Kadan walked slowly down a crowded London street. He didn't bother looking up as he almost knocked over an elderly lady who was carrying a few large boxes. "Sorry miss, I didn't see you," he apologized, and with his hands in his pockets just kept walking. The lady frowned at him but then kept on her way as she saw that it probably was an accident and that Kadan did have a rather depressing look on his face. The sun was blazing overhead, and it was a rather pleasant day. That is, it seemed as though it was a nice day for everybody but Kadan. His mind was anywhere but in London on this nice day. He knew that another school year at Hogwarts was just around the corner, and this thought made him sick. Normally he would be so anxious to go back to Hogwarts, but not this year. Not now, when everybody he had been friends with before hated him now. How could they, he thought to himself. They didn't even give me a chance to defend her or believe anything I said. Kadan thought about how his friends had all deserted him once they heard the story that his mother was in fact a follower of Lord Voldemort and may have even been a death Eater. She can't be a follower of Lord Voldemort, he thought. She's dead! Or at least this is what Kadan had been told by his father. Even if she was a follower of Lord Voldemort, why do they have to hate me for it. Kadan plopped down on a bench and buried his head in his hands. Oh how he wished for a friend. Somebody who would just accept him for who he was and not for who his mother was or may have been.

Mandi was walking slowly down the streets of London. She loved the scenery and was fascinated in the architecture of the buildings. She passed a woman with several large boxes and she stopped. "Can I help you ma'am?" Mandi asked graciously. "Oh no dear, I can manage," the woman replied with a smile. "Have a nice day," Mandi responded. She loved helping people when she could.
The sky was rather cheerful but the distant clouds promised showers later that afternoon. Mandi hoped it would rain before she had to go back home. She loved the rain. Mainly she loved dancing in the rain. It was quite an exhilarating feeling to have the water soak your hair, face, and clothing while you were twirling around with someone. It was very soothing to the soul.
Mandi continued down the street and stopped when she spotted a boy sitting on a bench with his hands covering his face. He looked throughly depressed and Mandi felt her soul cry out. She didn't like to see people upset. She had made it a goal in her life to help people and so she approached the boy. He seemed younger than her by a couple years, but it didn't matter to her. "Hi, do you mind if I sit?" Mandi asked as she looked down at the boy. She didn't want to bother him if he didn't want someone around.

Kadans mind was still racing, thinking about how horrible it was going to be to return to Hogwarts where he had nobody. At least he had his father here in London. Just then a girl walked over beside him. She seemed very cheerful and happy to be outside on such a beautiful day. "Hi," said Kadan in a soft voice. "Sure, have a seat," he said in a very unenthusiastic tone. "I'm Kadan Mong. Do I know you?"

The boy looked up and Mandi recognized him from Hogwarts. He introduced himself as Kadan Mong. She quickly sat down next to him before she spoke. He looked unhappy and Mandi wondered what could be so serious that the beautiful day couldn't bring a little cheerfulness.
"You attend Hogwarts. My name is Mandi Aspden, I'm in Gryffindor," Mandi smiled as she held out her hand. She wasn't sure if he'd shake it but figured she'd give it a try. "Mind if I ask you a question? It's really none of my business, but why do you look so depressed?" Mandi asked as her smile faded. She hoped she wasn't being pushy, but he looked like he needed a friend and Mandi didn't mind accepting the job.

Terra smiled at the sun as it came through her bedroom window. The curtains were able to hide what the window could not alone, but when the sun came through, the curtains had little effect to block that out. Terra yawned loudly, catching her brother, James', attention. "Gosh, you sound like a lion Terra!" he said with a teasing glint in his eye. Terra rolled her eyes at him, placing her elbows on the window sill so she could rest her head on her hand. What she was doing, she really was sure. Just staring, wondering what the day could hold and what will unravel in the beautiful sunshine. James, the trouble-maker and loud-mouth, left the room quickly, not caring much to share Terra's rueful silence. She shook her head and felt like laughing but held it in. James could be so arrogant sometimes. She felt a smirk lift her lips, but it vanished as soon as it came. No, she would not be like this. Terra rubbed her eyes wearily, still trying to let go of all sleepiness. Ireland was a beautiful place, full of wonderful people with caring personalities. The Carlson family was one of those people. It made Terra proud to have the trust of all her neighbors, but sometimes it felt like a burden. Shaking that intriguing thought from her head, she stood up and crossed the room. The door seemed to open on it's on. Terra soon found out the reason for this as Steven and Bobby bounded into the room, holding a bat and glove each. "Hey, sis, we have a game this afternoon! You gonna watch?" Bobby exclaimed, nodding excitedly. Steven and Bobby were the same age, fifteen, but still could act very boyish. This brought a grin to Terra's lips as she watched the two together. Baseball was everything to them.
"No, sorry guys. I was going to go shopping' for school supplies. Is that alright?" Bobby and Steven's faces looked rather downcast but they nodded none the less. Terra felt an emptiness fill her stomach as she watched the two leave. She was going to do shopping, but not because she needed things.... It felt like she was awfully cut off from the magical world here at home. No one to talk to about what an exciting year they had and what they were going to do the next year. No friends to talk to about what their grades were. No one to relate to. Except for Terra's mother, who was a pureblood, but she was too old to care or listen. She was forty-two, but that was quite young for having seven boys and one girl. One witch and the rest muggles. Terra sighed heavily as she walked down the stairs only to find the kitchen empty. Not caring where her huge family had gotten to, Terra grabbed a few apples that were on the table and headed out the door.
The train seemed to be going slower than usual today. Bobby and Steven's faces kept on shimmering in her mind as Terra rested her feet on the chair in front of her. The train was totally deserted except for her and three others who she had no intention talking to. No, Terra didn't like talking to people she didn't know. She was a rather shy girl, but when it came to being a friend she was excitable and happy. Her pale features seemed to match to brilliant sunlight that was blinding her every time she looked up. The thing that caught most people's stares, however, was Terra's flaming red hair. It was long and smooth and shiny. The sun probably helped the latter. She absentmindedly ran her fingers through her red hair, staring out the window determinedly. When the train finally stopped at London, Terra was one of the first to get out. She hated the train and it was always stuffy and usually full of people. Terra frowned as she walked down the busy streets of London, wondering exactly what she was going to do today. She was going to go to Diagon Alley, but just a few blocks away from the Leaky Cauldron, her deep brown eyes rested on a boy and a girl. The boy looked younger than her and the girl older. Terra, gathering up as much courage as she could, walked over to the two with a grin on her face.
"Heya!" Terra said happily, pushing out all of her people-fears from her mind. She hoped the didn't notice that she was scared of them, but she was doing her best to hide it. "I'm Terra, Terra Carlson. Mind if I take a seat?"

Not really wanting to bring up the whole issue of Hogwarts, Kadan was somewhat relieved when another girl approached and asked to join them. "I think we have room for one more," he replied, and moved over to make room for the new girl. Although he thought it was a kind gesture of Mandi to notice and be concerned about his depressed mood, Kadan hoped that he could just change the subject because he really didn't feel like becoming even more depressed. Maybe I'm just being too negative, he thought to himself. These girls seem nice. Maybe I should try to make the best of this day. "I'm Kadan," he responded with a smile.

" La la la la, im not listning!!!" cried Flo with her hand to her ears. Yet again, her brother, Tim had been following her around ever since they got back from Australia. "You'd think he would give up by now." Flo said to her friend, Amy. they both knew , that even though he had a girlfriend, he still had a crush on Amy. "i know its pathetic." Said Amy, accedently hitting Flo in the arm."oops!"Amy gigged "sorry!!" Flo shrugged. "its alright"
They both sat down on an empty bench, across from another bench and a boy and two girls, were sitting in. She knew the boy. His name was Kadan. She'd met him on the Hogwarts Express. She was pretty sure she knew the two girls to. wow its a small world, Flo thought. "so you still going back to that stupid boarding school after the summer?" amy said, watching a leaf moving with the little wind that London had provided. " Amy! its not stupid. Its better than that school you go to." Flo cried. "Well whatever. I gotta go. See ya!!" amy walked off.
Flo thought she would go and say hi to Kadan across from her. She walked up with a smile. "hey remeber me? Flo?" hoping that Kadan would remember.

Mandi bit her bottom lip as she realized that Kadan didn't to talk about Hogwarts. Something was wrong and it had to do with Hogwarts.
Mandi shrugged it off as a girl came up to her and Kadan. She seemed to be somewhat frightened of them, though Mandi realized it was just the fact that she probably didn't like to talk to strangers. She was perplexed by the girl's reason for talking with them if she didn't like to talk to people, but the perplexity of the situation quickly turned to excitement. "Hi Terra, I'm Mandi," she smiled as she held out her hand to the girl. She seemed like a nice girl and Mandi was always in the mood to be kind.
It wasn't long after this that another girl approached whom Mandi knew as Flo. She had talked with her in Hogsmeade not too long ago. "Hi, Flo!" Mandi smiled as she approached. It was odd to think how small the world really was. Three Hogwarts students and then Terra, whom she didn't know at all.

Pleased that he would not have to talk about Hogwarts anymore for the moment, Kadan recognized the girl who just arrived. They had met on the Hogwarts Express at the end of the last school year. "Hey Flo! Great to see you," he exclaimed. "This is Terra," he pointed to the quiet girl sitting on the bench with him. He leaned over and whispered into Flo's ear, "I don't know if she is a muggle or not." Kadan seemed pleased that he was no longer alone. "Well, why don't we all do something," he suggested casually. "Any suggestions?"

"Nice to meet you two." Terra replied genuinely with a grin. She sat down next to Kadan, trying to ignore the heat the sun was giving off. She put a small smile on her lips and looked down at her hands to busy herself. She moved her eyes upward to see another girl join them. Terra gave her another grin, feeling like her muscles around her mouth were going to pop from such use. "Hey Flo," she said. She had no idea who this girl was, but she seemed to be called Flo among the others and she seemed friendly enough. Terra shifted in her seat and let her smile fade slowly. She looked back down until she heard something being whispered about muggles. Terra looked up quickly, thinking a muggle had joined them, but say none. Instead, her eyes found Kadan. He was the one who had spoken muggle in a whisper and Terra got the sneaking feeling he was talking about her. Her posture instantly became straighter and she couldn't help but feel anger rise inside of her chest. When he asked where they should go, Terra pipped up at once.
"How about Diagon Alley?" she asked rather bluntly causing a few stares among the muggles. It didn't matter though, in Terra opinion, because they wouldn't know what she was saying. She smiled at the few who did pause and stare at her before turning her gaze to the others, defiance set across her face. "Or, we could go to Club Mineral or something." she suggested hastily, wondering what their reactions would be to the Diagon Alley suggestion.

Mandi smiled at Flo as she entered the group. Kadan whispered something about Terra being a muggle. Mandi shrugged she didn't mind if Terra was or not. She seemed to lack self-confidence and Mandi wanted to help the girl out with some of that. Besides there was only one way to help someone out like that get them to talk. Mandi smiled at her revelation and was just about to ask her a question when Kadan asked what they should do. Terra was the first to reply and her answer shocked Mandi into laughter. 'Diagon Alley!' Terra replied. Mandi laughed hard as she realized Terra must have overheard Kadan call her a muggle. "I think you've been caught Kadan!" Mandi said as she continued to laugh. Terra was definitely going to be fun to hang out with. The girl might seem shy but that was perfect timing.
Mandi's laughter finally died as she regained her composure. "I don't mind Club Mineral. I'm not in a shopping mood, so I don't feel like going to Diagon Alley," Mandi smiled. She looked at the other three. She had been laughing so hard she hadn't seen Flo and Kadan's reaction to Terra's comment. It seemed to have gone over well enough. Mandi smiled as she began to sing a muggle song her mom had taught her, "It's a small world after all. It's a small world after all!" Mandi looked at the others still smiling with bits of laughter every now and then. She was having a good day, like usual, and she was getting a kick out of the company she had. She wondered if they'd all hang out at Hogwarts when school started up again. She shrugged as she brought herself back to the present. She listened to what the others were saying.

Kadans cheeks turned a bright shade of red. He hadn't realized he was overheard whispering to Flo. "S-Sorry," he stammered. "Terra I didn't mean to offend you by calling you a muggle. I just didn't think it to be wise to go babbling on about magic as I wasn't sure you were a muggle or not. I hope you don't take any offense to that. On the other hand," he quickly added, "I've never been to Club Mineral, and what better time than with the company of three lovely ladies." Kadan smiled, hoping he had not made a total fool of himself.

Flo laughed at Mandi's song. Flo had heard that song before and sung it in a concert with her friends. well what was left of her friends. Flo had a sinking suspicion that she and her friend were growing apart, because they all went to one school together and Flo goes to Hogwarts. she didn't like that idea. she loved having muggle friends. "i haven't been to Club Mineral either, so we could go there. might be fun!!" Flo had been to other clubs with her muggle friends, but not lately. "come on, lets go!" Flo got up and looked at the others. "where is it?" Flo asked Terra.

Waiting for Terra's response, Kadan looked at Flo. He was glad to see her again. They hadn't talked since their first encounter on the Hogwarts Express. Truly, Flo was his only real friend now at Hogwarts. It was hard to beleive that just moments ago Kadan felt so depressed and lonely. Now, he was as jubilant as ever, ready to have a great time and make new friends, while getting to know more about old friends.

waiting for a responce from Terra, Flo fiddled with the chain on her jeans. it was nice that Kadan and her met up again, like they said they would on the Hogwarts Express. Flo liked Kadan. he was really nice. Just then a small dog ran up to Flo and started to bark at her. Flo hated dogs. she got bitten when she was little. "oh h-hello little puppy, umm can we go now." Flo asked the others. she knew the puppy knew she was a witch, she just knew it.

Terra giggled rather sheepishly as Mandi busted out laughing at her reply. Terra thought it rather funny herself now that she stopped to think about it. Her laughter ceased when she saw that Kadan's face was rather red. She knew how it felt to be totally embarrassed in front of people. She was just glad it wasn't her. "Ah, it's alright Kadan! I'm just not used to being called a muggle, I suppose." she replied calmly, keeping her eyes on the group. It felt odd that she had been shy in the first place, for this was a really nice group of people. Terra put a fresh grin on her face that was truly genuine before thinking over Kadan's question. She really hadn't been to Club Mineral for a good three years. All she knew is it was a place with lots of food, loud music and many drinks. She wasn't sure if the group knew exactly what Club Mineral was, but she decided to just let them find out on their own once they arrived.
"Club Mineral is in the heart of London, I believe. Just a few blocks down from here." she pointed down the busy street to a two story building that was a a bright shade of blue that made it stand out. Terra stood up and motioned the others to follow. "Shall we get going?" she said as she waited for the others to stand.

"Abosolutly" said Flo, still being barked at by the little dog. "How long does it take to get there?" She asked shooing the dog away. It left imedetly, wimpering as if Flo had kick it. Dumb dog, Flo thought scratching her arm, what did I ever do to it? I really hate dogs. Why do they have to know everything? I’m so sure that little mutt knew I was a witch, just like Holly’s dog did, dumb Bessie, dumb dog. Flo kicked a stone, waiting for the others to stand up. Jump up and bite me on the hand. Needed three stitches for that. Flo looked at her right hand, where a few years ago, Flo’s friend’s dog, Bessie, bit her on the hand, making the skin tear open. It probably knew I hate hospitals too, she thought. Ick, smells funny and sick people everywhere. Nope, don’t like it, not one bit.

Happy to hear that Terra didn't take any offense to his labeling of her as a muggle, Kadan watched as Flo attempted to get rid of a pestering dog. It was true that Kadan hadn't been to Club Mineral, or any club for that matter, so his excitement was hard to cover. Without allowing time for more chit-chat, Kadan started walking towards the club. He turned around and looked at the girls. "Well, you ladies coming or not," he said with a grin. "Last one there's a blast-ended skrewt!"

Flo put her hands on hips and smirked. "yeah well first one there has to eat it. You coming you two?"Flo asked Terra and Mandi. "You've got to see Kadan loose when we get there!!" Laughing Flo started to run to avoid Kadan from hitting her. Hopefuly he wouldn't.
