Sethia nodded her head, “Yes.”<br> “It is important to me too, but my aunt Hetty, has to go away on an important trip, just before I am supposed to come home. She won’t be back before school lets out, and I don’t want to stay alone at the farm for possibly weeks. I had no choice, I was going to stay here for Christmas.” She looked at his shoulder, she didn’t want him to think badly of her aunt, they were all the other had, and Sethia knew she would rather be with her then on some trip.
“It has to do with our farm, if she doesn’t go…” Sethia tried to explain. She really didn’t want to stay at school for the holidays.

He smiled slightly, still finding it hard to believe that her Aunt would be away for Christmas, but then he assumed there were some things that people just couldn't get out of.
"Well, I'm sure its important for her to be away from you for the holidays."

“It is important. I totally understand why she has to go, but it doesn’t mean I like it,” Sethia said with a smile. Hetty was negotiating to sell some of their animals to other farms and to buy some of their animals; she was also working on getting breeding rights to a few bulls for their cows. To most people that would be boring and inconsequential, but to a farmer, it was very important, it determined whether you survived or not. “If she makes this deal she is working on, then our farm will do much better,” she explained.

"And a better farm is the plan right?"
He grinned slightly, still moving streadily with the careful, sweet tune of the song. He already knew the answer to his question. He wondered for a fleeting moment if it bothered her that she couldn't spend Christmas with her Aunt. Soon that question was replaced with an even greater desire for her to spend christmas with him and his family.
"Well, you know, any families probably better than no family at all. So if you can't go home to your Aunt, you might as well go to a place you have never been to spend the holidays with total strangers"

“Yes, it is,” Sethia, said seriously. They were still moving to the beat, and on Sethia’s part the movement was subconscious; she was not even thinking of where to put her feet or which direction he was leading her in, she was allowing him to lead her.
His comments made her smile and laugh, just a little. “I suppose Christmas with complete strangers is better than one all on your own,” she said. Her face became serious again, but soft, “Are you being serious Payton? Are you offering to let me stay with your family this Christmas?”

He smiled softly at her question, his expression soft, thought most of his usual joking ways was drained from it. He did want her to know that he was serious, even if it had started mainly at a joke, he had always guenily meant it on some level.
"If you want to come, I'm sure everyone, especially Pops, would be happy to have you"

Payton gave her a soft smile and then gave her an answer. He was serious, she could tell and it meant a lot that he would invite her. “Thank you,” she said meaningfully, she really did appreciate the offer. “I’ll…I’ll think about it. You’re sure no one would mind?” she said with a smile. Perhaps she would take him up in his offer; after all it was better than staying at school alone for the entire holiday and besides his family sounded nice and their traditions.
“Lets talk about this another time, and we can decide then if it’s a possibility.” She smiled at him, she was really having a fun time.

He smiled slightly at her answer, really hoping that she would take him up on the offer. He did mean it, and considering that his father would adopt every kid in Britian if they would, he knew that he would be beside himself with the thought of another kid around for the holidays. His siblings wouldn't care either--it truthfully was to the point where there were so many of them, no one cared. Though Emma and Caitlin, his two older sisters might like another girl to talk to. Besides them, the next closest in age was twelve.
"Yeah, we can talk about it closer to Holiday I guess, but I promise that no one will mind. I will even write my Pops and ask if it makes you feel better."

Sethia gave Payton a smile, “Yes, you should write him and ask. It would make me feel better about making a decision to know for sure your dad wouldn’t mind. Your family sounds great Payton.” The music was still playing, though Sethia was so focused on what they were talking about that she hardly heard it at all. “So my devilish friend, what do we do now?” she asked with a grin.
Sethia was really going to think about this. to stay with Payton’s family during the holidays did have its appeal, to be in a larger family setting, surrounded by people who love each other sounded good. She would also have time to experience living in a different environment that she was used to, and the added benefit of spending time with Payton.

He grinned slightly at her agreeing to sending an owl to his father. He could almost hear his father's reply in his head. First Pops would say yes of course, and then he would go on about how happy he about his son's new friend, and how she could come over any time, and then he would more onto it he needed anything for school or his new friend. He shook hie head slightly to regain his thoughts, he knew his father too well.
"I will write him the moment I get back to my drom, bt I do promse you he will start laying out the welcome mat the day he gets my owl"
Flashing her another bright grin he raised his eyebrows and shrugged slightly at her quesion on what to do next. They had implied a parting after the song was done...

“Okay,” Sethia said as Payton told her he would write his father as soon as he returned to his dorm. “You are so sure your dad will welcome me. I don’t know what to say, you have me bewildered. I just don’t know what to say.” She smiled, no one had been so generous as to offer her a place to stay in their home before, if you excluded her aunt, but that situation had been different.
“I guess you’ll be heading back after this song then?” she asked him, a tinge of disappointment ringing through.

He couldn't say that he wasn't disapointed at the thought of parting with her, everything just seemed to happen so easily when they were together.
"We probably should....there are probably only a few songs left and I should go find my date and some point. But the songs not over yet....besides I still have a letter to plan..."

Sethia was disappointed to hear Payton say that he had to go soon. She was having a wonderful time with Payton and really hated to see him go. “Yeah,” she said the disappointment could easily be heard in her voice.
She smiled a little as he told her he didn’t have to leave immediately, “Yeah you do have a letter to write. Do you want some help with it?” a glint in her eyes.

He hated to hear the disapointment in her voice, but he knew he couldn't stay with her longer than this song. Kiyla would be waiting. He smiled, more by force than anything, and tried to brush it off and let the topic settle on the letter.
"See, but if you help you will know all the secret things I plan to write about you"

Sethia’s face was still showing signs of disappointment, when Payton brought up her helping with the letter. She looked at him curiously and smiled, “Secret things you plan to write about me?” she asked. “What would those be?” she asked intrigued. “Don’t forget I will have to write a letter eventually if I decide to spend Christmas with your family,” she said with a grin “I am sure Aunt Hetty will want to know all about you.”

His eyebrows raised at her suspicous smile, then shrugged slightly, his own smile matching her own.
"Oh, don't worry. I will say nothing but wonderful things, Wizards honor...remember, I need to convince Pops you are sweet an innocent, the challenge that will be"

“Hey,” she said and slapped his arm playfully. “I am sweet, if you didn’t notice,” she told him smiling. “Don’t let me have to tell my Aunt what a gentleman you are, a prankster, but gentleman,” she teased.

He laughed at her comment then nodded slightly
"Alright, alright, you are sweet! Just like I am a real gentleman"
He was still laughing as he resumed moved closer to her again. He could tell by the way the beat was picking up that the song was nearing its end, and he wan't quite ready for it to be over yet.

Sethia laughed, “Good, as long as you know,” she said looking at him. Sethia looked around as the music changed its beat…the song was ending. Sethia wished it would go on longer, much longer. She turned around and found that Payton had drawn closer to her. “Seems like the song is almost at its end,” she said slightly sad.

He regretfully nodded in agreement, willing himself to think about someone other than the ending song.
"Well, I hope you know I plan to not stop dancing until the very last drum beat fades away compleatly"
