I was just walking around the ground, reading a book and minding my own business. With my nose in the book, I couldn't easily see where I was going. I was just turning the page when I bumped into a girl and my book fell to the ground. As I bent down to pick it up I said, "Excusez-moi, je n'ai pas vu où j'allais. (Excuse me, I didn't see where I was going.)" I looked up into her face, just by her expression I could tell she was a Slytherin, and she looked like she was about to punch me. "Oh, I see you don't speak French. I said 'Excuse me, I didn't see where I was going.' I'm sorry, my mind just processes everything in French. I mean after all, all the books I read in my spare time are in French. When I make a mistake, my mind doesn't quite translate into English well." She seemed to be getting more annoyed by each word I said, so I picked up my book and started to walk away.

((Sorry it took me so long... Lots and lots of homework!! )) Hayley walked quickly out of the Slytherin common room, eager to get outside on such a fantastic day. One look at the Great Hall ceiling said it all; blue skies, not a cloud in sight. No doubt the grass would be warm...and the lake water cool...Just imagining being outdoors and forgetting about her mother's trouble for once made Hayley's heart race. It was prehaps the best day of spring so far, and Hayley wasn't going to waste it sulking indoors. In too much of a hurray to escape the castle and forget her cares for the time being, Hayley bumped into a girl reading a book. The book fell from her hands and Hayley recognized her as Marie-Rose Delarue, a fourth year Gryffindor. Hayley raised an eyebrow as the girl started babbling in French. All she caught was excuse me. Finally the Gryff seemed to realized that the only French phrase Hayley knew was allons-y, let's go. "Yeah, well that's nice," Hayley said half to herself, sarcasticly. As the Gryffindor started walking away from where Hayley stood, Hayley became aware of the situation and started to think manipulative thoughts. A vunrable Gryffindor, probably a geek.. Sersiouly, she reads in her free time! I mean, I'm me, right? I could probably make her do my homework or something.. "Hey, you." Hayley used her kindest voice. "What did you say your name was again?" This was the test to see what Marie-Rose was really made of. If she was smart enough to catch that she never told Hayley her name, she was either smart enough to get Hayley's homework done well, or bold enough to stand up to a Slytherin. Hayley thought that she would point that out quickly or maybe, considering the know-it-all attitude and the way she thought of nothing when she spoke to a Slytherin.

I was walking away, afraid because it was a Slytherin and not one that I knew, when she said "Hey, you. What did you say your name was again?" I should have just kept walking, because she would probably make me do her homework now. I mean, I read and write in my spare time. I guess I just didn't think of that right away. I stopped and pivotted on my right foot and said," Marie-Rose Delarue. My name is Marie-Rose Delarue. If you would please excuse me, I was on my way down to the lake to sketch, it's just such a beautiful day. I really should have turned around and kept walking there, but she had a cocky smile that told me that if I walked away, I might just get hurt. Where's the only Slytherin you're friends with when you need her?
