He was still smiling as he remembered the looks on the faces of the group of second years that he threatened out of the common room. Since when did Slytherins cluster together and form study groups anyways? Either way, he wanted some alone time with Fiona, and that's what he had succeeded in getting.
Kennedy was slouched in one of the deep green leather couches that was adjacent to the fireplace. His legs were bent, feet resting on the nearby table. Fiona's head was in his lap, the orange flames casting a glow that danced against her pale skin and auburn locks. In that moment, he was happy that things were back to normal with them. For the longest time, it seemed that normal had only been an illusion of the past. Kennedy had started to believe that a moment like this was just an unreachable future. But it wasn't.
"I got an owl from dad today," he said, his voice breaking the silence that had surrounded them. He ran a finger along the side of her face, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear as he explained more. "He just got a new litter of crups for his studies. He said that if I wanted, I could have one. What do you think?" He waited to hear her response.

Fiona sighed softly as she watched the orange flames dance in the fireplace. She couldn’t be more content as she glanced up at Kennedy. Her head was in his lap, her body stretched across the couch, hands clasped together on her stomach. It was peaceful, to be lying there, so close to Kennedy. It was probably the best feeling she’d had all day, just being able to spend time with him was something new. Things had been so rough for the both of them and now that they were finally getting their lives back to normal it was refreshing. There wasn’t any drama…no one was trying to kill them, no one was trying to get a blasted book from them, and best of all there wasn’t an annoying Gryffindor trying to steal him from her. Things were perfect, well as close as they were going to get.
The Common Room was empty and quiet. The only sound was their own breathing and the soft crackle of the flames. She could hear his pulse when her head was turned toward the fireplace. It was a strong thudding and she could feel her heart try to match the beat of his. Most silences were awkward, but between the two of them it was comfortable…comfortable and content. A soft smile slid across her face as she turned to look up at him as he spoke, warmth spreading across her face where his finger touched her skin. Her heart seemed to thud quickly against her chest as she watched his face. There wasn’t anyone more attractive to her…no one that was more fascinating. Truth was that Fiona was head over heels in love with Kennedy and she always would be. No matter what went down between them she’d always love him and her green/blue eyes showed that emotion quite clearly as she listened to him, soaking up every one of his words and facial movements. She was memorizing him and loving every moment of it.
“I think I can manage a little crup running around. What do you think? Do you want to take care of one? Save it from your father’s studies? They are definitely good to have around if Muggles are upon us, but are you wanting to put that much time into one…you might give it more attention than you will me,” she forced her bottom lip out in a seductive pout trying to hide the humour that was just below the surface. Her eyes sparkled with the amusement as she traced Kennedy’s jaw line with one of her fingers, then across his lips and down his chin, neck, and chest.

"You're right," he conceded. "It probably would be a pain in the ass to take care of the little bugger." He laughed at her comment about him possibly paying more attention to the crup than to her, and he felt a rise of pleasure when she gave him her typical Fiona pout, her hand mirroring his own as it fell from his face to his neck. "Ahh, but the crup wouldn't have your eyes. Or those lips," he added gently pressing his finger to her mouth. He felt her hand move to his chest, and he resisted the urge to join her horizontal state on the couch. It had been at least a few good days since their last snogging session; much too long for his liking. It was difficult to talk about simple things like his father's animal testing when he simply wanted to pounce on Fiona like an animal himself.
His eyes had found a small sliver of skin that was uncovered at the place where Fiona's waistline met the bottom of her shirt, and it was hard to look away. However, he managed, finding her eyes again as he interlocked his fingers with hers, an extra precaution for his wandering hands. Honestly, he would be perfectly fine spending every hour of his day enjoying Fiona and the love he had for her, but he knew he must practice control. Never let your emotions get the best of you, right?
"I suppose I could keep one at home," he mused, backtracking to their conversation. He was almost certain that Fiona was having just as hard a time concentrating as he was (or so he hoped). "Would be too much though to have it here at school. What, with Quidditch and classes and all. And of course I wouldn't want to spend any less time with you.
He finally succumbed to his urges, sliding out from under Fiona's resting head and laying beside her on the spacious leather couch, his left elbow resting against the cushion, head held up by his hand as he took a closer look at Fiona's features. Her smile was growing, as was his own, and he leaned in to kiss her, just a small peck of affection at first. "Do you think we'll spend forever together?" he asked, the conversation taking a turn from its light-heartedness. "Or perhaps a better question is: do you want to? I mean, we're only sixteen after all. We still have a lot of life ahead of us."

Fiona’s pout gave way to a seductive smirk as she watched Kennedy. There were so many things running through her mind as her breath caught in her throat. His words hardly reached her ears; she was more concerned over the touch of his hand as his finger touched her lips. The temperature in the Common Room seemed to have skyrocketed for those few seconds as Fiona tried to regain an iota of control. She’d lost interest in whatever they were discussing, her hand resting on his chest instead, completely absorbed in his movements. It was obvious how tense the atmosphere had become as both tried to control what little restraint they had. Not that Fiona wanted to restrain herself, but more out of the fact that she wasn’t big on putting on a display for the entire Slytherin Common Room should anyone saunter in, especially any Prefects.
“I wouldn’t want you to spend any less time with me either,” she breathed out in a soft husky tone. It was only seconds after that comment that Kennedy finally pulled up from the couch, Fiona moving only slightly to allow for him to join her in her horizontal position on the couch. The soft smile on her face was growing wider as she mirrored his lying position. Her arm holding her head up as the other hand moved slowly across his chest, the slightest sense of amusement glinting in her eye. His lips touched hers and the amusement slipped away replaced by something far more wanton.
The soft kiss was just the beginning of what Fiona wanted in those moments, but it seemed Kennedy’s mind was slowly moving away from the snogging session Fiona was hoping for. His words making her tense only slightly as the corners of her mouth turned up in a soft smile. It was just like Kennedy to bring up the matter of eternity when they were being so intimate. Fiona inched closer to him before moving her arm out from under her, laying on her back completely to look up at his face, her one hand still moving slowly across his chest in a soft caress. “Are you asking me to marry you?” Fiona mused in a soft teasing voice, her hand moving to cup Kennedy’s cheek. “Because you know I will. I don’t ever want to be without you Kennedy. So we’re sixteen it won’t change how I feel about you five years from now…ten years…no matter what happens I will always love you.”
Bluish green orbs found his dark eyes and she raised just enough to kiss his lips softly. These were the moments Fiona truly cherished, when both of them could just spend time together without the unnecessary drama that had plagued them for years’ prior. This was a time when they could just forget everything and be themselves…finally find happiness in their love for each other. Her hand was still pressed gently against his cheek as she watched his face, waiting mostly for his own declaration of unending love and devotion.
