Zoey was in the bathroom, hastily finishing the thin line of eyeliner she was putting on before she would attempt to finish her hair. Her hair was cooperating today, so this was going to be fun. She had already managed to straight iron it, which was a plus, because there would be no knots in it. She finished and put the black eye pencil down and picked up a brush and a couple of shimmery grey hair pieces that matched her dress. Her dress was a sparkling silver color with a thin layer of black lace at the bottom, and the dress ended about an inch below her knees. It hugged her body on her torso, and then delicately bowed outward just a little bit to give it that twirling motion when/if she even danced. She fixed the thin silvery strap of her dress to where it wasn’t twisted on her shoulder before brushing through her hair again. The brush ran smoothly through her charcoal hair, and she tied it into a side ponytail. She took the diamond encrusted butterfly hair clip and clipped it over the hair tie that held her hair in place. She was finished with her hair, and to her surprise, it went more smoothly then it had done in a while. She picked up her mascara and quickly brushed her eyelashes with it before putting it down and looking at herself. She may have had no self confidence, but she had to admit, she looked very pretty. She quickly rushed into the girls’ dormitory to look for her shoes. They were simple black high heels with silver threading. They looked perfect with her dress, but it wasn’t that she was worried about: She was bound to fall. The heel was only about two and a half inches off the ground, but as clumsy as she was without any heels, she was almost destined to cause a major disaster walking around in wobbly high heels. She took a deep breath while putting them on, ensuring herself that nothing would happen if she was careful and didn’t do anything stupid.
She walked into the common room at a slow pace compared to her rushing pace through the halls between classes during the day. It felt nice to finally slow down a bit and actually pay attention to her surroundings. She looked out one of the windows, seeing it was dark, indicating it was past 7 o' clock already. She brushed her hand against the white marble railing as the stair case turned, giving her a head on view of the common room. There was only two first year girl scrambling to remember the name of their blind dates before heading to the Great Hall. They glanced up and smiled in awe for about a second before returning to their frantic mumbling again. Zoey took in a ragged breath when it hit her: she forgot the name of her blind date. She sighed; shaking her head, silently praying in her head think the name of her blind date remembered her name. Maybe it’d work out and he’d find her. She took another deep breath before she had a panic attack, telling herself that it’d work out. Many of people were having the same trouble as her and the two girls in the common room, right? She nodded as she walked down the stairs, knowing there were. After all, little pieces of paper with a name scribbled on it were very hard not to lose. She mentally shook herself, returning back to reality. She took the step off of the last star before pausing. The Great Hall was only about seven steps away from her. She inhaled and continued.
Zoey stared at the big doors that led into the Great Hall. She heard music playing, people talking, and the occasionally clanking of glass being tapped together. She closed her eyes and opened the door. She opened them and silently awed at how the Great Hall was transformed from the four long tables stretching all the way down, too many round four seated tables filling half of the room, and the other half was the dance floor. She turned her head, seeing the almost all of the students were here, and maybe half of them already dancing. She walked in, looking for an empty table to take her seat at. In the process of looking, she was interrupted by whistle. She turned her head, and saw the first year boy that had taken her as a prize a couple weeks ago, the same day she had met Danny McKay. The first year boy was whistling at her, when her blue eyes wide as she hurried away. Glancing back again to make sure he wasn’t planning at a second attempt of taking her as his own, she bumped into some. “Oh my gosh, I-I’m so sorry! Are you…Danny!” she smiled, taking a step back and smiling up at him. “Hi!” she greeted him before returning beck to her apology. “Are you alright? I didn’t mean to bump into you, I was…distracted.” She said, smirking. She was utterly embarrassed, and telling him about seeing the first year boy once again would make the situation worse. She didn’t feel the heat of her cheeks turning pink, which was a good sign. She didn’t feeling like blushing at the ball, because she was nervous enough as it was, she fear that if she blushed, the pink, or possibly red would fade away from her cheeks until the ball was over.

Danny stared blankly at the box that now sat on his bed; his owl had dropped it off yesterday while he was at lunch. Attached to it was a letter from his mother which just said, “Your going!” Danny wasn’t even sure how she had found out about the ball; probably from a friend of hers that had a kid in Hogwarts. Suddenly a terrible thought crept into his head, “What if it’s the girl I’m supposed to be there with.” He thought to himself as he opened the box, which quickly moved his thoughts to what was inside. It was a terribly awful looking dress robe, something you would see in the back of a closet, the owner probably hoping it would disappear back there.
Danny just closed the box and sighed. He didn’t even want to go, this whole blind date thing just didn’t sit well with him; First he lost the paper as soon as he got it so he didn’t even know who it was with. Also what if he got stuck with someone who hated him, like some Slytherin. Danny sat down on the bed and just fell back lying down. People were running in and out of the dorm all of them getting ready for the ball, Danny just watched them as they passed by. “Well I should make the best of it, it might be fun.” Danny thought out loud to himself, getting back up from the bed and pulling out the dress robe. It just didn’t seem like something Danny would wear, all black with white strips on it. “Well if I’m going to do this, this thing is going to need to look a whole lot different.” He said with a smirk as he pulled out his wand.
A few spells and wrong colors later the robe was finally to Danny’s liking, It was the same black on the top just a lot darker and from the bottom to about his waist red flames went up. It actually looked pretty cool now that he looked at it. A few minutes later Danny was heading down to the common room with his semi-new robe on and his wand tucked under it, he never went anywhere without it. Danny could tell just by looking out the window and with what little light was left it had to be six or six thirty; the common room was still full of people walking around and talking but most seemed to be leaving for the ball, so Danny just joined the group heading out. As he made his way down to the Great Hall a few people were pointing at his robe and laughing at it, which just made him laugh a little. He didn’t care what other people thought, he liked it and that’s all that mattered.
He stood there looking in at the now changed Great Hall, the long tables were now gone being replaced by a lot of round ones. Danny toke a deep breath and walked in trying to avoid someone, but he had no idea who it was. He said hi to a few people then made his way to an empty table and sat down as he watched people dance and more people keep walking into the Great Hall. Pretty soon he got bored of this and decided to go find where the food was, but half way there he heard a whistle that caught his attention. He kept looking around but couldn’t figure out where it had come from. Danny went back to looking for the refreshment table but soon felt the push of someone against him. Danny was a little shocked by it almost pushing him over. He turned to the direction it had come from and found a girl standing there.
Danny was even more surprised to find that Zoey was the one standing there, Danny just smiled as she started to apologize then realized it was Danny she was talking to. “Hmm am I Danny? I would hope so.” He said laughing a little as she then said hi and finished apologizing, saying she had gotten distracted. “It’s okay I can understand you getting distracted, your very distracting right now, must have caught a look of yourself in a mirror or something.” Danny said with a smile as his eyes were drawn to one of the people behind her. “I’m guessing someone didn’t get lucky enough to get your name for this blind date event.” Danny said with a smirk as he pointed back to the first year sitting at the table, who was currently looking back at Zoey. “So who did you get, if you don’t mind me asking?” Danny added looking back to Zoey, which he had to admit did look real nice in her dress.
( I am so sorry this toke so long. I honestly couldn't get a moments peace to actually work on it.)

She laughed with him after his “Am I Danny” line. He continued, and she felt the rush of the blood flowing to her cheeks, which were probably a deep shade of pink now. Distracting? Zoey didn’t think she was that distracting compared to other people who were wear flamboyant colors, but after that though, she got it. He had complimented her, instead of saying she looked crazy or out of place as she originally thought. She wasn’t used to compliments, but she should have known it to come from Danny. She was starting to pick up that he liked charming girls, but she ignored that little observation. He was an overall very nice guy with a good personality. Her she looked down, looking at him. “Nice robes.” She smirked, her blue eyes following the flowing flame pattern up until it stopped. She looked back, seeing that he had caught the whistling first year. “Heh, yeah, I’m actually very, very thankful that he didn’t.” she said, turning around to face him again. She had that strange feeling that people got when they could almost feel the stare that people were giving them. She rested her hand on her harm, looking up at him. It was pretty sad that even with her wearing high heels that she still had to look up in order to see his face. “Is he staring at me?” she asked the rhetorical question that she had given the answer to before she asked the question. “He’s not planning on getting up to talk to me, is he?” she squeaked.
Danny asked about her blind date, and she smirked. “Um, yeah, about that… Those little papers they give you, they are very hard to keep track of…” Zoey stated. She was kind of glad she didn’t know who she had gotten, or else she would have been so nervous about how she looked that she’d probably still be up in the common room. Not that she wasn’t nervous now, being at a ball where everyone had dates, and she was probably the only one foolish enough to lose the paper, and being stared at by a possessive first year boy that had a crush on her, but she if she had known her date, she would have been in a frantic hurry to look her best for her first impression to add the all the nervousness. “So, erm, who’s your date?” she asked, returning from her thoughts. She looked to her right, where she felt the breeze that someone left from passing them. Silently praying it wasn’t that dreaded boy, she looked up. The corners of her rose lips turn up slightly as she saw it wasn’t the boy, but a girl rushing to a cluster of girls. She recognized the girl as the first year in the common room, the one that was with the other girl, the one that was smiling abroad smile as she followed behind. They looked in a much better condition than she had last seen them. They probably remembered the name of their dates.
Zoey felt her cheeks going from a very warm temperature, fading to a slightly warm, back to their normal temperature, indicating the pink tint had faded from her early blushing. She was thankful that her early premonition of her blushing and her pale cheeks not returning to their normal color and staying the vibrant red that they once were. She brushed her straightened bangs to the side as she looked to her left. She saw an empty table not to far away, abandoned by a couple that was off to dance. “Hey, want to go sit down for a while away from the sight of him?” she asked, pointing with her chin toward the first year boy who’s gaze she still felt. She looked up as the flames of the thousands of white, shimmery candles changed from a blu-ish to a darker but softer blue as a slow song came on. She rolled her eyes. The least that could happen was that they played some good, upbeat songs so that she wouldn’t have to see all the slow, mushy-gushy songs to remind her that she lost her paper with her date on it.

Danny just smiled as he noticed her blush a little when he said she was distracting then watched as her eyes looked at his robes and he let out a little laugh, he was pretty sure what she was going to say by the look on her face. “Thanks, I made them myself… sort of.” He said with a smirk as he looked down at his dress robes. “I got them in the mail from home, to be honest I think they belonged to my dad. They just seemed too boring so I fixed them up.” Danny added with the same smirk as he looked back to Zoey. Danny looked over Zoey when she asked if the first year was still staring at her to see if he was. Danny could see that he wasn’t staring really but he just kept looking back at her then back at the table. “He just keeps looking back here; I really must repay you sometime for this, I seem to have caused you to get a first year fan club or something.” Danny said with a little laugh at the end looking back to Zoey.
Danny laughed a little more as she asked he planned to come over here. “I doubt it, he’s just over there with his friends. Anyway if he comes around I’ll just remind him not to steal my beautiful assistant again.” He explained smiling back as Zoey then taking a quick look around as more people seemed to be walking around them. Soon Zoey explained about her blind date and about the piece of paper she lost, which sounded just like his story only he was pretty sure deep down he lost it on purpose. Zoey then asked the question he was expecting seeing as how he asked her the same thing. “Well funny story, on my piece of paper it just said whoever you want; so I haven’t decided yet.” Danny said with a smirk then laughed, not able to keep the joke up anymore. “Not buying it huh? Actually I lost mine too, minutes after I got it, It’s probably for the best anyway. With my luck I probably got a Slytherin or Mrs. Norris.” Danny said laughing, thinking about his blind date with a cat, an evil one at that.
He noticed soon that Zoey looked over to a now empty table then asked if he wanted to sit down, so they could get away from the first years sight. “Sure that sounds good and I could always hide under the table if Mrs. Norris comes to find me.” He said letting out another laugh just as the lights seemed to change and the music got slower. “Great, my favorite.” Danny said in a sarcastic tone; he didn’t so much hate slow songs, he actually liked them. This whole event was just about couples so Danny just sitting there would leave him even more in the open for whoever he was suppose to be here with. Danny started heading for the table as a couple more people got up to dance emptying even more tables to pick from. Danny turned back to Zoey smiling then looked at the couple more empty tables. “I guess we have our choice of tables now.” He said with a laugh as he finally reached the table Zoey was first talking about. He pulled out Zoey chair then smiled. “It’s a ball so I have to use all the polite stuff I was forced to learn then I was little.” Danny remarked smiling as he now looked on at all the people slow dance and finally toke the time to wonder who his paper might really have had on it. He just shrugged it off and turned back to Zoey.

She smiled as he told her about how he ‘made’ his robes. “I bet if I tried to do that with my clothes, I’d probably end up setting them on fire or making them look worse than they already were.” She said, thinking about how she almost set all of the long red curtains that hung from her bed on fire in her first year. She was scared out of her mind, thinking either one: Hogwarts would catch on fire and it’d be her fault, two: she’d get caught and get expelled by McGonagall, or three: She’d die in a horrific fire. Thinking back, she almost busted out laughing at herself; remember how frantic she was trying to put out the small flame that she had started on her curtain that was starting to spread. To this day, she was still tremendously grateful to the sixth year that had walked in and put out the fire. Maybe her bed was drenched and she had to sleep in it, and maybe she had gotten an awful cold from that night, but at least she was safe from any fires and expulsion. Danny had answered her panicky questions about the third year, and said that he had to repay her sometime, but she shook her head, causing her jet black hair to dance around her shoulders and her mid back. “Oh no, no, no, you repaid me when you got me out of the clutches of him.” She said, smiling a sweet smile to match her tone. Zoey seriously didn’t want any repayments, because she either thought that someone was being nice so she repaid them, and it continued on and on and on, or else she’d think that the person repaying her was being too nice so she’d repay them for being too nice, leading to the effect of her first reason. It also made her feel like she didn’t deserve it, which, almost every time, she thought anyways. She smiled as the soft pink color of her blushing returned to her cheeks as he call her his ‘beautiful assistant’ again. She made a mental note to herself that later on: she’d need not to blush so much, or maybe find a charm that help with it because she was tired of feeling her cheeks burning. Zoey grinned, shaking her head slightly when he tried to pull of the joke about his paper. “Well thank goodness you got that one instead of the boy.” She matched his sarcastic tone before he continued to the true story. He had lost his paper too. She started to think maybe a lot of people had lost those darn little paper scraps. She laughed when he said that he might have gotten Mrs. Norris. “Don’t you think Filch would have gotten a little jealous?” she joked between laughs. Since her first year, she had always had the consideration that maybe Filch did have a thing for Mrs. Norris. The thought had gotten smaller and smaller over the years, but it was still there in the back of her mind. A man dating a cat? Come on. But as she thought about it, Filch did seem to be a little lonely in her eyes. She decided to stop think about it before one of her thoughts slipped out and Filch heard, giving her an instant detention. And Filches detentions were the worst detentions automatically in her eyes. Being stuck with Filch more than you had to was a dreadful punishment as it was, being with him for possibly hours was probably worse than being expelled. Zoey laughed again when he agreed to sitting at the table and the ducking under it to hide from Mrs. Norris. She stopped herself from thinking about Mrs. Norris and Filch before any thoughts came into her head. They headed toward the table under the blue lights and she watched as almost every table became vacant. “Well, this is one way to attract our dates.” She muttered. Thinking of her date and the scrap of paper, she just then remembered the word Slytherin scribbled on it. “Oh, I am so glad I lost that paper.” She said to Danny, taking the seat he had pulled out for her. She smiled a smile of thanks. “I just remembered that I had gotten a Slytherin.” She said to him, her eyes following him as her walked around the table to his seat. Being a Gryffindor, she didn’t really like Slytherins in the first place. After her first year at Hogwarts, she saw their stuck up, snot nosed attitudes and her disliking for them grew. If it was one thing she hated, it was people who thought to highly of themselves. She grinned at how he said he had to use the polite stuff because it was a ball. “Well, being how I am, I have to accept the polite stuff like pulling out the chairs and such instead of getting them myself.” She said back to him, looking around. She put her elbow on the table and leaned her head against her hand and tapping the table with her other hand. She straightened up looking back at him. “Y’know, I saw the weirdest thing yesterday on my way up to the common room. I saw bag of candies hanging from every statue on the seventh floor, and as a walked, I saw a kid with purple skin. I think either someone or Peeves jinxed the candies to make whoever ate them turn purple.” She said wrinkling her nose at what else they could have done with the candies. She remembered hearing someone talk about some cadies the Weasley twins made back in their day that gave you a bloody nose. It was a genius idea-but disgusting. Blood as one of her worst fears and held the rank of number one on her list of things she found disgusting. (OOC;; I know, I just thought it’d be a nuisance to read if someone wasn’t in the mood to reading. )

Danny just laughed as Zoey said if she tried to change her clothes like Danny did to his robe, she might make them look worse or catch them on fire. “Well I can always give you some pointers it’s not really that hard. Just need to think of the right spell.” Danny said with a smirk, as he remembered what he went through to change his robe. “Some of them sound very similar. I went through I think ten different color spells before I actually found red.” He explained with a laugh. “I’m actually good with random spells like that, I always research random stuff more then actual school work it seems.” Danny added laughing then smiled as Zoey explained that Danny didn’t owe her anything, he already paid her back by saving her from the first year. “Well if you say so.” Danny said smiling back to Zoey and looking around the Great Hall at all the people dressed all nice. “I wish my paper said that, then I might have tried to hold onto it better.” Danny said smiling replying to what Zoey said about it being a good think he got that and not the first year. Danny laughed as she asked him about Filch getting jealous about Mrs. Norris. “Well that’s why I have to hide the most, I don’t need to get into some creepy love triangle with them two.” He replied laughing, he never thought anything much about Filch and Mrs. Norris beside them being master and pet. As Danny thought about it, it did seem a little bit creepy Filch always did seem obsessed with that cat. As they headed for the table Danny could hear Zoey mutter something about their dates finding them, which was just what Danny was thinking. After she sat down, Danny pulled out the chair next to her and sat down. He listened as she explained why she was glad she lost her paper, it had a Slytherin on it and Danny couldn’t blame her, he would have lost it too. “Well if your date comes around we can just say your actually with me and there must have been some kind of mess up in the papers.” Danny said with a smirk, then laughed a little. “That should keep you safe.” Danny added still laughing then stopped as he listened to her story about peeves and the candies. Danny remembered hearing about that while he was in the common room. “I was almost about to eat one of those candies, good thing I just kept walking to the common room instead. I’m sure it was someone else Peeves tends to be more violent, when he tries to mess with people but then again it could have been him." Danny remarked thinking how luck he was that he didn't eat any of the candy. It seemed like to much of a trap to him and he was right, it seemed. “Actually I might need to go get some of those candies if there’s more still up there.” Danny said with a smirk as he thought about what he would do with them. “They sound pretty useful or at lest funny to watch.” He added with a laugh looking back to the dance floor, the slow songs just kept going and right now they didn’t seem like they were going to stop anytime soon. It was kind of annoying, just the same slow song going again and again, or at lest it sounded the same to Danny. He kind of felt bad as he looked on to the people dancing; right now there might be someone at a table all alone because Danny lost his paper with her name on it. Danny always did feel bad for people too easily, he tried the best to just ignore the feeling. For a second he thought some girl was actually walking to their table and he felt a little awkward for a second, till she just walked around them. The lights seemed to turn back to white for a second but then they just flickered back to light blue again. “Well I guess we should expect slow songs most the night, it is a blind date ball after all.” Danny said with a smile as he turned back to Zoey. “So do remember the Slytherins name, you got? I can try to keep a look out for him if I know who he is.” Danny asked looking around for a second then back at her, this whole not knowing who to watch out for was getting kind of weird to Danny. (Write your posts as long as you want, I'll be fine.

Zoey laughed a little. “Well, I’ve never been tormented by Peeves thankfully, and I’ve never seen anyone tormented by him, so I don’t really know how he acts, just that he’s mischievous and enjoys picking on the third years.” She smirked and added a little laugh at the end. She looked at him and tilted her head to the side slightly. She thought she saw a little frown, but she wasn’t sure. “Uh…Danny, you alright?” she asked, a little worried. She never saw him frown before, or at least, look this serious before unless he was kidding. It didn’t look like he was kidding. She looked where Danny was looking. All she saw were people dancing. She guessed maybe he either wanted to dance or he felt bad for losing the paper with his date on it. She kept her mouth shut, deciding to just wait for his answer instead of guessing it as she probably usually would have done. A girl was walking to their table, and she sighed, assuming it was Danny’s date and he’d be leaving. She rested her elbow on the table and rested her chin on her hand quickly, sort of pouting until the girl passed. She let out a silent sigh of relief, knowing she wasn’t going to be alone, or at least, not for a while.
Zoey looked up when the lights became white, and then a light blue, and the corners of her lips turned upwards a little. She liked the light blue better than the dark blue. The dark blue seemed to be a little too dark and it got a little hard for her to see, and light blue was one of her favorite colors. She blinked and turned her attention back to Danny, who was saying he wanted the name of the Slytherin that was her date. “I don’t know, I sort of ignored the name as soon as I saw the ‘Slytherin’ part. I don’t think it really matters though; I don’t think any Slytherin will come looking for a Gryffindor.” She said, leaving the ‘thank god’ part that she was saying in her head out. She always felt a little bad when she said stuff like that, since one of the main reasons she didn’t like Slytherins were because they were, well, Slytherins, and she was a Gryffindor. Everyone knew the houses had tight tensions ever sense Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin made the houses because they didn’t like each other very well, but she always thought maybe there’d be that one odd ball that wasn’t like the rest of them, and half was decent. She felt a little bad because she would hate him because he belonged to Slytherin, but she didn’t let that get to her.
“But anyways, let’s not think of our dates. What do you want to do?” she asked him, looking from him to the floating candles, to him again. She looked out of the corner of her eye and saw a group of people coming. She looked in the opposite way, the way they were heading, seeing the snack bar. “So that’s where it is…” she said to herself, wondering how she missed it. She had been looking for it a little earlier so she could have a seat near it and so that she could get a drink because she was a little thirsty. They people passed them, and she looked back to Danny. “Sorry,” she began with a little laugh. “I was just wondering where the snack-bar was earlier, and I could seem to find it.” She explained to him about her sudden outburst. She smiled at him apologetically and looked to the dance floor again. It seemed to be getting more and more crowded with people, probably because they were beginning to find their dates. She blinked, wondering how much time had passed, and how much time was left for the ball.

Danny looked back to Zoey a few seconds after he heard her ask him if he was okay and he just smiled. “I’m with a beautiful girl, how can I not be okay?” He said with a small smirk as he turned to look at the few other tables around them. “I was just thinking about who it was on the piece of paper. I’m just hoping I didn’t ruin the ball for them by not holding onto it better.” He said with a smiled as he turned back to her. He didn’t want to think about he personally being the reason someone had a terrible time at the ball so he was going to have to try his best to ignore those thoughts and distract himself. His best just wasn’t good enough as he turned to the dance floor and saw people dancing and having fun but he still kept smiling not wanting to ruin Zoey's time too.
Soon Zoey helped him with getting distracted from his thoughts as she talked more about her date and Danny just laughed a little and nodded his head agreeing with her. “ Then it looks like your safe, unlike me. I have no idea who I got.” He said with a smirk as the thought crept up a little in his head but he pushed it back down, focusing on the floating candles above them. “ But I’ll just make sure to look out for any rude snobby people, incase they try to take away my beautiful assistant like that first year did.” Danny said turning to her again and smiling. Zoey soon decided to change the subject, which he thought was for the best all this talk about dates was making him feel a little bad again.
She soon asked him what he wanted to do but before he could even think about it she seemed to have been distracted with something. He listened as she explained that she had found where the snack-bar was and Danny was actually kind of glad, before he had ran into Zoey he had been looking for it too and now that she pointed it out he saw it too. “I was looking for it to but I ran into something much better, well more like something much better ran into me.” He said with a smile then winked looking back to Zoey as he then watched her look back to the dance floor, which now had more people then last time he looked.
Danny stood up and turned to Zoey with a smile. “Well even though I’m not you date, may I have this dance? We can’t have you sitting here all night in that beautiful dress without you showing it off.” Danny said with a smirk as he held out his hand. “And don’t worry I know how to dance so your feet are safe but I could always go get you something to eat instead if you don’t want to dance with me.” Danny added realizing he might have gotten ahead of himself in asking her if she wanted to dance, she might not have wanted to dance at all.

She listened to his explanation behind him being serious, and she nodded. “Don’t worry about it, I bet a lot of others lost the paper too. She probably found her friends and is having a great time.” Zoey assured him, giving him a small smile in hope of clearing his mind about it. She thought about it, sort of feeling bad about losing her paper too, but she swallowed her own advice and shoved the thought to the back of her head. She wasn’t going to let it affect her attitude to get Danny in a sour mood and then both of their nights be ruined because of her. Well, it might not have been because of her, but she’d feel as if it was and she’d blame it on herself anyways, as she did a lot of things. She looked around again, her fingers playing with each other as they always did when she was tapping them against a table or kicking her feet. She looked back at Danny after he finished his sentence, and saw he was focusing on the candles again.
Zoey laughed a little, blushed and shrugged. “I think you’re as safe as I am, ignoring the annoying little boy.” She said, smirking and looking behind her. He was gone, which was a small relief to her, and she went back to thinking about what he said. She doubted that anyone would come find them when it was this far into the night, and they’d probably be doing what she and Danny were doing, hanging out with familiar people who were probably in either the same situation as them, or in the situation she and Danny were in. It was probably more fun that way, instead of being with someone you barely knew, or with bad luck, despised greatly as she was doomed to do. She gave herself a small smile, almost giggling aloud. She was starting to think it was a little funny that they had lost the paper. It seemed like something that happened in TV shows or movies.
She smiled at his response to her discovering the location of the snack bar. She tilted her head a little, raising an eyebrow when he got up, wondering what he was doing. Her expression changed into a smile, hearing what he said and she stood up, taking his hand. “It’s not my feet I’m worried about, it’s yours.” She began giving a small laugh. “I’ve never been taught how to dance.” Zoey admitted quietly, embarrassed. She knew most girls were supposed to have been taught how to dance by their fathers. She thought about how they were supposed to stand on their father’s feet and dance with them around their living room to the radio, but unfortunately, her father wasn’t around to do that, and her mother was too busy to teach her. She felt like frowning and burying her face in her hands, but she kept her happy expression on so she wouldn’t ruin Danny’s mood. They started towards all the couples dancing, and when they got there, she turned to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, which was a little too high for her preference. “God, I’m short.” She giggled, looking around her at most of the people towering over her and then looking up to Danny. She laughed at herself again, shaking her head a little. Her bangs went into her eyes for a second until she swiped her hand and they went back into their normal place.

Danny just smiled as Zoey told him not to worry a lot of other people probably lost their papers too. “Darn and I was thinking it was fate we both lost ours.” He said with a smirk then laughed a little. Danny was sure he was right and was slowly getting over the feeling he had, it was probably for the best anyway. He laughed a little to himself thinking about it. “ It was probably someone who didn’t like me anyway.” He said laughingly as he turned to Zoey as he noticed her blush a little bit as he called her beautiful before then laughed more as she brought up the little kid and looked behind her. “Don’t worry I’m sure he's long gone for now, probably off dragging away other less beautiful girls because he can’t get away with you.” Danny said with a little laugh. “That would leave all the rest of the girls in school in danger, it seems.” He added with a smirk as he then turned to the dance floor once again.
As Danny stood in front of her he just smiled as she grabbed his hand and stood up then laughed a little as she said it was his feet she was worried about. “Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.” Danny said with a smirk looking down at her. “My mom was able to teach me so it can’t be all that hard to learn for you.” He said laughing as they made their way to the dance floor and finally claimed a spot of their own in the crowd of people on the floor. He could see a few friends pointing at him out of the corner of his eye, he was sure they were saying something about his robe. Everyone else’s seemed to be black or for the most part just one solid color but that was too boring for Danny. He just laughed a little and waved for a second then turned to Zoey.
He just smiled as Zoey put her hands on her shoulders and he put his hands on her waist. Danny just smirked as she commented on how short she was. “Don’t worry your not short at all, the rest of us are just abnormally tall.” Danny said laughing a little trying to make her feel better. Sure Zoey was short but she wasn’t that short and it wasn’t like it was a bad thing. “Don’t worry I’ll be a perfect gentleman.” He said smiling down at Zoey. “All you really have to do is follow my lead, if you feel me slightly push you one way just move that way. It’s not all that hard, when you get into the more complicated moves I’m sure it is though.” He said laughingly then smiled at her again. “Sorry I remembered you don’t like getting dragged or pushed around.” Danny said with a smirk as he remembered what she said when they first met.
They both slowly started dance staying in their own little space away from the couples all dancing around them. He didn’t want to imagine dancing right into a Slytherin couple or something, it would have been like walking onto a Muggle land mine. “See your doing just fine. Having fun so far?” He asked smiling down to Zoey. “We can stop whenever your ready, I personally could do this for hours but that’s just because of the dancing partner I was lucky enough to get.” Danny said winking then just laughed some more.

Zoey laughed with him at all the comments he made as they made their way to the dance floor and began dancing. She saw a couple of people looking and pointing at them, none she knew, but recognized. They were probably friends of his or people he knew looking at his robe. She’s probably be one of the people watching, as the red flames stood out in the ocean of black and dark, solid colors all of the other guys were wearing. She looked around, trying to see if she saw anyone she knew, but she just saw mostly older students that she didn’t recognize. She looked back at Danny; her cheeks still a soft pink from her bushing earlier. She laughed at his comment about how she was normal and everyone else was ‘abnormally tall.’ Still smiling, she nodded at his instructions and laughed at the last comment. “I’ll make an exception.” She said, matching his smirk and a little shocked that he had remembered.
Zoey smiled up at him, nodding at him asking if she was having fun. She never knew dancing could be this entertaining, as when ever she watched; it looked a little boring if it weren’t fancy and professional. She let out a silent laugh at his reason why he could dance for hours. “It’s actually fun…Not that I didn’t think it’d be boring…Well I did, but…” she pausing, giggled at herself from babbling. She took a breath, and looked up at him. “Thank you.” She smiled. “I’d probably be stuck alone somewhere or sitting at a table, bored out of my mind if it weren’t for you.” She looked back at the tables they were sitting at, seeing almost all of them empty. She looked back around them, seeing that it was extremely crowded, especially near the stage was. She wondered when the slow music was going to stop, and the fast music she liked would start playing, or even if it was going to be playing. She knew it had played before a previous balls and dances held at Hogwarts, but maybe this one was different because it was a blind date ball.
She smiled up at him, and looked down at their feet. She was amazed that she hadn’t stepped on his feet, but as soon as that thought popped into her head, she jinxed it. “Oh god…I’m sorry, are you alright?” she asked, her face red with embarrassment as she looked up at him. She laughed a little at herself. “It’s a little funny- I was just thinking that I was doing good.” She smiled, laughing a little again. She blocked all thoughts about them dancing form her mind, knowing she’d probably jinx herself again with her luck. Zoey looked past Danny’s head at the candles, seeing that they were starting to change slowly from light blue, to a medium-dark blue, and back to light blue again. There pretty and kind of distracting to her, but it might have just been because of her ADHD, and how she had always been easily distracted, especially by lashing and pretty lights. She blinked out of it, her eyes focusing back up at Danny.
"So, Danny...When's your birthday?" she asked randomly, out of curiosity. She always asked the dates of people's birthdays, one, because she enjoyed it for some odd reason, and two, she always had to surprise them. She literally, had to. It was like some unwritten rule she as bound too. But, she enjoyed it because her friens were always happy that at least one of their friends remembered. She blinked again and looked out of the corner of her eye at everyone again. The people seemed to have been getting tired and sitting down at the tables, which led her to thinking what time it was again. There was a lot more room now on the dance floor, which as a small relief to her because she could stop worrying about bumping into people and making a complete fool of herself by getting knocked off balance and making another couple loose their balance, and possibly turning into a domino affect. She smirked.

Danny just smiled down at Zoey as she said she would make an exception about pushing her this one time while they were dancing. “Don't worry I won't drag you off like he did, although it is tempting.” Danny said laughing a little then smiling down at her. He could still remember how they met and he was sure that memory was going to stick with both of them for quite awhile. Danny just smiled as he listened to her answer his question about having fun then just laughed along with her as she seemed to have gotten tongue tied for a second. He just smiled as she thanked him, if it wasn't for him she said she would still be sitting around bored. Danny just laughed a little then smiled down at her. “Trust me, with how you look tonight I'm sure you wouldn't have been sitting there for too long.” He said smiling down at her as they both slowly kept dancing in their little circle. “Which isn't to say you weren't beautiful before.” Danny added with a smile looking down at her then looked around them making sure they were still some distance from the other students.
“I should be the one thanking you, I'd probably be under tables hiding from my date or something if it wasn't for you.” Danny said laughing as he looked back down at her. He watched as she looked down at her feet for a second and as she did she stepped on Danny's foot which threw him off balance a little but he regained it quickly and tried to act like nothing happened so she wouldn't feel bad. She did seem to notice after all and said she was sorry then asked him if he was okay and Danny just smiled. “I'm fine, don't worry about it. It didn't hurt at all, I just lost my balance for a second.” Danny said still smiling down at her as they started dancing again and he laughed as she explained what happened.
“That's how dancing works, it seems. If you pay too much attention to your feet your going to mess up. You just have to do what you feel like you should do, it seems to work out most times for me.” Danny said laughing at how he explained it and realized how odd it sounded. “But that's just how I am, I'm far too impulsive most times but your never going to find out if your not suppose to do something till you do it.” Danny said with a smirk remembering how being so impulsive got him in trouble quite a few times. “Then again I don't recommend being like me.” Danny added laughing a little as he kept thinking still.
“My birthday? It's July 27th, why do you ask?” Danny said with a smirk looking down at her as they kept dancing. “If your planning on getting me something, don't worry about it. I'd say just sticking a present bow on your head will be good enough.” Danny said laughing and wondered for a second why she just randomly asked when was his birthday but he didn't mind sharing. “I was just kidding, just so you know.” Danny added then looked around as he noticed a few people were moving off from the dance floor then some more followed them. Danny hadn't bothered to wonder what time it was till he noticed people disappearing from the dance floor. “Want to hit the snack-bar before everything's gone?” Danny said with a smirk as he turned back to her and kept dancing. “Dancing or snack-bar, I'm fine with either one or both. Anyway if I get hungry later, I've got a hundred little friends with tons of food.” Danny said laughing as he waited for her answer.
