Sneaking And Secrets! ~Danny McKay~

[Annabella Valentine H3]

Annabella quietly made her way down the staircase; it was 11:55 so she had five minutes before she was to meet Danny. But she figured it would pretty much take those five minutes, to get out. Having made it to the common room, she sighed quietly in relief. So far so good she thought to herself, as she glanced around to make sure, no one was around. She was risking getting into big trouble, but she didn’t care. She was excited and curious about this, place Danny was taking her to. A smile graced her lips as she, thought about the time, they spent together earlier in the day.

She walked over to the, portrait and saw that Helga was sleeping, in a chair. She smiled and tried not to giggle, at her position she was in. Before she went out she gave herself a quick, glance over. Instead of her uniform she wore a pair of jeans and a sweater. She had her hair down, instead of up in a ponytail like she had earlier. Her hair came just to her waist, and swayed gently as she moved. Taking a deep breath, she slowly began to move the portrait aside. Careful not to wake its sleeping occupant.

She quietly stepped out of the room, and turned around slowly letting the portrait, swing back into place. She had successfully managed to get, out without being noticed. She quickly walked over to the stairs, and up them. Only to discover that Danny was not there yet, she bit her lip and wondered if he got caught, or was just running a bit late. So she sat down on the steps, on an angle where she could see, all around her, so that if anybody besides Danny showed up, she could hide or head back to her common room. She leaned her head back against the wall, and patiently sat and waited.

“I can’t believe this.” He said to himself as he made his way down the common room quietly. “Now I’m going to be late…I can’t believe I fell asleep.” He added as he made it to the common room. The only good part about falling asleep was that he was able to change into his normal clothes which he probably wouldn’t have done if he stayed awake. He was in black pants a white shirt and his leather jacket over that. Danny moved the portrait door almost waking up the fat lady. But she just mumbled something then nodded back off.

Danny walked down the steps as fast as he could but still trying to be as quite and possible. He didn’t need to be running down the halls in the panic he was sure he wasn’t that late maybe just a few minutes. The real thing that was on his mind was if Annabella was going to mad at him for making her wait. He hated thinking about the possible of her being mad at him first just because he didn’t like people being mad at him or making people wait. Second because he really liked Annabella and hanging out with her and he didn’t want her mad at him.

As Danny made it down another flight of stair he thought about what if one of them moved on him then it would take even longer to get down there which made him remember then one of them moved on Annabella earlier today day. Danny was finally close to where he was going to meet her. Danny turned down to go down the last thing of stairs and saw something sitting at the bottom of the stairs at first he thought it was Filch's cat. Which just the thought of that scared him a little but as he looked he realized it was Annabella sitting there waiting for him.

Danny smiled as he walked down the stair and stood next to where she was sitting. “Sorry about being so late.” He said quietly smiling down at her. “I kind of fell asleep but I‘m glad you waited.” he said a little embarrassed. “So you want to go there now? Or you have something else planned?” He asked her smiling down at her again as he noticed that she had changed her clothes also.

Annabella drummed her fingers lightly, against the floor as she continued to wait. A few minutes had passed, since she had gotten there. She glanced up the stairs to see if she could see him coming, but she saw nothing. She sighed quietly and began to look around the hall. All kinds of scenarios went though her mind at this point, as to why he wasn’t there yet. The scariest one to her was that he had changed his mind. The second being that he had gotten caught, or maybe this was a joke he was playing, to see how long she would wait.

Nah…he wouldn’t do something like that, would he? She thought to herself and then shook her head and smiled. Nah he may be a joker, but he is not that cruel. She thought. A few more minutes had passed, and she finally began to hear quiet footsteps, coming down the stairs. She was afraid to turn around, in fear that it might be Filch, or worst yet a Prefect or teacher. But she breathed a sigh of relief, when the person stood beside her and spoke. It was Danny.

He had apologized and said that he had fallen asleep and that’s why he was a little bit late, He then asked if she wanted to head to the place now, or did she have something else planned. She smiled and stood up and said “Its alright, I wasn’t waiting anyways, and umm we can just head up to the place now, if you want. Unless you want to go down to the lake first? Or we could do that after, its up to you.” She said

She slid her hands into the pockets on, her jeans and smiled and waited to see what he would say.

Danny smiled as she spoken and he was so glad that she didn’t sound mad or seem it. He laughed a little as he listened to her talk about what to do next. “Well you know what they say.” he said smiling down at her. “They always save the best for last so let’s go to the lake then I’ll take you there.” He said laughing a little as he started walking to the front gate and turned to her to see if she was following. “Well come on princess. I think our lucky might run out if we just stand here.” He said laughing quietly as he opened the door to the outside quietly.

Danny smiled as he made it outside then held the door open for Annabella then closed it right behind her. “So have you ever been outside this late before?” He asked her smiling down at her. Danny would have to have guessed she hadn’t but he couldn’t really be sure she might do this all the time or something. “Well let’s go walk around.” He said laughing. “And I’ll try to hold back the urge to push you into the lake.” He added laughing again then smiling down at Annabella. “Also.” He said smiling down at her unable to not say what she said next. “I love the long hair.” He said smiling down at her which he really did. He liked it much more then the ponytail she had before.

Annabella smiled and then laughed a bit, when Danny recited a quite popular comment, about saving the best for last, and suggested that they go down to the lake first, and then he would take her there. She nodded and watched as he made his way, to the door and the turned around and said, to come on, as their luck might run out, if they just stood there. She smiled and nodded again and followed after him. She saw that he was holding the door open for her, and quickly but quietly went through it, and then watched as he closed it.

She smiled up at him as he asked, if she had ever been out this late before. She shook her head, “Nope never, so this is all new to me.” She smiled and nodded to him as he said, for them to go walk around. As they started to make their way, down towards the lake, he had added that he would hold back the urge, to push her into the lake. She laughed quietly and replied “If I go into the lake, your coming with me. Because as soon as you push, I will grab onto you.” She smiled and then laughed. She looked around as they walked, taking in how everything looked different at night. She turned her gaze back to him, as he said that he loved the long hair. She smiled and blushed a bit. “Thanks and I don’t normally have it down like this, it tends to get in the way. I just felt like a change tonight.” She smiled and then looked forward.

Danny smiled as they walked she told him that this was her first time being out so late for it was all new to her. “Well don’t worry that just means I have to be extra careful so that your first time out late doesn’t turn into a nightmare or something.” He said laughing a little as they walked closer to the lake. He laughed even more as he listened to her talk about how if she was going into the lake he was going into when he grabbed onto him and pulled him in. “Well Then I’ll make sure not to push you into the lake…today.” He said and added today laughing.

Danny smiled down as she smiled back and blushed a little which he could barely see with it being dark out and then listened to her talk about why her hair was down. “Well I’m glad you did change it at lest for tonight.” He said smiling looked down at her. Danny looked out at the sky but it was only a half moon that was out to today and he sighed a little. “I wish it was a full moon.” He muttered to himself he always enjoyed looking outside his window when he couldn’t sleep and looking at the stars and if he was lucky a full moon on those days.

“Just think if you didn’t meet me you would be asleep in your bed and not outside where you could get in all this trouble.” He said laughing a little then looking down at her. “I guess that makes me a bad influence on you.” He added laughing. “So I guess I should say sorry… but I won’t.” He said smiling down at her then looking forward as they started to reach the lake.

Annabella laughed when Danny said, he would have to make sure her first time out late, doesn’t turn into a nightmare. She laughed even more when he commented, he would push her into the lake today, when she had said, that if he did he would be going in himself. “Well that’s a good thing; I was kind of hoping if things go well, we could do it again, what’s the worst that could happen, anyways. We get caught. As to you not pushing me into the water, you won’t get a chance to. I’ll be on guard now.” She then laughed and smiled up at him.

Annabella smiled and said “Thanks.” When Danny had said that he, was glad she decided to leave her hair down, Hm maybe I’ll leave it down around him, all the time. She thought to herself as she smiled at him, and then looked up at the sky, as he did. She could see the moon, which was only a half moon tonight, she then looked down and forward, as they almost reached the lake. She folded her arms across her chest, and gazed out at the lake, it looked pretty the way the moonlight shone across it. She looked over to him, when she thought she heard him mutter something, but not hearing what he said. “Did you say something?” she asked as she smiled.

She listened as he commented about; if she hadn’t met him she would be in bed sleeping, and not outside where she could get into all this trouble. He then said that he guessed, that made him a bad influence on her, and he guessed he should say sorry, but he wouldn’t. She laughed and then smiled up at him and said. “Yeah that’s all true, but I can’t see myself doing this with anybody else, but you. Wouldn’t want to anyways.” She then laughed and looked forward to see, that they were coming up to the lake. “So now that we are here, what are we going to do?” she asked

Danny laughed as he listened to her talk about that she was hoping that they could this again something and what was the worst that could happen, they would just get caught. Then he laughed again about him not going to be able to push her in the lake because she would now be on guard. “Don’t worry if we get caught we can spent the detention together cleaning trophies or something.” He said laughed as they walked to the lake. “And don’t worry I’ll push you into that lake someday but just not today.” He said smiling down at her as they kept walking.

Danny smiled down at her as she asked him if he said anything. “I just wished it was a full moon.” He said laughing a little. “It makes everything a little bit brighter.” He added still laughing a little. Danny laughed a little as they reached the lake finally and she asked him since they were finally here what were they going to do from here and he just smiled down at her. “Well you’re the one with the idea about that lake so you can decide what do to next and I’ll just follow.” He said laughing down at her.

Danny looked up at the sky and you could see all the stars, it wasn’t cloudy at all. Danny in his head went thought all the constellations he knew. Big dipper, littler dipper, Orion… Danny couldn’t find anymore or remember what they looked like so he gave up and just smiled down at her and waited for her to say something.

“Cleaning trophies huh? That sounds……incredibly boring.” She laughed out as she couldn’t imagine that she would stay sane, if she had to do that. But then again Danny would be there so it would be fun actually. She was sure that he would try and inject a little humor into it. She laughed again as he said, that he would push her into the lake, but just not today. She laughed and then smiled, looking up at him and ruffling his hair saying “Keep dreaming buddy.”

Annabella smiled and nodded, as Danny had repeated what he had said earlier. That he wished it was a full moon out, because it makes everything brighter. She nodded and gazed out to the lake again, “Yeah it does, I mean the moon right now, is doing a pretty nice job, but a full moon would make it all seem a lot better.” She smiled and looked up at him, and then laughed when he said, that she was the one with, the ideas about the lake, so she could decide what to do next. And he would just follow. She laughed along with him, and said “Fair enough, umm I can’t think of anything besides maybe walking, unless you want to be brave and go swimming?” she then laughed.

Annabella looked over to Danny, after a few minutes went by and saw, him looking up at the sky. Wondering what he found so interesting, she glanced up as well. All you could see was stars. There wasn’t a cloud in sight, she smiled as she tried to find, some constellations that she knew of. After finding about four, she looked over to Danny and asked “So how many constellations can you find? I found about four.” She then laughed and looked back up.

Danny laughed as he listened to her say that cleaning trophies sounded boring and then just smiled down at her. “It is but that is just one of filch’s punishments. We’re just lucky that he can’t come up which his own punishments.” He said laughing and smiling down at her. “That guy could probably think up some pretty painful ones.” He added laughing then watched her ruffle up his hair when he told her that he would push her into the lake some day and then told him to keep dreaming. “Trust me if I want you pushed into the lake I’ll find a way.” He said laughing down at her then stuck out his tongue.

Danny laughed again as she agreed with him about the full moon. “It’s also not just about it being brighter I just like it when it’s a full moon. I don’t know why it just…. Well I don’t really know why.” He said laughing. Then he listened as she talked about what to do next and said that they should go for a walk unless he was brave enough to go for a swim. Danny laughed as he listened to her. “Well let’s just go for a walk. I’m not really in the mood for swimming.” He said laughing and it was true and would rather have started dry tonight then stay wet for the rest of it.

Danny started walking a little and turned back as he listened to her question and laughed again. “Well I only got to three constellations, so I’m not doing as good as you.” he said laughing and Danny started walking a little then started walking backwards slowly and smiled. “So you coming or are you waiting for me to carry you?” he asked her laughing.

She laughed as Danny commented about Filch and his punishments, and then added that they were lucky, he wasn’t allowed to come up with his own. That he would probably think up some painful ones. Annabella laughed again and nodded “Yeah that’s true, so we are lucky. But then again its just painful looking at him, sometimes so maybe that could be considered a punishment?” she looked up at him and smiled and then laughed.

She then listened as he said that if he wanted to push her in, the lake that he would find a way. She just laughed at that. She then nodded as he spoke about the moon again, and how he wasn’t sure why he liked full moons, and that he just did. “Well that’s a good answer. I guess maybe one of these days; you’ll be able to figure out why you like full moons so much.” She then smiled up at him, and then turned her gaze back towards, the lake.

She laughed as he said that he would, rather go for a walk then swimming, as he wasn’t in the mood for it. “Oh really? So what gets you in the mood for swimming then?” she asked. She then watched as Danny began to walk, and answered her about the constellations saying that he was, only able to get three. He then began to walk backwards slowly, asking her if she was coming or was she waiting for him to carry her. She then thought about it for a moment and then laughed, and said “I’m coming.” And she jogged up to where he was and smiled.

“It would have been nice to be carried by you again, but I think you have already carried me enough earlier, so I let you off this time.” She said and then laughed as she started, to walk.

Danny laughed as he listened to Annabella about filch then laughed even more when she was done talking about him. “Hey now that sounded very mean.” He said smiling down at her. “But very true but I still think there would be more painful ones that he could think of.” He said laughing a little then looking out to the lake. Then Danny listened to her say that, that was a good answer to why he liked a full moon and maybe he will figure it out sometime. “I doubt it.” He said laughing as he smiled down at her.

Danny laughed again as she asked him what got him into the mood for swimming then just smiled down a he as he started walking. “Summer and the sun.” He said laughing. “I don’t really like swimming at night but if you want to so bad I could join you I guess.” He said laughing a little as he watched her catch up to him. Danny smiled down at her again as he listened to her talk about it would have been nice to be carried again.

“Well maybe I’ll carry you on the way back to you common room when I drop you off.” He said smiling down at her. “That sound good to you?” He said laughing and knowing he wasn’t going to mind caring her again the first time was pretty fun to being with. "Just to make sure I don't lose you somehow." Danny said laughing down at her then stuck out his tongue.

Annabella laughed a little when Danny said that her comment, about Filch was very mean. And then he smiled down at her, and added that he thought that there would, be more painful ones he could, think off. After she had made her comment about, Danny figuring out later, why he like the full moon so much, he laughed and said he doubted that. She laughed a bit and smiled up at him,

She smiled as he said, that summer and the sun was what got him in the mood for swimming, and that he didn’t like to go swimming at night but if she really wanted to, he guessed he would join her. She laughed a bit and said “Nah, I don’t really feel much like swimming myself,” she looked over to him, and smiled.

After she had mentioned that she wouldn’t mind be carried, by him again and catching up to him, he said that maybe he would carry her back to the common room, when he dropped her off and how did that sound to her. She laughed and then smiled “Well that sounds pretty good, it was fun the first time.” She looked over to him, and then over to the lake as they, walked. She noticed that they had almost walked around half of the lake. She smiled and looked back to him and said “Mm how about we go see this place now, I’m kind of getting bored of walking.” She smiled again.

Danny smiled down at her as he listened to her say that she wasn’t really in the mood to go swimming as well. Danny laughed again as he listened to her talk about him carrying her and that it sounded good to her for him to carry her on they way back to her common room then Danny just smiled down at her. “And this time I’ll stay quite so you can fall asleep.” He said smiling and looked down at her as they walked along the lake. Then she said that they should go see this place because he was kind of getting bored of walking and Danny laughed.

“That sound fine with me.” He said as he turned around to looked back at the castle and finally saw how far they had walked. They were already halfway around the lake and it seemed pretty far from the castle. "Lets get going princesses." He said laughing down at her. Danny smiled down at her then stuck out his tongue at her. “Also I just remember princesses can’t do that.” He said laughing as they walked back to the castle.

Annabella smiled and then laughed a bit, as Danny had commented that this time when he carries, her he will try and be quiet so she can go to sleep. “Well that sounds really good, but what are you going to do, if I do fall asleep and we get to my common room? How am I going to get inside?” she walked a few steps forwards before saying, “Ah I know your going, to use one of your tactics you couldn’t use earlier.” She then laughed a bit as she remembered what those tactics were.

She smiled when Danny agreed, that they could head to this, place now. She stopped walking and watched, as he turned around and looked back towards the castle. He then said for them to get going, adding princess on the end of the sentence. She smiled and began to walk as well; she narrowed her eyes as Danny had stuck his tongue, out at her and then said that he remembered that princesses couldn’t do that. He then proceeded to laugh. She crossed her arms over her chest, and kept walking as she said “You know one of these times, you stick your tongue out at me, I’m might just grab it.” She laughed and then looked up at him.

After a few seconds of silence and walking, Annabella turned to him and asked “So where abouts is this place, and how far is it?”

Danny laughed she asked him what would happen if she fell asleep while he was carrying her. Would he use some kind of tactic or something and then Danny laughed even more. “Well there is this one fool proof way to get you into your common room if you fall asleep and it’s very simple too.” He said smiling. “First I’m carrying you, then I place you on the ground and last I shake you till you wake up and let yourself into the common room.” He said laughing meaning it as a joke about how he would wake her up.

“Well Maybe I won’t shake you but the only plan I have is to wake you up.” He said smiling down at her. “I don’t really have ideas on how to break into a common room.” He said laughing a little. He never thought about how to get into another houses common room and was pretty sure the school made that impossible. Danny laughed as she commented about if he kept sticking out his tongue she might grab it soon. “Well I’ll make sure to do it next time out of your reach.” He said laughing a little and listened to her.

“Well it pretty far, actually after we get to the castle we have to go up seven flights of stairs.” he said laughing. “It’s at times like this I wish Hogwarts had an elevator.” He added smiling down at her then looked forward and them almost being to the castle. “From my common room you have to walk a marathon to breakfast.” He said laughing again and then smiling down at her.

Annabella laughed as Danny explained to her, about how he would get her into her common room, should she fall asleep while he was carrying her. “Well that is an effective way to get me in, I suppose. Or you could just charm Helga into letting you in, if it came down to it.” She said and then laughed as she got an image of Danny, standing in front of the portrait sweet talking Helga. She laughed again and then smiled up at him.

She laughed again as he said, that maybe he wouldn’t shake her but that was the only plan he had, he then added that he didn’t have any ideas on how to break, into a common room either. She laughed more at that and then began, to think to herself was it even possible for a non house member, to either break in or get in without being invited? She didn’t know as it had never been attempted.

She raised her eyebrow as he commented, to her comment about grabbing his tongue next time he sticked it out, saying that next time he would do it out of, her reach. She laughed and said “Hmm what are you going to do? Run far away and then do it?” she laughed after she said that, and smiled up at him.

She laughed a bit as Danny explained to her, about where they were going. And how he wished at times like this that Hogwarts had an elevator. She laughed and nodded and said “If were we had to go was inside the castle, why did we come outside? Seven flights huh? Wow all the way to the top?” she said and laughed afterwards. She looked forward as they walked to see, that they were almost to the doors to go in. She turned to him and laughed when he said, that you have to walk a marathon to get to breakfast, from the common room. She smiled and then said “Mm that’s why you should become a Huffie, Great hall is practically beside our common room.” She then laughed and turned to look at him.

Danny laughed as he listened to her then she said that if it came down to it he could always sweet talk Helga, the Common room portrait, into letting him into the common room. Danny just laughed even more with her then smiled down at her. “I doubt it, she would probably be more mad about me waking her up.” He said laughing again as he knew that some of the portraits in this school hated being waken up. Danny laughed as he listened to her talk about what he was going to do, was he going to run away before he stuck out his tongue again?

“Well I just might do that.” He said laughing then smiling down at her. Danny laughed again as he listened to all her questions. “Well we came out here because it was your idea.” He said laughing a little then smiling down at her. Then laughed again when she said you should have become a Hufflepuff because their common room is right next to the great hall. “I’m sure if they told the first years that the Hufflepuff house would be filled with people.” He said laughing meaning it as a joke and looked forward and they were finally at the castle so he opened the door and held it open for Annabella.

"Well lets go only seven more flights of stairs to go." He said laughing as he held the door open for her

Annabella laughed when Danny said, that the portrait of Helga would most likely get mad at him, for waking her up. “Yeah I guess your right; she does tend to get cranky if you wake her up, even if it is for a good reason.” She said with a nod and then smiled. She laughed again when Danny had said, that he might do that when Annabelle had asked what was he going to do, run away and stick his tongue out. He then laughed and smiled down at her.

“Yeah that’s true,” she said when Danny had said that she was the one, who suggested the lake in the first place. She laughed along with him, and smiled up at him as he smiled down at her. She laughed and shook her head a bit, when Danny said that if it was mentioned to the first years, about the Hufflepuff house being right next door to the great hall, then the Huffie common room would be full of people. She knew he was just making a joke, but it was funny none then less.

She looked forward to discover that they had made it to the castle. She watched as Danny went up to the door, and held it open for her. Saying to her let’s go and they only had, seven flights of stairs to go up now. She smiled and nodded as she walked through the door, stepping into the entrance hall. She looked at the stairs as she waited for Danny to come in, wondering if she could remember what was on the seventh, floor.

[Professor Roger Suivant]

Roger had plenty to think on as he patrolled the corridors. He hadn't met any students yet (although he had met Peeves, who must be about the only thing in his life that hadn't changed since he left Hogwarts so very many years ago), and he found himself wondering whether there really was a reason to deprive staff of sleep other than sheer sadistic administration. Then again, he was a light sleeper now after nearly two many decades of too much sleep... and he could quite well believe that students were still as bad about breaking rules as when he'd been at school, while life had got no safer. If anything, Hogwarts had got less safe from what Amaryllis had said to him. So perhaps there was some reason for him to be out patrolling the corridors. The castle was no warmer at night, that was for certain: Roger wore a thick woollen coat to stop himself catching cold.

He was thinking about how best to encourage students to take up duelling more often. He wasn't getting nearly as many students as he'd heard Amaryllis talking about, and it did bother him slightly. He wasn't here to undo her good work. He just hoped he would get some uptake soon - or he'd have to start taking drastic measures. Roger shook his head to himself - he was starting to sound just as work-obsessed as his wife. Maybe it really was just work keeping her busy - he started to understand that now. But yet again, hurt overcame reason. He had paused in his vigil and his walk past the Great Hall when he was roused by the sound of laughing at the doors of the Entrance Hall. Didn't students know there were much less conspicuous ways to come into the school? Or was discipline just so lax nowadays that they did this sort of thing blatantly? Well, this was why Roger was on patrol. He followed the sounds of laughing straight to their source (it wasn't really hard, even without his Auror training which still kicked into effect easily), which turned out to be a fairly mature-looking Gryffindor boy and a younger Hufflepuff girl. Roger glared at them both.

"What needs to be made clearer about the rules?" he demanded. "Is it the bit about the time of the curfew on being back in the common room? Or that curfew means you musn't leave your common rooms? Or perhaps the principle of following rules? Whatever it is -" Roger addressed the Gryffindor here "- you should know better by now than to be leading other students into trouble. Isn't the student that died last year warning enough that there's more at stake than house points?" He stared at the two of them for a moment before saying. "Thirty points from both your houses, and detention. Mr.-" he waited a moment to give the student an opportunity to disclose his name and then repeated it, "- you with Professor Miller, Miss -" and again he waited, "- you with Professor Foxcroft. Miss Valentine, you aren't far from your Common Room, you may make your own way there; Mr. McKay, I will escort you to the Gryffindor Common Room."

((I hope you two got something out of this post, I've tried to wait for a bit. But not everyone gets away with breaking rules! The idea was that your student should tell him their surname so that he can repeat it, if that bit wasn't clear enough (I'm a little tired to make it clearer). Annabella - I haven't actually checked with Foxcroft, so if he hasn't got time for a post, let me know and I'll organise it instead.
