Faith closed the book with a slight sigh. It must have been the hundreth that she'd looked at in the space of that hour. This particular one was large and old, the pages were slightly frayed around the edges and yellowing fast and, as Faith shut it, the accumlative dust from a few months of neglect, shot up into the air.
She sneezed and grumbled, then pushed the book aside and glanced down at the work she was supposed to be finishing. It was a History Of Magic assignment; three and a half rolls of parchment on Giant Wars in the 1800's. So far, Faith had managed two and a bit rolls, but was at somewhat of a loss as what to write next.
She glanced around the library. It was pretty much silent except for the usual turning of pages and odd coughs from students using it. Madame Pince didn't seem to be around so Faith couldn't help wonder why it was all so quiet.
However, she went back to her work, (or, really, went back to staring blankly at the pages of books and sucking on the end of her quill absent-mindedly) until a shadow crossed her table and she looked up.
((Alright start? Sorry - I'm a bit out of it at the moment))

3 rolls of parchment of Giant Wars, thought Cass in disgust. Well, honestly, she had already finished it. She was quite good in history. It really was her best subject, and she enjoyed every moment of it. However, she hated writing papers, and this one wasn't any better. She was heading to the library to check some dates and facts. She always had to make sure.
She walked into the library as Faith began to cough over some dust that flew out of a book. " Alright, Faith?" Cass sat down next to her. She laid out the parchment so she could actually see what she had written. " Oh, I was going after that book." She grabbed one of the thick volumes that laid before her.
" So, how is your paper going?"

Faith smiled as Cass sat down. A friendly face was just what she needed.
"Beyond terrible," Faith sighed, with a long-suffering grin, "I've got about one and a quarter rolls of parchment left to write and no idea what to write it on. I've got a mind like a seive when it come's to this stuff."
She glanced at Cass's work and opened her mouth in amazement.
"Wow!" She said, laughing, "Finished already!"
Faith took up her quill again and smoothed out her parchment, then looked at Cass in what she hoped was a sincere and appealing way.
"If you could help me a teensy bit then I will be forever in your debt," She told her, "Or, failing that, you could help me understand what the heck these books are on about. Is it me or is all this just a bunch of wierd names and numbers?"

Cass grinned at the girl. " Well, to tell you the truth, it is all about a bunch of wierd names and numbers. But, the truth is, all you really need to do is correspond the wierd name to the number. See here, Urg the Unfortunate was put in front of the Allthing in 1836. Now, the Allthing was the legislative body they used to discuss all their disputes. Unfortunately for Urg, he had stolen something from his neighbor that was punishable by death." She grabbed another book she had used in her paper about Troll names. " Also another big hint about what happened can be found out about by looking at their names. Cullo the Conqueror obviously conquered something, and he did. In 1821 he conquered Ligo the Homeless's land. And that is why he became Ligo the Homeless. Make sense?" (( Sorry if I went to in-depth. Most of the Troll history in the books is based of old Scandaniavian history, so I went with that. I'm a history major and this is actually one of the subjects I focus on. Well, Scandanavian history, not Troll history. ))

"Well done. You have succesfully penetrated my immensley thick skull," Faith said, laughing as she scribbled down the list of names mentioned onto a spare bit of parchment, "I've got the bit about the Allthing down here somewhere I think," She shuffled through the sheets of parchment and found the right paragraph, "Yup, right there, but I still need something to fill the rest of the essay in. If I make my writing big I could probably get away with only writing one roll's worth of information."
She opened another book and instinctivley de-creased the parchment with her hand.
"Maybe I could put something in about the effects the wars had on the Giant Population of today," Faith mused, her brown eyes scanning the page, "Hopefully, it'll just look like I'm doing extra work instead of just covering for loss of it. Failing that, there's always the faithful excuse of 'I lost the rest' ."
"Highly believable in my case," She added with a grin.

Cass giggled a bit too loudly for the library and heard a loud shushing.
" You are far from a thick skull. It took me a while to get the hang of it as well. I mean, really, they all have the same one syllable names. You know like, Urg, Purg, Murd. There all about the same."
She looked at one of the volumes at noticed she had a date wrong. She quickly corrected it.
" You know, when they thought up there names, you could tell they weren't thinking of poor Hogwarts' students who would have to study this rubbish later."

"Lights go down It's dark The jungle is your head Can't rule your heart I'm feeling so much stronger Than I thought Your eyes are wide And though your soul it can't be bought your mind can wander
Hello, Hello Hola! I'm at a place called vertigo It's everything I wish I didn't know Except you give me something I can feel Feel." The music blasted through Jordan's ears, The sweet melody of U2 surrounding her and lifting her up into a time and place that let her be herself. She swung her head, causing her hair to hit her face and get in her mouth. Her birthday had been great! It was good for her to get out and visit her mum, Katie, and Tuck. She had missed Ireland and she had missed her family. Though she hadn't missed those damned dogs. She laughed at the memory and entered the library, tipping her beret towards Madame Pince who was rather angry with the music that was heard.
Turning down the volume only slightly, Jordan opened her eyes long enough to spot Faith and Cass sitting at a table having a conversation. Faith and Jordan had met in the Courtyard, and Cass and Jordan had played an interesting round of truth in the hospital wing after the Quidditch game last week, Jordan was glad to see her arm was completely healed. As Jordan continued to make her way over to the two girls, she pulled up a chair, and turned it around, sitting on it backwards. She pulled off her headphones, cocked her head to the side, and smiled in greeting, "'Ello!"

Cass was a little surprised when Jordan plopped down in front of her and Faith. She was taken with what was going on in front of the dusty volumes in front of her, and explaining the details and complexities of Troll Wars that she was totally oblivious to anything outside of the books.
She exlaimed in surprise when Jordan sat down, and she heard another loud shushing from behind. " Goodness, you scared me. I was just explaining Troll Wars to Faith for History of Magic. We had three rolls of parchment for it. It's terrible. Back home, I could type ten pages out in no time, but writing three rolls of parchment. Can be too much for me to handle sometimes."

Faith smiled warmly at Jordan as she sat down, laughing behind her hand as Cass shouted in suprise. "Plays havoc with your wrist," Faith agreed, as Cass stopped talking. She massaged her own, with her left hand. An hour of solid writing and handling of heavy books was not working wonders for her joints, it seemed. "Don't suppose you've done it have you?" She asked Jordan. She glanced over the books, shifting a few to see their titles. "One of these has got to have something about Giants today in it, right? Do you reckon there's anything in this library that's less than a century old?" ((By the by, thought I'd add, nice choice of music Jordan! U2 rock! ;D)) ((Also, 100 posts! Go me! ))

Caiest sauntered into the library. For once in her life she had actually decided to go to class. More acurately her parents had owled her saying that if she didn't go to class today that she'd be grounded. Not that that would be a bad thing she spent most of her time in her room anyway. Plus her parents were never home so they'd never know if she didn't keep to their punishment. Never the less she decided to humor them and let them keep the idea that they still had some control over her.
Luckily for Caiest it was History of Magic that she had to attend. Caiest loved history and she had tons and tons of books on all sorts of magical history. Unfortunately for her however the one book she hadn't read on troll history was in the library.
Caiest looked all through the shelves of the library on troll history trying to find the book she needed. That's when she noticed that a group of girls nearby had the book she needed. 'great' she thought walking over to the girls. "Excuse me but are you guys through with that book?" She asked pointing to a book on the table.

Cass looked up at the voice. Uhoh, she thought to herself, its the wierd girl.
" No, your more than welcome to it. Are you studying for Binns class? Would you like to join us?"

Faith saw a look of slight appreshension flash across Cass's face as the girl asked for the book, but Faith dismissed it, and smiled at the girl as friendlely as she could. ((Is there even a word for that? Either way I'm pretty sure friendlely isn't it )) "Yeah, you're welcome to join us," Faith said, nodding, "Pull up a chair if you want, four heads are better than three."

Cass, even though wierded out about the girl, attempted to be friendly. " We're working on the paper for History of Magic. Have any epiphanies?"

"Yeah I did it, why write? Just charm your quill to write down everything you say...it's easier." Jordan replied with an extravagant smile. Just then there were joined by another girl, who Jordan nodded curtly to, and leaned forward against the back of the chair. She flicked a curl out of her brown eyes that were shadowed lightly with misty grey. Jordan had lately been finding herself starting to wear more make up and dress more revealing. Not too revealing, but enough to let others know she wasn't a kid anymore. She didn't want to be cute, she wanted to be hott, or at least pretty. Cute was something for 10 and 12 year olds. Not her.
"Hey, it's Caiest right? I'm Jordan, Jordan Cortes. As Faith said, pull up a chair, four heads are better than three...though I must admit, my head probably counts for nothing. Oi, HoM, horrible class. I can't get through it, but I always enjoyed doing the homework. I was just telling these blokes here," She sent Cass and Faith an inocent smile that said she was joking, "that if you are so sick of writing with a quill, then just charm it to do all the writing and speak to it. It's quite simple." She nodded again, chewing on her gum with leisure.

"Blokes eh?" Faith said with an amused smile, "Well my good man, I must say that your charmed quill idea is quite a useful one."
She laughed.
"There's a slight problem though, one that involves the fact that I speak complete and utter nonsense. I think I'll have to stick with the manual approach, my words only seem to make sense on paper if I write them down. That way I can actually think about what I'm going to say. Nice idea though," She added, with a smile, so as not to offend.

Caiest noticed that the girl Cassandra the one she'd met in the classroom recognized her and she also noticed that she seemed to regard her with a slight unease. The others didn't seem to be bothered by her. In fact one even knew her name and that surprised her as she wasn't the most social person in the world.
She smiled politely as they invited her to sit with them. Normally she would've politely declined but seeing as she had nothing better to do she accepted. "Thank you for inviting me to sit with you." She said taking an empty seat and pulling out her history of magic paper which was four rolls.
"No epiphanies but I do have all this though I'm not completely sure it's all right."

Jordan stuck her tongue out at Faith, "Is that what that word means? I wouldn't know, I'm not British. I'm very much Spanish thank you! I just like the sound of it; bloke...blo-oke." She replied with a small giggle. When Caiest accepted the offer to join, Jordan smiled a warm smile and her eyes nearly popped out of her head as the girl brought out her HoM essay.
"Ye gods! Four rolls?! Honestly! You must be a Ravenclaw! I got nearly 2 rolls!" She exclaimed with awe, her right eyebrow raised in a structured manner.

(( You really need to quit quoting PHantom, Jordan. Someone might actually think you enjoyed the play. ;D Then you would be a opera dork like me))
Cass looked down at Caieste's work. Wow, I'm impressed, she thought.
She turned to Jordan, " Spanish huh? I failed Spanish in school. Never could get the jist of it. I was good at German though. I don't know why I had such a hard time with it."

((Hehe, Phantom Of The Opera is a Musical , not an opera. But, yes, I am an opera dork already...so I just have to keep quoting it, until that is..Gerard Butler decides to marry me )) "Spanish? My heritage. It's my second language...I enjoy it greatly! I live in Ireland in the summer though, my mom moved there after she left my dad. I visit my dad as well, he lives in Spain. I like Spain better than Ireland, though. It's warmer." Jordan told Cass with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.

(( I actually got to see Phantom on Broadway. I sat second row center!))
Cass let that sink in. " That's really neat. I'm just plain English. Nothing exciting about my background. I've always wanted to go to Spain. I've never really gotten the change to go anywhere really. I did get to go to the U.S. That's where I picked up a liking for iced tea. Odd, isn't it?"
