Willow passed through the large oak doors and out of the castle into the grounds. Happy to leave her school books behind and be in the fresh open air, she took a long breath in and smiled to herself before letting it out and pulling her cardigan closer to her, in an attempt to form some sort of a barrier against the wind.
She glanced over towards the dark expanse that was the black lake. The water looked still, the only disturbance was the ripples here and there that were caused by other students skimming pebbles across the lake. Rather than get any closer, Willow changed direction and headed towards Hagrid's cabin. Care of Magical Creatures being a favourite subject, she decided she would see if Hagrid had any new creature's around, perhaps a hint on what she could expect for her next lesson. After walking around the cabin she was slightly disappointed that all she could find were exeptionally large Flobber Worms...probably for the first years.
The large grubbs slowly tumbled over one another in their blind attempts to reach what looked like mouldy lettucce leaves. Willow watched them for a while before her mind jumped to other things. Willow was now in her fourth year at Hogwarts and it hadn't escaped her notice that she had made very few friends and was usually in her own company. It was times like this that she missed her mother and wandered how she was doing in Scotland and if she had planned any more trips. She enjoyed Hogwarts but she missed moving from place to place, meeting new people and seeing different things.
Willow shook her head as if to chase away her thoughts and clear her mind. Sitting down, she reached for some of the leaves and began to break them up, throwing them absent mindedly in the direction of the Flobber Worms.

Vince was in one of his better moods, although some would say he was just a little less stand-offish than usual. He had been given special permission by Hagrid to feed the Nifflers that had been recently used in one of the lessons that he taught to Fifth Years. He himself remembered that exact lesson the year before when they had used Niffler's to extract treasure from the ground. It had of course been Leprechaun gold, but that was what it always was. Having an natural eye for animals, Vince had chosen the quickest and most efficient of the treasure seeking birds. He had won the little contest, and his reward had been an giant bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. The memory of this brought to his face one of those rare warm smiles that it could make.
The Niffler's were inside the hut that Hagrid called home, and Vince had just finished feeding them. He was currently petting his favorite of the birds, the one who had won him his reward last year; he had named her Evanescence. The bird was curoius about the pendant around his neck, but his natural ability with animals calmed the birds curiosity. It was then that he heard footsteps outside. Putting the bird on his left shoulder, he walked over to the curtains to see who the unknown visitor was outside.
To his surprise, it was an girl, and what was more, she was feeding Flobberworms. This perplexed the perpetual loner to no end, as most girls wouldn't even touch them in class, let alone of their own free will. He watched somewhat curious, his cold side abated by the happiness that dealing with animals brought. He was close to the door, so he opened it quietly. Standing in the doorway, Evanescence still on his shoulder, he said loudly, " Oi, what do you think you're doing? Don't you know that you need permission to interact with the animals when Ha....Professor Hagrid isn't around?"

Willow was lost in her own thoughts as she watched the Flobberworms, her eyes glazed with a far away look.
" Oi, what do you think you're doing? Don't you know that you need permission to interact with the animals when Ha....Professor Hagrid isn't around?" Came a voice from the hut. Willow jumped dropping the remaining leaves she had in her hands, her thoughts brought abruptly back to the present. Her head whipped around to see framed in the doorway a boy with a beautiful bird on his shoulder. She stood up brushed the grass from her clothes and looked up at him. "Sorry I didn't realise" Willow said, a small smile fluttered over her lips, "I wouldn't really call it interacting they aren't taking much notice of me."
Willow brushed a loose strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. She looked curiously at the boy and took a few paces towards him before saying, "Who are you then? To know so much about these rules and by the looks of things to have such a way with the creatures." She then added, somewhat as an afterthought and as a sort of apology for her bluntness, "I'm Willow by the way."

Vince eyed the girl cooly as she jumped at the sound of his voice. One must always be prepared for someone to just suddenly speak to them, after all it was how people lived wasn't it? Speaking to each other rrandomly and expecting the other person to reciprocate the action. It was rather idiotic if one thought about it, but it was also human nature at this point to do so. Why was he ranting about human nature, there was this girl messing with flobberworms that needed to be reprimanded, well maybe not. He did have a softspot for others who felt the need to play with animals.
Walking down the three steps that made the stairs into Hagrid's house, Vince's eyes never left the girls face. She had smiled, and although she was attractive, this made her more so. Her joked about the flobberworms was true and it brought a smile to his lips, albeit a small one. He waited at the bottom of the stairs as she walked torward him. She spoke as she neared him, questioning him of his own person and introducing herself. He waited until the girl reached him, who he now learned was Willow, to answer her.
" My name is Vincente Faire, but you may call me Vince." he spoke in his icy, spanish voice. He looked to his shoulder and whispered to Evanescence to go back to the other Nifflers. She took off at once. He turned his eyes back to the girl, then said " I am an assistant sometimes to the Professor, so I do have some sort of interest as to who else would be interacting with the animals."He looked the girl over, decided she wasn't entirely hopeless saying, " You know, most girls wouldn't touch a flobberworm, let alone feed it. Why did you?"
