It was a beautiful day outside, the birds were singing, the flowers were blooming and Danny was in the library. He looked out the window of the library with a sigh, he wished he could be in two places at once. One here in the library studying and one outside in the sun having fun. He liked studying he guessed, It wasn’t so much as fun but he liked learning new stuff that he could try later or use to have fun or make trouble. Danny thought with a laugh as he looked down as his book, well books; the whole table was layered with books on all different kinds of subjects. They ranged from transfiguration to potions. He even found one on Animagus training, which deep down he was tempted to just steal from the library. It’s rare you would find anything like this in the library but it was hidden under twenty very uninteresting books that it looked like hadn’t been picked up in years.
He feared if he asked to borrow the book from the library the librarian would just take it away. He looked at it flipping from page to page, reading a page here and there, it was all very advanced stuff. Danny ,for some reason, was really obsessed with the ability to turn in an animal. It just fascinated him so much, His grandfather said when he was a much younger and powerful wizard he could turn into a rabbit, but not anymore. His father said it was just one of his grandfathers tall stories but still Danny was fascinated by it. Maybe if he piled it up with other books he could sneak it out, or hide it somewhere and look for it later.
Soon more books arrived on the table he was sitting at, he couldn’t explain where they had come from, he was to busy reading. He thought someone must have left them and would come back to get them so he just went back to reading. As he kept reading he saw more books start covering the table, they just floated over and landed in a pile. Danny was so confused, he looked around to see if someone was pulling a prank on him but everyone else seemed to be studying and not paying attention to him or the flying books. The school was magically after all so magically books weren’t out of the question, Danny thought going back to reading his book while more books just piled up.
“Excuse me…ummm books?” Danny said unsure if they could even hear or understand him. “I’m trying to read and your flying is very distracting and could get me in trouble so could you please stop?” Danny said trying to be polite to the books still wondering if they understood him, which clearly they didn’t as more just kept stacking on the table. “Young man!” Danny heard a loud angry women’s voice yell. “What is going on here!” He turned to see the librarian red in the face and very mad. “Do you plan to read all these books?!” She yelled asking Danny, he could hear other students laughing at him after she stopped yelling. He was going to explain the books were going this and not him but that wasn’t what came out of his mouth. “At some point in my life, yes I do.” He said without thinking, He was sure he was going to get kicked out but one of the books flew on the table again.
The table was one covered about 5 feet in the air with books. Danny could just barely see over them as he stood up to look at the newest book to land on his table. “Well may I just say I am not doing this because I would never pick this book in my life.” Danny said to the librarian who was still red in the face but not staring at him anymore, he held up a book about how to magically clean stains out of dresses. Danny stood there with a smirk as she walked off, probably mad at the mess she was now going to have to clean. Danny knew if there was any chance to get this Animagus book out of the library it was now, she was mad and no longer paying attention to him. “Ma’am?” Danny asked as she was walking away and she just stopped and stood there not even turning around to look at Danny. “May I borrow this book from the library?” He asked as nice and politely as possible. “Whatever, just bring it back!” She yelled storming off and grunting as she heard more books land on the table. Danny was so happy he didn’t mind his table now being a fortress of books, he got the one he wanted and that’s all that mattered. Danny just sat back down and went on reading again.
