Not again. This was not happening another blasted time! But it was. Damara loved it, but hated it at the same time. When it happened, she got to hear his voice, see his perfect boyish figure. The mere sight of him made her eyes roll in the back of her head. On the other hand, she saw him and that only brought back the pain. The pain of the day that Angela caught them kissing in the Room of Requirement. Angela had figured out the thought to get in. That same day Angela turned her cousin in to the Cavalieri leaders. He was immediately taken away for having a relationship with a Hemingway. When she saw him this way, even though it wasn’t real, she could still see the pain in his eyes. She could see her crystal blue eyes through his. This wasn’t real. This wasn’t really happening. It was just a crazy illusion. And a part of Damara knew that, but that didn’t make this seem any less real at all. His face, his perfect brown locks, and his tall stature. It was him, but it wasn’t. It was complicated. Damara hated that she could love and hate something all at the same time. But it was a feeling that she knew well.
This time it was happening after Ancient Ruins. She had over-worked herself yet again. She had three essays due and a major mission for the Entourage to plan. Luciana knew that Damara had schoolwork, but she didn’t care. Damara had to do her work for the Entourage. The only other option she had was to pass it off to Trent to handle alone and she would NOT do that. So she was stuck. Damara did this to herself, not on purpose, but it was her fault. She knew what triggered these stupid allusions. It always happened when she over-worked herself or thought of Nico too much. Today she had done both. Great.. His voice wasn’t sweet this time. He was saying the same big-headed things that used to send Damara into a frenzy. She hated when he did that, but she loved him and secretly she liked it when he annoyed her. Why are you freaking out little red? He asked. Damara growled under her breath as she left the class. “Leave me alone.” She murmured low, under her breath. Sorry, love. You know I can’t do that.
Damara was in control of her body, but her mind was somewhere completely different. It was with Nico. He was walking beside her, annoying her just like he used to. You can’t run away from me, gorgeous. He commented reaching for a piece of her red hair. She ducked from the embrace that she could so clearly picture. “Seriously Nic.” She said aloud again as she flashed through the halls. She couldn’t do this here. It was too open, but Damara could barely register that it her mind. Come on babe. “Go away.” Damara said sternly. Students eyed her cautiously. Damara was usually invisible or deadly. Either they ignored her or they were scared of her. Either way, Damara was scary to them and now she had just gotten scarier in their eyes. What else was new ? Lately this had gotten worse. The delusions or whatever they were had gotten stronger. It was almost as if Nico was trying to tell her something. Maybe he was trying to tell her that he was dead and that she should move on. Maybe he was trying to tell her that he was still alive and for her to find him. Either way, something had to be done to get him out of her head. And fast.
Damara couldn’t go back to her dorm. Angela would find her there and make things worse. Where was she supposed to go? The Room of Requirement only reminded Damara of Nico. She never went there anymore. The Grounds would be crowded and the Courtyard got on Damara’s last nerve. No way was she waiting this out in the library, either. Damara kept walking. She wasn’t sure where she was going. She ended up going down to the dungeons, but she kept walking straight instead of turning to where the common room entrance was. Damara wasn’t thinking about what she was doing. She kept walking until finally she stopped dead in her tracks. A wall to a small room was to her left. It was crumbled to the floor just like it had been a week ago. And in front of the crumbled wall, was Nico. “Go away! Stop doing this to me!” Damara yelled. He sighed. I can’t Mar. I love you to much. “Let me be!” She screamed finally. Then she heard footsteps. She looked behind her and noticed the figure and then back to Nico. He was gone. “Of course.” She muttered. And stared blankly at the crumbled wall and the empty space where she swore Nico had been. Damara felt broken and alone for the first time in her life. She couldn't explain what was happening to her and she wasn't sure if she really wanted to know.
