Jack watched Mack, the smile off of his face. Did he say something? He was always saying something wrong with Mack. It made him upset whenever he saw Mack upset.
"You want to say something?" Jack asked quietly. Sometimes it helped if you could talk to someone, and Jack could be that someone Mack needed if she wanted to talk about whatever was troubling her.

Mack looked up at him and shook her head, "Nope. Just fine. Craving for some chocolate, but fine." She answered, smiling genuinely. Though her eyes could give her away. Her grey blue eyes clouded or became nearly white when she was upset or thinking. She wondered how dark of grey they were at the moment. Not that she had a mirror on her or something. Of course she counted on the reflection of Jack's eyes to see what color hers were. But it wasn't the right kind of light to see exactly. So she hoped Jack couldn't see her color either. Mack looked away, her feet scraping the ground again.

Jack watched with distress as Mack didn't talk about what was bothering her. Jack thought that he saw her eyes turn gray, but he wasn't sure. What did gray mean anyway? He sat there, puzzling over what to do.
Suddenly, Jack grabbed Mack's hand and gave it a tight squeeze. "You don't have to tell me if you want. I'm not going to make you. I just want you to know that I'm here if you need me." Jack said quietly, not letting go of Mack's hand.

She looked at Jack as he grabbed her hand, she listened to his words and nodded slowly, "How 'bout this? I'll tell you, when I understand what's going on in my mind. Deal?" Mack told him, squeezing his hand back.
"And I know, you're the only person I can really count on. Thanks." Mack smiled genuinly at him, and her eyes were probably back to blue-grey.

Jack grinned. "Deal," he said. He dropped Mack's hand and then looked out at the sky. He always did this when he was at loss for words. He didn't know what to say anymore. He just waited for Mack to say something.

She smiled and put her hands in her lap, wringing them together. She was thinking. Thinking hard. Thinking about a million things. And she hated when she thought too hard, but Jack deserved to know exactly what she was thinking. And he deserved to know exactly why some things he said made her mood go down a number or two on the scale of 1-10. And she knew she had to tell him, but how could she tell him when she wasn't even sure if...Mack sighed, her head starting to hurt mildly.
"You should-um-go see what's up with that Brooke, person. She likes you." She told him with a small smile. She stood up and grabbed her hair, which was all on one side of her head, and let it fall down her back. Her hair reached her mid-back, at the beginning of the year she had chopped it all off to her chin, then it just slowly grew back. Now it was back to its layers and fullness. Mack bit her bottom lip and walked away.

Jack knew that Mack was thinking hard. Maybe a little too hard. He waited and waited for her to finally say something, and when she did it was the oppisite of what he expected. He snorted at the part about Brooke liking him. "I noticed," he said, and he couldn't stop himself from putting an edge to his voice.
He watched as Mack walked away, his mind racing. Maybe he should go check on Brooke, maybe he had hurt her in some way. But, a voice said in Jack's head. He hadn't even started to get mean. He had just been agitated. He stood up, sighed, and walked down to where Brooke was standing.

Dix entered the courtyard in a brisk manner, going through her rolls of parchment looking for a certain essay. She wasn't aware that she was the only one alive, therefore she ran into someone on their way out of the courtyard. Her scrolls went flying everywhere, one even went as far as to roll downhill towards the grounds. Dix sighed angrily and looked at the person she had collided into. Her sister.
"Ah. Mack! Why don't you be a good person and watch where you are walking for once, eh?" Dix snapped nastily. She crossed her arms over her chest, and looked down at the scrolls of parchment. Then she glanced back up at her sister, then down to teh rolls again. Indicating she was expecting Mack to pick the rolls of parchment up. Dix began to tap her foot as Mack made her descision.

Mack was nearly out of the courtyard, tears brimming her eyes, when she ran into her worst nightmare. Dix. Rolls of parchment flew from her older sisters fingertips and rolled this way and that. One even went down towards the lake. Mack sighed and looked at her sister, who was already insulting her and expecting her to clean up after her mess. Mack crossed her arms firmly over her chest and glared at her sister, "Maybe if you payed attention to where you were walking then we wouldn't have this problem. What are you doing out here anyway? You hate the courtyard." Mack kicked at a stone, and it skipped across the cobblestone walk way. Mack sighed. And bent down to pick up the scrolls. She handed four to Dix then headed down to pick up the other one, upon reaching it, she picked it up and looked down at the lake. Jack and Brooke were talking. Mack sighed and walked back up, and handed the last oine to Dix.

Mack talked, like always, then gathered the scrolls. When she returned, Dix smiled cruelly and placed the rolls perfectly in order by color of ribbon which held them in a roll. She looked at her sister and tilted her head, pretending to pretend to be concerned. She was actually concerned, but she couldn't let Mack know that. She would never let Mack know that. Haven't we been over this before? Dix tapped her foot impatitently at the 14 year old and waited for her to say something, when she remembered Mack had said something. She asked what she was doing out in the courtyard, she hated the courtyard. Dix was slightly surprised that Mack knew that much about her, "Not that it's any of your business, Mutt, I was just walking down to the lake for a bit of fresh air. Do you honestly think I would stay around here where mudbloods could talk to me?" Dix shuddered at that thought and shifted the books and scrolls to her left arm.
"What are you doing here? And don't lie, I'll know if you lie to me. You know I don't like being lied to." Dix snapped, her brown eyes searching her sister for the answer before she spoke it. Mack wasn't the kind to hang out in the courtyard, alone, during the evening. Ever. Dix raised her left eyebrow, and waited even longer for her sisters answer.

Mutt. That nickname started when Dix had went to the mall. She heard some people calling this girl a mutt, and when Dix asked what mutt meant, it meant someone with different heritages. Different bloods... Mack thought. It was no different than mudblood. Though, Dix thought it much more suiting for someone of pureblood and disloyal beliefs. So she started using it on Mack. It stung the younger Holden every time she heard it, but she was slowly getting used to the horrible word. After Dix asked in return what Mack was doing out in the courtyard, she merely shrugged. Not really wanting to tell her sister that she was just in an argument with a Ravenclaw, and that she was thinking so hard about something that she didn't even want to think about. She didn't feel like sharing her social life problems with the number one problem in her life at all times. So the shrug happened, though Mack knew Dix wouldn't take that as an answer. So, upon feeling curtious, Mack decided to give her at least a respectable answer, "Fresh air as well, I have only been out here for about 20 minutes and I decided it was time for me to head inside, after all I don't like being out in the courtyard, alone, during the evening." She looked at Dix, hoping she would by the excuse.

((At the beginning of the post, Bee was in it, but she kind of left, so I'm just pretending that she left the courtyard and now she's back! )) Bee walked out of Hogwarts and into the courtyard. The breeze lifted her blonde hair, which she hastily put up in a bun to keep it out of her eyes. She walked over to a table and stopped to look around. No more Mack or Brooke or Scott or Jack in sight. She sighed in relief and moved on, looking for a seat that held a clear view of the lake. She was walking towards another door that lead into the school when she heard voices talking. She thought she knew the voice. It was Mack, wasn't it. Bee tip-toed closer so she could get a clear look at the people who were talking. It was Mack and some other older girl that Bee didn't know. An older Slytherin. Bee knew by experience that older Slyths were even more horrible than some of the younger ones. Bee and Mack, surprisingly, were now on friendly terms. Bee wasn't sure if she should join the conversation or not, since it was none of her business. She hovered at the spot, in plain eye-sight of the two Slytherins, which turned out to be a mistake.
