Just another day (Julian)

[Cole Waters]

A slight breeze blew through Diagon alley. The gray was speckled with clouds and the sun seeped through the holes it could find. The streets of Diagon Alley weren't as packed as they should have been with school approaching. The weather forced many people to want to stay indoors. One of the few people who braved the weather was Cole Waters. He walked through the streets alone, wearing his usual black robes. His hair fell into his eyes as he walked, but was quickly moved by the passing wind. It was getting shaggier then he normally would have let it get and he was sure Dawn would request he cut it before the wedding. Oddly enough with all the planning of the wedding and his additional Qudditch training, Cole realized he didn't have the time to go get his hair cut. Smiling at the look that would bestow Dawn's face as she walked down the isle to see his hair in his eyes, he decided maybe he should get one soon.

Turning onto the main street, Cole looked at the windows as he passed the shops. So many different things flashed by Cole's view, until one thing caught his eye. Stopping in front of a big glass window Cole found he almost had his nose pressed against it as he looked in at what seemed to be a new coffee shop. He hadn't heard anything about the new shop being built but there it stood in front of him. With mild curiosity Cole made his way to the front door and opened it, stepping inside.

A bell rang as he walked in and realized the shop was empty. A man looked up at him and Cole quickly began to turn, "I'm sorry I though you were open." he said as he began to open the door again. The man put his hand up and said "Oh no we are, it's out first day. Just a bit slow that's all." Cole turned back around and said, "Oh ok then. So I can sit anywhere?" The man grinned and said "Any where you want." Without a reply Cole made his way to the back of the room. All the tables were round and had two seats to each one. The walls were tan with green trim. Cole sat down and the man walked up to him with a newspaper and said "What can I get for you?" Cole looked at the menu on the wall quickly and said "Just a coffee, two sugars and a cream." The man set the paper down on the table and made his way to the counter.

Picking up the paper Cole instantly went to the sports section. Before he could get a chance to read it though he heard the bell ring from the door and he instinctively looked up to see who it was.

Alone in Diagon Alley was not how Julian planned on spending his second day as a married man. But then again, he had not expected to be a married man at seventeen either. Damage Control was what his father considered his trip to be today. Julian guessed he could consider it that, as he searched Diagon Alley for Rita Skeeter. That blasphemous woman had written about them in the Prophet and had actually gotten a small spot on the front page with her story. Accusing that Cassandra could possibly be pregnant, they might have married in an intoxicated spur of the moment, but they had been careful otherwise, or at least as far as Julian could remember they had been careful. He also had plans of going by the Golden Wand and talking to not only the goblin that leaked the story to Skeeter, but also to his supervisor. Julian had been in the Golden Wand enough to know that things such as marriages that took place there, and jewelry sales were supposed to be confidential. He had left the house this morning shortly after Cassandra. He was glad to see that her best friend Solitaire had agreed to join her on the shopping trip. He had also insisted that Solitaire buy herself some things at his expense since she had agreed to show Cassandra around the small town and he wasn't able to be there.

Julian's cup of coffee before leaving this horrid morning was starting to wear off leaving him fatigued as he had already been through Hogsmeade seeing if Skeeter was there trying to find the next big scoop or more on the story behind Julian and Cassandra. He knew well enough that she wouldn't give up until she was able to smear dirt all over a simple marriage. He found a nice new little coffee shop appearing to be open, but he wasn't sure. He turned the handle and entered the quiet coffee shop. It was almost completely empty with the exception of someone sitting at one of the tiny tables. He recognized the gentleman sitting at the table as a past graduate and a fellow Slytherin. If his memory served him, it was Cole Waters. He noticed Cole had the paper in his hand and it looked like it was today's edition of the Daily Prophet. Leave it to Skeeter to have the story ran more than one day for those that didn't see it yesterday.

"Coffee please, three sugars only." Julian said as the man who appeared to be the owner turned asking him if he wanted anything. He found a table near Cole, and sat down quietly. "Anything interesting in the paper?" He asked casually. Julian was having a hard day, and wasn't going to make matters worse by offending anyone.

Cole recognized the young man that entered the shop as Julian Fallon, a fellow Slytherin. Although Cole had graduated, he still remembered most of the younger Slytherin's that were at Hogwarts. Taking his eyes off Julian he continued to read the sports section of the paper. The Cannon's lost, of course, and United had won by a landslide. Turning to the last page of the sports something caught Cole's eye in the bottom corner, it was his name. Folding the paper in half he began to read the small article titled "Sport's Rumors."

Not much has gone on in the Quiditch world this week except for one possible pickup by three different teams. It seems that local Hogwarts graduate Cole Waters isn't a sure thing for the Foulmouth Falcons. Recent leaks by an anonymous source says that Waters is also in contract talks with Puddlemere United, the Wimbourne Wasps, and in a long shot the United States team Sweetwater All-Stars. The source says the All-Stars are an unlikely candidate for Waters but they are in need of a Keeper after the accident that happened last season to their former Keeper, Scott Johnson. We will keep you updated as to what happens of this situation.

Cole chuckled to himself after he read the article. He couldn't believe that people were actually that interested in where he played quidditch. Most of all he can't believe someone actually leaked he had been talking to other teams than the Falcons. Even though the owner of the Falcons knew he wasn't sure where he wanted to play, Cole didn't think that the fans would want to know that. Putting the paper down he took a sip of his coffee. Then he noticed Julian sit down beside him. It had been a while since they had talked and when he asked Cole if there was anything interesting in the paper Cole just laughed. "It's all garbage." Smiling he took another sip of his coffee. Turning to Julian he asked "So how's everything going? It's been a while." Cole had never had any problems with Julian, he actually liked him, which was different because Cole found alot of people very annoying.
