Brooke looked at the clock in the Common Room, shrugged and then looked back up at it quickly. It was 15 minutes pass the beginning of DADA class! Should she risk losing house points for being late or stay there? Brooke bit her bottom lip and put away her things. She then slipped her shoes on and left the common room. Brooke headed towards the classroom and swung open the door. She froze in the doorway and then, confidently, walked to the back row and sat down. Not sure what would happen.
Her attention turned to the front of the room where an ill looking creature was on the board. She tilted her head at it and then shook her head from nightmarish thoughts.

Katie was just down the corridor to DADA class she was excited about the class because she heard so much about it from the other students. Katie entered the classroom and didn’t see any seats left but next to Brooke her fellow prankter partner. Katie than took a seat next to her and looked at the board at a creature. Katie than shivered she never seen a creature like that before. Katie tried to open her mouth but the bell rang and class started.
Parvati answered the question right and Katie smiled as a few points was awarded to Gryffindor. Than Katie looked at Brooke and smiled and tried to pay attention to the Professor because she knew nothing so far.

“Well done Miss McGrogan, ten points to Slytherin. El Chupacabras, suck the blood from their prey via one single fang; in most cases, though there have been sightings of those with two. The Alderglix, as we call it,” she emphasised the name, “Is very dangerous to wizards and muggles alike. Muggles see it and often get away unscathed, but there have been the unfortunate instances where there have been attacks. These are usually covered up and some fantastic story created for muggle benefits.”
Yelena was explaining more on the creature when the door to the class swung open and a Slytherin girl entered, followed by a young Gryffindor. Yelena watched the girl as she stood there, confident and then took a seat. “Miss Hasenstab, Miss Davenport, class started fifteen minutes ago. “Five points from Slytherin for your tardiness Miss Hasenstab, as a fifth year you should know better.” She then turned to the Gryffindor, “Five points also from Gryffindor for your lateness Miss Davenport. Next time be on time both of you.”
“Now, as I was saying. There is only one spell that can banish an Alderglix and that is “Oblivitum Destructus, this is done with a gently flick of the wrist. After you practice this, I will show you what this creatures looks like in the flesh.”

Katie turned beat red as she lost points for her house.
"I am so stupid I never should have looked at the clock at the libary" Katie thought in her mind.
She looked around and noticed half of the Gryffindors looking at her. She turned even redder.
She than paid her full attention to the Professor as she told them they will have to practice the spell and than see the creature.
Katie took out her wand and look at Brooke right next to her and gave her a mischeivous smile.

Amelia fought a glare at Katie, she didn't want her temper to over ride the fact that katie was a first year and she wasn't used to the many complicated corridors. She sighed and took out her wand. She glanced at Parvati and smiled.
She looked at the Professor before she attempted the spell. And she didn't even say it that loud, she made it barely a whisper.
"Oblivitum Destructus" and suddenly her wand tip flare blue and the light spread out into a beam but then vanished. She felt her heart beat slightly fast as she wodnered if that was sopposed to happen... she sighed with nerves and raised her hand, looked at Professor Nikolaeva with a worried expression on her face.

Yelena walked around the class as the students began practicing the spell. Without warning and barely a sound a beam of blue light shot across the room; Yelena smiled in approval. The light had come from the wand of a third year Gryffindor, Amelia Richardson. “Well done Miss Richardson. That students, is what your spell should look like, for the most part. If she had said it with a little more oomph and feeling, the light would have been a more vibrant blue. Ten points to Gryffindor.” She walked over to Amelia who looked a little nervous, “Very well done Miss Richardson,” she told her quietly and then spoke to the entire class, “Carry on.”

Katie than took her wand and noticed a light blue light from Amelia wand and smiled as she got ten points for her lose of five points.
She than concentrated on her trying to get the charm down. She picked up her wand and took a deep breathe before trying. "Oblivitum Destructus" Katie said with a flick of her wrist. Nothing happen Katie frowned and kept trying.
"Oblivitum Destructus" Katie said again with a flick of her wrist. Nothing still happened.
Katie was now very fustared and started over again. "Oblivitum Destructus" Katie said with more feeling. Than a flare blue light came out of her wand and than banished.
Katie smiled and tried again. "Oblivitum Destructus" she said once again and the flare blue light came out of her wand again and diapered.
After a while of trying over and over again to make sure she got it she was ready to face the creature.

Parvati nodded as the Professor intructed them to do a spell. She pulled out her wand, flicked her wrist and whispered.
"Oblivitum Destructus" Nothing happened. Maybe she had to say it louder. She flicked her wrist once more,
"Oblivitum Destructus" It admitted a blue light and she smiled as she realized it had worked.

Dawn nodded towards the professor when she said she gained points for her house. Dawn didnt mind much about points- Slytherin of course was never going to win the house cup, but she was glad to know she added at least something.
The professor said a spell that she wanted everyone to try, and that it was used to banish an Alderglix. Dawn flicked her wrist as she warmed it up. "Oblivitum Destructus." She said as her wand quickly sped out a light blue beam of light. The color quickly changed into a deeper shade of blue as Dawn saw she did the spell correctly. Lowering her wand, she waited for the class to go on.

Liam listened intently to everything the professor said about the creature they were studying. He was quite intrested in the creature that was on the board in front of him. He studied the picture on the board for a few moments, until a blue light shot across the room. He looked over to where the lgiht came from and saw that it was Amelia. He smiled at her before trying the spell himself.
With a gently flick of his wrist, Liam said, "Oblivitum Destructus." Just then, a blue light shot out of the end of his wand, hitting a wall on the other side of the room.

Defence Against the Dark Arts.
There was definitely something creepy about the name of the subject. It sounded so sinister somehow. So far Colin had not encountered the darker side of magic, and all his adventures in the magical world had only increased his love of exploring and adventure. Colin was still exploring the castle whenever he got the chance. The many staircases and hallways intrigued him very much. Up till now the young first year was finding his first month at Hogwarts very enjoyable.
Colin took a seat beside a third year he had spoken to on his first day at Hogwarts and soon the class was in full swing. Professor Nikolaeva's rules sounded reasonable to him, and he saw no reason not to abide by them. He did not think he would be answering that much questions anyway for he had next to no knowledge about magic or magical creatures.
Colin started in his seat when he saw the creature. It was a fearsome sight indeed for somebody who had never seen anything like it before. El Chupacabras was a terrifying monster, and Colin listened in horrified fascination as students told of the blood-curdling methods with which it killed its prey.
Soon it was time to work with their wands. Colin had his on his desk at the ready, and as always he was very excited as he held it before him. Some of the older students in his house had already showed him how the way you held your wand was very important in the performance of any spell, and Colin now tried to notice how his Professors held their wands whenever they tried a charm.
Colin attempted saying the incantation several times, but his attempts were fruitless. It didn’t look too difficult, why couldn’t he do it? He turned to ask for assistance from Amelia and then saw she had succeeded at producing the bright blue light out of the tip of her wand. He watched another third year's attempt end in success, then tried again. A faint light emanated from his wand tip and this was enough encouragement for Colin. Once again he said the incantation this time putting a little more energy and conviction into it. He was rewarded by a flash of electric blue light, and feeling that familiar thrill of happiness whenever he managed to learn a new charm Colin sat down, waiting for further instructions from Professor Nikolaeva.

Brooke sighed deeply as she continued to doodle across her scrap of parchment. She knew just about everything their was to know about el chupacabras.
"Got that spell down Katie?" she asked, only mildly interested. There had to be some kind of mischeif they could cook up in here.

Katie turned her head at Brooke and smiled.
"Yep looks like we need to do our first offical prank right now..." Katie said smiling slyly at her partner sitting next to her.
She took out of bag and got out her feather quill that squirted ink. She than turned her head at Brooke waiting to see who should have the first round.

"What did you have in mind?"

Post by Vincent Crabbe Jr. on Nov 23, 2004 19:09:54 GMT
Vincent had been sitting at the back of the class. He hadn't arrived particularly early, but he had certainly arrived on time.
Vincent listened in disinterest to the answers to the teacher's questions, although of course he payed attention to Dawn's. He took his wand out and twirled it round in his fingers as the teacher explained the spell.
Vincent tried twice before he decided there wasn't any point bothering any more. Some spells just weren't suited to him, and this obviously wasn't one of them. Besides, what use was a spell which didn't work on people?
But then Vincent looked around and saw that Dawn had completed her spell. He couldn't allow himself to look a dunce! He picked up his wand again, and after a few more tries, produced a satisfactory stream of light. Vincent returned to his torpor.

Katie turned her head at Brooke and smiled back.
"I was thinking about giving this feather to Crabbe or the Professor. It squirts ink when they touch it and look at it." Katie said smiling slyly.
"Who do you wont to give it too Brooke?" Katie said looking at her with her light green eyes.

Brooke smirked, "Well I personally have nothing against the professor, but seeing as Crabbe is a Slytherin I can't help but have something against him."
She drummed her fingers lightly on the desk.
"So, I would have to say . . . Crabbe."

Katie looked at Brooke and smiled she was still looking around for anyone else to prank.
"Do you have any more ideas for a prank Brooke or anyone else" Katie asked as she dipped her quill in the ink tray and wrote down some notes on her piece of paper that was in front of her.
She crossed her legs and looked up at Brooke and smiled seeing if she did have any other better ideas.

Brooke thought the proposition over for a moment. She did have an idea in mind, but she hadn't thought to bring her miniature broomstick with her.
"Mine would be better suited at another time. Let's do yours."

Elizabeth had come into class rather late and sat down beside her friend Katie. She didn't perticuarly like this class because of all the stories about how the job was cursed and such. Elizabeth saw that Katie and Brooke were having what looked like an intresting conversation. She leaned in closer to them and tried to hear what they were saying.
Elizabeth could only hear parts of it, but she knew it was a prank and it had to with a quill and Crabbe. She really wanted to be a part of it, but decided it was best to watch instead. She didn't want to mess it up.
Elizabeth couldn't wait to see what they were going to do and listened more closley still without attracting attention to her or her friends.
