EPHRAIM ELDRIDGE EADES
Just call me E.
The Basics:
House: Ravenclaw
Year: 7
Age: 17
Blood: Half-blood
Wand (length, wood, core): 10 and 3/4 inches, Walnut, Leprechaun Hair
Pet: None
Physical Description:
Ephraim had always been tall for his age. He matured quickly, and until recent years he was one of the tallest boys his age. Now though, he's about average height, if not a bit taller, but he doesn't stand out as much as he used to. Along with his height, his overall appearance is a bit older than his years. He has a square face with a pointed jaw. As well, he has rather wide shoulders, and since he's a very physically inclined person he holds an overall strong build.
His eyes are a vivd shade of blue, and coincidentally, his favourite colour is blue. His hair is a dusted shade of brown, almost teetering on the edge of light brown when in the right light. On occasion, he's seen wearing glasses, but he only has them on when he really needs to wear them since they tend to bother him. Overall, he's a fan of simple yet semi-formal clothing. He has plenty of button-up shirts (all shades of blues with stripes and plaid patterns) and never can have enough plain coloured t-shirts (preferably blue).
Personality:
Ephraim is overall and happy and content. He smiles often and angers seldom. He's a thinker at heart, and always finds himself trying to solve problems, be it the problems of others or just problems in general. As well, he's very much Hufflepuff-like in that he's extremely loyal and protective of his friends. He's not very forward though, and he lacks a sort of inward confidence though he doesn't show this. Sometimes, Ephraim can get so wrapped up in trying to save others and solve their problems that he fails to consider his own. In a way though, his helping others is a way to heal and hide his own pain. Some people might call him too happy, too positive, but for Ephraim, there's no such thing.
In his spare time, Ephraim loves a good book. His mind is like a sponge, soaking in all that it can. Like a true Ravenclaw, he receives top marks in almost all of his classes, Herbology and DADA being his strongest. The one class he does struggle with though is Charms. Perhaps it's his slight lack of common sense as the class is very practical, perhaps too practical for his complex mind. As well, he's an avid fan of watching and playing Quidditch. He loves competition, but in the end he could care less about winning or losing as long as he knows that he gave his best effort.
History:
Born to parents Mason Eades and Lisa Whitherson, unmarried teenagers who became pregnant on accident, Ephraim grew up only knowing his mother as his father decided to move away after raising some money from work and leaving Lisa to take care of her son. Despite Mason's futile attempt to salvage what dignity he had left, Lisa's parents were a wealthy pureblood couple who were able to care for their daughter and her newborn son.
Since Lisa had always been sort of the odd child of the four Whitherson children, she never did leave home until Ephraim started school at Hogwarts. She was certain from when he was a young age that Ephraim would take after her and not his muggle father. Thus, she stayed with her parents, making sure Ephraim grew up with the love and support he needed. Once he was able to attend Hogwarts though, Lisa decided to travel to America to pursue a career in singing. She had never been quite as drawn to the wizarding world as she was to the muggle world, and her dreams were to always go to America and become a singer. Despite the discouragement from her parents, Lisa packed her bags and sadly kissed Ephraim goodbye. She loved him, but in ways she loved the opportunity before her just a bit more. Deep down she was saddened, but she was confident that her parents would take good care of Ephraim, and she was certain that Hogwarts was the best for him. As well, she knew she'd visit often, or as often as she could, depending on how successful she'd be in America.
He took the leaving of his mother hard at first, but Ephraim had always been a positive child. Plus, he shared close relationships with his grandparents, which made the change a bit easier for him. Once at Hogwarts, Ephraim's astounding wit landed him the Ravenclaw house, a place where he found many friends and excelled in classes. At least once a year, his mother would visit, and she'd tell Ephraim of all her American stories. Part of him was always bitter toward her, but he showed her love nonetheless. He didn't hate her for the choice she made, but he still didn't understand it. Still, he made the best of his life and made sure not to dwell on the seemingly negative aspects.
Entering his final year at Hogwarts, Ephraim is still the same free spirit that he has been throughout his time at the school. He’s made some good friends, including his cousin Finn Miles. What he doesn’t know is that his seventh year holds a lot of surprises for him. Will he hold strong under the pressure, or has this beacon of light stumbled into a darkness that will forever extinguish his addictive smile?
