“Finally.” Lori cheered pleasantly. It was finally Saturday. Lately, Lori came to loath the weekdays. She felt so alone then. Yes, Lori had other friends, but it just wasn’t the same. She missed Theo. He had always been her best-friend, the one she spent all her time with. And now that was up in the air. Lori merely got through the week days because she had to. She was doing better in her classes than she ever had. She carried out all her prefect duties. She even took on extra shifts, but still she felt, lonely. It didn’t matter that she nearly always had people around her, she still felt alone. It was the feeling that occurred when the one person you cared about most was taken away from you. This is exactly what had happened and now she couldn’t get the feeling to go away. Lori jetted from the common room, greeting her house mates as she went. Saturdays were different for Lori. She didn’t feel alone or guilty for anything. She felt free because she spent the day doing something that she loved to do as of late.
“Hi Carla.” Lori greeted the owner as she entered the stables. Carla smiled. “Prince is waiting for you in Stall Four.” Carla said knowing Lori would want to jump straight on her favorite horse. Lori nodded and ran off to the stall. Lori only took up horse writing as a hobby over the winter months. It was something that Florence had talked her in to. Back then, Lori would do anything to take her mind off of Theo so she obliged. Now, it was her favorite thing to do. Lori visited Carla’s stables right outside Hogsmeade nearly every weekend. Prince was her favorite horse. Actually, the only one that she would ride. She beamed when she first saw the familiar horse. Prince was snow white. He was beautiful and majestic: the perfect horse. “Got something for you.” She said holding out Prince’s favorite treat, an apple, in her palm. Prince neighed and approached Lori, graciously eating the apple from her hand. Lori smiled. This would be a great day.
In minutes, Lori was on Prince’s back riding through Hogsmeade. Lori’s blond hair blew strongly as Prince ran to the woods. Lori giggled, slowing Prince’s speed slightly. “Easy boy. It’s still early.” She giggled. When Lori rode, she forgot about everything, the good things and bad. This pleased her. She wanted a chance to forget things. She only got this chance every week so she made the most of it. Lori couldn’t even describe the past few months of her life. She wanted to say that they had been sad and lonely, but that wasn’t a good enough description. Lori couldn’t be with the person that she always counted on. It was her fault. Why on earth did she fall in love with him? It ruined everything. Love ruined everything, especially when you are in love with a gay man. Now, Lori found herself longing for Theo in any form she could take. She wanted to go back to being his best-friend and nothing more. But this didn’t seem possible at the moment. But now, none of that matter. Nothing matter. Lori could just have fun and be free and that was exactly what she needed.
Prince ran through the goods, by the creek and back around. They were trotting just around the edge of the woods, they were practically in Hogsmeade they were so close. Lori was just going to trot Prince back to the meadow for awhile and then practice some jumps. She slowed his speed down as the trees were rather close together. The area was quite pretty and very empty. It felt as if it was its own world even if the village was only a minute away. “Okay Prince. You ready to start heading back?” She asked leaning forward to hug his neck. Prince whinnied. It was at that moment that Lori heard a voice. “Ah!” She exclaimed. This startled Prince, but he didn’t buck like a normal horse. Lori’s voice wasn’t loud enough. “Shh..Prince. Sorry.” She said patting his neck. “Sorry.” Lori called out to someone she couldn’t see. Prince continued to walk further and Lori could see who had frightened. It was a Ravenclaw student, an older one. Lori knew at least the names of all her housemates. This one was Cougar. Lori slowed Prince to a stop. “Oh hi..you caught us off guard.” She smiled to prince. “When I ride I don’t pay things too much attention..sorry.” She said almost shyly. “So, hi.” She settled on the word finally. “What brings you out this way?” Lori petted Prince as she waited for Cougar to respond to her question.
