Adalia stands at an average height for a girl her age but her back is always straight and she moves without looking down or slouching in the slightest. When she was younger she carried herself as if she was royalty with the entire country watching, which she believed she was. Though she has become more laid back with the years her old arrogance is still there in full force and occasional glimpses of her old self appear. She has long black hair and eyes such a dark brown they could nearly pass as being black. Her skin is untouched by blemishes or scars and Adalia avoids situations which could alter that in any way such as running around or sitting out in the sun too long. Her lips are a very pale shade of pink which accents the slight rose to her cheeks, natural since she barely wears makeup.

Adalia comes from the noble St John family who can trace their family tree back several centuries. She continues in the family line not breaking the tradition of strong and wilful characters who put themselves, their family, and their advancement as top priority. She considers very few as her equal though in her years at Hogwarts she has made a few friends. Adalia believes she deserves to be respected, pampered, feared, and doted upon for simply being her wonderful self, a mindset her family have always encouraged. Every St John has been raised to know at least something about everybody worth knowing.

Adalia was born while the sun was in the house of Scorpio and exhibits many of the traits associated with it. She enjoys appearing apathetic and is very skilled at hiding her emotions whenever she fears they will betray her. However, as a Scorpio she has an abundance of strong emotions flying just beneath the surface and when pushed too far or even just found on a bad day she can snap.

Adalia has a strong intellect and sharp wit though her ego will often come back to haunt her in arguments. When she feels insulted or someone has wounded her pride she is quick with retribution and slow with forgiveness.

Through her years at Hogwarts Adalia has grown up and now laughs at the attitude she had as a child. She still feels that she is superior to most but she has also come to realise that in order to advance herself she needs to cooperate. Through her efforts to gather social supports Adalia realised that the others her age were not so different from her and spending time with them could actually be enjoyable. This started her slow process of growing up into a fairly average fifteen year old.

Born into the family St John, Adalia Claire René Gabriella was, as the expression goes, born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She was pampered from the first and doted on by her parents, mainly her mother. Adalia’s father worked long hours and was seldom home, but when he was Adalia would oblige him by calling him “Papa” and sitting on his knee. He in turn loved her dearly and referred to her as “his little princess”. Every gift she received had a card attached addressed to “Princess Adalia”. She was given the best of everything and as she grew her mother instructed her in everything she felt was important for young Adalia to know. She taught her the history of the St John family of course and the persecution of wizard kind from the muggles. She was informed of how they were pushed into hiding for fear of their very lives; in turn losing a large part of their culture. She was brought up to despise all muggles and everything associated with them including squibs who were obviously that way out of some fault of their own, the denial of their innate magic most likely. She was also educated in the history and present of all other pureblood families so she would know who to associate with and who she ought to stay away from. Her mother even brought these lessons so far as to school Adalia in the use of a wand when she was only eight years old and it was still illegal.

When not locked away in the study with her mother learning the ways of the purebloods Adalia could usually be found in the library while she was growing up. She adored reading more than almost anything and would allow hours to slip away while lost in some story or other. Because of her love Adalia’s parents enlarged their library to it is now the size of many common muggle homes. She dreams of one day completing all books in the library thought she knows that would take a life time.

She adored shopping as well, though. When out of the house Adalia would always manage to find some place at which she could purchase goods. She has a taste for only the finest though which suits her parents just fine since they wouldn’t allow her any place squalor enough not to provide what she is accustom to. Adalia’s closet could be mistaken for a fashion designer’s studio if someone was just dropped into it suddenly because her clothes are in such abundance and all have such a similar flair.

While at Hogwarts Adalia focuses on her studies and managed to do quite well on her exams the year before. She spends a good deal of time with other Slytherins and the occasional Ravenclaw though she simply cannot understand why anyone would chose to be in Ravenclaw if they are pureblood and therefore able to get into Slytherin. Adalia has not completely abandoned her solitary ways though, and can be found hauled up in the library fairly frequently simply keeping her sanity with her time alone. She also sees no use in bringing a gaggle of girls to the toilet with her or why she cannot show up at a social function alone rather than on the arm of a boy.

This year is Adalia’s OWL year, a big one. As well, she had been made vice-quidditch captain, working with Josephine who was seeker last year. Adalia had been on the team for years and was unsuprised with the decision, though she really wished she could have been captain outright. She was likely put second because she had been on the reserve team after older students, despite being the best keeper on the team, in her opinion. Adalia has vowed to use this year and her responsibilities to prove that she deserves her spot on the main team and the captaincy in the years to come.
