The problem with having a barbecue and a cheeky owl was that the bird would always try and sneak off with a burger or a sausage while your back was turned. This was exactly what was happening in the Flynn back garden at eleven o’clock on Saturday. The family had this barbeque every single month, inviting family and friends from nearby when they could. Heather would deck the outside tables with delicious potato salads and couscous mixtures, Isaac would crack open a million different beers or home-made apple ciders, and Oscar would get to work on his famous barbeque. And his owl, Herra, would always try to steal the food. It was what Oscar always did at the gathering; cook the meat. And it was what she always did too; fly in and somehow steal it from the grills. But not today. Today Oscar had a plan.
“Melanie! Frank! Come here, I’ve got something for you to do.” Oscar beckoned to his cousins, both seven. They’d been pestering him all day for something to do and finally he had the solution. Obediently they trotted over and looked up at him with their big wide eyes, full of love for the older boy.
“What?! What is it! Tell us Oscar, tell us!” The excitement was unconcealed in their voices. With their lips pulled into large grins, Oscar knew he had them.
“Are you sure you’re ready for this? It could be dangerous. You might get hurt… ooh I just don’t know if you’re rea-” He teased, a smile playing with his lips.
“Nooo! We are! We are! We are ready Oscar, pleeaasee!”
“Alright then. You see Herra, my bird?” He didn’t look at the small owl, but knew without checking that she was perched behind him on the wooden fence that sealed off their garden from the rest of the neighbourhood. Frank and Mel nodded, eyes wider than ever. “Right. Well she’s being a very naughty owl-” Behind Oscar, Herra hooted indignantly. “And she’s trying to steal your burgers from my barbeque!” Frank’s mouth dropped open in shock. “Yep, that’s right. Now what I want you to do is go inside and…” Oscar leant forward and whispered into the children’s ears, instructing them on his plan. It was perfect.
When he pulled back their eyes were twinkling. They were very much like Oscar himself; always up for an adventure, ready to take part in anything. They wanted so much to please their older cousin that he knew they would take this particular task in their stride. They were after all, the best trouble-making little twins he had ever known. As they ran off in direction of the Flynn’s house, Oscar turned back to his barbeque and owl. Her eyes were studying him apprehensively. She was a brilliant owl. His family and friends at the barbeque often wondered why on earth he had this owl; of course he couldn’t tell them all that she was his personal postman and went with him to a magical school every year to cast spells and ride broomsticks... So they were just told that she loved him enough to come out of the nocturnal habit that all owls lived in, and the fact she was always on his shoulder or by his side was just a strange coincidence. And of course she couldn’t understand him when he spoke to her; the fact that he always did so was just like making ‘conversation’ with a dog or a cat. The owl couldn’t actually understand his conversation… or could she? It certainly seemed that she could understand what Oscar had said to his cousins. Although he’d made sure that she didn’t hear the main part of their plan, her expression on her little face now made if obvious that she didn’t approve of what he’d put the cousins up to; even if she didn’t know what it was. Herra’s head was cocked sideways, her disapproving tiny eyes drilling into Oscar. “Oh shutup silly. If you didn’t take all of our food we would have to take legal action against you, as Frank and Mellie are now.” He grinned falsely at his owl. “Cheer up chuck.” He added, and softly scratched her on the chin, returning to his cooking. He was oblivious to the fact that while he had been talking to the kids, Herra had stolen a large, fat pork-and-apple sausage.
For a few moments the garden was peaceful. The guests that had arrived a little early (the barbeque was set to start at half eleven) were mostly family, and they buzzed around comfortably, beers in hand. The pile of meat on Oscar’s large barbeque sizzled softly and the sun beat down on everyone, hot for the first time in days. The meaty smell was already wafting around the spacious garden and the Gryffindor boy noticed several heads turn curiously, hungry people waiting for the food. Oscar had been nibbling on the grated cheese since he began that morning, and he was reaching for the tub again when a large crash came from behind him. He spun around and a grin was immediately in place on his face as he saw what had caused the sound. Mellie came from the conservatory doors first, two army strips drawn with marker on her cheeks, just below her eyes. She was clutching a massive water-gun in her hands. Before long Frank jumped through the doorway too, similar war-paint decorating his face, and an even larger ‘Aqua Blaster 5000’ strapped to his torso.
The two warriors ran straight for the barbeque, water-guns at the ready. The unsuspecting Herra watched them with shocked eyes. She was so surprised she failed to take-off properly, and instead nearly fell clumsily from the fence. Mel shot a steady stream of water straight at the owl, which just missed her. But Frank wasn’t so unlucky- he caught her right in the centre of her feathered torso. With an angry hoot she took to the sky and headed for the house- Melanie and Frank close behind. When they reached the steps that went around the side of the house both children let out long streams of water form their guns. But their aims were not perfect- Herra dodged, and the water was released just as a short skinny girl dressed in bright colours came round the corner. Both attacks hit her full-on and in moments she was drenched.
“Ellie! Oh sh**, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault…” Despite the fact that the younger girl was now soaked, her light-blonde hair dripping wet, Oscar could not keep the laugh out of his voice. He had hurried over when he’d seen her come through the corner and now stood before her in fits of laughter. Beside him, Mellie and Frank were watching the girl’s reaction with guilty expression. However the fact that their older cousin was laughing made them feel a little better, and before long they too were giggling. “Oh Merlin’s beard. Mam’s got tons of clothes inside- not surprisingly- please, come pick through them. Bruce!” This last call was to his uncle, who glanced up from his conversation as Oscar shouted out to him. Oscar pointed to the barbeque (which somehow now had a few more burgers missing from it since he was last there) and shouted a thanks as Bruce nodded, grinning slightly as he saw the soaked Elsie Covens.
With another chuckle, Oscar beckoned his younger friend inside. “Oh dear. I apologise, for I did put Mellie and Frank up to that. Herra was nicking all the meat, and it’s good stuff too, the guests always love it. We’ve got some great minted lamb burgers, you can try one once we…” He stifled another laugh. “Once we get you dry. It’s great to see you though- I’d hug you, but, well, I’m not too keen on getting wet just yet. Are you here alone?” He spoke casually as he led Elsie into the house.

"Ellie? Elsie? ELSIE!" The sudden shout from her mother calling her name broke through the almost too loud sounds coming from the earphones connected to Elsie's iPod shuffle. Ellie ripped one earphone out and huffed. "Whaaa-aaaat?" she complained, drawing the word into two long syllables. Melissa raised one eyebrow and folded her arms across her chest. "Don't start with me, Elsie. Go put Sparrow in the back, and then I want you to roll down the windows, not all the wa-" "I know, I know, just enough so Sparrow does fall over from heatstroke or something. Come on Sparrow -- no don't! Stop! Sparrow! Stupid! Come back here!" Sparrow took off running back into the Hotel as Ellie tried to attach his leash onto his collar. Ellie was utterly clueless as to why her parents insisted on bringing Sparrow, their daft dog, on a business trip to England. As excited as she was to see her friend Oscar outside of school, she didn't want to spend the whole car trip with her drooling dog who desperately was in need of a bath before they went anywhere. And yet, that's exactly what had happened.
Ian, Ellie's father, thought he could make his business trip somewhat like a family outing. He and Oscar's mother were developing an Eco-friendly clothing line, so they were constantly over at each other's home, with their family's, so Ellie got to know Oscar well, thinking of him as an older brother almost.
"Soph! Katie! Come here and help me!" Ellie called to her two little sisters, as she struggled to grab a hold of the wriggling Sparrow again. The two twins ran over and held onto Sparrow while Ellie managed the snap on the leash. "Thanks." Muttered Ellie. The jumping dog tugged and pulled at the leash, before sitting down and scratching his ear. "Ugh come on Sparrow, Mam's going to start throwing sandwiches at me soon if we don't hurry up." Ellie finally got Sparrow to the car, and Sparrow jumped into the back. Ellie then went around the car and hopped into the backseat next to her sisters, and then put her earphone back in her ear. It wasn't a very long trip fro the Hotel to Oscar's home, but it was longer than Flooing. Ellie tried to convince to her parents that Flooing to Oscar's house was faster, but they thought the floo powder wasn't very eco-friendly.
Sophie and Katie were complaining - more than they had on the way to England - to their parents. This time, it was about not getting any ice cream before they left, as Melissa had promised. "You said we could get the chocolate-vanilla cones! I don't see any here!" Katie whined, exaggerating a huge sigh. Sophie nodded, her eyes wide and moist, as if she were about to cry. "There's going to be food there, I'm pretty sure your father said it was a barbecue." Melissa tried to tell them, but neither of them were listening, they were already complaining to Ian that their mother never listened to them. Ellie's music was too loud for her to hear what they were complaining about, but she had a fairly good idea. Without taking her earphones out, Ellie spoke or rather shouted to them, "Guys, shut up. No ice cream. Shut up." Melissa turned around from the passenger chair. "Volume, Ellie." She shouted, just enough for Ellie to hear. " Ellie sighed and turned the volume down, but still loud enough for her to drone out her father commenting on all the types of trees he spotted out the window while he drove, her mother flipping through a magazine and scoffing at the fur the celebrities were wearing in an exclusive photo shoot, and her two sisters complaining that Sparrow smelled. Yep, Flooing was much better than this.
Finally they were there, the street lined with cars. "Looks like we'll have to find another place to park the car. Did they invite the whole town?" Ian muttered, his head swiveling around to look for an open space that wasn't in front of a drive way. Ellie had heard this, as she had just turned off her iPod, trying to get out of the car - which smelled now, thanks to Sparrow - as fast as she could. "Well then can I get out while you look for a space? Please?!" Ellie, with her seatbelt already unbuckled, asked her parents. Ian and Melissa looked at each other first, before agreeing. "Take smelly with you!" Sophie said, her hand covering her nose and mouth. Ellie got out of the car and quickly got Sparrow out. Holding onto his leash as he bounded around in circles, yapping happily, Ellie spotted Oscar's house and started towards it. There were all sorts of noises coming from the backyard, so Ellie ignored the front door and went around the side of the house. Sparrow, smelling the meat out the back, quickly struggled free of Ellie's grip and bounced off ahead of her, the leash still attached and dragging behind him. "Sparrow!" Ellie called.
An owl quickly dodged around Ellie, and before she could glance at the direction it went, she was suddenly attacked. Ellie spluttered water out of her mouth, and looked down. Her bright pea green top was saturated, as well as her denim shorts. Ellie looked up as someone said her name, spotting two children with shocked face and were holding two water guns. She then spotted Oscar, who looked like he was laughing, and sure enough as soon as he was in front of her, he was bursting with laughter, the two children laughing too. Ellie who was shocked and had still hadn't said anything about her attack yet, followed Oscar inside. After explaining about Herra stealing food, Elsie giggled, but stopped as soon as he mentioned she could try a minted lamb burgers. But he didn't seem to notice, rambling on about his mother's clothes. "No, no I'm not alone. Everyone's here. Are you attacking all your guests with water? Just so I can go back and warn them." Despite what Oscar said about him getting wet, Ellie gave him a big hug, getting most of his clothes wet also. "Now we're even." Ellie grinned and hugged him again.

The barbeque had, until now, been full of people either much older than Oscar or so much younger. This meant he was overjoyed to see Ellie there- finally someone a little older! Ellie was three years younger than Oscar but this had never made any complications. She was such a sweet kid and the two had got on fabulously since they’d been introduced a while ago through their parents. The fact that she was at Hogwarts with him was excellent; he felt as though she was in a sense very much a little sister character. The feelings he felt when he looked at her (even now in her drenched clothes) were purely brotherly. And soon he would have an adopted sister and who knows how much more intensified the feelings would be then? Oscar loved feelings. He loved being happy, angry, jealous, even sad. He just loved living. It was a hard thing to wrap his head around and an even harder thing to explain the whole thing. But he generally just loved living and feeling. He supposed it was one of the reasons he loved his mother so much; she had after all brought him into this world. She had given him this life, this ability to feel and see.
Wiping from his mind all these odd thoughts, so unfamiliar to his normally quite straight-forward way of thinking, he listened as Ellie spoke of her parents being with her. “Soph and Katie are here? Fabulous!” His grin grew. He adored Ellie’s sisters almost as much as he loved Ellie herself. They were similar to his cousins, only a little more dramatic in the girly sense. “I can’t wait to introduce them to Mel and Frank. Who by the way, will probably be waiting on you all day because of this mess. They’re the same age, I’m sure they’ll get on like a house on fire.” He paused for a moment. “And no doubt end up setting fire to something before the day is out. My influence, of course.” He chuckled proudly. For years he’d been very much Melanie and Frank’s advisor on how best to go about their cheeky adventures and how to avoid being caught. It was true; he had influenced them a lot.
“Right just through her- hey!” He was just stepped through the doorway into his mother’s clothes room when Ellie enveloped him in one big hug. In seconds he was almost as wet as she. Laughing happily he pretended to be disgusted before joining in with her second hug, wrapping his arms around him in a big bear-hug. “It’s great to see you Ellie.” His voice was softer now, with a more serious note to it. “I’ve got some news to tell you later, but now I think we both need a change of clothing.”
Oscar led her through the door. The room inside was larger than most of the rooms in the Flynn house, and full to the brim with racks of clothes. They were categorized by colour, as Heather always was the organised one. “Soo… I think I’ll go for a nice red shirt. How about you Ellie? Just help yourself! There’s a screen over there, at the back.” He indicated with a hand to the large blue screen where she could change. Then, pulling his wet own t-shirt over his head he walked towards the male red section and began flicking through the clothes, tossing his damp t-shirt on the floor. Although his mother was tidy and organised, Oscar certainly was not.

Oh great, Ellie thought to herself. He's going to teach Soph and Kate how to do shoot paper out of straws, or something boyish and bad like that. Although Ellie didn't have a problem with this; she herself would even help out. Pranks were funny, but only when they weren't harmful. Ellie didn't allow herself to participate in anything that might harm someone, or cause property damage. People who found humor in other people's pain was in-humane, and not nice at all. But people who harmed themselves some how was always funny. Ellie remembered the time she and her two sisters used to change the garden gnomes - muggle kind - in Mr. Peacock's garden, around from where they previously were. The old muggle would wake up every morning, go outside to get the paper, and would find that the gnomes weren't where he had originally put them. He spent an hour putting the gnomes back, only to go outside again each morning and find them again not where they previously were. Ellie, Sophie and Katie were watching from behind their fence each morning, giggling silently to themselves. There was a down-side to all of these pranks. Mr. Peacock got up each morning at 6.30 am, so the three sisters had to get up extremely early, trying not to wake up their mother and father who were still asleep, and sneak outside.
"News? Tell me, tell me, tell me!!" Ellie exclaimed, but Oscar had already gone into the room, and Ellie followed. Ellie gasped slightly. She had never seen this many clothes outside of a store. So many colours, styles, materials, so many buttons, lace, ribbons and anything else you could find on clothes. Elsie didn't fool anyone when it came to how she dressed. She loved clothes. She loved how it wasn't just something to wore to keep warm. It was a statement. It matched your personality, your style, yourself in general. Ellie was in clothes heaven. Thank goodness she was friends with a mum who was a fashion designer. Ellie could see herself living in this room and this room alone. She wouldn't need food, the clothes were enough. Ellie ran her fingers lightly on the hanging clothes, not even paying attention to what Oscar had said. Immediately Ellie found what she would wear. A bright sunny yellow dress, with a black bow around the waist. Ellie stood there staring at it, unsure if she should disturb it, that it should stay hanging instead of her spoiling it. Hesitantly, Ellie reached for it and took it from the hanger.
Ellie headed towards the screen that she was sure she heard Oscar mention, and changed into the dress behind it. Carrying her wet clothes, Ellie walked back around to face Oscar. Before sshe could ask him where to put anything, she heard shouting and barking back outside. Ellie rolled her eyes. "I bet you 100 Galleons that Sparrow is the cause of all that. Or the twins." Ellie laughed, imagining what her siblings or the dog might have done. Sparrow most likely stole something edible, like Oscar's owl. Or Sophie and Katie had already made friends with Oscar's cousins, and were no doubt recking havoc. "So! Should we take our wet clothes outside to dry up in the sun?" Ellie motioned to her clothes, loosing grip on her shorts and dropping them. Ellie quickly tried to catch them before they hit the ground, but somehow Ellie managed to hit herself in the face, poking her eye in the process. "OW! Ugh. Ow." Ellie stood back up, not even bothering to pick up her shorts, an instant reflex brought her hands up to her face, rubbing her eye, which resulted in her dropping her top as well. "Aw! I haven't hit myself since we left home!" Ellie sighed, her usual clumsiness wasn't taking a holiday today, it was sticking around and had no intentions of letting Ellie have fun without being cautious. "You're going to have to watch me, make sure I don't break anything."
((S'alright, mine was just as shocking. But I have a better excuse, I'm half asleep!))

It didn’t take long for Oscar to find the perfect red t-shirt. It was simple and short-sleeved. What else could you want? Although his mother had such an interest in fashion it had become her career, Oscar was the opposite. He didn’t care what he wore. His friends didn’t either so why should he? He likes to look presentable and smart when he had to, but otherwise all his clothes he wore because his mother asked him to. They were all from the lines that he and Elsie were looking at now; all with the cursive ‘Heather Flynn’ embroidered neatly on the inside of the back, at the neck. Oscar looked at the logo now before putting the red top on. He was so proud of his mother. She’d followed her dream- and here she was, a well-known designer with new lines coming out all the time. She deserved some time-off, but she never got any. Her birthday was coming up… As Oscar pulled the top over his head in a far from graceful manner, he made a mental note to discuss giving Heather a luxury spa holiday for her birthday.
His mind was whipped from the thought as a flash of yellow in the corner of his eye caught his attention. Turning, he was faced with the image of Ellie in her new attire. “A-Are you Ellie?” He faked a shocked expression as though he didn’t know who this new witch was. For the dress she was wearing had changed her completely, Merlin knows how a dress alone could do that much. Her blonde hair suited it perfectly and the contrasting black bow tied tight around her slim waist somehow made the sunny yellow a little more sophisticated. It wasn’t too dressy, not too short and not too long, with thin straps that hugged the Ravenclaw’s shoulders comfortably. It was perfect for the barbeque and Oscar couldn’t keep the grin from his face. “It looks gorgeous Ellie, really good. I wondered for a minute where my little-” Here, a teasing twinkle appeared in his brown eyes. “Ellie-bee had gone.” The stolen words came from the nickname he knew Elsie’s parents used with her. Oscar had used it seriously in the past, but now simply called her ‘Ellie’ to save any embarrassment; although he thought she secretly loved the nickname. It was bright and sweet, just like her.
Oscar smiled again at the younger girl before cocking his head at the racket that was soon from outside. “One hundred galleons?” His smile grew. Most likely it was the twins or Sparrow, and he definitely wasn’t in a position to bet any of his money in the first place. Although the Flynn family owned a fair bit of money now his mother was earning more that didn’t mean Oscar had that much. Since his sixteenth birthday he and his parents had agreed; he would earn his own money for spending. Things like trips and school supplies they would buy if he was unable, but everything else was for him to buy. Oscar preffered it this way; he did jobs around the house and worked with his ma in her business in the holidays. He saved up for Hogsmeade trips as well as the cigarettes packs he smoked every week. Apart from the trips, cigarettes and a few other bits and pieces, he didn’t need for much. The pile of galleons in his Gringrotts account was actually growing and he loved the feeling of independency it gave him, and knew it made his parents happier when he could look after himself so easily.
“Sounds like a plan.” He nodded to Ellie’s idea of putting their damp clothes in the sun. As he prepared to go outside, the Ravenclaw paused for a minute as she had a bit of trouble with her… well, Oscar didn’t actually know what had happened. But he picked up Ellie’s clothes with a chuckle. “There’s the Ellie I know and love!” He laughed. For she was often a bit of a clumsy girl and it had always made Oscar laugh. Picking up her shorts, top, and his damp shirt from earlier, he beckoned to the door. “This way, milady?” It didn’t take them long to get outside again. Oscar quickly threw the clothes carelessly on a rack leaning against the fence and lead Ellie over to his parents. Her own had already arrived, along with her sisters (who were already chasing Herra with Frank and Mellie, closely followed by an already soaked Sparrow), and were talking enthusiastically with Heather and Isaac. The moment Oscar and Ellie came into view, however, they were both hugged tightly. Elsie by Oscar’s parents, Heather commenting on how fabulous her yellow dress look on the third year, insisting that she keep it. And Oscar by Ian Covens, who pulled him into a ‘manly’ hug and joined in his wife’s compliments on how grown-up and tall he was getting. While the two were momentarily separated Oscar threw a look Ellie’s way. He liked her parents though; they were similar to his own in many ways and he respected those traits. They always welcomed him readily and didn’t raise brows at Ellie and Oscar’s age difference like some people often did.
By now Heather had left the small group and was standing on the steps that lead to the back door. Her presence was noticed by everyone in the garden and all fell silent, smiles still set. “Welcome everyone to our monthly barbeque! Thank you all for coming and hello to friends, old and new. Food will be ready in a short moment,” Oscar gave a guilty grin at the mention of his abandoned job here. “-and the alcohol-” An enthusiastic shout came from a few people at the mention of drink. “-is on the table by the pond. Before we carry on however, my family and I have an announcement to make!” Heather beckoned to her husband here and with a sheepish smile he appeared at her side. Before long Oscar joined them, and Heather had one arm around his shoulders while around her waist was Isaac’s own arm. All of them couldn’t keep the smiles from their faces now as Heather continued. “As some of you may know, last year we applied for adoption. Specifically, to a female in Africa who is in dire need of some TLC. We’ve been approved… and Thandiwe will be arriving within the next month!” She kept the announcement simple, not going into the details. But it was enough. An enormous roar erupted from the crowd before the happy family and each one were pulled into bear-hugs.
Oscar crossed back over to Elsie as soon as possible. “I tried to tell you!” He laughed, his eyes bright. “Isn’t it great? She’s just five years old.” Glancing over at his parents he felt a surge of love for them. Heather was crying tears of joy as everyone around her showed their appreciation and gave their congratulations, and her fingers were entwined with Isaacs, never letting go despite the push of the crowd around them. It wasn’t just love for his parents though; it was for everyone in the garden. They were all special to him now and he was so pleased that he was able to share this time with them all.

Yellow had to be Elsie's favorite colour. If it had been up to her, she would have put herself in Hufflepuff, just for the house colours. But she was glad she got into Ravenclaw, as blue was close to being her favorite colour. But of course she loved all colours, she wasn't prejudice against colours. Ellie's room was painted a nice bright yellow, but had all sorts of colours around, so there was not a colour that did not miss out. Her bed was a nice shade of blue, as well as her desk. Her mirror, surrounded by photos and pieces of memorabilia on the frame was green, and her wardrobe was a lovely purple. All of the colours contrasted against each other well. Ellie wanted to paint a giant rainbow on the roof, and she was hoping her mother would let her during the holidays. That's something to look forward too! Ellie thought to herself.
Ellie grinned as Oscar commented on how lovely she looked in the yellow dress. She did like the dress a lot. She pretended to glare at Oscar for calling her Ellie-Bee, a name which her parents had called her since she could remember. Ellie sighed and raised her arms equal to her elbows and flapped them slightly, while muttering, "Buzz buzz." Ellie couldn't remember the last time Oscar or her parents had called her Ellie-Bee. Secretly, it made her sad. She had always loved the name Ellie-Bee.
After just slightly getting over the embarrassment of dropping her things, Oscar had picked up the clothes, saving Ellie from any further embarrassment. Today was likely to be another day of scratched hands and knees, black eyes, broken dishes and tripping over little children. Ellie sighed. All in the day of Ellie. Oscar guided themselves back outside and soon Ellie was hugging Heather and Isaac, insisting that she didn't want to take the dress, but giving up after Heather almost scolded her, saying she should take it. For a moment, Sparrow who was drenched, came speeding behind Ellie, skimming the back of her knees, so they were all wet and cold, with bits of dog fur stuck to them. Ellie cried out and started wiping away the slimy mark her dog had left, before she noticed that Oscar's mum had left and was now speaking in front of everyone. Ellie looked on as Oscar and his father joined Heather and was listening intently as Heather shared the family's news to the crowd. Ellie screamed and cheered along with everyone else. She was so happy for her friend's family! She knew how much they had wanted to adopt, and now they finally had their dream.
Ellie was jumping up and down by the time Oscar reached her, a grin stretching on her face, her big brown eyes wide with excitement and happiness for her friend. All Ellie could do as Oscar spoke to her was sigh "Awww" Repetitively. She couldn't wait to meet Oscar's new little sister. Ellie finally stopped cooing and punched Oscar in the arm. "You should have tried to tell me faster!" But Ellie was only joking, still grinning. "But I forgive you. Come on, let's go for a walk. I can tell that my mum is psychically telling me to get Sparrow away from everyone. He's soaking wet and is determined to get everyone the same way." Ellie tugged on Oscar's arm and dragged him towards Sparrow, where he was jumping on Melanie, licking her face. "Sparrow!" Ellie yelled, as she reached him. She noticed that someone had thought to take off his leash, so he wouldn't strangle himself as he raced around a pole or something. Ellie turned towards Oscar and told him to wait there, and then Ellie ran towards her parents, asking for Sparrow's leash and telling them that she and Oscar were going to take away Sparrow for a bit, just so he could calm down. Her parent's agreed and went back to talking to another couple, friends or family of the Flynns'. Elsie ran back and clipped on Sparrow's leash and then turned towards Oscar. "Let's go!"
