Bundled in his warm jacket and long-johns Pink decided to walk around the Hogwarts grounds on this fine winter afternoon. The sun twinkled off the snow and he could see footprints being covered by the snow that was now falling. He could hear the snow crunch beneath his boots. He could see a couple fellow first years making a snowman next to the frozen lake. Thinking of the school's beauty and how it looks like a castle in a winter wonderland. "Beautiful." he whispered to himself. He enjoyed how the icicles hung from the roof like stalactites in a cave. The most beautiful thing were the lights coming from the castle in the dead of the night casting glowing shapes onto the snow below.
Wondering of his family's Christmas and how it was going wishing he could be with them but since they were going to Japan to visit his uncle he would have to stay at Hogwarts this year. His uncle was a zoologist studying the panda and its habits. His goal was to find a way to keep it from going extinct. It was okay though he enjoyed seeing the school in the cheer of Christmas. The wonderful trees in great hall, the decorations in the teacher's classrooms, and the common room. He especially enjoyed sitting by the common room fire with a good book and a cup of hot coffee.
Deciding to get a better view of the grounds Pink decided to climb a bare and dead tree. When he was nearly to the top his boot slipped and he nearly fell tumbling to the ground. Catching himself at the last minute he could feel his knees slam against the trunk of the tree. Pulling himself onto the branch, he set himself in the nook of the branch that looked oddly like an elbow. Looking below he saw the giant octopus in the Black Lake break a huge hole in the ice. He heard a few people below screaming as they had snowballs thrown at them. He could smell pine and cooking food coming from the Great Hall. If he focused enough he could he the centaurs down in the Forbidden Forest preparing in their own way for the winter solstice.
He ended up dosing off and fell asleep the the cheerful sounds of the laughing students below for about fifteen minutes. Waking to the snowflakes falling on his face he nearly fell off the branch. He wiped the snowflakes off his face and climbed out of the tree. He was just jumping down when a snowball hit him in the back of the head. Sending snow down his jacket and sending chills up his spine.
