Post by Professor Binns on Nov 3, 2005 18:55:01 GMT
Professor Binns slowly floated towards his classroom not paying any attention to the wild cackle of the young Peeves who hurried by. Youngsters were so untameable sometimes. But never had anyone broken the order in his class. It was warming to Binns’s old ghostly heart that students really cared about the History and what had came before them. How many of his students would make their own marks in the history yet to come? Binns was teached a class with no end just like time never stopped or paused.
Finally floating into his own classroom Binns waved the ghostly white wand in his hand making the door to the classroom click silently as it unlocked. Being unable to use his own hands Binns waved his wand and curiously studied the notes and schemes that flew out of the cupboard to cover his desk. He gave this class every year to young interested faces yet the subject never grew boring. Not paying any attention to the sound of chairs moving and the chatter filling the classroom as students entered Binns was rather keenly reading the information spread on his desk.

History of Magic wasn't one of her favorite classes but she had to go. Walking in she saw Professor Binns reading something. It was kinda hard to see him since he was a ghost so Danielle had to squint.Walking toward a desk and sat down wating for the class to begin.

Flo sat, busy playing with her hair. She yawned and looked around. She saw students chatting to each other and getting ready for class. Class!!!! Flo jumped up, grabbed her stuff, and rushed through the corridor to get to History of Magic class. Flo did have to admit that it was a little boring. But only a little. Well to her. She heard from students, that they would die of boredom in that class. How could you die of boredom? That impossible! Flo would think to herself. But even if it was full of boredom, that you could die, or it was all exciting, and got to do fun things, everyone had to go.
Flo started to hop. Then she decided to skip. Then, she walked. As she arrived at the door, Flo peered in., seeing that not many people were there. Flo walked in the classroom, and sat down. She rested her head on her hand, and started to play with her hair again.

He was actually early--something that didn't exactly happen often. He was hardly ever late, but he had a habit of barely making it to anything onetime. Of course it would be History of Magic that he made it to early though. He already like history well enough, but Binn's had a knack at making everything seem less interesting than it really was. It wasn't really a required class for him anymore, being a 7th year, but he didn't really mind it, and enough of his memory was gone after what had happened at Diagon Alley that he didn't remember much of what he had learned in some of his first few years worth of classes.
As he stepped into the class room he found that only a couple of students had made it here before him, one of which was a fellow Huffie, Flo, and he walked down to the chair beside her. "Mind if I join you?"

Dana sauntered down the hallways rather slowly her nose once again buried in books. True, trying to read while walking wasn’t always overly successful. But then again Dana had had 6 years of practice on reading into the hallways of Hogwarts. Not really being in any hurry – Binns most likely woulnd’t even notice whether she was in class or not, Dana moved slowly enough. Maybe moving slowly enough was what made sure Dana didn’t fall or constantly run into someone. Seeing her coming and not paying attention made most people step out of the way. History of Magic was a very interesting subject. One of Dana’s favorites. But she learned it on herself. Binns made the class itself unbearable boring but luckily Dana hadn’t found herslef sleeping in the class yet.
Sneezing abruptly Dana nodded to someone passing who muttered a quick ’Bless you’ to her. As it turned out her sneezing had came at the correct time as Dana had almost already passed the door to the classroom. Taking the required 5 steps backwards Dana closed her book with a slight snap and pulled open the classroom door. A quick sweeping glance over the classroom told Dana that she was one of the first persons here. The roomw as occupied by some first year, and two Hufflepuffs. One of htem a 7th year who shared some classes with Dana, so Dana gave Payton a quick quirky smile.
Not bothering to greet the professor – he wouldn’t notice her greeting anyway! – Dana made her way trhough the desks and chose a seat in a row of 4 seats in the middle of classroom and the third bench from the front. Taking one of the middle seats, Dana shifted herslef to sit comfortably and pulled out her book and a few scraps of parchment before opening her book once again, having memorized the page she was on. A moment later Dan ahad already found her mark where she had stopped reading and soon she was immersed in the book once again.

History of Magic was one of the classes Kris could pass in his sleep. One of the classes being blind didn’t really make harder as Kris was rather good at geography too, so imagening where different battles took place wasn’t really that hard for him. Kris enjoyed the class and the ’O’ in his OWLs results had clearly displayed his ability in the subject. However boring Binns was, but Kris did actually prefer learning on his own in all clases, so he wasn’t bothered very much.
Some second year bumped ino him and Kris grabbed her shoulder rather coolly. Some people never learned how to watch out for Slytherins. Colly Kris casted a fairly simple charm that changed the girls shoes to rollerblades before giving a strong shove, sending the girl careening down the hallway as Kris himself continued to walk towards History of Magic classroom. Pushing the classroom door open after Morrigan had extracted her calws to signalize that Kris had came to the correct door.
Pushing the door open Kris let it crash closed after his back and making his wave with the black ebony walking cane through the desks dropped himself in one of the last benches in the 4-seat row.

If she thought it was possible, she would have floated into class. She had just been asked to the Halloween ball....read date been asked. She could hardly believe it. She finally let her weight fall into one of the chairs near the door, not sure she would make it all the way inside and to one of the seats closer to the front if she didn't. Anything other than history was on her mind at the moment, even if she did try to get herself to focus by opening her book and flipping through the pages. The only problem was that she kept looking at the pictures and thinking of they would make a good costume.

Mitch walked in to the History of Magic class and went straight to the back so he could go to sleep if Professor Binns started on one of the none stop lectures the older kids had warned him about. Mitch got all the things he'll be needing quill etc, then sat and waited for the rest of from what he heard was a boring class.

A Guide to the Snitch was starting to get a little boring that day, so Leon snapped it shut with a soft 'pat'. Rising from his bed, he put the book on his drawer shelf, and seized his bag from the corner. Selecting a few correct books from his bedside table, Leon carefully set them in his bag and slipped his feet into his shoes. After pushing a comb through his messy hair, Leon left the dorm for History of Magic.
As the boy entered the room Leon sighed. Professor Binns looked, as always, like watching the Fat Lady would be more exciting. Waving with fake enjoyment and cheeriness at the teacher, Leon took a seat in the middle of the room and waited patiently to get bored.

Victoria swept her hair out of her eyes and strutted across the corridor. She had her brown bag resting on her shoulder and her shoes made a sound that echoed around the corridor. She waled inside the classroom and dropped her bag and sat on her own in the corner.
She looked around and as no one interesting was in the classroom she got out her mirror. It was a small, gold mirror which her father had given her for her birthday. She looked at her brow carefully and flicked stray bits of hair out of the way.
How she hated History of Magic, the notes, the lectures, the teacher and of course the people who actually enjoyed the subject! She put her mirror back into her bag and rested her head on her hands. God, she thought as she examined the people in the classroom more closely, how do I know this is going to be boring!

Kiani smothered her tiny little kitten, Kia, in a last fresh set of kisses as she left the dorm. Her green bag bumped at her side as she left for History of Magic, which she dreaded. Walking into the room, Kiani looked around. She scowled at two hufflepuffs, and then headed towards the corner of the class to sit near another Slytherin, two years older. Taking out her ink, a little parchment pad and a small nail file, Kiani quickly shaped each of her long nails in turn, while looking around her all the time. She noticed the girl near her taking out a little mirror, and smiled at it.
"Thats pretty, that mirror. I have the same in green and silver...your name is Victoria, right?" Kiani questioned, trying to be kind. She recalled the girl from somewhere else in her memory, and waited for an answer.

Cleo’s heels were clicking on the floor again. The last class of today – history of Magic. Biins was dead anyway so Cleo had seized the moment to change out of the uniform. A pair of tight black pants and a soft red sweater that left her shoulder bare Looked as good as ever on Cleo. The main colours she wore were red, black and white because these colours created the best ackgrounds for her own hair. Cleo hadn’t even bothered to bring along her book or any writing material. She spent most History Calsses sleeping anyway. Or painting her nails. So why bother with any things?
Pushing the door open in front of her Cleo sauntered into the room letting her eyes glide over the occupants of it. The dead professor some people she knew and some she didn’t. Seeing Kris sitting in the last bench Cleo made her way calmly towards him dropping herself on one of the seats and throwing her legs calmly onto Kris’s lap. This was oging to be payback for the Muggle Studies lesson. „Missed me sweetheart?“ Cleo cooed sweetly turning her leg lightly so she coudl still lean on the back while Kris’s fingers shifted to massage her legs almost absent-mindedly as the Slytherin shifted lightly as well before smirking and in a matter of moments Cleo and Kris were once again engaged in a quiet arguement that neither really observed. They were rather enjoying each others company a relaxed verbal spar.

Waking up by the sounds of other girls moving around in the hall, Dawn rolled to her side and opened her eyes. A window- Dawn made herself- sat on her wall. The window really wasn't a window to the outside. Of course not, due to the fact Dawn lived in the dungeons, but it was a window which showed how it looked if you lived in or above ground level in Hogwarts. Clever really, And Dawn loved it. She liked to know when she woke up if it was light or dark outside. Well, Dawn looked at the window and saw the sun was just rising. 'About 6:00 6:05.' Dawn guessed in her mind as she pushed off her sheets and stepped out of her bed. Placing her feet in slippers already put in place, Dawn walked over to the bathroom and started to take her morning shower.
When she was out fo the shower, it was about 6:20. Walking in a robe into her room, the other seventh year girls were still sound asleep. Grinning as Pansy's snores echoed through the room, Dawn begain to put on her school uniform. Putting a drying spell on her hair, Dawn's long blonde locks, which fell past her shoulders hung eleganly and shinny as she brushed it dry. Walking over to her end table, beside her bed, she picked up her wand. Tapping the table, a muffin appeared. Smiling, she pocketed her wand, and took the muffin in hand. Gathering her History of Magic book she begain towards the door.
About ten minutes later, Dawn emerged her the dungeon stairs and arrived in the main hallway. Looking up he main stair case, she had a few more floors to go. About five minutes later, Dawn arrived at the History of Magic classroom. A few students already arrived and ready to learn. Dawn looked around the class and was pleased to see a few other Slytherins joined, for once. Hopping to recieve a few house pointes today, Dawn Set her book down, and finished her muffin before the class began.

Victoria looked up at the girl who had just mentioned her mirror. "Thats pretty, that mirror. I have the same in green and silver...your name is Victoria, right?" Victoria studied the girl, from her hair, her clothes, her face and, most importantly, her badge. She was Slytherin so Victoria let out a grin to the girl. "Yeah, I'm Victoria and you are?" she asked indicating the girl to sit down beside her.
Victoria looked around to see a girl she knew to be Cleo and a fellow Slytherin together. Her face went to complete revulsion. Disgusting Ravenclaws, she thought as she turned away.
Victoria saw that Professor Binns was going to start to she took out the equipment she needed. She wasn't going to use it, mind you, she just knew that it was needed. She shook her hair and rubbed her cheek which still hurt from the fall.

Kiani smiled back at the girl, watching her get out her things. Shifting to a seat next to Victoria, she took out her own little green and silver mirror, showed it to the girl then put it away. The Kiani looked to where Victoria was looking, seeing the Ravenclaw and Slytherin nearby greet. Replusive, thought Kiani. She scowled at them, her eyes narrowed.
"God- a Slytherin and that Ravenclaw together, never thought i'd see the day. Just look at her hair- disgusting. And my name is Kiani, by the way. Third year." Kiani scowled again. She looked back to her things, blowing her kitten's fur off of her jumper.

History of Magic. If htere was something worth learning, then everyone would learn it by themselves. Ariane didn’t understand why she had to know about goblin rebellions. Golbins were lower class. Why bother? But class was class and Ariane was expected to bring home exceptional grades. A mudblood being better than a Dianne would simply not be tolerated. So Ariane entered the History of Magic classroom and looked around. A few people she knew. Kris but he was sitting with some Ravenclaw girl. Hesitating a moment whether or not to say hi Ariane decided not to as the girl seemed to be feeling rather comfortable with her legs on Kris’s lap. There were some more Slytherins but only one of them interested Ariane a little. Dawn McGrogan. Not only was it a known pureblood family, but it was also one of the Slytherin Queens. Her parents had told Ariane good things baout the small group so Ariane decided to go a bit closer.
„Good day,“ Ariane greeted the 7th year Slytherin politely for a moment and took a seat behind her. As she was merely a first year still – Ariane coulnd’t afford to appear to be pushy or arrogant towards older Slytherins just yet. At least not to Slytherins who actually held some meaning.

Post by Professor Binns on Nov 11, 2005 14:22:16 GMT
Binns was enthralled in the old wisdom spread out in front of his old eyes. He had seen it countless times yet it was always new. There was no end to wisdom. Wisdom was timeless. You couldn’t learn it for an hour or a day or even just a few days. If you wanted to be smart you had to not only understand but understand history, learn from it’s mistakes and admire its glory. There was nothing else that could compare with history. History was the beginning, the present and would become the future.
Binns was ripped out of his thoughts by the school bell. “Good day everyone we are going to be learning about a very important and influential matter now that influenced wizards and witches as well as muggles. Can anyone tell me what it is? Religion has always played a grand role in all lives. Faith gives strength to carry on even on the darkest of times and believing into some higher force guiding our lives is what helps many understand the mysteries of life and teaches us how to cope with them. Even in the most ancient times there were religions. Trees, birds and animals nature was given souls and meaning later on came even higher standing gods and goddesses. Today we are going to be looking at many such religions known in ancient times. We shall be beginning with Egypt. Can anyone name the ultimate female goddess, the ruler of gods and pharaohs and the god of the underworld to me?”

He had made it to class well before he needed to be there, but in his mind it was almost better that way. He could pick a seat near the back and settle down where he would be undisturbed. Normally he didn't care about things like questions his professors asked, or at least not until another student already screwed up an answer that wasn't that difficult to begin with, but today he was sick of beating around the bust. He heard the question about Egyptian religion and he leaned forward in his seat, his hand raised--still remembering his lecture on how he needed to have proper classroom etiquette.

"Yes yes tell me the answer if you please." Binns waved his hand dismissingly at the first year Hufflepuff boy who had rose his hand to show he knew the answer. "And don't mumble in front of yourself but speak out clearly."

After arriving to History of Magic and the exact proper moment he settled down in a seat near the fond of the class and directed his attention toward the professor, his book open and parchment ready to take notes. He listened carefully to the professors question and thought about an answer for a moment. He debated on answering, but then he saw a fellow Hufflepuff's hand reach up and he smiled. He recognized the boy a saw first year, and was pleased that there seemed to be a bright young badger willing to speak up in class.
