Gringotts' Goblins Grieve
A Gringotts pioneer passes away after many years of service.
Daily Prophet Issue No. 16481 – Oct. 8th, 1999
Yesterday, after what seemed to be a normal day at work, Brashkin, one of the goblins who helped to fund and create the cart system that weaves its way through the underground maze in Gringotts was found dead in the underground part of the bank by a fellow goblin. The death appears to have been of natural causes as Brashkin was simply of old age. Having served at Gringotts for most of his life, Brashkin was known for his unfailing service to the establishment.
Much of the work force at Gringotts were in a state of grieving after finding out about the loss of one of their own. One friend of Brashkin stated that, "He was a main reason that our bank has been so successful through the years. He will be missed." It was obvious by the mood that Brashkin will not be forgotten. In fact, there are plans to erect a memorial statue in the center of the Gringotts lobby. A quote of Brashkin's that many remembered him by will be engraved at the foot of the statue: "If you're not working hard, you're not living."
Brashkin is survived by his wife Methalda and their two children, and at least a dozen younger brothers and sisters of his own. Those wishing to pay their respect are encouraged to send their condolences via owl post to Gringotts, at which point they will be forwarded to his family. Also, anybody wishing to donate for the memorial plans can drop off their gift at the front desk in Gringotts' lobby. Any gifts will be much appreciated.
