hers as his hand went out to try to knock the quaffle from her arms and steal it.

Kennedy breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Wynd emerge from the starting chaos with the Quaffle. It allowed him to lighten up a bit as his muscles were tense with anxiety. Kennedy flew back and forth around the three goal posts, keeping his eye darting from one player to another. He saw that the beaters from both teams were making quick attacks, and he was happy to see that Mary and Dylan were holding their own ground.
His view shifting back to Wynd, Kennedy watched as one of the Ravenclaw Chasers tried to steal the Quaffle. Wynd held tight though and then looked to make a pass to Olivia. In mid-air, the Quaffle was snatched by Celia, a sixth year like Kennedy. He cursed under his breath as he took a tighter grip on his broom handle. His eyes never left the red sphere, and he watched as it was passed to the third Ravenclaw Chaser. She was nearing close enough that she could get a shot off soon.
Balancing his weight, Kennedy prepared himself to make a quick burst to either his right or left. He watched the eyes of the girl with the Quaffle as best he could. If she was going to shoot, he was going to be ready to block her shot. There was no way he was going to let Ravenclaw score the first points. Morale could often be swung in the favour of one team with just one or two goals, and the game would be close enough as it was. Slytherin couldn't risk losing the little bit of team morale that Kennedy had managed to drill into their system. He bit his lip nervously but with determination as he didn't for a second let his stare deviate from the nearing Chaser.

Dylan watched Celia, Ravenclaw Chaser, pass to their other Chaser Elaine successfully. Quickly he looked around for Bludgers, but as soon as he turned his head he noticed a Bludger flying right at Olivia. He quickly flew over to her, his bat at the ready, hoping to defend Olivia, and get a good enough angle to hit the Bludger at Elaine.

Jasmine flew around the pitch aimlessly, her hazel eyes on the search for any kind of hint of gold. The snitch had to be somewhere nearby. Probably in the stands bugging some of the bystanders? Oh, Jasmine didn’t know, but it would eventually show up. Diverting her course in the other way, Jasmine made sure she was out of the chasers way, Ravenclaw still in procession. Elaine held the quaffle firmly under her arms flying toward the goal hoops. Jasmine watched hoping she would score. She was close enough to shoot it. Flying in the other direction of the pitch, Jasmine passed the other seeker who was doing the same. It wasn’t long before he was following behind her, his sarcastic voice causing Jasmine to smirk. “You might want to back off,” she told him firmly changing her course in another direction. Refocusing her mind, Jasmine swooped downwards searching along the sides of the pitch.

Feeling the familiar sensation of happiness as the quaffle landed in her arms, Elaine quickly tucked it under her arm. Holding onto with a firm grip, she squinted her eyes motioning her broom faster forward toward the Slytherin goals. They were only a few meters away, which didn’t leave much time to pass. The Slytherin chasers were already on her tail as well. Picking the quaffle from under her arms, Elaine held in her palms and as she found the perfect distance her arm extended, the quaffle releasing into the air toward the goal hoops. That's if the Slytherin chaser hadn't already taken the quaffle from her arms.

The Ravenclaw keeper was saved by one of the beaters, but it didn’t matter anyways because the shot on goal Mary was preparing for never materialized anyways. This game really wasn’t quite going Slytherin’s way as much as she would have liked. But it was early. And the Ravenclaws didn’t have any real upper hand either. Mary heard the crows roar as the Ravenclaw chasers approached the Slytherin goal. Every game Mary had ever played was like that, all support to the other houses while only Slytherins cheered for their team. It wasn’t a bad thing though, it just made it all the better when you won.
Watching the chasers Mary realised there was a bludger flying at Olivia, but Dylan was already on that. The other bludger was flying free. Mary tracked it down and hit it as hard as she could toward Elaine. If she couldn’t help Slytherin score she could at least prevent Ravenclaw from getting any points.

Hearing the loud cheer of the Ravenclaw stands, Jasmine looked up briefly as she saw the quaffle soaring across the air into the Slytherin hoops. Grinning she threw her hands up into the air and cheered. “Good job guys!” Jasmine yelled loudly over the crowds before returning her attention back on the snitch searching. It wasn’t until then that she noticed a hint of gold near the hoops. Zooming forward Jasmine eased her way toward the hoops her eyes growing wide as she noticed the snitch. It was just carelessly floating there. Without even thinking, Jasmine urged her broom forward quickly turning as the snitch noticed it pursuer. As she got closer, Jasmine gritted her teeth as she held out her hand toward the golden ball its skinny coating within her grasp. She could win the game for Ravenclaw!
