Seth sat cozily in the common room finishing up an owl that he had written to his father. In the owl, he had asked his father to pick up some more guitar picks and some more music for him to learn. He knew that his father loved when he shared his love for the guitar with him, for he was the one who taught Seth to play so well.
Getting up from the nice and warm chair he stood up and brushed the sweat off of his face. The fire he had been sitting next to, had gotten to him, he needed to get out of the building. Running quickly to his dormintory he put on his sweatshirt, gloves, and scarf, and headed back down to the common room. Leaving his things where he had left them in the common room, for he knew no one would bother them, he walked slow and steady out of the common room.
Reaching the side of the castle where the courtyard was he walked outside and quickly a frigid breeze flew past. Opening his eyes wider, as the wide sped up, he trudged through the snow, not even wondering once why he was out on such a cold day. He felt his cheeks become flushed and cold at once, as for his hair, he had forgotten his beanie, and was left with his curly mess of a hair in his face. Striding along to find a bench, he saw on in the distance and made his way towards it. Having difficulty, he picked his feet up one by one, and made it easily over to the bench.
Upon arrival at the bench, he pulled out his wand. Tapping his head he placed warming spells on himself, smiling at the satisfaction he sat back and watched as the wind slowly began to die down.

Dana pulled her cloak closer around her body and berated herself in her mind once again for leaving her hat back at school. Heating spells were great, but they only helped that much. Her grandparents were visiting from France, so Dana had been allowed to skip a day and spend the day with them, as they went back this evening again. And now Dana had to walk the long way back. And the long skirt, she wore – her grandparents were quite modern, but still believed that women were supposed to wear skirts. Pants were only allowed in special occasions, besides they had taken Dana out to the fanciest restaurant in Hogsmeade, where jeans wouldn’t have really fitted.
Dana yelped, as she slipped and fell, effectively breaking the zipper of one of her knee-length black heeled boots. “Zut,” Dana swore annoydly and looked around. She was already in the courtyard, but still she had to repair the boot, before entering the castle once again.
Dana limped to a bench, where some a bit older boy already sat and sat down next to him. “Hi, hope you don’t mind, but I have to repair my boot. You probably don’t have personal experience but wearing heels on this terrain and on snow is a killer for feet,” Dana said with a smile, reaching inside her cloak to pull out her wand. After reaching it, Dana pulled her skirt a little higher, so she could access her boot and pointing her wand to the boot muttered ‘”Reparo’.
“Much better,” Dana sighed, eyeing the repaired boot and tucking her wand back away again, before smiling at the boy, “I know it may sound nosy, but I’m curious. Why out with such weather? I’m Dana by the way.”

Lily woke up one cold morning to a very cold room. She looked outside and found that it was snowing. she hadn't often been allowed out to play in the snow as a child, because her father was scared to death that she would end up sick. After writing an owl to her Papa, she saw that her cat, Midnight, was awakening from the spot on the end of the bed. She made the bed, the ndressed in her warmest clothing. She was finally going to spend a bit of time in the snow.
Lily went into the courtyard and surveyed the excitement. Everywhere, people were having snowball fights and building snowmen. It wasn't long before she saw two Ravenclaws sitting at a bench. She decided to go over. "Hello. I'm Lily. I hope you don't mind my interrupting."

Seth sat staring gazingly around at the harsh winter weather that swept past. In the distance he saw a girl limping a bit towards him. Wondering what was up he kept up the stare until she had reached the bench. Sitting down, the girl said something about repairing her boot. Watching with his full attention on the boot, he watched as she fixed it with a simple spell. "Nicely done." he said complimenting her efforts on the repair.
"Your nosy?" he said as the girl asked trying not to be nosy, why he was out here. "I watched you limp all the way over here, I wanted to know what was going on with ya" he said chuckling a bit. Turning towards the girl he spoke, "Well, the fire in the common room was getting to me. I needed some cool air, but not this cold." He said noticing his warming spells were not working so well.
The girl introduced herself as Dana, and Seth smiled. "Rather pretty you are." he said trying to win the girls affection. "I've seen you around, your a Raven right?" he said trying to play dumb. "Oh, and I'm Seth Booker by the way." he said extending his hand for a handshake.
As he extended his hand a girl who seemed quite young asked to join. Smiling and being the nice person he was he kindly spoke. The girl had had a lot of courage for approaching 2 kids much older than her, Seth wouldn't have dared to do that when he was that age. "Hey Lily." Seth said in his sweetest voice. "I would love for you to join us, I'm Seth by the way." he said patting the bench area next to him, directing her to sit down.

Lily sat gingerly alongside the boy named Seth. It was quite out of character for her to be so bol. She was usually such a shy girl. Lily then noticed a girl on the other side of him and said, "Hey. My name is Lily. What's yours?"

Dana laughed as Seth complimented her spell and her looks as she shook his hand; “Well, thank you. For both of the compliments. You aren’t that bad-looking yourself either.” Dana grinned, deciding she liked the relaxed attitude, “And yes, I’m a Raven, like you yourself.” Dana grinned – fact that she didn’t know Seth personally before this, didn’t mean that she didn’t know he was a Ravenclaw as well. A sixth year for that matter.”
Dana smiled as a small girl – a first year probably approached them and sat on Seth’ other side. “Hi, Lily. I’m Dana,” Dana greeted the younger girl with a nod and a smile, while murmuring one more spell, to create a fire. It was magical, so it wouldn’t die out until, it was extinguished and wouldn’t spread, but it would give warmth.
“The trip back from Hogsmeade can really chill you to the bones, especially with the wind that died down, even with heating charms.” Dana explained her reasons for the fire, as she leaned back a while reaching her hands and legs towards the fire, to get some more warmth.

Being a first year, Lily was amazed at Dana's ability to cast a spell for a fire. It was much appreciated, though, as it was very cold and windy. Lily sat quietly, enjoying the warmth and waiting for someone else to speak.

Dana sighed contently as the warmth engulfed her and smiled at the other two. “So – I know Seth came out here to get some fresh here and I had to walk back from Hogsmeade. But what brings you out here, Lily?” Dana asked friendlily from the first year.
Eyeing the snow around, Dana bowed and picked some starting to make a snow-ball between her hands, almost absent-mindedly: “It was nice to see my grand-parents again and I didn’t have to be bored to tears in History of Magic, but the walk back to the castle was boring.”
Dana finished her snow-ball and threw it up in her eyes, glancing at the other two with a mischievous glint appearing in her eyes, as she wondered if they’d be very angry at her, if she threw it at one of them. Lily would probably be shocked, by this. As for Seth, Dana didn’t really know. So she threw the snow-ball from one hand to the other and back again, while thinking if it was worth the risk or not.

"Yet again, Dana, you seem to know all the right moves." Seth said admiring the fire that Dana had made. Seth slid up the bench to get closer to the fire, feeling the warmth as he edged closer he put his hands out and let them feel the wonderful warmth of the fire.
Seth sat dazed, as Dana asked the first year, Lily, why she had been out here on such a day. Waiting for the girl's answer. Seeing that the girl had not yet responded, Dana talked about her trip back from her grandparents. Seth stopped his daze as he turned his head towards Dana. He had seen her snowball, and he wondered if she had wanted to throw it at him or even Lily. Giving Dana a cock of the eyebrow, he picked up some snow, and began viciously making it into a perfect ball. Once finished he spoke, "You attack, I attack." he said smiling playfully at Dana.

Dana grinned broadly as Seth picked up a snow-ball as well. She had been polite and nice enough for one day. Dana smirked and standing up placed the snowball on the bench, as she once again pulled out her wand and muttering the spell, transfigured her long skirt into black pants.
“Well, I just have to take that change right now,” Dana grinned hurling the snow-ball towards Seth and watching it smack into his shoulder as Dana herself already moved a bit away, trying to keep an eye on Seth, to try and dodge his snow-ball, while picking up some more snow and after forming it quickly into a bit misshapen form, sent it flying towards Lily.
“The ball and the opportunity were just too good to resist!” Dana laughed with a huge grin, eyeing Seth some-what warily. If she got hit by his snow-ball, then she would get hit – it would have been fair-play after all, as she had thrown first. But nothing said she couldn’t at least try and dodge it.

Seth watched as Dana got up from the bench, and transfigured her skirt into pants. Nodding his head, he knew that the snowball battle had begun. Getting up from the bench, slow and steady, Seth was shocked as an Dana made a surprise attack, and hit him smack dab in the shoulder. Laughing, Seth stood up with his snowball stood with his feet posistioned towards Dana's way. He had seen however, that she was going to be a tough one to get.
Seth stood for a brief moment wondering, how he could let this happen, then it came to him. His lameness had gotten the best of him, and he did the first thing that came to mind. "Dana watch the ditch behind you!" he screamed in such a caring and believable way, hoping that she would turn around, leaving him an open target on her back.

Dana felt a bit relieved seeing Seth laugh after the snow-ball hit him He heard Seth’s warning and automatically glanced over her shoulder: ”There’s no ditch in the…” Dana understood that she had been fooled before she even got to finish the sentence and was greeted with a snow-ball. Dana coughed for a moment and brushed the snow out of her eyes before grinning broadly.
“Neat trick, although I can’t believe I fell for it!” Dana laughed moving farther away, while bowing and scooping up one more handful of snow and starting to make a new snow-ball with the smile staying on her face, “You won’t get out of it that easily either, though! Come on, Lily, I could use some help.”
Dana shouted to the first year, who hadn’t moved from the bench as she noticed from the corner of her eye. Dana sent them snow-ball flying towards Seth and shrugged when it missed him nearly. Dana flashed a quick smile to Lily over her shoulder, not wanting to scare the first year away. It must have taken guts to approach two students that much older than she was.

Lily thought a bit before answering Dana's question. "Well, at home, my father always said that it was unladylike to play in the snow and also, I could get very sick. So, when I saw that it was snowing, I had to come out for a bit. ihave watched children all my life making snowangels and snowmen, but never being allowed to take part in it myself. "
Lily caught sight of Dana making a snowball in her hand and eyed it warily as the Ravenclaw tossed it from one hand to the other, mischievously eyeing herself and Seth in turn. Soon, Seth followed suit. *Oh, dear*, Lily thought. *Dana launched the snow at Seth and then Seth picked up some.
Dana pelted her snowball toward Seth, and it hit his shoulder. Lily laughed, but it was short-lived, as Dana soon fashioned a snowball in her other hand and sent it hurling toward her. It shocked her at first, and she sat watching the two for awhile before Dana enlisted her help in attacking Seth. Lily slowly got up, muttered "oh, what the heck" and picked up some snow, hurling it towards Dana, "Sorry, payback".
The next, bigger bunch, was intended for Seth. The snowball was beginning to be larger than her hand, and she caught Dana's eye. She, too, had picked up a new one. picked up a new one. Lily mouthed "one, two, three!" and both of the girls' snow hit seth at once. One in the shoulder and the other in the stomach.

Seth laughed hysterically as Dana fell for the whole 'watch out behind you' gag, and ending up nailing her in the face. "Eh, sorry, didn't mean to hit ya ther," he started to say as he backed up and fell backwards into a ditch as well. Feeling the hard thud, he let out a long laughter and shouted towards Dana. "I'm telling ya' it's all because I hit ya' in the face!" he said getting up and brushing the snow off of himself.
Shaking his hair left and right, he smiled as he noticed that the first year had finally retaliated back at Dana with a long awaited 'payback' snowball. Cracking his neck from side to side, he then bent down to make some snowballs. His bending down must've taken a long time though, because by the time he was up he had noticed the girls had ganged up on him. "One, Two." they shouted. Seth scrambled backwards as the girls reached three, but he had been too late. The snowballs hit hard on his stomach and his shoulder. Laughing Seth spoke up, "Two agaisnt one, and I'm the guy, and I'm getting beat. Yeah, that's pretty pathetic." he said as he made up some more snowballs.
Brushing the snow residue from the snowball off of himself, he then wound up and threw 2 snowballs each after one another, directing one at Dana and the other at Lily. He held his stomach as laughter came roaring out as he missed both of the girls, "Man, I am pathetic!" he shouted.

Lily saw Seth launch a snowball toward her and she dodged, causing him to miss his target. Dana also dodged the one that was thrown at her. She heard Seth say, "man, I'm pathetic" as the girls escaped. Lily laughed.
"Aww, poor Seth." She winked at Dana and eyed the snow. Slowly, both girls picked up and formed new snowballs, and launched them toward him all at once.

Dana was hit by the snow-ball Lily had sent in her way, and brushed the snow off her shoulder, with a broad grin. She had a snow-ball in her hand so when Lily caught her eyes and counted silently, she was ready and threw at the same time as Lily did, with hers hitting Seth in the shoulder.
“Girls rule!” Dana shouted to Seth in gasps from laughing to hard, at his comment that he’s pathetic as she and Lily threw the balls once again. Dana’s hit a tree rather off to the side from Seth, as she doubled over and laughed. Some snow hit her head as she stumbled and sat on the snow, still laughing with tears of mirth starting to form in her eyes.
“We never said, magic is against the rules, remember?” Dana shouted pulling out her wand and muttering a quick charm, sending about five snow-balls to belt both Seth and Lily magically. Dana put her wand away again and dried her eyes, still laughing out loudly at the site, letting herself fall down onto her back as she looked up in the sky and tried to calm her nerves, wondering if a pay-back would come and if yes, in what form. One more breathless gasp of laughter escaped Dana at the memory of how funny the sight had been.

Lily laughed as Dana pulled out her wand, not realizing that part of that was coming her way. Snowballs were launched at each of them, multiples at a time.
When Dana fell onto her back, it was Seth's turn to team up with Lily. As they two pulled out their wands and pelted Dana, her laughter increased.
Soon Lily, too, fell onto the ground and began making a snow angel. She closed her eyes and remembered the last time that she was out in the snow like this.
*F/B* Lily was at the piano, practicing on a snowy day. Her father had forbidden her to go into the snow because it was so cold. She heard her brother, John, and mom whispering in the other room. With a twinkle in his eye, John came into the room and told her to put on her thick coat and follow him. To her surprise, he took Lily to a park and they spent the whole day in the snow. That was the day that she learned how to make snow angels. The only time that she remembered going into the snow to play in her entire life.*End F/B*
Lily was crying in the snow from her memory. This was the last happy memory that she had of her brother.
About a year later, Death Eaters attacked both her mother and younger sister, who was just a baby. John had refused to join them and this was his payback. Not knowing the whole story, their father assumed that John had "sacrificed" them in order to avoid joining the Death Eaters, when in reality, he had tried to protect them from the curse. Lily's father had disowned Johnny, as she called him. Therefore, Lily was not even allowed to speak his name at home, much less keep in contact. She missed him dearly.

Seth watched as Dana targeted Seth with a snowball, which had instead hit a tree, as he bent over holding his stomach with intense laughter filling the air. He heard Dana laughing hysterically too, although there wasn't too much to be laughing about.
Seth listened as Dana had said that magic was allowed. Seth's intense laughter stopped at the sound of that, covering his face with arms, Seth laughed as what felt like a million snowballs came quickly his way, and Lily's. Each hitting him on all different's parts of his body, one being his face that his arms had thankfully covered. Seth took his arms away as he peeked through and saw Dana putting her wand away. He shook all of the snow that had fallen into his hair and laughed. "So you wanna play hardball?" Seth said pulling out his wand and observing it. Turning towards Lily, Seth pointed his wand as, him and Lily, in return pelted Dana with snowballs.
Laughing hysterically, Seth watched as the girls fell to the ground laughing. Seth watched closely, though, as Lily, began to make a snow angel, and who had once been smily and happy had started to cry. Seth's laughed died out, and his concerned side took over.
Bending down, Seth put his hand on Lily's back and began rubbing it for comfort. Seth had known from having younger cousins, how to act in this type of situation. "You okay, Lily?" Seth said in a soothing voice.

Lily looked up at Seth and wiped her face with her mitten. "Yeah. I'm just remembering the first time my brother took me out to play in the snow. He taught me to make snow angels. That was the last real memory I have of him. My father disowned him a year later and I haven't been allowed to speak to him since. I miss him so much."
Lily folded her knees up to her chest and put her head down, sobbing again, softly. "I wish I could see him again. I wouldn't even know where to begin looking, not to mention Papa would kill me."

Dana just laughed and shielded her eyes, as Seth and Lily got back to her with their own wands. She noticed that Lily had tears in her eyes as well, making her laughter to cease, as she watched how Seth bent down to Lily. “Your last name is Ward, right?” Dana said straining her memory, to remember her grand-parents work-associates. Julien and Meredith Graas were one of the most influential pure-blooded families in France, and should they decided to run for the post, Julien would probably became the next Minister of Magic of France. So they both had many connections to England as well as other countries in the world.
“So your brother is wizard too? If so, then I can ask my grand-parents to silently ask around – maybe someone has seen or heard him. My grand-parents have numerous contacts to wizards all over the world, so they might be able to track your brother down a bit. It would certainly be worth a shot,” Dana offered quietly crouching down next to Lily and soothing the girls long red hair and pushing snow out of it, after thinking about the situation for a moment.
“And if it does happen, then I can invite you to visit and have your brother to come by as well. That way you could see him and your father would never have to know. Meredith and Julien are rather respected, so I don’t think your father would suspect anything like that. I can be the cover-up, if you may, unless of course we couldn’t find him or it would be impossible for you two to meet, even if we do find him,” Dana continued softly, “just think about it and let me know when-ever.”
Dana glanced over Lily’s head to Seth, to see how he had reacted to Lily’s words and what he thought about the situation.
