The meeting was to be held at a nice, fancy, restaurant. Mack felt out of place, but that wasn’t anything new. Well, the restaurant was new. So new that Mack hadn't realized that it was a nice restaurant – as in dressy nice. Apparently, Nicole Quincy-formerly-Gellar knew, though. Mack looked down at her own faded blue jeans, red tank top, and gray jacket, and then looked at Nicole's nicely pleated cream colour skirt with brandy coloured silk top. Mack wore converses, Nicole wore Jimmy Choos. Mack had her hair down and kinked, Nicole had hers up in an elegant French twist. There were not too completely contrasting people in the entire planet more than those two women sitting at the beautifully set dining table.
Everyone else looked nice, too. Tommy wore a business suit, tie and all. Nelson wore his usual pinstriped suit with a silk tie and expensive dress shoes, he even had some gold jewellery glittering on his wrist and in his ear. This was a business meeting, and thus Mack wondered why Nicole was there anyway. She was just the receptionist, wasn't she? To keep herself from asking this question, Mack put her glass of water to her lips and sipped from it – her blue eyes never leaving Nelson as he took his time ordering his food. She had ordered the lobster, deciding to make the bill as expensive as possible, and was quite surprised when Tommy ordered the same with. Nicole, not so surprisingly, ordered a salad with fat free dressing.
Finally, Nelson finished ordering and handed the menu over to the waiter. The young man turned away and headed back to the kitchen. Then there was a slight silence around the table, which no one wanted to break. Mack, after another sip of her water, opened her mouth to say something but she was quite interrupted by Nicole; "So, I heard from Libba today regarding the press benefit next week…" Mack felt anger well up inside of her as she sat back in her seat, crossing her arms over her chest and watching the newlyweds with a look of anger. Tommy patted Nicole's hand, sort of condescendingly, "Later, honey. Right now we have to talk about reinstating Mack at G-Major." Controlling the smirk that was spreading across her face was harder to do than she imagined.
"Right, right," Nelson replied with a clear of his throat, "Mack, you have made quite the reappearance here in London. With the way you left, though, there is much that needs to be addressed and…understood. Now, when you left you signed over all music rights to us, which we've kept locked up. Libba's even remade some of your music, bu---" Mack held up her hand, sitting up at the edge of her chair, "Wait, what?! She remade some of my music? That's totally unfair!" Nelson gave Tommy a look that was somewhat along the lines of 'I told you so,' before he replied calmly; "You signed over all rights, Mackenzie. It was legal. They didn't do so well, of course, but we did it." Mack looked flustered and sat back again.
"Now, as I was saying – if you are to be signed back on with G-Major there are a few things you're going to have to do. As in, working with new people…doing whatever events I say…no questions asked. If I cut a track, I cut a track. You will produce with Tommy for your first album back and if you prove yourself afterward, you can produce your own. You cannot leave G-Major without finishing two albums, and if you do, we will sue," Nelson sipped from his wine and stared at Mack, waiting for her to say something. She didn't. She just sat there. Not quite sure what to say.
