Ruby stands at 5’8” in height, quite tall for a seventeen year old girl. She has an athletic, yet hourglass shaped, build and isn’t the first to admit that she enjoys showing off her form as much as possible. With eyes like her mother, her almond shaped, dark blue orbs hold an almost passive, yet icy persona about them. Thick and long dark brown hair falls around her shoulders, usually straight unless she fells the need to do a little magic hairstyling 101 and curl it with her wand. But these occasions come only once in awhile.
Personality:
Ruby is calm, cool, and collected at all times, though she has a sarcastic, yet humorless, view on life. In her attempt to remain emotionless she actually comes off as being very cynical and full of bitterness, which she may or may not actually possess. The truth to her character is that even when she appears to be self-controlled and calm there is an enraged intensity of emotional power just waiting under the surface, ready to explode out of her. Even though those moments are rare they still exist and all those that are met with the force never repeat the experience.
When socializing she is a pleasant figure. She never speaks without thinking, never thinks without weighing her options, both dignified and reserved yet genial and considerate she is a force to be reckoned with. Intuitive and magnetic she has an amazing ability to manipulate. Her charismatic ways are used well in her times of just watching people, of studying them and analyzing them thoroughly. Sometimes she’s wrong, but when she is she won’t even admit to it.
There’s also a passion that runs deep within her. For anything she puts her mind to she has an underlying passion and need to be the best at it. In truth that fact had always been drilled into her as a child, excel at everything and not to shame the Lehane name. That of course wasn’t too difficult to uphold as she was always concerned with purity of blood and how much further the wizarding community would progress if they stopped hiding in the shadows, how they need to destroy the muggles that destroyed her family.
However, there are far more dangerous qualities to her personality. She can rationalize everything; whether it is genocide or the dementors kiss…whatever it is she can find it the perfect answer. Loneliness is also a major influence in Ruby’s life. Though her brother is a constant in her life, she has a habit of falling quickly and hard for most men that give her attention. They are usually the wrong sorts for her and she sacrifices much for them. However, now she promises to never let that happen again, but there is no denying that much of what she has planned is done out of love for her mother, her father, and her brother. Love can be a very frightening emotion, especially when revenge is involved.
Hobbies/Interests:
Ruby likes reading and writing. She finds researching and spending time in the library to be of great use. She has a fascination with Dark Arts books and already owns a great selection of works to which she will use to create a great library when the world is restored to it’s righteous glory. Quidditch is also an enjoyable experience for her though she is not on the Slytherin Quidditch team. It is more of a recreational hobby for her as opposed to a competitive hobby for her, though she does enjoy throwing a quaffle around with her brother from time to time. One of Ruby’s main interests is her studies, she is obsessed with finishing at the top of her class, obsessed with knowing everything she possibly could learn, to help her in her future endeavors. Right now, that includes unlocking the secrets of a mysterious book…one she knows will be of use to her and her brother.
History:
It was a cold, icy winter night in Dublin, Ireland. The year was 1983, day 25, month December. Christmas. It was a time of giving and receiving, which was probably the most appropriate time of the year seeing as how Patricia Lehane found herself giving birth to not one, but two children. The first was a little girl, head full of hair already, a blonde color, and then the blue piercing eyes. She didn’t even cry. Well not until the midwife gave her a firm slap on the rear end did she cry. That seemed to send the little girl into fits of rage. Her small frame was taken away, held closely by one of the midwives and then twenty-three minutes later the little girl was no longer the one and only child to the Lehane fortune. A young boy, her brother, to be named after his great great grandfather Sir Wyndamir Lehane, followed her. The little girl herself was named after her grandmother, Ruby Rhain Lehane. The birth of two children that night would not be the only joy to come their way however…it was almost apparent, straight from birth. A rare and important trait would appear in the Lehane twins’…more so in Ruby than in Wynd, but it was to be a secret. Both Patricia and William Lehane swore the midwives to secrecy, an unbreakable vow made between all. For the gift was far too rare to be publicized…especially since it meant registration and a part of Patricia Lehane knew that it would come in handy one day in the future.
So there on Christmas night Patricia and William were blessed with two glowing children, one little girl and one little boy. Twins who would one day take over the family fortune. These children were their pride and joy. They weren’t like other rich families that just threw their children in with nannies or babysitters and left to do whatever they cared to do. No, they cared for their children just like their parents before them. So when Ruby took her first step at the early age of 9 months it was a miracle and of course she was making sure to pull her brother along. She wasn’t about to be alone in any of her adventures.
Days seemed to fly by as Patricia and William watched their children go together. Hardly able to separate the two due to their persistence on being together and throwing temper tantrums every time they were separated for more than 5 minutes. Therefore they were never apart. They did everything together. They were happy too. The glowing white smiles of those two children showed brightly in everything they did, especially when all four of them were together, mother, father, brother, and sister. Deep down Ruby thought they’d always be together, just the four of them. She used to always watch her parents perform magic, she remembered their words of wisdom to her. Always told her that, “The best magic comes from those with the purest of blood.” It was true. Her parents, of course, were purebloods, from ancient lines too and they had the best magic out there. She had been transfixed by it; always playing with the small toy wand her mother had given to both her and her brother when they turned four.
Of course that was before everything happened…before their family was ripped apart at the seams. It was at this age that a simple family trip to London went awry. It was late one night and Patricia and William were holding their children in their arms, a hand waving out to call a cab. It was the normal thing to do. After all they couldn’t expose their identities to muggles, but the cab would never be called for as two muggle men came out of the shadows, wielding weapons. They tried to act normal…they tried to as best they could, but when the men attempted to hurt them, William did the most natural thing to him and he pulled out his wand, wanting to protect his family. The men quickly punched him hard and grabbed Ruby away from him. At that time Patricia lost it. Her husband hurt, her children threatened she took the only course of action left to her. She pulled out her wand and said the unforgivable curses. Their bodies fell, Ruby screamed in tears, but she did not fall as her father recovered in time to save her from falling with a spell. It was at that moment that the officials showed up…almost immediately after it happened. The Lehane’s fought hard to combat the Ministry on their immediate decision to send Patricia away…to Azkaban. No matter how hard they fought, however, no one believed them to be victims in the assault. Who really could? The Lehane’s were known for their dislike of muggles and muggle born wizards and witches; they had been caught more than once at the wrong end of a wand because of the way they treated them. It was easy for them to assume it was a mere game in the Lehane’s plans.
Four years old. That’s how old Ruby and Wynd were when their mother was taken away from them, treated as a criminal and imprisoned in Azkaban. They haven’t seen her since. Every now and then they’ll get an owl…but they’re usually destroyed, hardly legible. The officials said it was a safety thing, but they didn’t know why it was. Things seemed to get rough for the small family. Without their mother around, William became antisocial, sad. It was hard for the young children to watch, especially Ruby. She turned away, leaning mostly on her younger brother for support. Her mother was gone, the only other mother figure she had. Other than her grandmother who would come to pass away only a few short months after the children turned seven. So Ruby had no one to look to. The only thing she could do was turn on the muggles that destroyed her family. Her father would tell her how right her mother was to kill those muggles for what they were doing. He told her to never believe any other rumor that was said about her and of course Ruby never would. She would hold that beloved image of her mother in her mind, forever and always. And she’d send her owls out to her mother everyday, whether they ever got there or not was a whole different story.
Life seemed to shine a little more brightly the summer before Ruby turned twelve. It was at this time that Wynd and herself received their letters to Hogwarts. Those beautiful acceptance letters that meant they would be able to practice their own magic. So there they were in school, the best school there was, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Arriving at the school Ruby found her place immediately, being sorted into the noble house of Slytherin. It was the perfect place for her, the one place where she could be herself with her hatred for muggles and those with close relations with them. However it wasn’t just Ruby there, her brother followed immediately right behind her, the duo unable to be separated even at Hogwarts.
Ruby found her place in Hogwarts quickly, learning to weed out the mudbloods and halfbreeds from the pureblood students. Unfortunately she found that more and more of these second rate wizards were around than she thought. Her blood seemed to boil with this knowledge, her mind always flashing back to her mother…to the very destruction of her family from those muggles. All she wanted to do was get rid of them all, to rid the world of the horror of them. That’s why she supported the Dark Lord’s efforts to do so, but unfortunately when he was killed last year she found that she was forced to do it herself, with her brother along side her of course. Nothing would happen right away…no Ruby knew better than to draw attention to herself. She wasn’t like other Slytherin students who flew off the handle and did whatever they wanted whenever. Ruby was more meticulous than that. She preferred waiting…drawing out a detailed plan that would insure her success.
As a sixth year at Hogwarts Ruby’s plans of success began to unfold, especially when pureblood elitist, Pyro Blackfire, joined her cause. It was a perfect moment for the Lehane’s. It was everything they could have asked for and more. He would be the perfect ally and maybe more if things came down to it. A lot of her time was focused on schoolwork however. Before her OWLs Ruby Lehane had been one of the few students in the history of Hogwarts that had been eligible to maintain a time turner, allowing her the opportunity to attend all the classes that were being offered for her year. It was extremely difficult for her, but she loved it. Had a passion for learning. As a sixth year however, she had elected to return the time turner and focus on more specific classes, classes that she was far better at than taking the ones she didn’t find necessary. As it is her best classes are Transfiguration, for reasons best left unknown to the public at this time, and of course Charms. Ruby is also a Prefect and is highly regarded amongst her classmates. Her attitude around others is not that of superiority, but more of priority. She seeks knowledge and the power that comes with knowledge…though she holds her own priorities as well.
Ruby and Wynd have now turned seventeen…they are of age in the wizarding world and are able to practice magic outside of school. Now that summer is upon them and their seventh and final year at Hogwarts rushing toward them, their plans are one step closer to commencing. This year will be the year that begins their ascent, the year that brings them closer to fulfilling their destiny, but a problem will arise. For the Lehane’s, destiny will begin this year, but for one of them this year will set in motion the chain of events that will lead to their destruction.
Their seventh year is over...for Ruby Lehane everything is coming to a head. The world is about to be changed, but are they the ones that are going to change it? Both herself and her brother have been asked to join the Ministry and neither of them will deny. This is what they were hoping for, what they were longing for. Their plans are unfolding and as another joins their world they must remember that there are still those out there that would ruin their plans.
