He eyed her, mild suspicion, as well as slight entertainment on his face.
"Well, intresting is better than nothing, right?"
He had to grin at his own never-ending-optomism. It did seem that nothing coud draw that down.
"So, if it was intresting, what can I do to help make your whole view of the ball be a more positive one?"

Kiyla kept her eyes lockedon the ground.
"You'd think that huh?" She said biting her lip.
She sighed as she replied, "I don't know. Surprise me." She shurgged and looked up at Payton her smiles gone.

He watched her for a moment, it didn't take much to notice that something seemed to bother her.
"Kiyla....is something bothering you?"

Kiyla rolled her eyes frustrated. She didn't want to be mad at him and if she was she didn't want him to notice. She shurgged.
"What do you want to do?" She said trying to smile. She wondered if it looked as forced as it was.

He sighed slightly, tilting his head and giving her a slightly sympathetic look.
"You can talk to me you know"

Kiyla shrugged again and looked at the ground. She couldn't meet Paytons eyes. If she did she wouldn't be able to lie... as well.
"Oh no. I'm fine. Just dandy. Superb." She said looking at the groudn still trying to sound happy. She looked up and psted another smile on her face. She turned towards the table again and her smile faded. She looked and grabbed a cup of pumpkin juice and drank that quickly. She turned back to Payton and smiled slowly, forced.
"See... just happy."

"Kiyla"
He moved after her, standing back a few feet as she drained a glass of pumpkin juice. It wasn't hard to see that something was bothering her, and he truly did want to get to the botoom of it.
"Somehow I don't think guzzling pumpkin juice is in the dictionary as an action one does when happy."
He sighed slightly, then stepped closer.
"I wont make you tell me, but that doesn't change the fact I want you to"

Kiyla sighed and looked up at Payton trying to figure out what to feel.
"I suppose you are right." She said.
"I... saw you an Sethia having 'fun' as you would put it. Turns out I did care. And it turns out that the other guy is history." She said making it sound like she was just telling him about the best weekend in her life.
She turned her back on Payton and walked over to the other side of the table and sat down with her hands covering her face.

He sighed slightly and walked after her. Things seemed to be getting very complicated very quickly. He knew that he had put on the charm with her more than he should have. But she was nice, and he did like her, and then there was Sethia, who was just as nice, yet he had formed a very different relationship with her. Of cousre that didn't make things any clearer. Things were always so complidated when emotions got involved.
"Kiyla...I'm sorry"

Kiyla sighed as she put her head down in her arms. She ignored Payton and closed her eyes. She wanted to just disappear.
'Why is this happening to me?' She sthought to herself miserably.
"Look you can just go. I'll just mess up your night... you know?" She said not moving. Her voice was probably muffled by the table but she didn't care. She knew he'd get the message.

"No"
He pulled up a chair and sat down beside her, giving a stubborn nod. He was ignoring the emotional part of her reaction, and trying to deal with it praticaly.
"I asked you to be my date, and I plan on keeping up my end of the deal"

Kiyla heard a tear drop softly on the table. She hated that she cried so easily. She looked up at Payton.
"And how do you plan to do that?" She said.

He grinned slightly and shrugged. He really didn't like to see her so upset, but making a big deal out of it wasn't going to make things better. Instead he was his usual self over the whole situation.
"By sticking around for the rest of the ball"

Kiyla sighed. She wiped her face quickly and smiled softly.
'Just forget it. Enjoy the night.' She thought to herself.
"And what exactly are you planing on doing for the rest of the night, while you are with me?" She asked him. She was pushing her sadness, hurt, and anger to the back of her heart, mind, whatever you want to say.

He taised his eyebrows slightly, but didn't say anything for a long moment, he finally stoof up and reached a hand out to her
"How about we dance?"

Kiyla looked at Payton and took his hand and stood up as well.
"I'd like that." She said as they walked over towards the dance floor. She smiled softly at him once more.

It was a fast song, thankfully a very upbeat one with a lot of drums in the background. As he lead the way onto the dance floor he turned around and grabbed her hand, making her spin around before he fell into rythem with the music.

Kiyla smiled faintly as Payton spun her around. She was thankful that it was a fast song. She wasn't ready to get close with him just yet, and plus at least now she could let loose... a little.
Kiyla closed her eyes and let her moves fall gracefully into the rhythm of the beat. She swayed her hips and twisted and turend her hands. She loved it when she could feel one with the beat. She wasn't dancing all crazy like some people there. She was for once... graceful.

He watched her as she started to dance again, smiling at how she seemed to just let the music take over. She was a much better dancer than she gave herself credit for.
They stayed like this for a few long minutes until the song was over, when he leaned in closer to her.
"A few more songs and you will be dancing better than me"

Kiyla opend her eyes to see Payton leaning in closer to her. She smiled at his words and moved in closer to him. She smiled slightly as she closed her eyes once more and let the music take over. She knew at least for this moment while she was dancing she wouldn't have to worry about anything. She could feel her scarves moving in sync with her body movements. She thought about all the times she would be in her room dancing to the muggle singers and mimicking them while she looked in the mirror. She smiled at the thought and opened her eyes.
"Well you're still pretty good yourself. Remember... i learned from the best." She said continuing to smile.
