"Mum, come on!" Maryn called as her mother hurried along behind her. They were in the busy Kings Cross Station making their way to Platform 9 and three quarters. "Hush down, Maryn." Mrs. Livley called using her usual phrase. "No, mum we are going to be late!" She said pushing her way throught the crowd. They made their way to the entrance to the platform. "Finally!" Maryn cheered as she ran through the wall to the platform. Maryn smiled as she entered the station. She didn't seeme to be late as she thought, but early. "Bye, Mum." Maryn hugged her mother wanting desperatally to go to Hogwarts. "You will be returning for Christmas, right?" Her mother said through a tear. "Maybe. I'll be fine." She said to her mother as she stepped on the train.
Maryn made her way to an empty carriage in the back. She liked being away from the teachers. "I'm coming home." She wispered as she sat on a seat by the window. Maryn thought of Hogwarts as her home. Her house in London just couldn't compare. Maryn smiled as she sat their alone. Just enjoying the moment.

Elisabeth kissed her aunt on the cheek. "Goodbye Des" Her aunt's voice was sad, and a tear rolled down her cheek. "Don't worry Lela, I'll be back for Christmas for sure." Elisabeth finished her goodbyes, took her cart, and ran through the wall and saw the red train. She was overjoyed to see the Hogwarts Express, she would be going to her second home...which was almost better that her first. She waved goodbye to Lela and felt her spirits rise as she climbed on board.
Elisabeth quietly walked to the back of the train, greeting her friends and looking for an empty carriage. She wanted some peace and quiet so she could get some writing done. Finnaly she found a carriage that had only one person in it, staring out the window with a smile on her face. Elisabeth recognised Maryn from last year. She opened the door and walked in. "Hi Maryn. Do you mind if i sit here?"

As Maryn sat in her seat thinking, Elisabeth came in. "No, I don't mind. Come in." Maryn smiled. She was glad it was Elisabeth and not a mean Slytherin. "So, looking forward to going back to Hogwarts?" Maryn asked. She wondered if anyone was excited as she was. Maryn looked out the window for a moment wanting the train to leave so badley.

Elisabeth entered the carriage and put her stuff down. Maryn asked if she was glad to go back. "I am so glad to be going back home. The summer was a much needed break but i could've done without the last few weeks." She felt her chest get tighter and her eyes began to sting as she remembered the events that occurred about a week ago in Dublin. She still wasn't quite over that.
Elisabeth sat across from Maryn, and stared out the window for a while, wondering what this year would be like. To break the silence she ask Mayrn, "So how was your summer? Anything exciting/interesting happen?" She was genuinely interested, but she half-hoped that she wouldn't need to tell about her summer.

"Yea, i know what you mean." Maryn responded to Elisabeth's comment. For a second the room was quiet. Then, Elisabeth asked how her summer had been. "Well, okay I guess. I was stranded at home for weeks because of the Diagon Alley attacks and my parents didn't want me to go back to Hogwarts after the recent attacks. But, I convinced them Hogwarts is safer than London." She replied. "How was your summer?" Maryn asked interested.

"Well," Elisabeth started - with dread - to tell the story of her summer. "I went back to live with my aunt, who is okay but she's no replacement for a mom. I was stuck in my stupid house for so long...away from everything and everyone. Then I went to some stupid Muggle camp for writing and actually failed because I couldn't write when they told me to. And then..." Her voice trailed off and a hint of sadness was in her eyes.
"My aunt took me into Dublin to do some shopping (she is such a Muggle) and I met this guy Jack. He goes to Durmstrang, and he was so wonderful and really good-looking. We dated for a little while, but he broke up with me. It was so awful, but I can't do anything about it now." What a great summer. Elisabeth thought to herself. "I hope this year is better than last year. Any big plans/hopes for this year?"

"Oh I'm sorry." Maryn replied to Elisabeth's story. "I didn't know. Well, I hope to get decent grades. And most of my year will be accupied up by cheerleading. But, I think I will have a good year." Just then the train whistle sounded and the trian started moving. "Yea!" Maryn thought. "What about you?"

"Thanks, I'm better now that i was earlier." Elisabeth flashed one of those secret smiles, only she knew what it was about. Finally the train started leaving the station. Elisabeth rejoiced inside herself. She was going back home! "Well, I hope to get good grades too. Yeah I'm on the Squad too, but who else is on it? And I kind of hope that I'll find someone that I can date this year. Once I'm ready of course." She stopped talking for a moment and thought about Thomas. She met him in Dublin, and she secretly hoped she would see him again. Elisabeth stared out the window with the biggest smile on her face in days.

"Oh, for Gryffindor only you, me and a girl named Rosaliz. It should be great fun. yea, I hope i'll mind someone too. I think all third year girls do. SO, is there anyone you fancy?" A smile was now wide on Maryn's face. She was glad to be talking about something fun rather than the usual attacks. She started thinking of the boys she knew and couldn't think of one she liked more than a friend. But, that made her for glad to be going back to Hogwarts. To meet new boys.

"Well, the Squad should be interesting." Maryn asked the big question...Is there anyone I fancy? thought Elisabeth. This only made her smile widen even more. "There is one guy. He's in Hufflepuff. His name is Thomas Lightfellow. You know him?" She hoped she didn't, she didn't want to put up with anything awkward happening. "So how about you, fancy anyone?"

"Yea, I've seen him before at St. Mungos actually, but I never really got to meet him." Maryn answered. "Well, there is this one guy, but he wouldn't be interested in me. I should just move on and find a new boy at Hogwarts." Maryn answered Elisabeth's question. Maryn started thinking about the boy she kind of liked, but Maryn knew he couldn't like her. She had met him a few months ago before she got grounded for sneaking out, but she was a different person then. She was quiet and polite, but after the past few attacks she became moody and headstrong.

Elisabeth let out a sigh of relief. So Maryn knows who he is...but she hasn't met him yet....not a problem. She kept telling herself. Acoording to Maryn she liked someone, but he wasn't interested in her. "Nonsense Maryn, unless you have talked to him and know for a fact that he doesn't like you, don't give up on him! But if you must, I'm sure that there will be plenty of date-worthy guys this year." Elisabeth said accompanied by her devious grin. Maryn was quiet....deep in thought. Elisabeth took the break in conversation to stare out the window and think about everything that had happened over the summer.

"You're right." Maryn stated after bouncing out of her trance. "If I like him I should just go for it. But, I'm so fickle I'll probally find someone I like better." Maryn let out the same devious grin Elisabeth had on her face. "I love being a third year!" Maryn said suddenly. "My parents promised me I get to date this year. Not that they really have a choice when I'm off at Hogwarts. But, I let them give their usual two cents." Maryn laughed. She was glad that the conversation was about something fun and not sad. The world needed that. Fun.

Elisabeth smiled, Maryn was always so cheerful. "Yeah there are some great guy at Hogwarts." She said, thinking of Thomas. Maryn flashed an equally devious smile as Elisabeth's, talking about how her parents were letting her date this year. "My aunt is fine with me dating this year too, she was trying to set me up with people all summer." She smiled at the memory.

"Well, my dad wasn't entirely pleased. What dad would be? He wants me to date muggles. He says it would be less dangerous that way." Maryn smiled looking out the window for a second.
"We should be there in a little while." Maryn said aloud. "I can't wait to see the Sorting Ceremony. I always like to watch it. I remeber when I was getting sorted." Maryn's mood suddenly changed. "My parents wanted me to be in Hufflepuff. They said Huffies stay away from danger and are level headed." Maryn was looking out the window as she said all of this.
"They were so dissapointed when they found out I was in Gryffindor." Her words just seemed to flow out. They were well over do. "I remeber the Sorting Hat whispering to me. "You belong in Gryffindor. He said, Despite what others think. Gryffindor is where your heart is."
"I think they were so disapointed because to them every Gryffindor will die young. I think they see me as dead." Maryn was lost in thought. She had started the conversation. Why had she? She said that over and over in her head.

Elisabeth just listened as Maryn talked about how her parents didn't really approve of anything. With just a touch of resentment in her voice she replied, "They probably just want what they think is best for you. At least you have parents that care...at least you have parents."
"My aunt didn't really care what house I got placed in, I was actually surprised I got placed In Gryffindor."
"No offense to your parents of course, but why would Gryffindors die young? I mean, we have just as much chance as anyone else."

The door to their carriage burst open, and Elisabeth was thrown out into the hallway. She could hear people screaming, "Death Eaters on the train!" and other such things. Elisabeth flew through the air and crashed into the wall. She lifted a hand to her head and felt blood matted in her hair. One of the young Aurors was dead, killed by a Death Eater. She felt sick, remembering what happened to her parents.
Then she was in the air again. She hit something, not knowing whether it was the floor, wall, or ceiling. She was in excruciating pain for a heartbeat...and then her world faded into blackness. Her last thought was, I wish I could've seen Thomas one last time.

Thomas had gotten to the train much sooner and was only a few carts away from Elisabeth. He would have stopped by but he didn't see her he must have found this car before she found hers. Thomas was lying on the chair it was funny how no one joined him he was sure the train would need all the room it could have to hold all the new kids. But when the train started he was sure he would be alone for the whole ride. That’s when Thomas lied down and fell asleep. He parents had woke him up early because last time Thomas almost missed the train. Thomas woke up when there was a blast in the train, Thomas rose to his feet. He had a quick flash back to what happened at Diagon alley. He knew before anyone said it, it had to be Death Eaters. Thomas pulled out his wand not sure if could do anything. Thomas knew he stood zero chance against a full grown death eater but if it came down to it he could always use his wand to try and run.
Thomas looked out the window of the cart, He was in one of the last cars and saw people running outside of his window. He then saw somebody fly by his window and fly right outside his door. It happened so fast but he thought he saw the face of Elisabeth. Thomas just waited a second He even opened his door and pulled her in then closed the door right behind her. He lied her down right under the door. He thought that if a death eater looked in the window and saw nothing they wouldn't open the door. Thomas sat down and put her head in his lap. Thomas was shocked it was really her. "Hey, you still there?" Thomas asked he could still see she was breathing but he didn't know if he was awake anymore. "It's going to be ok you hear me." He said, still not knowing if she could hear him, trying to stay calm but he was very scared for her and himself.

Elisabeth heard someone talking to her, but their voice seemed distant and faint. Then she felt someone pick her up and place her down gently somewhere else. Am I dead? Elisabeth wondered. She tried so move her limbs and almost screamed. No way. I hurt too much to be dead. I must've gotten knocked out. She tried to open her eyes, she only succeeded for a split-second, but she saw Thomas' face above her. After a moment she wrenched her eyes open, but her eyelids fluttered for a few moments before she could keep them open.
"Thomas." That was all she could say, her voice so quiet she thought he wouldn't hear her. So, gathering all the strength she had Elisabeth moved her left hand a fraction of an inch to touch Thomas' hand. The pain was so bad, she shut her eyes again. She desperately hoped that Thomas was okay, she couldn't bear it if anything happened to him. In case anything happened to him, she wanted to tell him something. But she didn't know if she could, and this wasn't how she had imagined it. "Thomas...I....I....lo..." That was all she got out.

He was shocked when she started to open one of her eyes. Thomas looked at her with a shocked face her eye closed again then both opened and stayed open. Thomas just smiled glad she was ok. She then said his name and he smiled even more. " Yes I'm right here, Not being a very good bodyguard am I?" He said trying to get her mind off the pain she was in. Thomas then saw her close her eyes again. He thought she fell asleep again but she then said something. She said his name again but couldn't make out the rest, Thomas knew she must have been in a lot of pain. "You need to be quite ok." He said in a serious. "It's not that I don't want to hear that beautiful voice but your hurt you need to save your energy." Thomas said looking down at her face putting one of his hands on her face. Thomas could hear people outside the car but the seemed to be running right by the car.
