Ryan went methodically through his trunk. He needed his timescheduale so often yet he never seemed to know where he put it. Finally locating the scrap of paper Ryan let his eyes travel over it. Maybe he could find a spare moment to finish his Potions essay? He would most likely need more than one spare moment, but... ah, there it was. History of Magic souded perfect. Instead of sleeping the class away as usual Ryan could finish his essay there. Grabbing his Potions things Ryan rushed out of the common room in the direction of the classroom. Entering the classroom with the bell sounding Ryan let his eyes look over the room before he rushed forward and sat down next to one of his firneds. „Hi Dana,“ Ryan whispered to the 6th year prefect before spreading out his things listening to Binns with only half an ear to see what they would be talking about today anyway.

He lifted an eyebrow at the professor’s comment to him on how to for his voice in his answer. There were perhaps many people who needed to be told how one should properly speak to a group of people, but he was not one of those people. Then, he probably should be surprised at the comment considering it was coming from an old ghost who probably didn’t even know who was answering the question.
“Save your speaking instructions for someone who needs them. Now, I’m a bit rusty on the Egyptian pantheon, but Isis, who was the sister-wife of Osiris would be considered the ultimate goddess. Osiris was originally an earthly ruler, and did a pretty good job, but then his brother, Seth, became jealous, and through a twisted plan involving a coffin, managed to kill him. Then Isis was the one who brought him back to life if I remember correctly, and somehow magically their son Horus was the product of that. Then there was an eighty year struggle between Horus and Seth, though Horus eventually won and became the ruler of the living leaving Osiris as the ruler of the underworld. Seth was left to rule chaos and confusion.”

„Very good, very good, young man. Isis is the main and most important goddess of the Egyptian mythology even though very much importance has been placed into Hathor too. One must not forget Anubis either.“ Nodding her ghostly head Binns continued to float in front of the classroom as he continued his monologue. „Not only Egypt had very fascinating mythology but also India, Chaine, Japan, Mesopotamia and many different cultures on all the continents. However more widely known are the gods from Ancient-Greek. Could someone perhaps tell me two gods who ruled over Greek in mythology?“

'The two Gods that ruled over Greek in mythology.' Danielle thought hard she knew the answer she just couldn't put her finger on it.I just read a book about this last week! O.k. think, think... Got it! I hope, Zeus and Hades? Please be right. She raised her right hand while crossing her legs, toes, and fingers. She tried to cross her eyes too but it didn't work.

A young girl raised her hand and Binns nodded absent-mindedly at her. All these new young faces listening so anxiously. You could learn very valuable lessons from the past. "Yes ms.Peter, please reply." Binns told to the young girl while nodding his head again slowly for a few times in assurance.

Danielle was surprised when professor Binns called her name. Even though he did not get it right. But she guessed that he was talking to her, because he nodded toward her. She cleared her throat before beginning, "Zeus and Hades ruled over the Greek, though I'm not completely sure about Hades." she knew she got it wrong. You idiot!she thought to herself, Everyone knows that Hades ruled the dead not Greece. Why I'm I so dumb?

Glancing over he shoulder Dana smirked at the display. Really, how often did you see a Ravenclaw leaning against a Slytherin as calmly as Cleo awas leaning at Kris? It was a heart-warming view for Dana as she grinned. Not wnating to distrub the couple who for ONCE didn't seem to be arguing loudly Dana returned to her book.
Looking up again only as Ryan collapsed on the seat next to her witht he bell Dana pushed her book further away picking up a muglge pencil and a piece of parchment. "Hey, Ryan. Loose any points for not doing Potions or getting caught with this in History - though Binns most likely wont even notice - and I'll personally skin you." Paying only half a mind to the topic - she knew it by heart anyway. Pointing out a few helpful things to Ryan Dana galnced up as some first year got the answer right. An honest mistake but an mistake none the less. At least half-wrong.
Raising her hand calmly Dana flipped back a strand of her hair waiting to be called on patiently.

Professor Binns simply nodded his old head as ms.Peter didn't really get the answer correct. "True, Zeus was the ruler of gods and humans alike ruling them from his seat on the Olympus moutntain which is the highest top in Greece. But Hades's kingdomm was laid under the earth from where he listened to his brothers orders while looking over tantalos and the Elysium fields where the souls of the dead and ghosts wondered around. Can anyone tell me who helped Zeus govern?"
Binns blinked her eyes nodding slowly at the Ravenclaw prefect. "Please tell the answer miss Coran."

Dana had to work to not roll her eyes as Binns droned on about the Greek gods. It was one of the most interesting parts in history – the mythology and what people believed in. How oculd Binns make even this so boring? „Fluxweed,“ Dana whispered to Ryan pointing out an ingredient he had missed before lookign up as Binns had finally decided to call upon her. „Zeus and Hera were the two main gods of Greece and Hero looked over woman and especially marriage even though Zeus wasn’t known for being the most faithful husband. They were also brother and sister and it took Zeus some time before Hera agreed to marry her but in the end they are the ruling gods in Greek mythology,“ not really knowing whether she was expected to say anything more or not Dana merely shrugged and finished her answer.

"Yes, yes, very good miss Coran. Zeus and Hera were brother and the sister and together they ruled over Greece and all the other gods while the rest of the 12 members of the Gods Council do have a rather big part of a decision to play. Let's not forget the Trojan war the young prince's Parises decision caused.
However Greeces mythology had rather close relations to ROman godesses. WHo cna tell me what the counterparts of Zeus and Hera were called in Rome?"

Zeus and Hera. Zeus and Hera. He knew it. Gary knew that the knowledge was hidden somewhere in his mind. Finally it reached him. The Rome god was named after that big planet! Throwing his arm up Gary hoped he would be called upon.

Dawn sat and listened as the class quickly began. 'Greek and Roman Gods is where our magic began?' she questioned herself as she watched Professor Binns jump around from person to person. Finally Professor Binns asked a question Dawn could answer.
Raising her hand, above her head. She waited to be called on. Looking around the room she found only one other than raised, other than her own.

2 hands rose. History of Magic was a difficult subject but it was so interseting! How could it be that so few people actually understood the glory of history. "Very good. Mr.Crane please tell me what Zeus and Hera were called in ancient Rome so to say. And miss McGrogan perhaps you are able to tell what in ancient Rome were called Poseidon, Aphrodite and Athena. These three names are known to us form Ancient Greece." Nodding away at his own words profesosr Binns listened to the answers to his two questions.

Gary lowered his hand as he was called on and galnced at the Slytherin girl who had also bee asked a question. She didn’t seem to be in any rush to answer so Gary spoke up himself. „Zeus was called Jupiter in Ancient Rome and he is the Lord of Sky and Gods so to say. He always carried around lightning bolts so he is also the god of thunder. Hera his husband was called Juno and as already said she was the Lady of Sky and Gods and the protector of marriage.“
Having told everything he thought was necessary Gary looked at the Slytherin girl again with a warm smile on his lips waiting to hear her answer.

Professor Binns, Called on Both Dawn and the other boy raising his hand. Professor went on about the boy answering the question already asked- and Dawn to answer a new one. A look she gave Professor Binn's softened her feature's as she started to wonder, what exactly the question would be. She really wasn't strong when it came to God's and Goddess's, so she wasn't exactly sure if she could answer the question. "What in ancient Rome were called Poseidon, Aphrodite and Athena?" The question repeated in her mind. She was glad the boy could answer first, so she had time to think.
The boy finished and turned to Dawn with a smile about him. Looking away, she began. "Well Professor, If I am not mistaken the equivalent of the first name your presented, Poseidon, is the God of the Sea, Neptune. Also, going off of the others; such as Aphrodite. There is Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. I actually know a fun fact about her. She turned people to stone if they dishonored her...." Dawn's face shown a grin as she went on. "...And Last there is Athena, the equivalent of her is Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom, Crafts, and War. Minerva is also known for creating the olive tree. And Inventing the flute." As Dawn finished, she looked at the professor for an agreed state, or not.

Stupid little students everywhere! No matter where Melantha went this morning there were stupid kids running about and shouting. She had work to do and needed somewhere quiet to do it. As she walked down the hallway she started approaching the classrooms and a mass of students who were all busily talking about their subjects and studies. One room was fairly quiet so she ventured in seeking a quiet place to work.
Upon entering the room she found several students already in the class waiting for it to begin. The boring decorations and mounds of books meant this was History of Magic, perhaps one of the worst classes ever, still it would probably be quiet. As she walked in she saw an alarming number of Slytherins including Dawn. Walking over to where Dawn was, Melantha threw her bag down on an empty seat and sat down next to Dawn. “Boring morning isn’t it?” She said while removing several home decorating magazines and a scroll of parchment and laid them on the table. “I’m looking for a new interior design for my home, right now Lina is taking down and storing the summer decorations, I’d like to have the winter decorations purchased by the weekend.”
Soon the class began and Professor Binns began his old boring lecture and Melantha blocked it out completely, instead she just flipped through her magazines and wrote down all the items she found that would go well in her estate. As the class progressed Dawn raised her hand causing Melantha to put down her magazines in an effort to look like she was paying attention. All the while Dawn was giving her answer, Melantha gave her an icy look followed by a disgusted sigh when she finished her answer. With the classes attention once more away from her, Melantha opened her magazine again and thumbed through it some more.

Never stopping his nodding Binns approved the two answers he received from the Ravenclaw and Slytherin. "Yes, yes, all very good. Greek and Roman mythology have very much in common but before we start exploring that further I want to make sure everyone know that are ather mythologies and gods in the world too. For example the Norse mythology is very intriguing. Can someone name the gods from Norse mythology as well as explain the meaning of Ragnarok?"

Although she had stayed quiet before, Kiani raised her hand slowly. She thought she knew the answer, though was not entirley sure. She remembered her mother going through an odd fase when she was pregnant with Kiani's baby brother, and had gone to Mythology for knowledge. Although she thought there were many meanings for Ragnarok, she believed she knew one fairly simple version. Raising her hand higher, she waited to be called upon.

Natalie had just left DADA as she recently figured out was Defense Against The Dark Arts. When she walked into the room she noticed that there were not many familiar faces. She again chose that she would sit right up front so as not to get distracted too easily. She took at her quill and parchment and got ready for what she thought would be her favorite class yet. As The teacher walked in, she noticed the oddest thing! It was a ghost! Surely a ghost could not teach a class but then she thought again, after all he was a ghost, he cold have died centuries ago so what better subject than History of Magic. After getting over this quick thought she went right back to work. Natalie took professor Binns' words as a sign to start taking notes. Her quill moved rapidly and when he stopped speaking she noticed that all the other Students were staring at her. Apparently taking notes was not the way things were done in this school. She didn't matter much though. After all, her schoolwork was her life.

Norse mythology. Wonder Binns asked about it even. Mostly people only knew the very basics about Greek or Roman mythology. Leaning back in his chair Kris raised a lazy hand half-way into air in order to signalize to the professor that he knew the answer. He probably knew a lot more than Binns wanted to know in class about Norse mythology.
