Physical Description:
Josephine is 5’6” in height with long dark brown hair, bordering on black, like that of her father, save it’s much longer. She has delicate, pale skin. She doesn’t really tan nor burn for that matter, just prefers the pale look. Though she probably couldn’t change it even if she wanted to. Then there are her eyes; she has deep blue orbs that are bright and beautiful. They’re just like her father’s, giving her an almost ethereal appearance. She dresses in top of the line outfits made by a witch who’s influence was based on muggle outfits, therefore the clothes look to be far more muggle-like save for the bits and pieces of modern day wizarding garb that have been thrown in. Anything that didn’t result in the constant wizarding robes that adorned them all. Form is athletic, perfectly rounded in ways that make others jealous, but she doesn’t see that in herself. Sees only her sister’s image staring back at her in the mirror and that in itself is harder than anything she cared to admit.
Personality:
Josephine is determined in her ways, forceful in all that she does, and can become obsessive compulsive about things. She puts her emotions on the backburner, giving a cold hard exterior, making her secretive, guarded in all that she does. Powerful and passionate in her studies to find a cure for her sister’s cancer she doesn’t give up, attesting to the fact that she’d do anything, sacrifice everything to find a way to save her family. But when it comes to other people she doesn’t care. Family is her everything. When her father died that was one thing, but when her older sister (the person who practically raised her) was diagnosed with cancer the care and love she had for a family was masked over by a need to find a cure, her sister being the only person to see the vulnerability that is in her heart.
Hobbies/Interests:
Josephine spends her time researching cancer, taking care of her sister when she can, hanging out with her friends, and finding anything she can to take her mind off of the pain that’s inside her. She holds high interest in the classes of Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration, and Divination. She owns her own crystal ball to which she attempts to find a cure through the future…hoping that it can tell her or help her to save her sister now. She only hopes that some day she’ll find a cure, before her sister dies.
History:
Born in April 3rd, 17 years ago, Josephine was the second of the Bowman children. Her father being a squib and her mother having only minimal magical powers, both were pleasantly surprised when all of their daughters showed an affinity for magic, though her father only ever got to know that Brianna, Josephine’s older sister, had powers since he died when Josephine was only 6 years old. Josephine’s powers didn’t show until a few months before her 11th birthday in which she was holding her mother’s wand and sparks flew out of it, setting their household cat’s tail on fire. It was a small event, but one that entitled her to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But let’s step back for a moment.
At the age of 6, life went a bit sour when her father was diagnosed with cancer. It wasn't long before he was taken from this life and with that so was Josephine’s childhood. Her father had meant the world to her, always had and then he was gone…taken from her by a disease that had no cure not even in the wizarding world. It was a huge disappointment, that magic had not saved him, so she decided to devote her life to trying to find a magical cure for cancer. It was her tribute to her father…to what she’d promised. Only she’d forgotten that, or tried to for 10 years until her sister was diagnosed. In those moments she was forced to remember what she had promised.
While at Hogwarts, because of her drive, her ambition, and her belief that no matter what happened or what stood in her way she’d find a cure she ended up in Slytherin, a noble house for her pureblood and the house of many of her ancestors. She made friends there…some the type that you use and throw aside, which she had begun to make a habit of with her need to achieve her goals, but some were actually decent…that understood her and didn’t chastise her for her intensity or her cold demeanor. Now as for the Slytherin vs. School thing, she didn’t care. She was rude to whoever was rude to her, hated the people who hated her, she didn’t give one flying flip what house they were in. If they got in her way then they weren’t worth her time and that’s how she’s survived as one of the more…aggressive Slytherins. The thing that’s changed the most since her sister was diagnosed with cancer however is Josephine’s need to take out her aggression on others, unknown to her sisters. She doesn’t have many outlets for her emotions…on the rare occasion that she allows them out, so anything that ticks her off is what she takes her magic out on.
Josephine's world has changed in the last year or so. Her world fallen into disarray and not even the simple tasks come easy to the young girl. She focuses on two things...the first would be Quidditch and the second her addiction. She's been hiding her addiction to all things dangerous for the last year since her sister's death, but not everything can be hidden. People are going to find out and when they do Jo's life is going to be forever changed. She's not the same girl she used to be...but maybe deep down in her world...somewhere someone might be able to save her and that's the one subconscious thought that drifts through her mind as she continues on a downward spiral that can only leave behind destruction.
