Ivy was surprised when Amelia started laughing. She had looked annoyed before, but now she was amused. Ivy gazed at Amelia, not quite knowing what to make of it. Had she said something funny without knowing it?
Amelia explained that she was laughing at her mum who was, apparently, funny. Ivy was skeptical, her forehead wrinkled in confusion. But then again, she thought, brightening up, Amelia had no reason to deceive her as to why she was laughing - she was choosing to spend time with her so it wasn't exactly as if Ivy would be annoying her.
Ivy gave Amelia a shy smile, not quite sure what Amelia would think she had been thinking. She thought that Amelia looked like the kind of person who would notice little changes to the facial expressionand be able to work out what the other person was feeling.
"So then," Ivy asked neither one in particular, "Have you got any fixed plans for this morning or is it all right if I tag along?"
She hoped it was OK to ask them that question directly, and that Amelia's mum wouldn't consider her rude.
'You really need to practice talking to adults,' she told herself, half-jokingly, half-seriously.

Amelia noticed Ivy's confusion and felt slightly stupid. She hated when she started laughing for no apparent reason. It was just that Amelia felt she needed to lighten the mood sometimes, plus her mom is a strangly humorous person. She sighe dhappily as Ivy smiled at her.
When she asked to tag along Amelia suddenly felt hyper. Sherrie thought about that for a moment. Amelia pleaded her mother with her sparkling blue eyes. Sherrie stared at Amelia for a moment, at first un captivated by Amelia's Puppy Eyes. then Amelia stuck out her bottom lip and Sherrie sighed.
"Of course you can come," Sherrie said to Ivy, "And dear, don't stick out your bottom lip unless you want it chopped off!" Amelia bit her lip and faked a fearfull glance. Then smiled at Ivy.
"Forgive me for my insanity!" she leaned into Ivy and whispered, "I get it from her though," she pointed at her mother and laughed.

Ivy watched as Amelia pleaded silently with her mum to allow her to come. Ivy felt a surge of happiness as she was told she could. She smiled as Sherrie told Amelia not to stick her bottom lip out or else... her mum had used to do that. She would 'twang' the lip. Ivy smiled at the memory, then remembered it would never happen again with a short burst of sadness.
Amelia and her mother seemed to get on so well together, despite their jokes.
Ivy wasn't quite sure what to say to Amelia's comment about her mother. She didn't want to appear rude, yet she didn't want Amelia to think her a complete washover. So she laughed, but only slightly. What should she say now, she wondered. Once again, she left the initiative to Amelia.

Amelia nudged Ivy slightly.
"You don't need to seem so nervous!" Amelia smiled reasuringly to Ivy. She seemed so worried that Amelia or her mother wouldn't accept her.
Sherrie stood and ushered for Amelia and Ivy to come. Amelia smiled at Ivy happily and followed her mother out into Diagon Alley. The sounds of people shopping and the chatter of other students made Amelia smile and feel at home. She looked around at all the stores and immidiatly nodded toward the Quidditch store.
"Mummy please! You know I love Quidditch!" Amelia pleaded. Her mother sighed.
"Why do you want to go in?" she asked, "When you get to school you'll be able to play as many times as you want!" Amelia sighed.
"So!" her mother's eyes flashed as she looked at Amelia. Amelia sighed again and walked beside her mother.

Ivy watched as a dialogue played itself out between Amelia and her mother. She was pleased with the outcome and her mood brightened as they strolled towards the Quidditch store.
"I like Quidditch," Ivy piped up, overcoming her shyness for one rare moment. "I mean, not that I'm much good or anything but I do like it."
She hadn't had the chance to fly much at all over the summer. She couldn't exactly have her neighbours see her up in the air on a broom. She already had enough they had to conceal from the social services for her, without giving them more incentive to object.
She wondered what Amelia's favourite team was. She was always backward in coming forward with hers, since she didn't want her friendships to be broken up by silly Quidditch team rivalries.
Ivy raised her head and looked towards Amelia, whose blonde hair was being whipped up a little by the breeze.

Amelia smiled at Ivy.
"I love Quidditch! It is the funnest game of all! Acually, it's rather ironic... i love the team that is worst at playing!" she smiled then, "The Chuddly Cannons make me laugh. You know that their motto went from We Shall Conquer to Let's Just Cross Our Fingers and Hope For The Best!" Amelia smiled again and lightly touched a Firebolt. She sighed and looked at the Comet 260s.
"I wish I had a better broom!" she sighed and looked at Ivy.
"What's your favorite team?"

Ivy listened as Amelia told her some Quidditch trivia. She'd never really got quite into the Quidditch in her first two years. It wasn't as if she was all that athletic. But she did like it and for her birthday this year her dad had bought her a Nimbus 2001. Ivy had been overwhelmed on receiving it - she had never imagined she would ever have her own broom, let alone one that good. Now she just needed to do some flying on it.
Ivy let out a light sigh, answering Amelia's question about her favourite Quidditch team. "I like the Tornados," Ivy said. "But I don't know all that much about Quidditch, except that I like it. I guess I should but I dunno... it's just difficult when you're living in a totally Muggle neighbourhood."
Ivy started to blush slightly. She hated it when she did this. She went all hot and slightly trembly but se never knew quite how mmuch it showed. It never showed when she was hot, so maybe it didn't show quite as much when she was embarassed. But Ivy would never really know, since when she was embarassed she was in a position to look at herself in a mirror.
Ivy didn't even know why she was embarassed this time. She'd just been rambling on about nothing, she supposed, but still that was no reason to turn red. She felt a twinge of annoyance at herself and looked away from Amelia in an attempt to hide her embarassment.

Amelia looked at Ivy and saw how embarrased she was. She put a hand on her hip and sighed in obvious mock anger.
"Ok, why so embarrased!" she asked Ivy, "Are you that nervous around me?"

((You posted as your other character right, but it's still Amelia?))
Ivy really didn't know what to say to Amelia's question. It had made her feel really rather uncomfortable. Amelia's loud personality was just so different from that of Ivy the introvert.
Ivy looked down at the cobbles, muttering, "No, it's not that."
She just wanted to melt away at this moment because she could feel Amelia's eyes boring into her. She didn't know if Amelia realised she did that but it certainly made her feel uncomfortable and even more embarassed.

((OMG I'M SORRY! i didn't mean to do that!))
Amelia noticed that she was making Ivy more nervouse and decided to play it cool from now one. Let Ivy get more comfortavble around her. She suddenly felt stupid and awkward. She gulped.
"So yeah, what do you have to get?" Amelai asked looking around, trying to let Ivy know that she didn;t mean to make her uncomfortable or embarrassed. Amelia wanted to hit herself in the head for how stupid she was acting. She was 13 not 2! she mentally swore to herself that she wasn't going to be so childish anymore.

Ivy looked up, the flush disappearing from her face fairly quickly now the pressure had been taken off her.
"Oh, um... I have to go to Flourish and Blotts for my school books... and I still need my... Potions supplies. I think that's pretty much it. You?" Ivy countered.

"Just books and...," Amelai pondered her answer for a moment, "Um... i think thats it... my mom already got some stuff for me... so yeah!" she smiled. Sherrie started forward, putting a hand on Amelia's back. Amelia smiled up at her mother. She felt so lucky to have such a loving a caring mom.
"So Evee, dear," Sherrie said, Amelia rolled her eyes, "Do you have any hobbies? Maybe you and Amelia like some of the same stuff!" Amelia smiled at Ivy, knowing the girl must feel so embarrased right now... Great more pressure for her Amelia thought.

Ivy couldn't help smiling as Amelia's mum completely mispronounced her name. It didn't happen to her often, as most people could remember the name of a plant. At first she tried to look down to hide her smile, but then she just looked up at Amelia since her attempts at hiding it would have been fruitless. She just hoped Amelia's mother wouldn't think her rude.
"Um..." she started, trying not to mumble as her mother had always complained she did. "Well... I like reading, and horse riding, and embroidery... and I like Quidditch." she said, looking up and smiling politely. She wasn't sure exactly what Amelia was into, but she did hope they would become good friends.

Amelia eyes widened in surprised happiness!
"I LOVE Quidditch!" Amelia then smiled, realizing how hyper she must seem!
"Sorry, i'm usually not so hypergenic... i think i had too much sugar this morning," Amelia shrugged, "Or I could be excited for being a chaser on the Quidditch team for the first time in my life!" she smiled largely.

Ivy smiled at Amelia's outburst.
"You're a Chaser on the Quidditch team?" she asked, smiling. "Wow. I'd love to be, but I don't think I'm good enough."
Ivy looked down, quietly thinking about her chances of getting on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. They seemed pretty slim, considering that she was so young and there must surely be older contenders. Then she looked up again, expecting a reply from Amelia.

Amelia read right into Ivy's eyes.
"You have a HUGE chance! I thought i sucked... but I made the team,"she shrugged with a large smile.

Ivy smiled quietly.
"I don't know... I'd be afraid of letting the team down. I might try though."
Ivy smiled brightly at Amelia.
"You like reading?" she asked, in an attempt to give the conversation some fresh flair.

Amelia nodded
"Yeah I read, not alot, I usually dance instead of reading though." She smiled, "What's your favorite book? Mine is a series called The Belgaraid and the Malorian. It's a 12 book series the Belgaraid is the first five books, and the Malorian is the next five, while the last two are called Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress. I am trying to finish Polgara though..."

Ivy looked at Amelia, smiling.
"Well, I dunno really. There's such a lot of them..." Ivy harrumphed. "Um... I like The Dark is Rising series and the Wind on Fire trilogy. There's loads more too." Ivy smiled weakly, thinking. "The series you like sounds very long. I've never come across it before. Who's the author?"
Ivy knew she must sound like a boring bookworm, and made a note to try to think of something more interesting to say next time.

Amelia smiled slightly and tilted her head, trying to remember.
"hmm. Let me think," her blue eyes brightned and she smiled beamingly.
"David Eddings," she said, "I've never heard of those books before," she said shrugging.
