Biography: Cassandra never believed that her life would end up like it has. Growing up in Birmingham, she lived like a poor muggle believing that she was one herself. Her father, sick with lung cancer, caused much hardship on her family with the rising medical bills. So, it seemed like a miracle when she received her letter from Hogwarts when she was eleven, and it was even more of a miracle that they could afford it. Always a shy girl, she was amazed when the Sorting Hat put her in Gryffindor house the night she sat upon the wooden stool in front of the school. The girl, who had been an outcast for most of her life, had mingled wordlessly into the crowd of red hoods as the applause died away.
Cass mostly kept to herself the first few years at Hogwarts. She was a quiet girl, and didn’t meet people easily. In fact, her first real friendship was with a boy from
Slytherin house, Pyro Blackfire. The two actually became rather close in her third year at Hogwarts. It was scandalous because of the animosity between the two houses. Unfortunately, the two drifted apart because of a mysterious book that Pyro wanted at any cost.
Daniel Logton, Cassandra’s father, died the Christmas of her third year. Heartbroken and sad, she withdrew into her shell, only reaching out to Liam Angelus, a fellow Gryffindor. Cynthia Logton, her mother, was able to go on after her father’s death. Soon after his death, Cynthia began to clean the house of Daniel’s memory. Dana Coran, a friend of Cassandra, had volunteered to help the family. While doing so, she uncovered the family’s secret. The Logtons were actually a part of the Blackfire family, a long line of pure blood Slytherins who were known to be as unstable as they were evil. With her hand forced, Cynthia told her daughter the truth. During Voldemort’s initial reign, her parents, along with her older brother Craig, vanished from the wizarding world to protect a yet unborn Cassandra.
Shocked and dismayed, she confronted Pyro with her only evidence, a family album that showed the Blackfire Family Tree. Pyro took some convincing, but eventually came to accept that Cassandra was his cousin. This one meeting set off a chain of events that have since drastically changed both their lives.
Cynthia had decided she wanted to reclaim the Blackfire name. Being a pure blood Slytherin herself, she wanted the power that she once had. Cynthia dipped into the savings that she had hidden from her daughter for so long. She built a large house in Hogsmeade, and began placing herself back into the wizarding elite. It was almost more than Cass could handle. After being poor for so long, she found it intoxicating that she could buy or have anything she wanted. Never again would she have to wear second hand robes or buy used school books. She was a Blackfire, and it was about time that she acted like it.
Charles Blackfire, angered that his sister-in-law had come out of hiding, bided his time. Knowing that their time was up, Craig struck a deal with Charles about Cassandra. He would give up the location of his mother, but he had to ensure Cassandra’s safety. Accepting the bargain, it was only a matter of days before Charles and several cronies attacked their home. Charles demanded that Craig kill his own mother. After that, he then locked Craig in the home and then set it ablaze.
At the wake, Cassandra was told by her Uncle that she was going to live with his family at Blackfire Manor. She was stunned. As she packed her bags for the Christmas holidays, she prepared herself for the abuse that was to come. Luckily for her, Craig Blackfire had been smarter than he seemed. Craig had made Charles swear under an Unbreakable Vow that he would never let any harm come to Cass. This had been her one saving grace.
Cass, now in her fifth year, has been living with the Blackfires for two years when it happened. She remember what Caiest had told her about the book that she had tried to keep from Pyro so long ago. According to what she was told, the book was filled with dark magic, but it did contain a way to bring the dead back to life. Determined, she tried to wrest the item away from her cousin to no avail. It seemed that she was coming into the Slytherin she was actually meant to be.
Shortly after this, Charles Blackfire was found dead in his study at Blackfire Manor. Cass found her Uncle after returning from a shopping trip with her Aunt and Alex Ricci. She had always known that Charles had killed her mother and brother. Now, her revenge had been taken away from her. She knew at this point that she would have to get her revenge in other ways, and becoming something she had always despised was not the way to do it. She would now need to extract her revenge on the Blackfire family itself.
On August 1, 2000, Cassandra married Julian Fallon at the Golden Wand in Knockturn Alley. Even though they had began their romance while at Hogwarts, the drunken nuptials had surprised many in the wizarding. After much debating, the two decided to stay married. Now, as she she heads back to Hogwarts for her final year, she worries about what the future will bring.
