Padme walked away from the girl and Jack briskly, not wanting it to appear that she would rather have them come with her. She blew a stray strand of brown hair out of her honey-brown eyes and entered Ollivander's wand shop. It was very busy, five students were waiting for a sixth to get finished picking his wand. They were all laughing and gossiping loudly. Padme rolled her eyes. Talk about stupid, good-for-nothing... She thought irritably as the group laughed especially loud when the kid trying to find the right wand put Ollivander's head on fire. Padme would have giggled a bit if she had done it, but instead she stood in the doorway, waiting for the group to file out. This is going to be a long wait.
After ten minutes, the kid found the right wand and headed out of the shop. Padme glared at him as he walked by her; he had gotten there before her. She started tapping her foot loudly so it could be heard and sent each child a glare. Their laughter died instantly, and they all looked uncomfortable to be around the glaring girl. Padme laughed and shifted her feet. They were already getting tired from standing in one spot for ten whole minutes. She knew it would be about thirty more before it was her turn. She decided she would have to wait it out, much to her disgust.
Another ten minutes went by slowly; two of the five children were done, so that left three more to go. Padme sat down in an empty chair as far away from the group as possible and sat there sulking. Her foot was tapping again and she looked murderous. She had wasted even more precious time doing absolutely nothing. Where's Jack? He better not have run from me. I'm not scary, am I? Her last thoughts amused Padme, a slight smile appeared on her lips as the door opened with a loud creaking noise.

Jack nodded at Mack. "Yeah, better go get the snapper." He walked as slowly as possible to Ollivander's, almost afraid to see his sister again. If she was his sister. He still wasn't sure. He needed it to be explained to him in full detail. He sighed and pushed the door open to the wand shop. Inside was three children and...Padme. Jack's heart could have fell to the floor and smashed if it wasn't held inside him. The girl was looking angry, not just angry, venomous. Jack shivered slightly. He knew what House she was going to end up in. Diffinantly Slytherin. He wasn't sure if he was impressed by this or if he was upset about it. If she was in his House, he would have to deal with her almost all the time.
He held the door open for Mack and once they were all inside he walked over to Padme. It seemed like she was last in line, the child trying to find the right one had just smashed a pot in the corner. Jack watched Padme closely until his was sure that he could approach her. "So, what's taking so long?" He asked while sitting next to the small girl. He knew this would be sent back at him in a snap, but he didn't really mind.

They walked into Ollivanders and Mack couldn't help but laugh when Jack asked Padme what was taking so long. She waved her arm as if to emphasise the jam-packed shop. Her right eyebrow cocked upward, "Can you not see this line? Packed with ickle firsties. Were you not a young first year at one point, Mr. Rendel?" Mack asked with so much sarcasm it was hard for her to keep her head intact. She looked at Padme with a smirk.
"So- one boy set Ollivander on fire, what you gonna do to him? Burn him to a crisp?" She asked with that gleam of malice and evil in her clear blue eyes.

Padme looked up to see Jack and the girl enter Ollivander's. Great, they can see what I can do to this place. Padme thought with satisfaction. She heard the girl say something to Jack about never being a first year. Padme rolled her eyes, but she didn't pay much attention. She didn't even answer Jack's question, since it was quite pointless. Now, there's only two left. She watched as the third boy exited with his wand. She stared at the girl coldly. She looked up and down the girl.
"No, I'd much rather it be you," she said sweetly, her tone of voice not reaching her eyes. She giggled at the thought and then raised her eyebrows at the girl. "So- who are you? Halfblood, mutt, whatever you are. I have to know your name before I set you on fire. You see, then I could ever remember it." She sighed and smirked at the girl. I don't care who the hell she is. I would rather know her name then call her ''the girl,'' though.

This girl was really getting on Mackenzie's bad side, she flashed Jack a warning glance that said 'tell your bratty sister she better back off before I hurt the hell out of her, and you know I can.' Mack looked back at Padme- genuine annoyance and hatred in her eyes now, "I'm hell." She told her with a sharp, venemous tone.

Jack looked at Padme and then Mack with a smile on his face. This should be interesting. I don't think I've seen Mack's bad side before. Jack glanced at Padme and shook his head slightly. He wondered if she had gotten the signal or if she would listen. Probably not, but the look Mack was giving him looked very scary. He was worried for Padme, but the girl seemed to be able to fend for herself. He frowned inwardly.
"Look, you two. Let's give it a rest. It's not worth it." He knew that Mack might not listen but he was almost positive Padme wouldn't. He sighed, knowing there was no way he could stop this, now that is had started.

Mack rounded on Jack- "I'll stop once you tame this wild beast. She needs to get the fact that I am superior than her, know more magic, and she can't treat me like I'm the dirt beneath her feet. I am from the Holden blood line. I have more connections in this world than she can dream of, and my sister is one nasty Slytherin- so she better watch out if she thinks she can treat me this way because she will have hell after her." Mack snapped at her best-friend. She knew he knew she was serious, she just hoped to God she wouldn't have to show any more of this side to him.

Padme glared at the girl when she said that she was hell. "Ooooh, very scary." Padme said with uncontrollable giggles. "Look, you need to come up with better threats, because I'm not very frightened." Maybe I am. But it doesn't matter because she's not going to find out. Anyway, I'd like to see hell come from someone else besides myself. Padme let her thoughts trail away as she listened to what Mack said to her big brother.
"Beast? Me? Honestly!" Padme said with more giggles. "Don't you realize that I'm not afraid of you or your damn sister? I don't care if you are of the Holden bloodline! I can treat you the way I want until you yourself stop it. Your big sister isn't going to be there to look after you your whole life." She knew she might have hit a nerve. Padme shook her head and noticed the last girl was standing up there trying for her wand. Any moment now she would get what she had wanted for as long as she could remember.

She couldn't help herself. And before she could do anything, Mack was up and her hand was slapped across Padme's face. When Mack realised what she was doing she put her hand to her mouth and tears stung her eyes, "I'm so sorry. I...I've got to go..." Mack tucked some hair behind her ear and turned to leave the shop. She paused at the door, "I'm sorry."
Mack swore she would never do that, never be like her mother or her father. Never.
((I hope it's alright if I did that, but this is Mack's bad side.))

((Don't worry about it. Padme's always getting slapped around. )) Padme felt hell's hand whip across her face. It stung and hurt, but Padme bit back the tears that filled her eyes. She didn't say anything in case her voice would betray her. She watched as the girl stood up to go. This is the time to speak. "Miss Holden," Padme called out quietly to the girl. "Please don't go. I'll take back my words if you wish, but please stay. It would be boring without you." She smiled at the girl and then gave Jack a side look. "Besides, it didn't even hurt. Don't worry about it." She grimaced as she touched her face but she tried to smile at the Holden girl. "Don't go."

((OK, I was worried that you would get mad A lot of people are like that, ya know?)) Mack heard Padme call to her, and she turned to face them. Tears sliding down her cheeks. When the girl said that it would be boring without her, Mack couldn't help but laugh and wipe at her tears; "Yeah. Cause Jack just loves to hear us bicker." She told Padme with a roll of her eyes. Mack wiped at her tears again and walked back over to them, she winced at the red mark on Padme's face; "Here..." she swung her bag around and pulled out an ice pack, "hold this on it. It's the best for slaps and bruises. I really am sorry. I swore to myself I would never do anything like that. Not me. Ever. But I guess its unavoidable. When you grow up, you become like your parents...." She told Padme and Jack with a sad tone.

((Yeah, I understand. No worries though. )) Padme was glad when the Holden girl turned around and came to sit back down. Tears were sliding down her cheeks. Padme felt sorry for her, even though she was the one who had gotten slapped. She took the ice pack from the Holden girl and held it to her face. It felt good, and soon her face was numb. She couldn't feel the pain. She handed it back to Miss Holden and then turned back to Ollivander. It seemed like the girl had finally gotten the right wand and the old man was beckoning for Padme to come up. She flounced to the counter, ignoring the skeptical glance Ollivander sent her when he saw her face. She stood and waited as Ollivander measured and muttered things under his breath. Finally, he pulled out a long, slender box and handed it to Padme. "Try that." Padme nodded and picked up the wand. She flicked it around and made the window behind Ollivander smash. The man snatched the wand away and Padme was going to say something rude about it when he handed her another wand. She did the same thing once again and made water spray out of the wand tip and into Ollivander's eyes. She giggled lightly and let the man snatch the wand away. The pile of wands behind Padme grew larger and larger. She had set two fires, broke three windows, smashed one vase, and sprayed water so far. Ollivander handed her another and she sheepishly took it and waved it around. Purple sparks flew out of the wand and Ollivander clapped his hands together in excitement. Padme took the wand and stuffed it into her bag. She payed up and walked back to Jack and Holden. Her face glowing with pride. "I got it! I finally got it!" She told them with glee, all traces of their argument gone, except for the red part of her face. "Could we go get ice-cream now? I'm hungry."

Jack watched as Padme angered Mack and got slapped. He was surprised that it had come to that; Jack never knew that Mack would go that far. His eyes showed concern for his friend as she stood up to leave and was about to say something when Padme did; much to his surprise. Padme told Mack to stay otherwise it would be boring, and Jack laughed along with Mack, even though the insult was directed at him. Then, Ollivander called up Padme and started trying out for her wand. It seemed to take forever for her to find the right one and when she did she asked if they could go for ice-cream. This girl is always on the move, isn't she? He smiled down at Padme.
"Sure. Would you like some ice-cream, Mack? I'll pay." He shook his pockets, which rattled merrily with coins. He opened the shop and let Mack and Padme through before closing the door with a snap.

Mack smiled as Jack held open the door for them, "Thanks" she said." And ice cream would be nice. But you don't have to pay. I'm happy to, I mean it's the least I can do...for..." Mack looked at Padme's cheek- still very sorry for it.
"So, to the ice cream parlor, then?" She asked with a sweet smile and a raise of her eyebrow. She situated her purse so it wasn't too heavy and looked at Padme and Jack.

Padme looked up at her older brother. It's amazing how tall he is. I have to look all the way up to see him, and then that hurts my neck. She walked out of the store quietly, for once. She wasn't sure what to say anymore. She wanted to make another smart remark, but she still felt sorry for Mack. So she kept her mouth shut and walked on. She looked from Jack to Miss Holden when the were trying to decide who should pay. Padme's stomach rumbled and she started tapping her foot again. She stopped quickly and looked at the other two. She didn't even know the girl's name yet. All she knew is that she was a Holden. Padme had heard of the Holden's before; Tessa talked like they were just as bad as Roger.
"Yeah, to the ice-cream parlor." She said as she walked forward. "I want a suday, alright? Those are really good." With the chocolate syrup and the nuts on top. Oh and don't forget the cherry. Yum! She didn't say her thought's out loud, since it would be strange to hear herself talking about how good sundaes were. She smirked at the thought and walked even faster. Soon, they were at the parlor. She grinned at the two and then walked up to the seller.
"Hi," Padme said sweetly, her eyes wide and innocent looking. Anyone who knew Padme would know that she was faking it, but the man didn't. "Could I have a sundae, pleeeaaasssee?" She whined. "All I have is a knut." She held it out in her palm with a wide grin on her face. The man was falling for it; he was starting to look sorry for her. He got a sundae ready and handed it down to her. Padme turned and walked off with a smirk. She walked over to the other two so they could see her accomplishment. "Some people are just too nice, you know?" She giggled and walked over to a table that was sitting outside. She would have gotten the girl and Jack something too, but she hadn't been sure if the man would have fallen for that. She started eating her sundae, savoring every bite.

Jack walked behind Padme, who was walking rather fast. She must be excited about...ice-cream. Strange. I didn't know ice-cream could make a girl like Padme excited. He got rid of the thoughts. The ice-cream parlor was in view and in no time they arrived at the counter. Padme walked right up to the man and started begging. Jack raised his eyebrows and looked at Mack to see what she thought about this. Jack knew that Padme had money; she had payed for her wand with no hesitation. It worked and Padme had her sundae after only paying one knut. He shook his head and then approached the counter. He glanced at the menu behind the man before looking at Mack.
"You sure you want to pay? I can still." He was almost positive Mack wouldn't let him pay, but he asked anyway. After all, Padme didn't seem to mind the slap so much, so she doesn't really have to worry about it.

Mack watched with slight amusement as Padme begged for the ice cream. She tilted her head and said to Jack; "Why do all that effort and beg when she had the money to just pay? I swear, that girl is so self-ish. Doesn't she know there are actual kids out there that have to do that?" Mack growled with anger. She remembered when she had to do that, because Derreck and Pam wouldn't give her any money for an ice cream cone. She had to beg for one, and still didn't get one. She sighed and rubbed her eyes as they walked up to the counter, again Jack asked if she really wanted to pay.
"Actually, I don't have any money left...I was planning on begging." She told him with sarcasm, "No. I'm paying." Mack took out two sickles and looked up at the menu, she wanted just a chocolate cone. Mack looked to Jack, "I'm paying for you too. So choose your ice cream." She smiled and then ordered hers.

"She is selfish and evil," Jack said while shaking his head and walking up to the counter. Mack said that she would order and Jack laughed lightly but said no more about it. "Chocolate's good." He told the man behind the counter. He could hear him making the ice-cream, but Jack wasn't looking at what he was doing. He was looking down, not really interested in what was happening around him. I want to know more about Padme. How is she my sister? Maybe she is the daughter of the other man Tessa apparently married. I just don't think it's possible for this to happen! Jack scuffed his feet against the ground and looked up as the man passed them their ice-cream. He took his and went to sit down next to Padme. He sat across from her, so he could have a good view of her face.
"So, tell us. How are you my sister?" he asked while taking a bite out of his ice-cream. It tasted delicious in the hot weather, nd he took another bite, waiting for a good explanation.

Padme watched as the two of them whisper and talk about something; probably her. Padme rolled her honey-brown eyes, waiting for them to get over here. Her sundae was melting rapidly; some of it got on her hands. She licked it hungrily and took a huge bite out of it. The cherry was already gone; the chocolate was stirred and most of it gone as well. Padme licked it for a while and looked up as Jack walked over with the Holden. I still don't know her name. I wonder what it is. Cameron said something about the Holdens before, but I forget what it was. Nothing good, I expect. Jack finally asked why she was his sister. Padme smirked.
"I thought you would never ask," she said with a false sweet smile. "Well, I guess it all started when your dad kicked Tessa out. He didn't know that she was pregnant, so he doesn't know about me. Tessa moved into London and hid from him; why I don't know. I was born six months after Tessa was kicked out of the Rendel manor. That's all. Surprising, isn't it, how something so simple can be so confusing." She smiled. "That's it. That's all. That's what happened. Quite easy to understand. Since your dad never knew, you never knew. Get it?" Padme smirked and took another bite of ice-cream. She then looked at the Holden girl.
"So, what's your name? I know you're a Holden, you said something about it. I already asked you this, and you said hell, but I know it's not your real name. "Cause, if you're hell, then what am I" she grinned. I would be worse than hell. She then looked back at Jack."So, any questions? You can ask some too, Holden, since you seem to be his best friend. Just ask."

Mack payed for the ice-cream and then followed Jack back to Padme. She listened to Padme explain, and Mack wondered how in the name of hell did a little 11 year old know all this? Jack's family is more screwed up than I thought it to be... She licked her ice cream when Padme finished and asked Mack her name. When she didn't respond automatically, the little girl went and said they could ask questions- referring to Mack as Holden. Mack shuddered at that, "Please no. Don't call me Holden. Call me Mack." She said with another shudder.
"And I have one. How is it- that you know all of this? Did your mother just sit you down and tell you this? And if she did then why didn't she contact Jack or try to get custody of him? Forget about Mr. Rendel being a big shot; that doesn't matter in the muggle world. And if your mother is a smart enough woman, I would think she would get a lawyer and take Sasquatch to court. After all- she did love Jack, right?" Mack raised her eyebrow at Padme, and then licked her ice-cream again.
