Sita has a slight, fairly small stature. She is a very pleasant-looking girl, of Indian origin, who has a friendly smile and dimples slightly when she does smile. Her eyes are a very dark brown, which can conceal some of her thoughts but are usually very expressive and very happy. She has a good glower to call upon when particularly annoyed. She has fairly short, curly black hair that she enjoys experimenting with in a variety of styles. When younger, she was a pretty little girl and she is now becoming an equally pretty young woman.
History:
Sita Mehadi is a young Pureblood witch who lives in Mossley, a small town near Ashton-Under-Lyne in Lancashire. Her family lineage is from India, although the wizarding heritage of the family is not particularly strong and nor have the family endeavoured to keep it so. On her father’s side it was her grandparents that moved to Britain and the majority of her mother’s family still live in India, including her maternal grandparents. Sita has strong ties with her Indian background, but overall she feels herself to be westernised and very British. She can imagine no other hometown than the small town of Mossley, built on the foothills of the Pennines.
Despite the fact that Sita comes from a Pureblood family, her parents work for the Ministry and are conducting research for the Ministry of Magic as to how the wizarding community can integrate themselves peacefully into the Muggle one. They are committed to studying Muggle ways of life, Muggle superstitions and beliefs, and the Muggle people themselves, so that they can provide information to help witches and wizards better submerge themselves in Muggle society. They get on well with the local community, and sent their only child, Sita, to the local Muggle primary school. Sita enjoyed herself immensely here, making many friends because of her outgoing nature, if not performing outstandingly academically. However, she worried, knowing that she was showing all the signs of magical ability and would eventually be forced to leave her community to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Sita found a particular friend in the sixth youngest child of her neighbours’ family, Ingrid Lewis. Since Sita was an only child, she needed a playmate at a young age, and who better to fill the vacancy than someone from a large family? It used to be almost impossible to tell whose house is which, for Sita and Ingrid spend so much time at each other’s houses. As Sita got older she began to worry about leaving Ingrid behind when she went to Hogwarts, but then a wonderful thing happened. Sita started to notice Ingrid displaying involuntary magical power as well. It was one thing Sita concealed from her friend for a while, but she did not tell her parents either. The first person she would explain it to would be Ingrid. But first she would have to ensure it was true. Inside Sita held it as a warm hope that her best and closest friend would be coming with her to a strange and frightening new place without her parents. Her wish was granted, for when Sita’s letter came from the great school, she peered next door and sure enough a handsome owl was delivering a crested letter to the Lewis household.
Unfortunately, Sita has gradually lost her best friend as they have gone through Hogwarts together, despite them sharing a dormitory. Perhaps a little of this could be attributed to Ingrid’s growing up and deciding to become all depressive – simply leaving Sita behind in childhood. However, Sita believes the most credit for stealing her friend must go to Aaron Byers, again a Hufflepuff in the same year as them. In first year, they made up a happy group of friends – Ingrid, Aaron, Sita, and of course Gavin – but with Ingrid and Aaron deciding to make a couple, there wasn’t much room left for Sita. She feels quite hurt, but she’s not one to mope for too long and by the end of her fourth year, she had decided to cut her ties with the group entirely, including poor Gavin who was still a good friend up until the end of her third year. Instead, she’s managed to wriggle her way into Billy Brady’s circle of friends, and she intends to stay put – Billy doesn’t have much choice in the matter. Sita does occasionally find him a bit boring, though, and now in seventh year, they only share one class together, so she has also renewed her friendship with Gavin. Sita has secretly (or not so secretly) harboured a crush on Gavin for the past year or so, but Gavin hasn’t shown any signs of being interested. She isn’t about to give up, though…
Personality:
Sita is a happy-go-lucky sort of girl, attempting to remain generally satisfied whatever her lot in life. She considers herself to be quite privileged to have such kind parents and good friends. She doesn’t have trouble making friends, as she is generally an outgoing kind of girl and always very friendly to everyone. She can have problems with trusting people slightly too much, but this has never led to any serious repercussions and she prefers to be slightly naïve rather than being overly suspicious of everyone. She has never been naturally mischievous, but can be coaxed into joining in plans of mischief - as long as she is satisfied it will not lead to anyone feeling hurt or vulnerable. She has a kind and happy disposition and is quite a likeable person. Nevertheless, she can be extremely determined (to get what she wants), and even pretty stubborn.
Petulance, selfishness, jealousy, lack of maturity, vanity – well, Sita has a little bit of all of these traits, but she is essentially kind-hearted and tries to be a good person. Sensitive to other people’s feelings, she is genuinely concerned if she sees someone who is upset, and will always do her best to comfort them. Even if her methods are sometimes a little unconventional, she is often surprisingly successful in cheering people up. She is more afraid of monsters than she is of people, and will always stand up for her friends against bullies.
Sita has a great fondness for the Muggle sport tennis, and is quite talented at it, although it isn’t much use in the wizarding world. Still, it helps her to maintain quick reflexes, and she made the Hufflepuff Quidditch team last year in her first ever audition. She generally likes all types of sport. Her other hobbies include drawing, spending time with friends and a little bit of reading. She isn’t very academic, and struggles a lot in Charms and Transfiguration, but she is very good at Herbology, Potions and Muggle Studies.
