What an droll and irrevocably bland day... thought Vince as he exited the Charms classroom. Charms had been only half as entertaining asit usually was, owing to the fact that todays class had consisted of non-wand work, something Professor Flitwick hardly ever did, and as he was exiting he silently cursed the pint sized prof. Of course he had nothing against the man, for he was a good teacher. It was just the way Vince was, and everyone who had ever come across him knew that.
Since Charms was his last class of the day, Vince decided that he would go outside, maybe Hagrid was tending to the Hippogriffs and he could help. Unluckily for him though, this thought was dashed from his mind as he remembered that Hagrid had been went to Diagon Alley earlier, needing to get some more flesh-eating slug repellant. Still though, an traipse on the grounds sounded slightly more fun than having to explain to Lucrecia why he still wasn't making friends with his fellow classmates. Shuddering at the prospect of her wrath, he made his way down the corridor of the third floor and went the way he usually went when trying to escape the confines of the school.
As he walked through the school, Vince thought over what his sister was always telling him, that he should be nicer. Why should I be nicer, he thought to himself, I am who I am, I shouldn't have to change to suit other peoples insecurities. It was the how he always countered her arguments about the way he acted, if acting was what one wanted to call it. Personally he himself believed that if someone was behaving the way they always did, then it wasn't acting, it was being true to oneself. His sister however was tired of seeing people reacting to Vince's loner nature with disdain and contempt, not to mention seeing the hurt that no one else could ever seem to see in his eyes.
He was shaken out of his own thoughts when he heard a voice, a guy's by the tone of it, shout his name. Vince scowled, he had been at the doors to the grounds, and now he would have to wait a few more seconds to enjoy the luxurious comforts that the grounds had to offer. Turning around, he saw that it was an fellow Hufflepuff, seventh year guy who had been in Charms with him earlier, who also had been given extra time to work on the assignment. He thought his name started with an c, but he couldn't recall his name. The guy hurried over to him and asked if he had finished his assignment in class, to which Vince replied, " Yes, I finished my assignment, and no, I won't help you with yours, at all. Now leave me the hell alone." He didn't say this with any vehemence in his voice, but he did not wish to be disturbed with such simple things as school work at this moment. Turning away before the guy could say something in turn, he left out of the doors, and made his way to the shore of the lake, where he began using his wand to skip stones across the all to still surface.
